Gusto Restaurant & Bar in Edinburgh, City of

Excellent meal! The Hummous and homemade crackers were great. The chicken was grilled perfectly - was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. And the tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had. Our service by Pharrell was incredible.

Used to eat here a few time a week, years ago, and having not been in over a year I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Simon was excellent as were his colleagues who looked after us from the second we arrived. The menu is refreshed and the food is still excellent. Highly recommend, especially if you’ve not been in a while.

Great night, very well looked after by Reece and Chris. 8 of us, fussy, loud and demanding but service was excellent. Food was great, thank you Gusto!

We booked for my daughters 18th in February, I was very anxious as it was a large party (27 guests) and I had been left feeling like a nuisance when trying to book with another restaurant. Someone recommended Gousto, it was night and day from the minute I called I was welcomed. Nothing was a bother, the girl I spoke to Emma was making me feel very excited about it. I was still worried about how the evening would go with such a lot of people but the staff and atmosphere was 100% it was such a brilliant night and my Daughter enjoyed her 18th there. I have sung Goustos praises to all my clients. Well done, and thank you for all the help and to all the friendly staff xxx

A little bit of sun in Edinburgh & your staff think it's appropriate to leave the main door wide open. It's absolutely baltic in here. Complained we are cold & got moved upstairs which is also absolutely baltic. It's now 6.20pm, the main door is still wide open & surely everyone in here is frozen. Absolutely ridiculous.

Waiter, Simon, gave great service. Would always come back.

Took a friend here for lunch …. The place was freezing cold, no other diners and the pasta has to be the worst I have ever had. It was so hard and dry. Not a good carbonara. Definitely won’t be back.

Gusto is absolutely great. The food is top quality, the atmosphere is cool, the music is suave and the service is efficient. Our server Reece was fantastic.

Had a group meal for a birthday, we got charged for tap water, then got "here's a special treat cos its your birthday " never ordered it, then it got added to the bill.. water Is FREE!

Good food and menu goes a bit beyond the basic Italian. Quite expensive but that's a result of the location.

Walked by Guato and was drawn in with its beautiful atmosphere. The sourdough pizza sealed the deal for me! The stag was extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely eat here again!

Working lunch, service was exemplary, great atmosphere. Food took a little bit of time to be served, 3 of 4 meals were very good but one pizza was a little over done, staff rectified situation well. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Never disappointed with a visit to gusto, and tonight was no different. Danielle made us feel very welcome and the service as always was first class. The food tonight was excellent, just what we needed after a trip to Murrayfield

Popped into restaurant primarily to kill time while in Edinburgh for an early evening meeting. Had a lovely late lunch in an impeccable restaurant with very professional and attentive service!

the service was smiley, the atmosphere was great and the food portions were ginormous. We did go as a part of company meal and had pre ordered from a set menu. The Margarita was yum and authentic enough, so well done to the bartender.

Fabulous authentic Italian food

The fillet was cooked to perfection and the service from our waiter was exceptional. All round one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. ( I'm a chef and hard to please so thank you very much)

A very cool looking restaurant with unreasonable prices for the portions of the food. (Avoid the tiny lasagna if you are actually hungry. You'll leave as hungry as the moment you entered the restaurant).

Excellent food, the pizza was great as was the salad. The waiter Simão was very friendly and attentive, great service!!!

Amazing service, We had Danielle as a server as she was lovely and attentive. Had a great time only downside was with it being a saturday night it was very loud and hard to hear the servers and ourselves without being over the table. Can’t be helped that it’s a hot spot, Food was spot on just very filling.

Fantastic food, great service by Airlie. Return visit and still the same great restaurant we remember from 12 years ago.

Danielle did such an amazing job taking care of us! It was my birthday and I'm terrible at making decisions and she was so incredibly helpful and attentive, and her suggestions were very on point. We had the garlic and rosemary focaccia to start, which was great, and then the lasagna, which was super rich, and would mushroom risotto, which was exactly what I was looking for and incredibly delicious. Highly recommend!

Second visit to Gustos Edinburgh - booked 6 months in advance after our first fabulous visit and we were not disappointed. Stunning bruschetta, focaccia and pizza (which they kindly customised to our taste). The biscoff martini for pudding was excellent 😁 Will be booking again for our next theatre trip 😁

Very nice food, portions where larger than I expected

This was a gift experience present that was given to us for Christmas. Let me just say, the whole visit from start to finish was superb. Friendly, chatty, shown quick to our table, lovely smiles from all the staff. I would recommend this establishment wholeheartedly. This was our first visit and will definately be back again. The food was delicious. And I'm fussy !!!!! Wonderful. Can I mention Alexandra especially. She was lovely and made our night lovely. A credit to the company.

Came with my girlfriend for a valentines weekend in Edinburgh and we couldn’t have asked for better service from Meghan! Honestly from start to finish was the most amazing experience would definitely come back!

Alexandra was a great server, mains and deserts were a LOT better than expected and the tiramisu was miles above anything I've ever tried before.

We were rather late in booking a restaurant for valentine's however gusto welcomed us and followed up with fantastic service accompanied by good food that was delivered to us by exceptional service provided by our waitress Meghan. She was very kind and gave us very well tailored recommendations in terms of both food and drinks as well as places to see/visit on our rather short stay in Edinburgh.

Excellent place to eat with great service and food

Great staff member made our night - Meghan - ask to be sat at one of her tables. So friendly, funny and professional.

Staff were very friendly and helpful with allergies. However, food was very average, Sunday roast was okay but chicken was dry and had to ask for gravy. Three meat ragu was bland and lukewarm. Overall wouldn’t rush back.

Great service from Meghan who went above and beyond and even recommended bars for after. Pizza was lovely. Pasta was okay. Lovely atmosphere in restaurant. Staff very helpful.

