This restaurant was spectacular the staff and service was brilliant. The food was so delicious the steak was the best I have had in forever. We had a side of caesar salad and this was the freshest and most delicious salad. The wine was so delicious and the cocktails very unique and so tasty.

For someone who has been to quite a number of restaurants in Belfast, this place is easily a miss! Struggled to locate the entrance because it is quite hidden, it was so noisy and the smoke from the grill filled the entire place. The food was awful! Never been to a place this bad. Funny how, my colleague visited and had the same experience. I do not recommend.

Visited in September 2024 - the starter course of salted beef fritters was inedible, the texture was indescribable so possibly give that one a miss. The Padron peppers were yum 🤤 the mains of ribeye and t-bone were great - the steaks were cooked as we asked and for the first time in Belfast (for me) actually rare and not over cooked. Could not say one thing bad about the main and the chips and sauce are included in the price. Unfortunately out the other side the desserts were nothing to write home about. Mike’s fancy cheese was more about chutney and grapes, 2 measly slices of cheese and the rest of the plate was just pre-packet noise. Don’t waste your time on starters and desserts - go straight for the grill offerings. Service was ok, front of house guy is definitely the keeping the place ticking over and probably needs a raise. I will definitely be back and the atmosphere was great - thriving.

Came here with my wife for our anniversary. First impressions: not many people here on a Saturday lunchtime. Place definitely clean, felt fairly casual. They have an open kitchen but I wasn’t facing it. Service was friendly and not obtrusive. For drinks my wife had soda water and lime and I had a margarita with pineapple and other fruits (not great), then a paloma (lovely, wish I’d had it first!). For mains we decided on a steak to share - they show what’s available on a board and we went for a 700g chateaubriand. It took about a half hour to arrive (they warned us in advance) because we asked for it well done as per my wife’s preference (I’d say it came medium - well done but it was acceptable for her and I wasn’t complaining!). The steak was tender and well seasoned although seemed a little smaller than I’d expect a 700g steak to be (we’ve had 600g ones in the past elsewhere and it didn’t seem bigger). No pepper sauce here, but my wife had burnt onion cream (pleasant enough) and I had anchovy mustard (more mustard with subtle anchovy but it had a nice kick). It came with fries (lovely and again well seasoned, we didn’t need salt), greens (scallion and green beans - I thought it was pretty good), and we got a salad as well (very nice but note that it had coriander which we like but a lot of people don’t). The bill was about £136, which is a lot for one course, but it should be noted that our chateaubriand was the most expensive sharing steak on the menu (£13.5 per 100g when the other cuts are £8 or £8.5 for 100g), so you could eat well without spending as much as we did.

The food is very good and the environment is calm. It's a shame that the portions of meat are a bit small (only two slices for the Sunday roast). The restaurant was recommended to us by a local, in fact it is a bit hidden and we would not have noticed it on our own.

We were staying at the hotel attached to this restaurant for a few nights and booked here for our meal on Friday night. Fabulous grill restaurant with a quirky lively atmosphere. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Various steaks on offer for varying tastes and appetites- displayed on a board with quantities of each type and size remaining - when they are gone they are gone!

The food was very good and the portions very decent. I think the location is also pretty great. The restaurant has a cocktail menu, but there are also few cocktail bars near by…one of them is literally in the same building. The music was little too loud, I couldn’t hear our waitress properly…but my hearing is also terrible, so that could be it lol Definitely worth a visit :)

We chanced across this restaurant and bar and it was an excellent find! Food was lovely and also had good vegetarian choices, service from all staff was excellent, attentive and helpful. They also have a hotel here, definitely worth considering for future trips over. The pop-up record shop was the icing on the cake. DJ Steven Stanley

