Food and service were excellent and, although very busy, still arrived promptly.

Went for a birthday dinner, place was packed but the staff were really attentive and friendly. I love that they have an entire vegan menu, although I wish they had more dessert offerings that are DF/vegan (the mango sorbet was really good but a gelato or a tart option would be nice too). The food was served quickly and was delicious, the pasta was just the right portion size. My fellow diners enjoyed their pizza and caesar salad, the drinks were also really good and reasonably priced considering the city centre location. Would definitely return.

A very pleasant surprise in Edinburgh, an Italian restaurant with pasta and pizza so good that it feels like you're in Italy itself. Very nice place beautifully decorated Very attentive employees who make you feel good. I tried the calzone and the pizza and they were very delicious, even though we were only in the city for a few days, we decided to try other dishes and they were very well prepared and very tasty.

Food was very good. Had a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine and cocktail. Veal with mushrooms and truffle was great. Ended up sitting close to the main door so draughts made it a bit chilly. Also, a 10% tip was automatically added to the bill. Not a fan of this practice. As a customer I'll decide if there is a tip and how much. This isn't America.

I was disappointed by the pasta vongole. Lovely setting, the pizza might be nicer.

Amazing service. This restaurant has been the highlight of my stay in Edinburgh. The food and atmosphere was amazing, and really quick service… along with all members of staff being friendly, especially Max. Could not recommend enough!!

Lasagna and Calzone were delicious. The Tiramisu is absolutely amazing. The Staff is polite, nice and always fast. We will be back for sure. 😍 PS. Highly recommend to book a table in advance.

Very nice place to eat in Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly. The food is really good, Italian cuisine slightly adapted to Scottish cuisine. Nicely decorated. A reservation is better, it is well frequented.

Food: absolutely gorgeous. The presentation, the taste, simply wonderful. Probably one of the best restaurant in terms of quality and taste of food. The lemon prawns (can’t remember what it was in italian, sorry) MUST TRY. Service: Good. Polite servers and happy with the service :) Atmosphere: we were tourists in Edinburgh and also happen to visit place for my birthday. And I requested nice window seats but was seated right next to ladies bathrooms Did see loads of other empty seats but ok. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Incredible pizza. Had a pepperoni and a calzone. Not only the pizza was good, but service fast and checking in frequently. Didn’t have to wait and very friendly staff.

Far more beautiful inside than the photos give credit to. They've update the lighting and walls. It now gives a much warmer light and the gigantic art deco style mirrors are stunning with the lights. I thought it might have been closed/intimidating when I approached but once inside and around the corner you are in a stunning and busy setting. I had the pizza pazza and it was delightful. All the food being served looked delicious.

Just ate here for a late valentine's, the food was amazing and we enjoyed it alot. But the stand out was jack's amazing service, would come back here just for him 10/10

Served by Jack and WOW, so friendly and on point with service which can be rare when it's busy! He made sure that we never waited for anything and I'm so glad for that - would absolutely come back again!

Fantastic first experience at Amarone. Our server Bax was brilliant. Very helpful and good knowledge of the menu. The pasta dish I had with the pesto was some of the best pesto I’ve ever had. Would come here again.

Really cool restaurant, food also good. Some waiters really don't want to be there and threw the dishes onto the table in some instances but our main waiter was very nice and attentive.

It was my wife who was there i was just the taxi she has given 5 stars and really enjoyed her meal with her good friends was there for the first time today wit friends had a fantastic meal and a few drinks excellent service.

A group of 8 of us were positioned in the centre of the walkway between booths on a saturday early evening, this meant fairly constant bumps and what not as staff and other guests wander. Service was very good and staff attention was easy to obtain. Food wise of the 8 people around half thought the food was 'okay', basics such as pizza etc were good, dessert was easily the best course. Nice venue, nice staff - shame about the food

Went on a busy Friday night. I Had the Chilli squid starter, Veal with Salad and finally the Lemon tart. Squid was very nice and had a nice warmth to it but not hot. The veal again was nice but had I thought about it probably not one to follow the battered squid, I was all battered out by the end. Finally had the Lemon pudding, I didn't enjoy this at all. It tasted much more like a chemical flavour than natural Lemon. The bill came and Service charge was already included. This annoys me! I always tip, however, The expectation and presumption that I should pay over and above the bill by the restaurant owner I find very conceited. Atmosphere was great and the venue is one that you want to return to. We had a bottle of red with our meal and a couple of beers. All in all it was about £160 for 3 of us.

Fresh delicious prawn pasta with great rich in favour sauce. Better book a table before you go to this restaurant.

In edinburgh for a few days and walked passed here a couple of times decided to go in. We were approached as soon as we entered, has not booked but a table was found within 5 mins. Service was excellent very attentive, and asking if everything was okay. We had lasagne which was a good portion and pizza, which was crisp and a good amount of toppings. We had tiramsu and chocolate mousse for deser, which were excellent. Overall value excellent at around £55 for both of us.

