Fantastic food and a fantastic service , I recommend it to anyone in the area

I'm baffled by the great reviews of this place, especially compared to similar restaurants in Belfast. Upon arrival the menu for food (and wine) was very expensive and fairly limited. When the food came out the portion size was very small for every plate and it was a bit cold. The food tasted nice as expected and the service was good but when you're charging those sort of prices (like other similar restaurants do) then you have to back it up, however we were all left disappointed, especially considering the cost. In the end, we had to order more food later that night so I doubt we'll be back.

The main course was exceptional. Each ingredient seemed to have been carefully chosen for its taste and freshness, and the balance of flavors was perfectly mastered. It is rare to find a dish where all the elements complement each other so harmoniously, making every bite a true delight. As for the dessert, it was equally impressive. It is often difficult to find desserts that are not excessively sweet, but here, the chef managed to dose the sugar with great finesse. The result was a dessert that was not only delicious but also light, perfect for concluding the meal without being too heavy. Finally, the staff deserves a special mention. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile. Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable.

Unfortunately this restaurant does not live up to its 4.8 rating. Too expensive for what Roam is trying to be. Price to meal size ratio is not in proportion e.g. 3 small slices of steak. The food overall was tasty just a shame about the price.

I would return here for the sides alone. This was a brilliant experience, the food was well cooked and presented beautifully. The cocktails are wonderful and the service was great. Really good knowledge of gluten free options and the staff put me at ease around what was safe for me to eat. The potatoes and veg we ordered as a side were the highlight of the meal. Two months later and I'm still thinking about them

What a lovely lunch! Short rib beef starter was amazing! Hake was delicious! This is cooking at its best. Side dishes very generous and we loved the cheeses and the delicious chutneys. Service is excellent with a great description of each dish. Lunch is exceptional value. Well worth a visit.

Incredible food!!! I didn’t want to brush my teeth before bed as I wanted to keep the flavour forever 😂 why this place isn’t a Michelin star I’ve no idea! Too good to be?! ❤️

We had tried to get a Friday night booking, but unfortunately, they were fully booked. However, in the afternoon, we decided to call and see if we could get lunch. We were lucky and what a fantastic experience it was. The food was amazing, wines excellent and great service. We will definitely return when we are next in Belfast.

My friends and I had a lovely lunch in Roam, food and wine were excellent and staff were very attentive. However, our experience was unfortunately spoiled by the waiter rushing us from our table while we still hadn’t finished our wine, clearing coffee cups when we had not finished the coffee! It was all the more disappointing when we were told our table was required in another hour and 15 minutes to allow the restaurant to close and reopen later. This would have been acceptable had the other six occupied tables also been required to leave at the same time. I will not be recommending Roam in the future.

10/10 for Roam. By far the best meal I have had in Belfast in 8+ years of travelling here. The cocktails are delicious, food is creative and flavourful, without being too salty. Although the portions are small top to tail they are filling and satisfying. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful with food and wine selections. Hope Roam sticks around for a while and continues to draw a crowd. Great example of how delicious food doesn’t need to be too glitzy or pricy.

WOW !! Just amazing from start to finish , Service,food , atmosphere all 5* .. We love to eat out but for a long time now have been so put off by the awful standard of service and overpriced food ,talked up menus that always fail to disappoint . Roam was a wonderful experience in every way , from the moment you go through the door you know this place has that special something .

Had a great date night at Roam, the food was absolutely delicious! The treacle wheaten bread was a highlight. Service was good too, very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. I'd definitely go back!

I really wanted to give this place 5/5 stars, We really enjoyed the food and the experience, but having to be asked twice to make sure our table is vacant for their next reservation was a little much and dampened the experience. We were aware we had the table booked till 8:30 without having to be told. We ended downing the rest of our wine and left with 15 min to spare for their next reservation, we would have been here another 5 min at most if we were left to our own schedule. It was unnecessary and wiped the enjoyment I was having; especially when there were 2 free tables next to us.