The manager and servers are excellent, they are genuinely the only reason not to feel aggrieved by the food served in this restaurant. The food is awful overall. I cannot stress this enough. We had decent sharing starters - the breads and dips were good. The chili chipolatas are let down by having been precooked and cooked swiftly again to serve quickly - leaving a rubbery texture but great taste. We ordered a sharing steak - asking about the cut of meat which we didn't recognise and being told that the expert manner of cooking the picanaha made it a good choice to try. We requested it be cooked medium rare. It was cooked to a strong well done on the edges and a rare in the middle. The edges were inedible, dry and tasting of liver. The centre, although rare, was still weirdly tough. The asparagus and chips were unremarkable. The sauces decent/good. We had dessert as 2/3 of the steak was returned uneaten/inedible. There is only so much sawing and chewing that can take place in one meal before becoming disheartened. The basque cheesecake was decent when covered in compote. Otherwise it too was overcooked and dry. The tonka bean pudding had a peculiar texture - which we were explained was due to it being vegan, poor vegans. The dark chocolate torte with orange sorbet was the strangest attempt at this pudding ever witnessed. It was a tart case filled with Nutella, at best guess. It certainly was not a dark chocolate torte. The cheese plate and crackers were a horrible end to a hideous meal. There has literally never been a cheese plate I haven't found joy in, and yet Taylor and Clay managed this. The cheeses were dry and the crackers were soft. It felt like the cheese you see the morning after on an uncleared board. The staff were lovely. The wine and cocktails decent. We left hungry. There was a good buzz to the restaurant with some very drunk and loud men in the table behind us.

The steak I got was definitely smaller than expected. I should have brought a scale with be to check, but it was a good steak. The onion sauce that came with it was so good, though low on salt than I would have liked. The padron peppers were good, but again low on salt. The cheesecake was honestly pretty bad, not good at all. It's good, certainly not great.

In Belfast for the weekend stumbled across this nice looking place yesterday approximately 4pm. Lovely ambiance on walking in. Tempted by the idea of the SHARING charcuterie and cheese for 2 . Apparently a SELECTION of LOCALLY SOUCED meat and cheese !! ……….. What we actually got was a beautiful large heavy plate …… so very lonely in the centre of the plate was ONE of those mini Brie from a selection pack , HALVED !!!! No other cheese was found on the large plate !!! 🥲 The Charcuterie were also found very lonely in the centre of the plate , which existed of 2 thin slices of chorizo ( 1 each !! ) and 3 thin slices of Parma ham ( 1 and a half each !! ) We ran out of any meat or cheese to put on the last of 7 very small posh crackers. The garnish of a handful of slightly old grapes were then found between the meat and 3 oversized dishes of chutney which took up most of the plate. The cost £16 !!!!!!!!! Absolute daylight robbery !!! We understand that regardless of eating out or at home everything is more expensive these days but how can you honestly charge such a ludicrous amount for a couple of mouthfuls of food that were clearly not as described ! Neither a selection or locally sourced !!! We did speak to the waitress about our discontent but nothing other than a fleeting apology was offered ! Service was OK. Ribeye Steaks were OK not great. Not as tender and flavorful as expected. At the end the waitress tried to add a 10% surcharge on our bill for three. When I asked about this the waitress said I can take that off if you wish. She took it off. I don't appreciate the forcing of tipping especially in a society that does not tip. Restaurants in Belfast are already overly expensive. Tipping is for service above and beyond. Nothing was above and beyond. It was my wife's birthday the least they should of done is give her a free desert.

A large party (18) of us were accommodated on 2 tables in an L shape. Menu offered plenty of choice and was reasonably priced with supplements for steak etc as you would expect. Service was good, had a mix up with a drinks order which was put right without issue. Food was lovely,I had salmon, others nearby had steak and everyone was pleased with their meal. I recommend the cauliflower cheese side dish. Our one complaint as a group was the place in general was not warm enough. Some of the group were staying in the hotel and their rooms were cold as well. They were able to rectify this I believe.

We chanced a walk-in on New Year's Eve after being let down elsewhere; the lovely gentleman who greeted us (I assume he was management) looked through the system and advised the wait would be around 1.5 hrs at a minimum but that we could have a drink in the bar. After around 25 mins the gent approached us and told us he'd managed to squeeze us in and led us to a table in the restaurant. He then proceeded to check in on us during the meal and managed to get in a goodbye as we left too! We were made to feel super special and it was definitely a highlight of our trip to Belfast. Service and food were both incredible and we would highly recommend to anybody in Belfast!

Food and service were EXCEPTIONAL. SHE Started with a Shiraz and I had a Guinness (naturally). Then we had the bites menu - cashews, bread and bits, and Gordal Olives. We followed that up with the Pork Belly dinner and I had the chicken with apricot and pistachio stuffing. The meats were cooked to perfection. The sauces were full of flavor and complementary. It was an excellent experience and I ended the evening with a Spicy Margarita off the specialty cocktail menu. Wonderful experience.

