Taste Of Raj in Bolton

1 star I was going to a rugby match and it came an hour late it was aufull the kickoff was 8 I had to be the at 6:30 it was so long!

Well I've been going here for 20 yrs plus and thinking this will be the last one, Saturday 14 th Dec around 6 pm I ordered a create your own meal same order as always it arrived roughly 1 and half hrs later as told it would be 40 min to 1hr waiting. On arrival the salad wasn't in the bag or any onions, mango ,and mint sauce ,then I phoned and was told it was I wouldn't be phoning if it was ,then waiting a further 20 min wait. I had the chicken vindaloo and my wife had the korma the meat tasted chewy and uncooked, the French fries looked like they'd been cooked under a light very disappointing takeaway, really put doubts in my mind about this place .

We normally order from here and usually never had an issue however my partner fancied a curry as she only normally likes them from here, however the chicken wasn’t cooked fully through and there was strings of fat hanging from the chicken and blood

Never had a curry so lacking in taste in my whole life and I'm 66. Thought it might be my taste buds, but my wife said the same and she had a different curry. In addition it was cold. it arrived in cartons in a paper bag in a plastic bag, instead of a heat retaining bag. Sorry

Best Indian takeaway around!! And luckily on our doorstep almost. Really good food, never get it wrong, great value- please don’t change!

Food was lovely, just think the delivery charge is a bit excessive as the takeaway is only local.

Ordered chicken tikka masala along with side dishes , rice, nan etc. ordered on the phone and drove 5 mins round the corner and the food was already sat waiting for us. (Very quick we thought) I might also add it was sitting on top of a radiator. Once we arrived back home with the food - it was cold. 6 hours after eating the food I was on the toilet and being sick, hot temperature. This has lasted 48 hours. Do not buy.

Chicken was grizzly and the chicken chaat wasn’t up to scratch

delivered separately , my son had to wait an extra half hour because they forgot his food and when it did arrive it looked thrown in the tray, not acceptable at all.

We love the kebabs from here but we tried the curry’s tonight and we were so disappointed. The pathia sauce was really bland, not spicy and jelly like so wondered if it had been defrosted? Should have just eaten the mango chutney that came with the popadoms. Waited an hour for it as well. Never been so disappointed Definitely not coming back here

This take away is offering 40% off orders but it’s practically a 60% reduction in food. Onion bhajis were about the size of 4 sprouts. The curries had no more than 4 pieces of meat. Ordered a special that was chicken lamb and king prawns it contained no prawns. Definitely one of the worst curries I’ve ordered. Will never order again.

Its a local curry place, so no michelin stars expected here. However, the curries they serve up are nice. Yes, there is some variability when the same dish is ordered on different occasions, but not too bad. Its good value for money

Changed hands Looks the part but food very poor Had tikka sandwich on garlic nann and salad Dough was raw and undercooked in areas Soggy with the salad, chicken very bland They used to cook in a pan with onions and seasoning which also kept it hot Was Luke warm within 5 mins Onion baji again used to be really tasty nice and crisp and dry tonight god! Small, soggy, swimming in oil Paid £8 not exactly good value either They were busy with online orders but that does not excuse poor food

I've ordered from here numerous times and the food is ALWAYS excellent. Easily the best Indian food for miles. Large portions, fair prices, friendly staff. You cannot go wrong. Great work guys!

I order for here regularly and normally lovely tonight was not that good it was late the chips were hard and cold. Didn't enjoy it disappointed 😞

Spot on curry and according to our daughter a banging kebab. Delivery was earlier than expected by a very friendly driver.

The food was really good and delivered on time

Used to be good but now realised its one to avoid. Promised a refund for an incorrect order. Waited 5 days as the boss wasn't in to do it, called again, Promised a phone call, still waiting another 5 days later. Now ignoring my calls.

The delivery was fast and the food was piping hot and delicious. Also the portions are very generous.

Disappointed with the food, pathia sauce lacked flavour and was jelly like, that suggests it’s been stood for a while.