Met up with friends for a catch up having not seen each other for a long time. Staff were so patient as we we talking and didn't read the menu. When the food arrived it was just excellent. The wine was flowing and it was a brilliant evening. Highly recommend Amarone.

I’ve never been so mistreated in a restaurant. We were treated extremely poorly by one specific server. They sent us, a party of 7, to one far away table, barely attended to us and after 15 minutes they rushed us non stop to order and free the table fast. Very very rude waiters.

The food is good quality, no doubt about it. The entrance staff could be a bit more welcoming, but maybe we caught them on an off day. If you sit near the kitchen area be prepared for the noise of cutlery etc. being moved around constantly.

Verry bad expérience, with à fake propaganda. At the site, suscribing for the membership I should have 40% off on January. I did all as I should. And the moment I should pay "unfortunately you did not apply for the conditions" ! Well, It was our last night at Edinburgh, and I leave this beautiful city with a bitter taste of this restaurant. We came 2 times in four days, because it is has a nice decoration. But I am so upset, that I will never come back. I payed 108 pounds instead! Nunca venham aqui, propaganda enganosa. Deveria obter 40% de desconto, e claro no momento de pagar a conta, não preenchia as condições necessárias (apesar de ter feito tudo como indicado pelo site). Ne venez jamais ici. Marketing faux. C'est bien dommage, car nous avions aimé le restaurant, venant 2 fois. Et je repars de la belle ville d'edinbourg avec le goût amer d'ici ! Lovely Italian Restaurant in the center of Edinburgh. Just down the street from the city center and Edinburgh Castle. Our server was attentive and friendly even though we were seated in the bar area. Food was outstanding. Very busy so make a reservation prior to avoid being turned away. I highly recommend stopping by.

Al vanaf het moment dat we binnenkwamen, voelden we ons welkom in dit prachtige pand. Zelfs de gedateerde art-deco stijl staat mooi in dit voormalige bankgebouw. Naast het heerlijke eten, was de kwaliteit van onze gastheer Max van uitermate hoog niveau. Zelden zijn we zo goed behandeld als door deze jongeman. We wilden hem bijna meenemen naar Nederland om hem zijn standaard van gastvrijheid aan de restaurants bij ons aan te leren 😉 Topavond! Enige minpuntje is de akoestiek in de voorzaal - deze klinkt erg hol. Voor de rest; Fantastisch!

From walking in to walking out, I felt that it was an excellent restaraunt. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Food was excellent. Service, ambience and decor was very good. Music could be better, not rock music but something a little more sophisticated for such a good restaurant.

The restaurant was immaculate,the staff very good,but the food was average at best,small portions and overpriced, Heard about this restaurant from other sources,so traveled from Cumbria to try it out, unfortunately I won't be returning.

We went for a day out in town and had booked a table here as my wife had been given a voucher for her birthday. The restaurant is very stylish and gave the impression it would be somewhere to go for a special meal or occassion. After we were shown to our table the main course arrived but it was for another table as we hadn't even ordered. We had both decided to go for the Chicken Liver Parfait to start which was nice and smooth and I had the Tagliolini con Chorizo for main. There was nothing wrong with the food but those three words 'a la catre' usually means a little over-priced for a smaller portion. This was no different. Looking at the Pollo Funghi e Pancetta my wife had I couldn't see the chicken at first as it was hiding below the mushroms and behind the potato. I finished off with a Creme Brulee which was refreshing. I'm glad we had decided to have focaccia with our starter as without it I think I would have felt less satisfied. Then the starters arrived...wait a minute, we've done that already. Wrong table again!Service confusion aside, if I was going out for an Italian meal there are a few other restaurants I would go to for a more authentic and better meal. As is the case with most restaurants in the George St/new town area, in my experience, style outweighs substance. We had a good time but we were grateful for that £50 voucher.

I've been to this place many times and the service was great. Tonight, however, was a train wreck. We got the Christmas VIP voucher in November which could be redeemed whenever. We booked tonight months ago. When we arrived we were given a normal menu even though our booking had the voucher connected with it. The waiter told us they no longer do the Christmas vip thing and left? The, what we assume to be manager, then came over and said its only redeemable at 12pm bookings but the system did not say we could not? So they gave us menus because it was the systems fault. These menus were limited and did not contain the set meals which were promised in the Christmas voucher... which was sad. I was looking forward to the chorizo pasta but it was not on these new random Limited menus. We ordered all of our courses and the starter came. Beuschetta was one slice of bread with 7 tomatoes...that'll be £7 please... a rip off. We waited 40 minutes for our mains which were both pizzas. The manager came over to let us know our mains were now in the oven, no sorry or anything, they clearly forgot to put the order in. The pizza was sub par. It was not like the normal standard. At no point did anyone check in on us. We felt forgotten about which is really insulting. Especially when you see the waiters tending to tables next to us whilst we were left alone...We had another bar booking after which we were late for because of Amarone. We also got cocktails which were barely cocktails. Really dissapointed, so sad because Amarone has been great every other time. It was an absolute train wreck. Won't be back anytime soon....