Amazing food and fantastic service

This was our second visit. We had an excellent dinner a few months ago. This time we had lunch. Yet again the food was top class and the service was friendly and professional. We had Mourne lamb rump which was excellent. Whatever main course you choose we highly recommend as a side the crushed baby potato and garlic confit. I am not a big potato fan but I think this dish is unique to Roam. We hope to return soon . Thank you.

I think at this stage, Roam is probably the best restaurant in Belfast. The food is nothing short of incredible. The flavours, the fresh ingredients, just the creativity of the dishes and menu. The cocktails were probably the best Ive tasted in Belfast. And I've done extensive research 😉. The interior design is modern, stylish and understated. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and really put the icing on the cake. It's a fabulous dining experience, they've really raised the bar here.

Good very good but not amazing enough to make me choose ita again over other favourites in Belfast. Service excellent. Atmosphere was lacking as only two other diners in the restaurant the whole time we were there over lunch.

Came here fairly close to closing (about 13:45) on a sunny Saturday, having booked based on reviews on here. You'd easily walk past (like I did!) as no sign on the outside but I think this adds to the understated appeal. What an amazing place! Light, airy and lots of extremely welcoming and attentive staff. I was eating alone and enjoyed some chat before and after meal on places to go and things to see. The food was exceptional. Fairly small portions but packed with flavour. Had the duck and spring onion dashi to start and the lamb as main with the crushed baby potatoes as side. The potatoes were arguably the star of the show... Delicious flavour, seasoning and loads of fabulous crispy bits mixed in with them. Highly recommended.

Despite the wonderful menu and quality of food our overall experience was ruined by the passive aggressive way we were spoken to by wait staff. The food offering is amongst the best in NI but the standard of service did not align and on that basis I would unfortunately find it difficult to recommend.

Was in Roam last night with a some friends. We had the most amazing meal. It’s the first time in a long time where I have been truly blown away by the standard and taste of food set in front of me. There were 6 of us and everyone loved their meals. Service was outstanding from Shauna our waitress. She guided us through the menu with knowledge and experience and her manner was fantastic, so friendly and nothing was a bother to her. She definitely added to the experience. Thank you and we will definitely be back.

The best value for money, menu and eating experience in Belfast. Service was excellent, food was exceptional, all in a comfortable and environment.

Food is very tasty but very small quantity. Very pricy for what you get. Each main plate is around £30 plus the side dish.

I highly recommend Roam’s baked apple. They use a special oil crops as the base of the ice cream ( in my country, we call the crops as Suma 苏麻 or Yinzi 引子）. This dessert really amazed me because it’s the first time I’ve had it outside of my hometown. The staffs here are very friendly. They deserve five stars.

Went to Roam last night and had a fantastic meal with absolutely top class service. Our server was bubbly and lovely and couldn’t do enough. Booked for 7:30 and then in the blink of an eye it was 11! Really would recommend - Belfast is blessed with yet another great spot to eat!!

Was at Roam with a friend on Sat 27th Jan for lunch. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and the staff were really attentive and friendly.

Beautiful food and service...very quite but maybe due to weather conditions and public service industrial action...staff were still very engaging and attentive!! Will definitely be back!

Serving the finest local ingredients, Roam is a terrific restaurant in Belfast’s Callendar Street. With beautifully presented, delicious dishes, the menu changes with the seasons. As always, lunch at Roam is incomplete without starting with the gorgeously moist Stout & Treacle Bread with Whipped Sea Salt Butter. We then enjoyed the Portavogie Langoustines with Tomato, Red Pepper, Lemon & Sourdough, and a bowl of Celeriac Tagliatelle in a delicious creamy broth with Miso Onion & Oyster Mushrooms. To follow, the Pollock with Mussels, Potato and Smoked Butter, and the Jerusalem Artichoke with Salsify, Pearl Barley and Veg Jus were served with sides of buttery Garlic Crushed Baby Potatoes, & Organic Veg with Herb Dressing. And make sure to leave room for Dessert; we loved the pretty little tart of Roasted Plum and Blackberry Sorbet with Oats, and the cocoa-rich 55% Chocolate with Miso Caramel, Cacao Nibs, Hazelnut and Vanilla. There’s also a fantastic Irish Cheese Plate with three great favourites: Durrus, Young Buck, & Gubbeen-more than enough for two to share. Roam: attentive but informal, simple but sophisticated. A city centre culinary gem.

