I recently had the pleasure of eating at Taylor’s and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. The staff were welcoming and friendly which made the experience even better. The food was outstanding, the fish was perfectly cooked—golden, crispy batter on the outside with soft, flaky white fish on the inside. It was clear that everything was prepared fresh, with high-quality ingredients. The chips were thick-cut and fried to perfection. Even the mushy peas, were spot on. The portion sizes were generous and yet the prices remain extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get.

Got the lunch deal fish and chips and ate it outside the Abbey - almost certainly the best lunch in Battle on a summer's day!

Bought 3 lots of cod and chips on Thursday 20th June. Its the worst takeaway fish and chips I have ever bar not. The chips were under cooked and just hot damp potato! The so call battered fish was bits of fish in an awful batter. Some one needs to teach the staff how to cook this simple food. Staff didn't even know how to have a conversation.

Scampi n chips were lovely here, and the pancake rolls. Pity it shuts early, at 21.30 on a Saturday night. Great service, and not all greasy.

Great chips and batter on fish so light

Had the medium cod and small chips. Best fish and chips I've tasted for a long time. Fish freshly cooked and with a nice light crispy batter, ample portions too.

Ordered large cod and chips and it was ready super-quick on a Friday evening. Lovely fish, one star off service as they were a bit shy with the salt and vinegar on the chips.

So faced with the tough decision over Taylor's versus Battle Kebabs I approached both stealthily at night. Taylor's had a queue of locals, Kebabs didn't, despite their large (empty) dining area. The queue of customers at Taylor's didn't die down during the time I waited. I bought fish and chips and it was reasonably priced, above average in taste, above average sized portion, all freshly prepared for me. When in Rome...

Hideously oily, barely cooked chips. But served efficiently. The fish batter was literally soggy and dripping with oil. The most rank fish and chips I have ever had the misfortune to have. Place by the library is leagues better. This meal was an embarrassment to fish and chips.

Had the lunch deal menu Fish and Chips, which is a bargain! Both fish and chips were tasty, definately fresh and plenty enough for a proper filling lunch.

The fish was dry and the batter was under cooked and anemic looking.... Very unpleasant to eat and not worth the £11 I paid.

Under cooked chips and pale batter again tonight, second time in a week. Shame as they are normally very good. Maybe they need to cook the food for a bit longer.

Superb Fish & Chips. We had large cod & chips to share, and one Kids fish&chips. Kid said best F&C he had ( eat all 😋 in one sitting). Portions are very generous and quality food. Fish was very well made and not greasy, like you get in some places. Really nice crisp batter and chips where like proper chippy store should have 😋10/10

We've always loved the fish from this place but are beginning to wonder if it has changed hands. The last two orders of large fish and chips (£23) have provided soggy pale batter on the fish. So today I asked if it could be cooked a bit longer and the young man taking the order said ok. First he asked the back room staff for two small cod and I had to correct him. When it was served up ready to wrap (without salt and vinegar so it did leave it soggy) I commented that it was still very pale and got a shrug of the shoulders. Don't get me wrong, the fish is lovely but the batter once we get home and serve it up (we are literally 2 mins away) is pale and soggy. It needs cooking for slightly longer! The batter is part of the experience and I'm afraid we aren't enjoying that. The fish is just cooked so could cope with another minute. Sometimes the chips are pale too. If this continues we will go elsewhere. It used to be so good here and considering the prices have risen sharply this needs to be addressed.

I'm so annoyed with this dump. I've paid nearly 16 quid for 2 bags of grotty chips and a battered sausage because the buffoon who served us got the order mixed up with another customer. What my wife ordered was 2 fish and chips.

They forgot to include all of the whole order and didn’t offer an appropriate remedy. It’s on them to check the order is complete and this isn’t hard to do. The food is nice.

The worst fish and chips that I’ve ever eaten! I say eaten but I only actually had about 5 chips and a quarter of the cod. I would have brought it back to get a refund but I was only in Battle for a few hours so didn’t have time. The chips were hard and mostly black so clearly using old mouldy spuds. They also had a nasty taste of oil on them so possibly from the day before. The fish was full of bones and batter was soggy. Disappointing. The only plus point was the service was fast and friendly. I shall not be returning but hopefully they up their game.

Just passing through and quickly checked Trip advisor, previous bad reviews made us wary but it was delicious. Good portion, crispy chips and fish. Good curry sauce. Would go again.

Fairly priced chips for me and the family. Seemed to be very clean and staff friendly enough but wasn’t quite a 5 star experience. Felt like something was missing from the experience but food tasted nice

Cannot recommend taylors fish bar too highly very impressed beautiful chunky chips I had the huss (rock) which was very nicely cooked lovely helpful staff warning gets busy I went on a Monday evening and it was constantly busy then

This chippy makes the most delicious chips, the fish is always very good too. I use this plaice regularly and have always cod a good service

Chips barley cooked properly I ordered a battered sausage and the batter was soggy basically just just fell off the sausage battle food is disgusting I would recommend driving to london to get food then eat here!!

These are the fluffiest chips ever crispy skin clean no potatoe eye. And so good. Portion for medium to share was just right. However left me wanting more. Sooo good.

Chips were that hard they have cut my gums and nearly cracked my partners teeth.... Fish was average.... curry sauce was nice.... Will not be returning....

Soggy chips fried in old oil which has a distinct smell and taste which is awful. The fish fillet is sliced in half length ways so they make more profit. I've been to this takeaway a handful of times and each time is bad, but this time was the worst 🤮

Fish was lovely! The chips were a bit soft,we prefer them a bit more crunchy. But great service.

This used to be a really good fish and chip shop but the last three visits it has gone down hill, chips were not cooked, pale, soggy and stuck together. We phoned the first time and was told it was a change in the season for potato's so we left it 4 weeks and tried again and the same happened. Giving the benefit of the doubt we left another 6 weeks but have just picked up pale uncooked stuck together chips again. Sadly we live 6 miles away and only discovered this when we got home. Badly disappointing and will not be going back.

I've been to Taylor's 4 times and never been disappointed. Polite friendly staff and always great food. Been to many chippies in my local area , but this one is worth the extra mile. Delicious!

My husband queued up for me last week and today .well worth the wait. I had 2 Saveloys and chips,my husband had battered sausage and sausage and chips. Absolutely delicious!!! No grease on my hands at all. I bought a cloth in case as we ate in the van, but didn't even need it!!! Will be back again!!!

Disappointed. First time visit here had just opened up for the day had 2 battered sausage and chips the sausages were lovely batter crispy very tasty the chips however were dreadful three quarters of them were just scraps with no potato in them the others were decent unsure if I’ll return

Good service, well priced and lovely food. We had both Haddock and cod which was covered in a gorgeous batter, the chips were fantastic too. A couple of sides (curry sauce - very tasty and mushy peas), made this a perfect take away meal.

Best fish and chips in the whole of south east, hands down. I wish I could take all of my London friends here to try. Their chips are my favourite chips from anywhere. Cheapest take away in Battle, too!
