Taste Of Raj in Bolton

Used to be good but now realised its one to avoid. Promised a refund for an incorrect order. Waited 5 days as the boss wasn't in to do it, called again, Promised a phone call, still waiting another 5 days later. Now ignoring my calls.

Used this takeaway 20 years+ always excellent

Been here twice now. First one i got delivered. Second one i collected. Food came when expected on delivery and was ready within the 20 mins on collection. Portions are generous, price is good and the food was delicious.

Ordered from here many times and have always been very happy with what we get, the food is always very tasty and decent portions, sometimes we order the monster kebab and it is worth every penny! One of my favourite takeaways!

Excellent food and fast friendly service

Set meal for two fabulous quality with vast menu choices and thoroughly enjoyable. Taste of Raj keep competitive pricing whilst not compromising on dishes I presume they're footfall is regular repeat customers .

Always a great meal promptly made and ready for collection friendly staff don't go anywhere else for my takeaway anymore.

Ordered on just eat, After phoning up twice to check order it finally arrived nearly 2 hours later, Was rude on the phone saying it was out for delivery 25 mins later Ordered the chops which were burned and went in the bin, Wont be ordering again

Sorry, but this has to be said. I found Taste of Raj on Deliveroo and ordered poppadoms, dips, starters, 2x main courses, sides, rice and naan bread. Quite a significant spend. Delivery was supposed to be within 35 minutes. After 1 hour I rang to ask where our order was and was told that it was "being prepared and coming soon". As always, where food orders are concerned, I didn't go OTT on the phone regarding my displeasure at hearing this, as I don't fancy having anyone who has had to deal with my complaint taking it out on the food (if you get my drift) because who knows?! When it arrived about 20 minutes later it was ok. Not terrible, not great, just mediocre, so I don't know what the reviews about the brilliant quality are about tbh - there are tastier Indian takeaways in Westhoughton. What the issue really is here is the fact that when it was eventually delivered, it wasn't by a Deliveroo driver. It was delivered by their regular in-house delivery man. I could have gone online and paid significantly less by ordering directly from their website if I had wanted to contend with the timeframes of their in-house delivery schedule. What was the point in using Deliveroo‽ The only thing that stopped me exercising my right to claim a refund due to the length of time the order took to arrive was the fact that, with small businesses currently having to contend with increased costs on raw ingredients and energy bills, I didn't want Taste of Raj to have to fork out for a free meal. However, they do need to take this review into consideration and not be so disingenuous in future. Don't advertise on Deliveroo at massively hyped prices and promise food within their timeframes when you know that you are using your own regular delivery driver and that customers can get the exact same menu in the same timeframe by ordering from your own website and pay far less for it.

Fantastic curry as usual. Just wondering if you have stopped doing king prawns.

Vindaloo mixed tikka, sauce was so sweet tasted like it had a ton of sugar in it, lamb was hard and chewy, chicken was nice. Chips looked like bottom of the barrel, tiny and crispy. Naan was ok. Ended up binning half of it, was too sweet and sickly

Changing my review as I've just ordered a kebab box and the Donner tasted off, tasted like vinegar was horrid mid week order I presume that Donner has been on since the weekend, ashame because usually one of the better takeaways around here

We’ve been ordering from here for a long time and we have never been disappointed. Food taste really good, portions are really generous and delivery is reasonable quick considering we don’t live around the corner. This is our favourite take away when we want to treat ourselves. Highly recommended

My 1st time here, only because I read some good reviews on here previously, they weren't wrong either. Ordered on line. Nice welcome when I went to pick it up, looks a nice clean and organised place. I'm from Yorkshire, so I know my curry, everything I try on this side of the Pennines is compared to my Bradford experiences. I got Chicken Tikka Madras, first impression was that it was a bit overpowered with the smell and taste of Cardamom, but that soon went after the 1st mouthful, the chicken was beautiful, nice big tender chunks, too much chicken though imo, I'd rather have a bit less chicken and a bit more sauce/gravy, but it was still nice and full of flavour. I got egg rice, which was good too, and I got one Chapati, which just melted in the mouth. One of the best places I've tried around here, so I highly recommend it, already looking forward to my next curry from them.

Absoulety the best curry I've had since moving to the area. We order at least once a week and won't go anywhere else. If it was up up the other half and money allowed I think we would order every day 😂

We collect so I can’t comment on delivery but food has always been piping hot and a really good standard. You can order via the app which is really easy to use or online. Really tasty food. This was the first time we have had an Indian takeaway from this restaurant following a recommendation - we have stuck to the same place for years and thought we would give the Raj a try. The food was superb, probably the best take away we have had, will definitely be back!!

Not very happy food was good BUT FORGOT some of the order i rang twice to confirm my order had to wait 15 mins longer for the rest of my order it landed with no apology i explained to the shop th by the time the rest landed my meal was cold so a waste of money really

Had a takeaway from here tonight for the 1st time and we will definitely be ordering again. We didnt have delivery we did collection . The currys where so full of flavour, food was hot as it was all cooked fresh and great value for money and the staff where super friendly definitely recommend

Mixed chicken and dinner on naan was bad. Been here a few times and it’s always been good. However, the dinner was cold, felt like tyre leather and was inedible. Also, the chicken was very dry and Luke warm.