This is by far the best dining experience I have had in a very long time. I cannot recommend Roam highly enough, the staff, the food, the service, and atmosphere were on another level.

Unreal food and staff so down to earth.

A great food experience accompanied by fine wine. The stout and treacle bread starter snack was fresh made. We enjoyed all our mains. We can recommend the duck, steak and lamb mains. To finish the Irish cheese board. The blue was a bit strong for our tastes so for the second cheese board we went for the brie. Great service from our main server Anthony. Great craic.

We picked Roam for our yearly family Xmas night out, so glad we did :) The friendliest people working there! Food unbelievable- bread as a snack to start is a must, they should sell it to take out. Starters of langoustines, scallops and venison were all excellent. Mains of duck, hake and lamb were delicious. The sides are massive so we couldn’t even manage dessert or cheese (and we have big appetites!) Lovely cocktails to start and good wine selection. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, have been recommending it to people and can’t wait to go back!

We visited Roam today and I can honestly say that this place is without doubt the best Food, service and experience I have had when dining out. I can’t remember enjoying food as much as I did today. I’ve been lucky enough to eat at a few Michelin Star restaurants in London and can honestly say that the food and Service received here is every bit as good if not better. The Waiters and Waitresses are both extremely knowledgeable and helpful but also make you feel very relaxed and welcome and every single element of food was absolutely delicious. The cocktails are also first class!! Ryan and the team are doing unbelievable things here and I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll be back again as quickly as I possibly can. Thanks folks 👍

Edits based on our dinner experience: I was very happy with this place before, but our dinner had outshined every expectation in full. Food was amazing, and so were the drinks. Wine is exceptionally well priced and is incredible. Amazing service too. Will be back as often as I possibly can.

The food is exceptional, easily up with the best restaurants in Belfast (which we've been to all the Michelin starred ones). It's a simple menu and we'll priced for the quality of food you are presented with. We tried the bread and mackerel taster, oh my, the bread was incredible, especially doused with the butter! The scallops to start were incredible. Then for main we went duck and lamb, both brilliant. We also ordered one portion of potatoes and veg as sides. These were both really big portions, both delicious but unless you're really hungry and if you had a taster and starter I would say you don't need these sides. Dessert was the chocolate thing (can't remember the name exactly!) And the flavour and textures were superb. The atmosphere is relaxed and low key, we were more than happy to spend nearly two hours there. The courses were served at a really nice pace, nothing rushed. Finally what shines as much as the food, even more maybe(!) was the staff! Really friendly, helpful and attentive. Third time at Roam. First two times were superb, food cocktails and service all fantastic. On most recent visit the food was pretty average and lacked seasoning, this was across 6 different dishes both starters and main. The medium rare steak was closer to medium well. Service was brilliant though. Maybe the chefs were having a bad night due to the Christmas rush.

Absolutely top notch food, service, drink, everything. Went here based on other reviews and the food felt Michelin Star quality without the price tag. Our waiter, Anthony, clearly had a passion for the food he was serving, knew the menu and made a great meal even better. Would highly recommend to anyone going to Belfast.

Just incredible all round, we had an amazing meal in Roam. All of the dishes we had were perfectly balanced and everything felt really well considered. I’m still thinking about the duck with that pure heaven velvety celeriac purée. We got three courses and I can’t pick a favourite. On top of the gorgeous meal, the staff were all so sound - professional and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list (got great recommendations) but also friendly and warm. Will definitely be going back

Delicious, well presented foods with amazing flavours. Delicious wine. I tried a Japanese wine for a complete change. Staff really friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The best dining experience I’ve had in Northern Ireland. The food was exquisite - fresh, thoughtful, well presented, and most of all, a pleasure to eat. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. It’s not cheap, of course, a snack, main, drink and dessert will set you back at least £40, but it’s worth every penny. Well done, Roam, and I shall see you again

Best lunch I've had in a long time

Visited roam last night. Had the veggie pithivier and a few cocktails. Nicest meal I've had in belfast same goes for the cocktails. Serving staff were really polite and welcoming. 10/10 will be back for a third time soon!