We really enjoyed our meal in your Edinburgh restaurant. Abbie who I guess was the duty manager was lovely and very attentive.

Had my 50th meal here with my family, First time at Gustos won't be my last. The waiter with the really long hair was superb from start to finish, he was attentive and nothing was too much bother for him. Food was lovely and came out piping hot. Drinks were good also. Everyone enjoyed their chosen meals. Only wee thing for me was the ladies toilets, seat was hanging off two out of the three. But they were clean. Thank you for making my 50th that little bit special!

First time at Gusto. Food and service was very good. Restaurant was very cold. They should definitely get more effective heating. Not very comfortable.

We went out for a friend’s 21st birthday and had a lovely time. They brought over a small desert for free and sang happy birthday which was a nice touch. The food was excellent and our server Meghan was amazing!

Advert outside 50% off in January.enjoyed our food, but as we are in our late 70's we don't know how to sign up to receive the discount. Was horrified to say the least that our waiter couldn't take the time to help with this as he had done with a previous couple. Eventually paying the bill of £56.10 only to find the Service Charge of £6.89 which was not deserved and also £1 for a Charity. As in other restaurants I have been asked if I agree to that. It certainly spoilt our treat out (as pensioners) paying final total of £62.99.

Dinner for 5 and it was reasonable quality but not great. The portion or carbonara was surprisingly small. Adding extra anchovies onto a pizza was hardly worth it as there were so few. Overall it was fine but I wouldn't rush back. Staff and table service were great. Just a pity the kitchen couldn't follow through.

Beautiful venue, staff so friendly and amazing food -wine to complement

We took part in the pizza experience last night for my sister's hen do. We had the most amazing time. The staff were incredible. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and gave us all a good laugh, especially our main server, who also taught us how to make the cannolis! The information about the pizza making process was so interesting, and expertly communicated by our chef. We all had a wonderful time, especially the bride, and would definitely recommend this experience to anyone!

Popped in for a quick meal for two, was greeted instantly, seated by the window and drinks order taken fast. Drinks were amazing, service was fast, food was great. All round a lovely night at Gusto, thank you to the team <3

Food was great. Carbonara was very bland wouldn’t recommend. Lasagne was lovely. Service was great but i was sat under the air conditioner so i was freezing for the whole meal. Overall really good though

We ate tortelli, fried courgettes, pizza and skin on fries. The service was really good our waiter was really chatty and friendly, cannot fault. Inside it is a lovely building and nicely decorated. Food is average, the tortellini was a starter portion so was 3 pieces. The fried courgettes were nice. The pizza, flavour was okay, Base was a bit thin so when eating was a bit sparce and crispy in bits. The skin on fries were nice but quite small portion. A service charge off 10 percent was added on the bill. We booked on the January 50 percent off, but the tip was ten percent off what would have been the full price for example, bill was 35 and a 7 pound service charge was put on the bill, not £3.50.

Food was beautiful, staff were excellent. I had never had steak tartare before my experience here, and the dish was delicious to say the least. Absolutely scrumptious.

It felt like ages for us to get our drinks and starter. Even customers who arrived after us got their food and drink before us. Food was tasty but starter/ main portions not that great. Waiter could have suggested an extra couple of side portions. It would have given that extra personal touch/ input. Bit too formal, not much of a connection with staff. Seemed a bit motorised, almost like a production line. Did not seem valued enough as a customer to spend extra to make the experience more special. Felt it would not have been worth it. Honest opinion. It was my daughter who got us the dining voucher as a present... I feel service could have been more from the heart, more personal and more of a connection.

Not to go back. Service was friendly but not really good. Food was mediocre. Bill was incorrect. Acoustics are bad.

Male toilet not working was not a good situation. The service charge of 12.5 % is excessive.

We were welcomed by a lovely lady who showed us to our seat. Both her and our server were very friendly and attentive. We each had 3 courses plus wine, Prices seemed fair for an upmarket restaurant. The food was lovely and well presented, however woefully small portions. I initially thought I'd been served a childs portion of pasta, until I spotted the couple at the adjacent table had even smaller portions ! For the sake of the 5th star throw a few more grams of pasta into the pot.

Food was decent but we were crammed in and could barely eat without bumping each other.

The food was fantastic, but our experience was marred by the lack of friendliness from the front-of-house manager, who has a beard and glasses. Additionally, the restrooms were very dirty, raising concerns about cleanliness in the kitchen. Unfortunately, these issues will prevent us from returning.

Had a varied selection of the menu and all of it was authentic and well presented. Great value and lovely atmosphere.

We had a fairly regular experience at the restaurant. The space is spacious and beautifully decorated, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the food was just okay. The portions were small, as expected in an Italian restaurant, but the dishes lacked flavor and were quite bland.

I had such a good experience at Gusto today. I went with my friends for my birthday dinner and i’m so glad I came here. Firstly the food was amazing, everyone loved their meals. Most importantly the service was incredible. Our waiter was called Meghan and she was so lovely and helpful. They also gave us a brownie and icecream for free and sang me happy birthday which was great. Thank you so much for this incredible experience. #lovemeghan

Meghan was amazing, she gave us recommendations for what’s good on the menu. She wasn’t wrong. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The bar staff were able to make classic cocktails not on the menu and they also tasted excellent which was a nice treat. Meghan also made us feel really comfortable dining here with allergies, fully explaining everything available and going through our order with us. Overall a great experience

good food, good atmosphere and of spending money

From start to finish our experience was brilliant. Lovely friendly staff greeted us at the door and our waitress was so kind and helpful. Food was amazing, we normally go to another Italian in Edinburgh but they were fully booked so came here instead, so glad we did. Food was amazing. Thanks for a great evening, will definitely be back.
