Taste of Italy in Edinburgh, City of

Probably the best of all the places that me & my wife ate in Edinburgh. We had garlic cheesy bread and mac and cheese bites for starters which were lovely and not too filling. For mains we had Spaghetti and Meatballs and Minute steak on crispy chips. The meatballs especially were absolutely delicious and the peppercorn sauce really complicated the steak and chips. We didn’t get the servers name but they were from Swansea so hopefully they see this as they were brilliant and so friendly. Was also incredibly good value for money! Highly recommend!

So pleased we stopped here for lunch. Had the most amazing pizza & cheese burger. Authentic Italian food with excellent quality ingredients. Super clean restaurant with very welcoming staff. Dog friendly too. Thank you for a great experience.

Order a full scotish, fried egg was burnt tattle scone was soggy hash brown soggy bread was old mystery liquid around the take away box absolutely disgusting

The quality of the food was amazing and the price appeals to what you get perfectly. In my opinion not overpriced. All the service was really nice towards us, and willing to help at any moment. The music was enjoyable, while the lighting created a really cozy and intimate. Really recommended and definitely will come again.

Perfect little retreat for a nice dinner. Right next to The Glasshouse on a very busy street near the Edinburgh Castle. The service was prompt and the people very friendly. Food was perfect and very generous. Price was reasonable and restaurant was not overcrowded. My wife and I both shared spaghetti bolognese and bruschetta and it was wonderful. Would highly recommend this little hideaway from all the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.

Great atmosphere, both children and adults enjoyed the restaurant and thoroughly good food. A bit of noise and waiting but it's worth it. Try it..

Had arancini and caprese salad both really tasty less very disappointing looked good but that's it For me I would say avoid much better out there

We’ve visited the beautiful library just beside and we decided to eat something sweet and some coffee. The owner is from Italy and very friendly. We got a double espresso, tiramisu, canoli and some aperol-spritz . Everything was buonissimo! Highly recommended for an authentic Italian food!

Very good dinner with the really delicious and hearty Caesar salad and super crispy fries! Staff caring about their customers and I was served quickly. The next time I visit Edinburgh, I will be happy to come back!

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Marriott Courtyard — just next door. On our first afternoon, we came for a quick bite — sandwiches, burgers, and drinks. The food was fresh and delicious! This restaurant ended up being our go-to place for a bite to eat. And their house-made tiramisu is heavenly! Don’t hesitate to come here because of its “fast-food” looking exterior.

Had breakfast here and service was excellent, laid back.

Excellent muffins. We tried the banana one and the lemon one. We loved them both. Fluffy and tasty. Very good attention

I live in Italy myself and to be honest, it feels exacly like it does in Italy, they've got a great taste of music and the food is simply fantastic! The crew is super kind and they always keep everything clean and simple, the food comes super quickly too! Overall I would give the resturant an 11/10

A delightful Italian restaurant in the Gayfield Square neighborhood, also affectionately known as Little Italy. The food and service are superior, and the staff friendly and efficient. Myl lunch was Penne al Salmone, pasta in tomato cream sauce with smoked salmon. It was delicious. Pick up some cannoli on the way back to your B&B.

The staff was very friendly. We entered shortly before closing time and still got our food (we ordered quickly). The pizza was very delicious and freshly prepared. A sure recommendation.

This is the best Italian place I’ve been to in the UK so far - on all fronts. The food was amazing, everything was really clean, especially the toilets, and the servers were very friendly and kept asking us if we needed anything. Good ambiance too.

I went recently and paid £10.18 for a cappuccino and a piece of cake. They were OK but it’s the last time I go, it’s not affordable.

The food was good, not the best pasta I've ever had, but I was overall very happy, it was a good pasta. Friendly personnel and pleasing prices! I would definitely recommend to visit.

The cozy place, they accommodated 6 adults at a very tight table. But the food, which was incredible, made everything take a backseat. Incredible pizzas and pastas! Super recommended! It would be nice if they improved their cutlery, since cutting with knives was quite a feat.

Busy Saturday lunch. Hadn't booked but would suggest doing so for future. Limited gluten free and dairy free options as all cooked on open kitchen area however I managed OK from choice available. Happy to come again. My only gripe because I'm not used to it is the optional 10% service charge automatically added to bill. I like to choose what I leave and I do so based on my personal experience of enjoyment. In this case I was Happy to go that bit extra but I would have given 5 pds on this bill if it had been my decision.

During our stay in Edinburgh, every morning we stopped in this place to taste a good Italian espresso. Most of the time we were served by two Italian women who brought us coffee along with a glass of water. All very welcome, and the espresso was really good, especially for being in Edinburgh.

Got there past brunch time but I still got some breakfast dishes to eat upon asking. Very good food!

I order from here quite regularly, really not happy with today’s order the carbonara firstly I had asked for penne instead of spaghetti, it was bland and flavourless. Also the bruschetta was drowned in balsamic vinegar.

I have enjoyed eating here for my four nights in Edinburgh a very busy restaurant service was quick and friendly the food was very good I had burger chips pizza and pasta as a visitor from Canada I was very pleased. Highly recommended.

The first restaurant to visit in edinburg. I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was surprised to find out how good their food was. We ordered pizza and a sandwich with a mug of soup of the day. Everything was delicious and of course, the lattes. Very friendly staff and good service!

Disappointing takeaway meal. Tasteless overcooked penne, just about passable Caprese salad, okay pizza and bruschetta (let down by being covered with a sort of syrupy sweet balsamic glaze), very good tiramisu.

Great service, great food and the chef is very considerate regarding food request.

We ended up here on a Friday evening after a few other options were full. We were welcomed in and offered a high table with the promise of a move to a normal table as soon as possible. All the staff were super helpful and friendly. The arancini was delicious. Pizza was thin and crispy with plenty of cheese. Husband loved the meatballs. We loved the traditional Italian desserts of canolo and torta del Nona.

The breakfast was awful, slow service, cold food and greasy bacon!

Pizza burned …took a tip without asking !!

Ordered a couple of sandwiches via uber eats. Crumbed chicken sandwich was tasteless and dry. Both my wife and son who had it got mild food poisoning a few hours later. It was the only thing they ate all day so it couldn't have been anything else. My Sandwich was fine.

We had pastas and they were mm! amazing! (and pretty much substantial!). But the coffee.. the coffee was - tadam! - really good! I'm sold! Besides, the place is cosy and the staff was very nice. On the list!

Last visited February 2024 Dropped by for coffee and dessert, so tiramisu it was. Good portion and rather tasty. Did not try anything else this time round. Service was good.

Coming here to have a quick lunch on my Edinburgh exploration. The place is close to the commercial centre exactly on Leith Walk. I take a Sant’Elia panino with a fries and a latte to end with. The latte was one of the biggest I ever had and the panini was incredible. I really suggest you to try the Sant’Elia one if you coming here. Staff super gentle and friendly. 5/5

I had the tagliatelle del chef, garlic bread with cheese, olives, red wine and coffee. Great friendly staff, quick service and really tasty food. This was my third visit and I'll definitely be back again.

The chicken panini was cold, they charge you a service fee on top! Chef is polish and not Italian. It's a bit of a scam here. Been here a couple of times there is always something wrong here.

Stopped here for food on a very cold and wet night. Warm restaurant and good choice menu. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again and recommend. Food was delivered quickly and very enjoyable.

Portions are massive, great after a day sightseeing. Was a favourite from the first night of our trip so we made a point of going back on the second day.