Visited here for an evening meal, lovely surroundings and the food was great. Extensive gluten free options which were delicious. Staff friendly and attentive without rushing you.The only negative was customers sat on a table near us had “loud laughteritus” which made it hard to talk. But equally enjoyable.

I ordered “little meatballs and linguine”. The meatballs weren’t small - they were just like what you’d buy in a supermarket and the linguine was like mush. I couldn’t eat it. I paid and called them when I went home to complain. The duty manager I spoke to said that the general manager would call me the next day. No one called me. I phoned back after a week and was told to email! I refused. The GM did finally call me and sounded weary, uninterested and didn’t even apologise. She offered me a small free drink if I were to come back. I wasn’t looking for recompense- I was just kindly letting them know that their food was below par and not what was described on their menu. It used to be a good restaurant- however I found their response tawdry and reluctant. I had had to call them twice as the GM hadn’t bothered to call me back. Not a good experience and I feel that lethargic management cascades down through the whole establishment. There are many better dining choices to be made in Edinburgh city centre.

Visited here and the meal was lovely ~ they did a pizza for my husband that wasn’t on the menu ~ definitely worth a visit. The salad and prawn meals were also good.

The meet and greet entrance was underwhelming, should have realised this would set the tone! The lady on the desk could not even be bothered to look up. Felt more like an inconvenience that a guest. The staff were disorganized and chaotic, atleast the trainee was sweet. The starters were ok. The main course took ages to arrive, the lamb was tough, overcooked and everything else just tasted of salt! The quality was just not there. The 2 stars given are for the nice building and awesome light fitting, nothing else warranted stars.

Staff were a bit disorganised - dropping plates, mixing up orders, forgetting things. There were a number of "Trainee" staff - ours was actually really sweet. Lady at the front desk kept stapling papers together and looking down at them whilst "greeting" us when we arrived (not good).Service was slow.Starters were very good but stingey with the portions. Mains were overcooked and very very salty. Shame.

Loved the gluten free menu. I had ordered margarita pizza on gluten free base. Not too expensive, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Will definitely return again.

Myself and my girlfriend came to this restaurant on a busy Friday afternoon and had a fantastic meal. Although there was a slight issue with one of the meals coming incorrect, the staff were quick to put this right and a new meal came out shortly afterwards. I have to say on top of the food, the staff are what make this restaurant so good. They were all extremely polite and patient, including the trainee staff! Keep up the good work and we look forward to returning in the future.

This resaurant situated in St Andrews Square is superb. We were led to our table immediately where a carafe of water was provided. Pizza was well presented and served promptly. Staff were always attentive to our needs. I have included our bill to show you prices as of June 2021 as well as the menu and random photos. I hope you enjoy this dining experience as much as I did.

We ate here as a family of 4 and we really enjoyed it! The place is lovely and the staff and food were great. All our meals were delicious and the staff were attentive. Would recommend a visit here, great value for money!

I was there with my mum for her birthday and we had a great time. The food was great and the staff were lovely and very attentive. Unfortunately I don't know the name of our waitress (a redhead) but she was especially nice and friendly. We were having so much fun we got my dad to meet and we spent about 3 times the amount we meant to (therefore the managers/ owners should know that about their staff).Customer service is everything you remember about a place so if the food is good you're guaranteed return visits which we will do shortly. Easy location and nice atmosphere that's the right balance between smart and casual.Recommend.

We dined here for the first time and were ordering a bottle of wine. There are 11 red wines to choose from and I asked which one was Vegan or even Vegetarian. The waitress was unsure but after checking with the manager she told us none were Vegetarian or Vegan. I Google searched the first wine on the menu and after verifying on the internet I was happy that it was indeed a Vegan wine so we changed our drink order and ordered a bottle of wine instead.I find it incredible that in this day and age, a restaurant of this size and grandeur are oblivious to the fact that there is a massively growing population who are Vegan or Vegetarian and this isn't reflected or acknowledged whatsoever in the choice of wine. I will say that the food was very nice and the waitress was pleasant and it's not her faut if management fail to produce a balanced drink menu. There is no excuse as there is an abundance of choice nowadays when it comes to buying Vegan red or white wine. Apparently there are no Vegan white wines on the menu either but then again we didn't Google search the wines on that list! Come on Amarone, catch up with needs and requirements of a modern generation of Vegans and Vegetarians! Not just the Carnivores!!

Apart from the social distancing, this was the most authentic dining experience in over a year. Post covid, hospitality staff are understandably a little rusty, but that isn't the case here. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, the food was delicious and the prices reasonable. Can't wait to get back again.
