Gusto Restaurant & Bar in Edinburgh, City of

This was my first time in Scotland, and I've been on the lookout for a place to try some new things! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and was swiftly seated. The decor inside is stunning, as well as the glowing tabletops. The service is wonderful thus far. Airlie was my server, she was amazing! Everything on the menu is fairly priced, considering the portion sizes are way above par. I did order a Tutti Frutti Mocktail, and it tastes freshly made and not frozen like so many places do. You can tell they want you to have a great experience. I went with the garlic and rosemary bread and I am surprised at how light it is, but the flavor definitely pops in your mouth. I've eaten half of it before the main course even arrived. I got the crab fettuccini. The service is extremely quick. My main course arrived within maybe 15 minutes of sitting down. Fresh grated Parmesan on top. The waitress recommended the risotto, and I can now see why. The pasta is the perfect temperature, coupled with the crab and Parmesan, it's the perfect blend to make your tastebuds dance. I can't stop licking my lips haha. So happy to say that I had room for dessert! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was recommended, and yet again, another perfect choice. Toffee was poured on top of the dessert, and it was hot, making the dish that much more enjoyable. Ok. I not only LOVE the food, but I finished all three dishes completely. They worked off each other very nicely and when I don't even have leftovers to take home, it is THAT good. Overall a joyful and delicious experience! If you ever take a trip or you are LOCAL to Scotland, definitely stop in here. The service is some of the best, if not the best, I've ever received at a restaurant, especially considering it's aesthetically upscale and the menu seems to be crafted with lots of thought and heart.

We had a seafood risotto (smoked fish and shrimp), which was very delicious. 9/10. We asked the employee to ask the chef to make it halal for us. 👍 The mashed potatoes were very delicious. 8/10. The employee was quick, kind, and respectful. His name is Farrell.

The whole dining experience was lovely. Our server Chloe was attentive, kind & made our meal even more enjoyable!

Food was good, service not so good. Had a 2 hour booking, took an age to get the main courses. We then got kicked out before we could order dessert as apparently there was no time, even though this was down to the slow service from the venue. One of our party was injured from a defective hand dryer and bleeding but this didn't seem to be taken as a serious issue. Cant fault the food but all in all, a disappointing end to what started off a nice evening.

Disappointed. Visited a month ago and food was good. Today ordered the same crab fettuccine and it was tasteless, cold, pasta was stuck together and dry. They didn’t have scallops ravioli which was on the menu. Definitely will try a different venue next time.

I had my birthday dinner at Gusto, and it was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Danielle was our server and she truly made the night special. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and upbeat—her positive energy added so much to the evening. From making sure everything was just right to going out of her way to make us feel welcome, Danielle was amazing. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was top-tier. Thank you, Gusto (and especially Danielle!) for making my birthday so memorable. I’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely loved this place! We came back 3 times over the course of one week while on our trip! The staff was super friendly and VERY accommodating with the numerous allergies we had at the table! Highly highly recommend!

We came here for dinner without knowing the place or reading any reviews. We’re Spanish, and we were treated wonderfully despite our English. Reece was very kind to us and took great care of us, also recommending things to eat. The food was really good. Without a doubt, if I come back to the city, I’ll come back here. Thank you, Reece!

Ordered a pasta and it was pretty bad. The sauce was more like a Mexican salsa than an Italian red sauce. It’s also so dark inside at night. Disappointed.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to our party of five for dinner. I'm knocking off one star because the Bucatini Carbonara was a little dry, but everything else was amazing! Excellent cocktails, even non-alcoholic ones were good. The appetizers were spectacular. Best calamari that I can remember!

We were served by Maddie who was absolutely brilliant! She was so lovely and helpful and made the whole experience a pleasure. The food and atmosphere were delicious too. We will be back!

We were served by Alexandra and her level of attentiveness was superb. The restaurant had several large parties and she made sure we were looked after brilliantly, service was fast,, with a genuine smile. She was first class. Food came fast and was really good too.

Was a walk in for lunch while in New Town. Food was great and our hostess Alexandra was a sweetheart. We couldn’t have ask for a more friendly face and better service.

Despite the many guests, she always had a smile on her face, was helpful and had a kind word for everyone. You can tell straight away that she puts her heart into it. Great food... Great atmosphere.... It amazing service! We went here for our first restaurant in Edinburgh and it didn't disappoint! First of all my wife is gluten free and they had a really good GF pizza crust, GF bread for hummus and many many other options. Second, the atmosphere was electric and seemed for of energy! Third, the service was amazing!!! Alexandra deserves a raise! She was awesome! We asked her a question not related to the restaurant (a good bar to go to) and she spent time to ask others about their recommendations! Just great service!!! But seriously if you own this establishment, make sure people like her stay here!

Alexandra was great! Such a good place, and so wonderful with gluten free. Brought little sticks that said allergy with all my food. Great bread and pizza crust. Loved it here.

The food was delicious! We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant is beautiful, very clean and welcoming. My husband had the pork cutlet and I had the lasagna. Both were absolutely delicious. Alexandra was absolutely amazing! Best waitress in Edinburgh!

