Long wait on food and not worth it when it came...can get the same from anywhere in town.

I'm a big fan of Pierinos. Really friendly people and a lovely, clean, modern new shop and kitchen. Importantly the food is good and not expensive. Some of the best pizza in Edinburgh. They've an app and a website you can order from. [Dec 23 update - Pierinos turns 40 today and my earlier review, which feels nearly as old, does not do it just. Pierino's is clean and friendly, food is fresh, lovely and reasonably priced. There is a great range here; pasta and burgers, wraps and pizza as well as fish and chips. Best Pizza, best staff, thank you!

Ordered my Halloumi Birger meal online and I had to phone them after waiting over an hour - took 2hours before it was delivered. There was no apologise or compensation. Hope this was one time only.

Friendly, personable staff! Great portions at great prices. There was a long queue but it moved very quickly so props to the fast service. Food was made to order. Pizza crunch recommended.

We made an order online and wasn't informed until we'd paid for the order that the delivery would be 1 1/2 hours later. I rang up and spoke to someone and tried to cancel the order but was told the order would be with us in 15 minutes. After 1 hour we are still waiting....

Got few meals. Chips were undercooked. Dissapointing

I don’t understand the hype abou this place. The chips were bland, pale and under seasoned and they charge 45p for any sauces. Grossly overpriced and poor quality

Easily one of the best chips shops in Edinburgh. One of the best Pizzas you can get. Forget the chain restaurants these guys do it cheaper, better and with care.

This is way more than your average chippy. Everything from the fish suppers, kebabs, pizzas and burgers are delicious. We've ordered from here a few times now and always impressed. The kebabs are delicious, high quality meat and the lamb in particular was tender and delicious. Great value for money. They have a lot of different options and they do them well.

Food is great which is why it's so popular and busy which as a result means quite a long wait.

Surprised and disappointed – I’ve used this chip shop many times since I’ve lived in the area, it appears that asking how fresh the food is in the fryer cabinet would generate such a hostile response, to the point that the women serving walked off. I didn’t think you could be so precious over such a minor question. Embarrassing and cringe at the same time.

Fish and chips was great. Very pleasant staff. I loved it right after I walked into. Prices are reasonable, short walk from tram line in calm and safe feeling neighbourhood.

Wow this is a great chippy in Leith. We had haggis nuggets, homemade onion rings, homemade potato frittas, chips, whole tail scampi and beef pie. It was cooked fresh for us and the quality was excellent. If you are looking for an authentic chippy in Edinburgh look no further.

Fish and chips shop that recently won an award is actually quite average and expensive for what you get compared to other places in and around Edinburgh.

High quality food that's available late at night

Not happy with how long the wait is for delivery only to have to phone up and be told it's not even left the shop yet and then receive it 15m after the phone call. Sauces forgotten in order too. Good food but annoying you have to chase up your order. I'll be taking my business elsewhere after this happening twice.

Great local chip shop, food is always brilliant, slightly pricey and the delivery time is the only let down, sometimes your waiting over 2/2.5 hours on a delivery which is ridiculous. If you can’t deliver to local people what’s the point in having the service.

Battered Haggis not bad could be more crispy. They had a haggis ready but kept me waiting once to deal with bigger orders after ten minutes i reminded them about it. After 20 minutes I said to forget it.

Fish & Chips very much enjoyed.

Firstly the chips to be fair were cooked to perfection. Regarding the haddock (£7:40) I think it was more a kids meal fish! Very oily and the batter on under side stuck to the box. Perhaps the oil wasn’t hot enough when cooked.

Excellent et très pratique, nous y sommes allés à notre premier soir en Écosse. On s'est fait surprendre par la taille des portions, elles sont très grandes ! Très bonne adresse

This little gem is located in the great neighborhood of Leith. We tried the Fish and the chicken plates and they were delicious. The fish is the star here and was beautifully cooked crisp and flaky. You have a small counter and stools that you can saddle up to enjoy a great meal. Do not miss out!

Not sure what’s happened tonight, we order here all the time and it’s usually good. Tonight however, it’s honestly one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. Pizza was really under done, it was so soggy and there was tomato sauce all over the crust. Ate a slice each and chucked it. Paid extra for more cheese and it was the cheapest, most horrible tasting cheddar. The chips went straight in the bin, so soggy and under done. They were all stuck together in a mush. Whole thing was disgusting. Really disappointing.

Looked forward to visit as voted Fish and Chip shop of the year in Scotland. Unbelievably bad and disappointing - same as some other reviews. Ate on the premises so was not expecting chips soggy and tepid, mushy peas nearly cold, and fish batter soggy, stuck to paper (so assume kept under a heat lamp) and not crispy even at the ends. I was recommended battered sausages and these were obviously not cooked fresh. Took two bites and left them. Astonished at how busy they were. Surely Edinburgh can do better?

I recently had the pleasure of trying the fish and chips from this fantastic takeaway, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a crispy, golden batter that was not at all greasy or heavy. The chips were equally delicious - hot, crispy, and just the right amount of salt. Live just around the corner from this fantastic place for our weekly fish 'n' chips with top-quality Haddock. Domenico and Adriano are great guys, backed up by a really bright and friendly team of people. A special mention to Mo who always serves up a wonderful piece of fish. No need to look any further, simply the best in Town (pizzas are pretty good too!)