I recently dined at the restaurant with three other people, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The ribeye steaks, fillet steak, and sirloin steak we ordered were all disappointingly burnt, with the medium rare ones ending up well done and the medium ones being rare. My sirloin steak, in particular, was incredibly chewy, making it inedible. The accompanying Bernaise and burnt onion sauces were subpar, lacking flavor and consistency – the burnt onion sauce resembled a thin soup rather than a sauce. Even the chips failed to impress, falling short of expectations compared to fast-food takeaway options. Having tried steaks in various restaurants all around Europe, this was by far the worst experience. Despite bringing up the issue with a staff member, who kindly deducted 20% from my plate, it didn't alleviate the disappointment of leaving hungry after a subpar dining experience. To add to the dissatisfaction, the restaurant was excessively loud. I regret to say that I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Very juicy and delicious steak. However… come on guys you can give more fries than that. A tiny bowl. Ditto mushrooms- at £6, each mushroom cost about 50 pence. And just THREE wines (red or white) by the glass?? That’s laughable. Otherwise, a decent wine list. Good atmosphere. Waitresses really rushed off their feet on a Monday night- they did well. But you should hire one more. And really…. Think about your portion sizes and wine list. I’m being generous!

We booked for a family birthday. The food was superb and the service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. When a steak came out which wasn’t cooked quite as we like it was replaced and we were given a reduction off the bill and an apology with no prompting. The final bill was very reasonable for quality of food and service. The service was worthy of a 5* restaurant. A fantastic find and highly recommend.

My go to in Belfast, weather for a drink, meet friends, enjoy the events or have a beer and a snack, it’s a favourite of mine. Went on Saturday for a glass of wine and a bite to eat, the wine was great, (if a little over priced for a small glass), ordered the burger, well cooked, proper patty and very tasty but 2 minuscule leaves of little gem and a side bowl of your own tomato ketchup that wasn’t enough to spread on the bun was a little disappointing, I’d have expected a better standard of dressing on the burger or on the side and the ketchup is too nice too limit it too a miserly serving. This is not a bad review just a nudge to ensure your high standards are top of the game.

Slightly delayed review, but had it be done. With a last-minute desire to have a Sunday Roast without a booking in Belfast for 6 adults and 3 kids in the summer, is very limited. However Pedro (I believe was the manager's name) and his team went above and beyond to cater for us. They made a very kind exception to allow us to sit outside but order from the menu inside as we had our dog with us. They also completely catered to our dietary needs with a few vegetarians, at which they didn't offer a vegetarian option, and was able to create a veggie roast from a different items on the menu. They swapped chicken for pork on the menu for one of the roast options, catered for the hungry kids by bringing their food asap, and offered them colouring-in activities to keep them occupied. Not to forget the water bowl for the dog. Overall, a great experience, the food was delicious and service was fantastic. Would highly recommend and will absolutely be returning.

Booked this fairly last minute but they had a table and squeezed us in. Service was attentive. Food was brilliant. Overall experience really pleasant and informal. We had starters, the steak off the blackboard and shared a dessert. Highly recommend.

Taylor and Clay is a fantastic restaurant. It’s a strange layout - a courtyard then a bar area which kinda doubles as the hotel check in and then an indoor restaurant. Regardless, over two nights it was impossible to find an issue with the staff or food. The staff are absolutely awesome. The service is top notch, not quite psychic but nearly. The food was fabulous and the price point was perfect. Highly recommended.

The food was lovely. Not a lot of variety, steak and fish, which is fine by me I love steak. So if you like steak or fish definitely a great place to go. The steak I got was rump and honestly it was cooked to perfection, medium for me and medium rare for my friend. So tender and melt in the mouth, would definitely recommend. Also was nicely presented on the plate and your own wee dish for sauce. The layout is kind of strange, you go through an outdoor bar to an inner bar then into the restaurant which is open to the inner bar. Just a bit strange. The hosts and waiters/waitresses were brilliant, I forget her name, but our waitress was lovely and helpful when it came to ordering, good recommendations and knew her menu. The price was good for the quality of food. I got a starter, a main and a drink and it cost £37.50 each.

I live in Belfast and there are way better restaurants for better value. Service good - didn't visit the much written about toilets thankfully so can't comment but what I did notice was poor food hygiene whilst seated at the chef's bench. Not much hand washing going on between handling of raw meat and other food stuffs. Mediocre meal that was over priced. Much better elsewhere. Positives: service staff pleasant and helpful. Food came reasonably quickly.