The other food I ordered was nice, the only disappointment was how tasteless the bhuna was. It also didn’t have the usual colour and texture of a bhuna sauce. This was a main meal wasted. For that reason, I won’t be ordering from here again.

Been here twice now. First one i got delivered. Second one i collected. Food came when expected on delivery and was ready within the 20 mins on collection. Portions are generous, price is good and the food was delicious.

Ordered from here many times and have always been very happy with what we get, the food is always very tasty and decent portions, sometimes we order the monster kebab and it is worth every penny! One of my favourite takeaways!

Lovely food BUT the last two times we have ordered, we have ordered extra garlic mayo (and paid for it) and it hasn’t arrived, it isn’t worth calling back for them to bring it to us. This week there was chilli sauce on the naan sandwich which we didn’t ask for.

Terrible! Samosas are bought in frozen ones , 4 pieces of chicken in the masala which was totally bland, chutney was watered down. Tiny portions! Avoid

Don't normally write reviews but they forgot the poppadoms and all the food was cold and at £40 waste of money all put in the bin.

Cracking service last night. We ordered whilst out and were a little later back than expected so missed original delivery. Completely my fault but a quick call to the shop and redelivered in 10 mins. Food was great too

Lived here over a decade and really struggled with Indian take aways. We found one, but its now closed, tried loads and wouldn't leave any feedback, nothing very good. Ordered for 3, and all 3 were so very very happy with our meal. It was absolutely beautiful, and the staff are friendly. Thank you for tonights meal, really enjoyed it.

Best takeaway curries I've had. Some places can be a little greasy, some places half the curries taste the same or there's hardly any meat in them. Here - it's the opposite. Each is full of flavour, meat (if you order it, of course) and zero grease! Highly recommend.

Great food, fast delivery, will use again

Sorry, but this has to be said. I found Taste of Raj on Deliveroo and ordered poppadoms, dips, starters, 2x main courses, sides, rice and naan bread. Quite a significant spend. Delivery was supposed to be within 35 minutes. After 1 hour I rang to ask where our order was and was told that it was "being prepared and coming soon". As always, where food orders are concerned, I didn't go OTT on the phone regarding my displeasure at hearing this, as I don't fancy having anyone who has had to deal with my complaint taking it out on the food (if you get my drift) because who knows?! When it arrived about 20 minutes later it was ok. Not terrible, not great, just mediocre, so I don't know what the reviews about the brilliant quality are about tbh - there are tastier Indian takeaways in Westhoughton. What the issue really is here is the fact that when it was eventually delivered, it wasn't by a Deliveroo driver. It was delivered by their regular in-house delivery man. I could have gone online and paid significantly less by ordering directly from their website if I had wanted to contend with the timeframes of their in-house delivery schedule. What was the point in using Deliveroo‽ The only thing that stopped me exercising my right to claim a refund due to the length of time the order took to arrive was the fact that, with small businesses currently having to contend with increased costs on raw ingredients and energy bills, I didn't want Taste of Raj to have to fork out for a free meal. However, they do need to take this review into consideration and not be so disingenuous in future. Don't advertise on Deliveroo at massively hyped prices and promise food within their timeframes when you know that you are using your own regular delivery driver and that customers can get the exact same menu in the same timeframe by ordering from your own website and pay far less for it.

Even though it was a little late, the food more than made up for it.

Vindaloo mixed tikka, sauce was so sweet tasted like it had a ton of sugar in it, lamb was hard and chewy, chicken was nice. Chips looked like bottom of the barrel, tiny and crispy. Naan was ok. Ended up binning half of it, was too sweet and sickly

Changing my review as I've just ordered a kebab box and the Donner tasted off, tasted like vinegar was horrid mid week order I presume that Donner has been on since the weekend, ashame because usually one of the better takeaways around here

Curry and rice was lovely but was let down by the onion bhaji and naan bread. Bhaji weren't very nice and the naans were cold.