Hadn't used them for a while they used to do a great burger but ordered one a few days ago took one bite and threw the rest in the bin it was awful and tasted like a microwaved rustlers burger

First of all, this is not so much the review of the food but rather the app that they have. I urge everyone to not use their app but order directly within the shop. Over 2 different accounts, I have ordered a reasonable amount from them however, now I will not order via their app & most likely, not from them at all. Reasons are this - I have ordered before accepting that you pay a Process Fee (70p) & a Delivery Charge (£3.30) & although I do not agree with these charges, I didnt let it sway me from ordering from them however tonight, there was a new charge! You now pay a Tip (there is no option for this other than what percentage you pay) - we paid 10% which came to £2.99 & as we were very hungry I decided to continue with the order, which I regret as it completely ruined the meal for me! Under no circumstances should we ever be givin a mandatory tip to pay - we are paying a tip even before we receive the food, and tonight the food was cold but still edible. A tip should always be optional and when it comes to food, a tip should only be payable after you have received the food, and ate it - this is what determines whether a tip is worth paying! All in all, before we even received the food we paid on top of our order, we paid £6.99 alone in admin fees!

Despite having known about Pierino's reputation as a good chippy for a number of years I've never felt the need to stray from my excellent more local takeway, but as it was closed over the holiday's I thought I would give Pierinos a try and it was definiely one of my better decisions! The order was taken over the phone and I was advised that due to it being New Year they were exceptionally busy. However I was given an estimated delivery time which turned out to be almost dead on. When the food arrived it was still piping hot and didn't need a reheat in the microwave (which is so often the case and spoils it a bit). The fish I ordered was soft and meaty and the batter crispy and light as a feather. The chicken was juicy and succulent. While the prices charged are at the higher end of the going rate it was worth it for the quality. I am now a convert to Pierinos and would definiely recommend.

Mix of a chip shop and Italian takeaway. You can get grill food and pasta as well. Everything tastes GREAT. Try lamb shish kebab!

Tried twice and they just need to give up on delivery. They might be great for a walk-up, but they can't deliver. First order took nearly two hours and, thinking it was a fluke, we tried again tonight and are approaching the 2 hour mark. Just don't bother - there's too much good pizza in the city to deal with this.

It’s recently won an award best chippy so I thought it’s a trip to leith . Don’t know what the award was based on but the fish was not very nice , and the chips where like they had sat in water to long. Both not very good certainly not award standard .

It is very well priced for very good quality. My personal favourite is Pierinos Burger which can easily top the posh burgers around.

Used to be brilliant but the last 3 orders have been shocking. The pepperoni on the pizza is closer to chorizo. They just sent us chewy chicken coujons which were not fully cooked, and they dont even send garlic sauce with pizza anymore. SHOCKING

Acudimos a Pierinos porque era uno de los pocos sitios que estaban abiertos al llegar a nuestro destino en Edimburgo. El local tiene su historia, fundado en 1983 por Pierino y su esposa continúa a día de hoy ofreciendo una amplía variedad de comida rápida, desde fish and chips y pizzas hasta hamburguesas pasando por kebabs. Nosotros probamos uno de sus platos estrella, fish and chips (por 10,90 £), un clásico de la comida británica, rico, aunque no apto para comerlo todos los días si no quieres sufrir "el efecto palomita" en tu cuerpo.

When you place a order for delivery make sure you get the person on the other end to repeat what you have ordered twice as they don't get it the first time and when you're order comes and it's still wrong then you phone then back up and tell them ok il get you the correct thing you ordered still waiting 2 hours later sorry won't be going back to uses again after using this chip shop for years

Walking into an empty chip shop late on a cold Sunday night doesn't bode well. But they cooked the haddock to order, the chips were terrific, big sauce sachets, and they scrabbled around to find their wifi password so I could order an Uber. Happy, cheerful, family staff with great food. I've been before but not for a while. I prefer my haddock in breadcrumbs, a special supper. The fish was big, the coating crispy and sharp, not a trace of grease. The fish itself was large, flaky,meaty, tasty. Chips were soft inside and crispy on the outside. Hot and not soggy. Salt and vinegar to order, presumably if you want that salt'n'sauce stuff they'll do it.

Nice food, but crazy waiting times for local delivery (almost 2 hours at times), and this order they forgot to put my sauce in (which was a separate charge to the food). Stuff polite when I phoned to complain, but I wouldn't order from here again. Definitely not advised for your Saturday night takeaway, as they seem unable to cope with demand.

The pizza dough is absolutely phenomenal, but the sauce and toppings are not so great, someone really should make an napoletana joint with that dough and quality toppings.

I rang up to especially ask if there veggie burger was a potato burger. They said it was fake meat. So I ordered it. It turned up and it was a potato burger. If I had known this I certainly would not have ordered a vegetarian burger.

I give 4 stars as usually an amazing chippy but the past few month I feel they’ve deteriorated . The chips have been terrible and usually ended up in the bin . Here’s hoping they start to improve again as usually a great takeaway.

I've been ordering from Pierinos for well over 13 years and I can honestly say that I have NEVER been disappointed! The food is always delicious and of a high quality; it's always made from fresh too - there are never any reheats, ever. I can count on one hand the number of times they have got something wrong & even at that it's minor. Just give them a call and they will be more than happy to sort it out for you. They're a busy takeaway at the end of the day! Overall, I highly rate Pierinos and would recommend them to anyone & everyone..... 11 out of 10!