We were staying at the Bullitt Hotel and decided to try one of their in-house restaurants, the Taylor and Clay. It was busy, but with 15 minutes notice they were able to seat us with a view our the window. We had only arrived in Belfast that afternoon and we were not hungry so we decided on the salmon special and the Canon of Lamb with a rocket salad. These together with some glasses of nice wines, a Contrapasso and a La Linda, made for a very enjoyable dinner. Staff were friendly and efficient and they made our evening quite enjoyable.

Came across this restaurant by accident while wandering around trying to find somewhere with space late on a Friday night - and WOW what a find! I never usually write reviews but everything about this place was exceptional. Incredibly friendly staff, very attentive and provided great recommendations. We shared the tri tip steak which arrived pre-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The fries and veggies on the side were so tasty. Even the sauces we picked were delicious! The wine was top class. I already can't wait to come back!

Staff friendly and earnest workers. The real downer was the toilets which are communal with the Bulllit Bar. To say they were vile was an understatement. Strong smell of urine like an overused underbleached public toilet. Enough to make you throw up your starter. Needs a customer only toilet....avoid otherwise

Third visit to this restaurant. After an unfortunate spillage of drinks at the start of the evening, we had a great meal with friends. Complimentary breads and dips were fantastic. Steaks were cooked to our taste and of great quality, flavour so good in fact that the sauce was not required. Best chips ever, how do they do that. Waitress staff were great and the Mitre-d, Pedro, was very attentive and gave us a generous discount for the spillage issue. We will most certainly return.

Came here without reservation, yet was seated fairly quickly. We ordered two cocktails, which were superb. The croquettes were amazing flavorful. The chicken was juicy and well done. The decor of the place is contemporary and inviting. The service was good but we had to call our server a couple of times as they were taking too much time either bringing water or the check. Very nice set up inside the restaurant, can see directly into the kitchen which is nice. Very clean and well-run. Staff are all really friendly and strike up good conversation. Food is great, really tasty and well presented. Could be a lot warmer however. 10% service charge automatically added to bill, would have been nice to be asked prior.

This is a tricky one. My food was okay, as it was for my mother but my wife's wasn't great. For the price, more would be expected. The service was friendly and attentive, and the small acknowledgement of the birthday was a nice touch. The drinks were good. Overall, the whole experience would have been a 4 or 5 with better food, the eternal key to a good restaurant.

Went here for a work event on a Friday night and the food and drink overall was great. For the starters I had the tomato terrine but I wasn’t a fan after a few bites so a colleague offered me their king prawns with flatbread. The sauce with them was amazing and perfect for dipping the flatbread into! For the main I had the whole fish of the day which was a whole sea bass in a red curry with clams and veg along with a side of garlic potatoes. This would have been perfect with some boiled rice but unfortunately they do not serve rice. I asked if they had any chopsticks available and the waiter managed to helpfully get a pair for me. For the desert I had the rhubarb trifle which an absolute delight and the perfect way to finish off the dinner. The fish house punch was the standout drink for me, it was excellent and one of my favourite cocktails ever. The service was great and the waiters were always prompt in taking drink orders and any other requests. Overall great food, great service and great atmosphere.

A little expensive TBH,. My Rib Eye was very tasty, and it came with what was described as fries the 4 or 5 on the top of the bowl were fine, then the fried bits underneath were just like crispy peas , and this is my reason for the 4 stars and a service charge of £12 for a table of 3 , finally Service and Atmosphere 💯

Tribals food was amazing I had a peppered stack burger which was great good bun a chicken fillet and a quarter pounder burger with pepper sauce and an onion ring ! Juicy burger with a crisp and tasty chicken fillet, massive portion and almost too much to finish!! My lunch companion had the pulled pork fries again they were very good well worth a visit good quick and pleasant service 5* !!

I’ve been visiting a friend in NI and this was a lovely stop-off on the way to city airport. The space feels airy and clean, beautifully decorated and full of plants and displays that highlight and celebrate the local area and its history, perfect for a chill brunch. The menu was full with lots of different choices of bagels and toppings (so much that it took me a while to choose!) in the end I went for an Everything Bagel with Hello You filling (halloumi, bacon, hash brown and hot honey) and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice, it was delicious. I even bought a gift for my dad in the adjoining record store! I had such a good time that I wrote a fridge poem about the place (see attached photo). Highly recommend!

Steak is amazing, best I’ve had. The atmosphere is lovely! The Prosecco was delicious! The service was fast but also really personable. Genuinely loved it!