Food was ok. It was not as good as we expected. A lot of it tasted more unseasoned than usual Indian food tastes. It needs more seasoning. I wouldnt really order from here again due to the lack of indian flavours in the food. As an indian in quite disappointed

Had a gorgeous Christmas Day curry . Thanks for the popadoms, salads and sundries surprise. The peshwari naan was excellent. First time we have ever had a Christmas Day curry and it was fab.

Would you like a kebab with your hot sauce sir! Kebab was absolutely drowned in sauce it literally was only eatable with a knife and fork it was just a mushy mess, will not be bothering again.

The food was horrible, shikh kebab was hard and flavourless . All the food was full of red colouring and the mixed kebab was covered in chips , a heart attack in a box .

We came from Amsterdam on holiday to visit relatives and I wanted to get my Dutch husband a nice Bhuna from a good restaurant in the Bolton area. We are used to trying Suriname and Moroccan dishes in Holland and I wanted to let him try something different. I got the vegetable Bhuna and he had the lamb Bhuna and we both absolutely loved it. It’s Devine and tasty and full of flavor. I have had Bhuna from other restaurants in a different area and by far this is the best. So much more flavorful. The delivery was so fast, I didn’t expect it to be done so quickly! We will be ordering again in the future. I would love to try another type of curry next time.

Got a monster kebab an not impressed, special sauce with nothing special about it and more oil on my nan than in asda.

I would give this zero stars but it won't let me.Chips on top of kebab and the hot sauce poured over the top,making soggy chips,absolute rubbish.Salad also mixed in with soggy chips,who wants warm salad.Should have kept everything separate

We have used this takeaway a couple of times during lockdown and it's been great! The food is really tasty, highly recommend the Parathas, and the service is super friendly. Delivery time was around 45 minutes but the food was well worth the wait. Will definitely continue to use this great place!

We’ve just tried Taste of Raj for the first time after seeing good reviews. Placed our order on Facebook Messenger, first checking if they would deliver to my locality which they did. We decided to try one of their set menus so we got a varied taste of their food. They only open at 5pm and our order was delivered to our door at 5.30pm which was a good service. The delivery driver was wearing a face mask so met Covid safety measures. The food was hot on arrival and everything was really good. We were very pleased with Raj and will try them again. Thank You.

Food always excellent and great value for money.

1 hour and 50 minutes for food to turn up on a Monday night. Then the food arrives luke warm. Will not be ordering from here again anytime soon. Shocking service.

We moved into this neighbourhood recently and came across this shop yesterday during our walk - and popped in today. The customer service was extremely friendly - I asked for recommendations and Mo and the chef made recommendations based on my preference - event went the extra mile to make it slightly aberrant so that it suited what I wished for. I am thrilled to say that the food lived up to the mark, and beyond - I ordered the Gorkha from the Chef's special, and my husband ordered the Passanda - and we came home and was delighted to see such a large portion which tasted absolutely delicious!! We are both planning a second curry night tomorrow with the leftovers. To be honest, reading some of the reviews below on delays, I can vouch for the staff to say how extremely busy they were, even on a Sunday evening. I collected mine, but if you don't mind the wait, I assure you the food is worth it!

We ordered this take away over 2 hours ago. We have spoken to this take away twice since I placed the order. Each time “the order is 5 mins away”. As an NHS worker who was gifted this take away by a grateful member of the public, its so upsetting that I’m still waiting over 2 hours for 2 starters, 2 mains a rice and naan. How difficult can it be to send this 2 miles? I’ve asked for a refund but been refused. Very unhappy and very hungry. Don’t waste your time and hard earned money on this place.

We ordered online using the app, we were informed it works be 90 minutes for delivery. It was a family meal with two young kids - it eventually turned up nearly three hours later and we had already had to feed the kids wasted £30 on poor delivery -

Delivery was 30 minutes late, not a problem due to the current situation if the food was worth the wait but it wasn't. Everything was cold. Chips were soggy. Two of the orders were incorrect. Burger was bland, I've bad better microwave burgers. I tried feeding the remainder chips to a magpie in the garden but even she wouldn't eat it. Piss poor.

Placed order on Saturday afternoon for their first delivery slot of 6pm. Checked my phone at 5:55 to see an email saying my order had been cancelled. Very annoyed as now everywhere else is busy and is going to be hours before we can get food. If they had the courtesy to call it wouldn't have been so bad. Never using again

Sorry to say that this place is terrible. 2 hours to be delivered. Cold and tasteless food. The worst take away I have ever had. There are far better take aways in Westhoughton and I suggest people give this place a big miss.

Ordered a takeaway on 10th June 2019, it was delivered within the hour. The mixed starter was absolutely delicious especially the seekh kebab and chicken. The main dish of chicken was beautifully spiced and extremely tender. Salad and sauce was included and the rice was perfect. The Keema nan was also very tasty. 5 star food!

The main dish was extremely greasy to the point it was inedible.... the food swam in a bed of grease. All you could fee on the teeth was a layer of grease. So the whole dish was wasted.

I have been using TOR since the early 90's, there food and service is exceptional. Ordered a South Indian Garlic chicken last night, never tried it before. Probably the best I have ever had. Well done guys. Don't post many reviews on here, but last night's meal deserves one.