I've been twice and on both times the food and service have been exceptional. Lovely staff. Good wine list. Not crazy expensive and excellent value.

Absolutely wonderful, the food was amazing, the staff were friendly and helpful, then menu was perfect. However, if I had to nitpick, some salt for the chips and more Gravy/Jus would be appreciated. Apart from that it was perfect, I heartily recommend it to everyone.

How disappointing. As a studying WSET student, it’s so great to see a new restaurant on the scene in Belfast with a really well matched wine list. First impressions were superb, lovely staff and a nice atmosphere. The bottle of Beaujolais was chilled to temperature without even asking, after it was corked for us. The food arrived quickly but unfortunately my rare sirloin was medium-well. We were asked to leave our table to make space for the next party and moved to the bar for our desserts. Very polite and no problem for us! Until I was asked rather embarrassingly by a waiter to remove my water bottle from the bar as the owner said it “didn’t look good”. After spending almost £200 on dinner that was a real slap in the face. Left without dessert and without sampling the dessert wines unfortunately. Real sour taste left which is such a pity. Had planned a night out with my fellow students to work our way through the excellent wine menu, but we’ll look elsewhere.

Down a lane in Belfast lies a great culinary experience. Roam was our last stop on a foodie tour of NI, and it was our best meal. Perfectly balanced flavours and great ingredients make for delicious dishes. Go and find out for yourself, these guys deserve to be crazy busy.

Best food I’ve eaten in Belfast, lovely service 👌

We couldn’t decide between the snacks so we have all three, we loved the bread and tuna. The duck and lamb and sauces were Devine. One portion of the crispy hand cut chips was enough for both of us, the best chips I’ve tasted. The staff were the best, taking time to explain the food to you. Will come again.

So we went here last night for our anniversary and the service was terrible - the kitchen was backed up and they couldn't take our order for 30-40 mins. There's only about a dozen tables in the place, it was quite a frustrating start to the evening as we were hungry and didn't get our mains until about 9pm (we arrived at 8pm). Anyway, despite this I'm giving 5 stars because the food was AMAZING and the staff were lovely. Maybe the kitchen backs up because the chef is perfecting every dish. The stout and treacle bread was the nicest bread I've ever tasted. The raw beef snack was equally delicious. Then I had the lamb - fantastic! My wife got the pollock - equally fantastic! We finished up with some lovely espresso martinis and decided this is our new favourite place to eat.

Had a fabulous dinner, food really is excellent, sauces are particularly great. They need to up their potato game a bit, the crushed baby potatoes were more cremated than crushed. But we really didn't even need them the main dishes themselves were perfect. Staff very friendly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely be back.

It’s been over a month since we visited Roam and I’m still thinking about the tartare which is probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Stunning meal with immaculate service.

Very disappointed and disgusted, booked over the phone and confirmed for a Birthday surprise event. Upon arrival was told my booking was confirmed cancelled via email and a 2nd excuse was because I have no card details for online booking, how much worst can it get?! Hostess made a scene with all the staff while we waited for further confirmation of what happened with our booking! Offered a table at the bar for a fine dinning experience?! Absolute nightmare of an experience, never had such an embarrassing encounter in my life.

Amazing restaurant. Went for a birthday meal with friends and was blown away. We went for a recce ok the morning, and they were preparing food for opening. One of the staff came out, asked if we needed help, we said we'd booked for the evening and were looking forward to it. Wow, we were not disappointed. Raw beef starter, lamb main, and chocolate dessert, all accompanied by Irish craft IPA. Friends had steak and the hake, with scallops to start. The best service ever, great atmosphere and amazing food. Seriously, everyone should try this place. They deserve every success. 10/10

Went to Roam for lunch over the weekend. The food was incredible. There was five of us so we ended up ordering most of the menu and all of the dishes were stunning. The pork snack in particular was so so good. We were well looked after by the team there and they were happy to explain all the dishes and give recommendations.