Very disappointed with our recent visit. It was not the Gusto I expected. The staff were not interested or even friendly ( with one exception) , the food was well below par , the garlic bread was not the one what we ordered but waiter apologised downstairs . On going upstairs the child’s fish batter was hard my granddaughter couldn’t eat it ,the chips tasteless , carbonara was very dry and far too peppery . The coffee order came with only one coffee and no milk for the tea!! Even when the waiter cleared the table and half the food was uneaten he did not ask if anything was wrong with the food which made me think it was a normal situation and yes we could have complained but felt it would have fell on deaf ears with the couldn’t be bothered attitude we were experiencing.

We came here to celeb rate a friends hen do and we were pleasantly surprised by how great the food was, but Megan our server was the best part. She was super attentive, polite and incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. 10/10- thank you Megan :)

We went for dinner for my hen party and I felt so special. Our server Megan was incredibly attentive and gave such exceptional customer service and genuine care and interest in my wedding day and making sure I had all the drinks I needed. Couldn’t have any better customer service, food was really tasty and will be coming back here as soon as I return to Edinburgh on my holidays. The cocktails were really good I had the lychee martini. Thank you so much to the staff and recognition to Megan. They made my evening so special and memorable.

An early sunny evening sitting outside Gusto. Such good food, atmosphere and excellent waiter service. I had a pulled pork pasta with fennell, chilli and shallots. Highly recommend.

Very nice decoration. Good food. They served us quickly and well even though we didn't have a reservation. We didn't like the desserts very much, but they were not generous.

Choose Gusto for a birthday lunch for my 17 old niece as she wanted pasta and the reviews were glowing. It did not disappoint. The arribiata and Ragu were both delicious, as was the mozzarella garlic bread pizza. The atmosphere and the decor were fab and the waiter (can't remember his name) was lovely. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Absolutely brilliant night out with my wife, fantastic food (great pizza in particular) and really friendly service. We got served by Kris and Madi, who were both great. Super friendly, always on hand when the drinks got low and they both contributed to a really welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Service was amazing! Simon was our server and took care of the dinner at every level. Food and food suggestions were also on point. the unique improvement I would suggest would be on the Bruschetta.

I ordered crab linguine. The portion was small and pretty tasteless so I thought I would give dessert a try so I ordered pistachio creme brûlée just to see if it would make up to my first experience. Sadly it didn’t. Don’t think I would return. Atmosphere was good and the young waiter was friendly and attentive.

Went our first night in Edinburgh and it was great! Kriztian was a great waiter, took our allergies into account, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the bruschetta and pastas.

Visité para una pizza auténtica y no fue decepcionado, la comida era increíble de principio a fin y las pizzas eran frescas y sabrosas y genuinamente estilo italiano El servicio fue fantástico y no podía culpar a ningún miembro del equipo en absoluto. El ambiente y la decoración también eran geniales y te hicieron sentir que estabas en un establecimiento de clase muy alta, sin embargo, esto no se reflejó en el precio de la comida, que era muy razonable de hecho. Sin duda recomendaría y sin duda volvería a visitar

Used to eat here a few time a week, years ago, and having not been in over a year I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Simon was excellent as were his colleagues who looked after us from the second we arrived. The menu is refreshed and the food is still excellent. Highly recommend, especially if you’ve not been in a while.

Excellent meal! The Hummous and homemade crackers were great. The chicken was grilled perfectly - was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. And the tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had. Our service by Pharrell was incredible.

El restaurante en sí tiene un ambiente muy agradable. Nuestro primer servidor era amable y acogedor, así que más allá. Entonces empezaron nuestros problemas. Pedí una variedad de entrantes que llegaron bien y luego a mitad de ellos apareció otro servidor con nuestros platos principales (toda la pasta). Le dijo que no habíamos terminado los entrantes (claramente visibles para ella) y a regañadientes se ofreció a llevarlos de vuelta a la cocina. Le dije que los pusiera sobre la mesa, pero al probarlos estaban todos fríos. Los envié de vuelta y 15 minutos más tarde me dieron unos frescos. No hay oferta de parmesano, no se ofrece ningún utensilio para repartir los lados de la ensalada y trozos de concha de cangrejo en la lingüina. Nos dieron una botella de vino gratis, pero habría preferido una comida muy agradable con la familia

We booked for my daughters 18th in February, I was very anxious as it was a large party (27 guests) and I had been left feeling like a nuisance when trying to book with another restaurant. Someone recommended Gousto, it was night and day from the minute I called I was welcomed. Nothing was a bother, the girl I spoke to Emma was making me feel very excited about it. I was still worried about how the evening would go with such a lot of people but the staff and atmosphere was 100% it was such a brilliant night and my Daughter enjoyed her 18th there. I have sung Goustos praises to all my clients. Well done, and thank you for all the help and to all the friendly staff xxx

A little bit of sun in Edinburgh & your staff think it's appropriate to leave the main door wide open. It's absolutely baltic in here. Complained we are cold & got moved upstairs which is also absolutely baltic. It's now 6.20pm, the main door is still wide open & surely everyone in here is frozen. Absolutely ridiculous.

Took a friend here for lunch …. The place was freezing cold, no other diners and the pasta has to be the worst I have ever had. It was so hard and dry. Not a good carbonara. Definitely won’t be back.
