The food was good but a little expensive. However, the atmosphere was very upscale and the staff were very attentive.

Stunning Grade A listed building, excellent, attentive service and a wide range of dishes to choose from. We turned up without a reservation, but a table was available straightaway. Restaurant busy throughout our visit, but we didn't feel rushed to eat and go. Highly recommended.

Favourite restaurant in Edinburgh! Have gone with family, friends and with my partner and it has never once disappointed! Prices are so reasonable, and the food is 10/10!!

Very noisy , you cannot talk at all - kills the atmosphere of a nice place with good food. Be carefull service charge is discretionary but personnel add it, and takes you as a fool as you question it. I have been lied to the face. Its more like a fancy cantine

Amarone is a beautiful and stylish restaurant with a refined atmosphere — the perfect setting for a relaxed yet upscale meal. The service was excellent: attentive, professional, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The food was fresh and flavorful, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. While everything was delicious, there was just a small spark missing to make it truly unforgettable — but it came very close. The ambiance and interior design are especially impressive, with lots of natural light and elegant touches. A great spot for a classy lunch or dinner in a sophisticated setting — I’d gladly return!

We found ourselves in a busy and bustling Amarone on a warm and sunny Wednesday evening whilst in Edinburgh for a work trip. From walking in to walking out everything was just perfect for our group of eight. Friendly & attentive but not cloyingly so service from the highly professional Front Of House Team who looked after us exceptionally well. My Veal Saltimbocca Alla Romana was close to being almost perfect! The Spuds, crisp and nicely salted, the Red Cabbage was utterly brilliant and the accompanying Sauce; Bright, vibrant and deliciously silky. Thank You to the Crew in the Kitchen. Personally, I’d have liked to have seen a larger non alcoholic drinkette choice as a couple of options were not available on this visit, but that sometimes happens and it’s really not the end of the World!

What can I say, a great Italian restaurant! Ideal for temporarily moving away from traditional Scottish cuisine and enjoying some truly tasty dishes. Excellent quality of food, fair prices - considering the quality and the location - and elegant and very well looked after interiors. In short, cuisine worthy of its name and an absolutely recommended place!

Ok, but not great. Plates were cold which made the food cooler than it should be. Was given a chipped glass which almost cut my lip, it was replaced immediately when asked which was good. The food was OK but nothing spectacular, my wife said she could have done better at home.

There have been some poor reviews for this restaurant recently. I chose it for lunch with friends coming into town as its location in St Andrew Square is handy for trains, bus or tram. It was busy for a Monday, I thought, and I struggled a bit to get past people with my crutches. I was seated near the disabled loo, a plus point but it was a long walk from the door. The waitress asked if we had any allergies, so I mentioned my intolerance to coriander. Lucky I did as my main course had coriander rice in it. The waitress spotted this and offered me chips or mash as a substitute. The chips were excellent so it worked out well. I was intrigued by the starter of Farro, marinated tofu, tomatoes, cucumber, scapece courgettes, Leccino olives with almonds and evoo. I’d never had Farro before. It was a bit strange but the combined flavours were lovely and the tofu was soft and melt in the mouth. Overall we had good attention from the waiting staff and when I struggled to get past some seats on the way to the loo, staff quickly stepped in to help. Overall the food is a bit hit and miss but today’s lunch specials were tasty and filling. We were not rushed despite a busy service. A good lunch date location reasonably priced.

Had a great experience with hen party of 12 at this restaurant this weekend, food and drinks lovely and there was something for everyone, they had no problems advising on gluten free substitution last minute, 3 course group menu value for money and atmosphere was lovely, buzzing and we could chat freely. Easy to book and deposit was taken off bill as advised. Thank you very much

The restaurant was lovely and food was amazing but what let it down was the poor service most of the staff were just standing around chatting and laughing to each other we got given our food that was it never offered sauces or asked how the food was when we tried to get the attention of staff they were too busy talking so lovely place and food just not the best attitude the staff had

Our first visit to Amarone and it won’t be our last. We had an ITISON voucher for a 3 course lunch with cocktails, it was well worth it. The menu is limited for this deal but still has many dishes to choose from. We started with our cocktails, 1 Raspberry Mule & 1 Lemon Drop. Both were great, I could drink Lemon Drops all day, maybe. For food we started with 1 Mozzarella Fritter and 1 Croccante Nero followed by Casarelce Pollo e Pesto and Pollo al Porcini. Desserts were Copa all Amarena and Affogato, all very tasty. This was all washed down with a bottle of Merlot del Venita. All the food was well cooked and presented by nice friendly staff, we will definitely be back. Total cost with voucher £86 , to pay full cost would have been £137.50 so well worth buying the voucher.

Definitely to be recommended. The service is excellent and the atmosphere was buzzing even at 6:30pm. We had the Linguine with Scallops and the Pan Fried Sea Bream. Both were full of flavour and cooked beautifully. The portion sizes were good and there was no skimping on the scallops either.

They had delicious pizzas, I especially recommend you to try the one with chicken. It also had a stylish and sweet place, and the employees were very attentive and polite.

Sin embargo, el menú que obtuvimos era severamente carente de opción vegana con solo pasta de tomate o pizza de margarita para elegir. El personal fue grosero y desdeñoso con mi hija que había asistido con un vale itison. Se había cometido un error cuando había tomado un vale usado anteriormente. (Como familia comemos allí a menudo, ya no lo haremos) y se negaron a ayudarla o ayudarla a resolver esto. A mi hija se le hizo sentir como si estuviera tratando de estafarlos y un hombre grosero miembro del personal le causó considerable malestar y vergüenza frente a otros huéspedes. Tratar así a los huéspedes es espantoso y si hubiera sido un adulto mayor dudo que esto hubiera ocurrido.

Amazing service and atmosphere, however a bit disappointed with the food as not really authentic Italian. Good choice of gluten free options, but expect quiet a bit of cross contamination as they don’t have a separate kitchen or oven for gluten free food.

Best Italian food for a long time, fantastic pizza rustic and foccacia, service v efficient and great experience. A must see when in Edinburgh!

Entré aquí con mi madre emocionada por una gran comida italiana. Nos llevaron a nuestro asiento. Decidí pedir un filete de filete y me aconsejó la camarera ... que será mucho tiempo ... estar preparado para esperar ... rápidamente cambié mi pedido a bacalao que despidió a la camarera. Mi madre pidió la ensalada Ceasar con camarones, el aderezo no tenía sabor, no se añadió parmesano, lo que era extraño. El bacalao estaba bien con una pila enorme de una salsa cremosa congelada. La camarera fue extremadamente desatendida. Mi madre pidió vinagre y le aconsejaron ‘pueden pasar unos minutos’ como si fuera demasiado problema. Al final de la comida nos preguntaron cómo estaban las cosas y al mencionar el aderezo sin sabor no hubo disculpas. Me fui con una sensación de náuseas por la crema sin sabor congelada. Se agregó un servicio del 10 % a la factura automáticamente. En general pobre y no recomendaría este lugar.

We didn’t have the best experience here: took a while to be seated; food was a bit ‘meh’ (the focaccia was good, and the pizza’s looked good, but the pasta was poor), it was a bit noisy sitting by the bar. But staff were nice

Got this meal as part of an "ItIsOn" voucher. They had a specific menu for the voucher - a set menu but still very generous. The staff were all very polite and we were happy to leave a tip. The food itself was incredible, though we had a voucher we'd still be happy to pay as it was reasonably priced.

We visited with a group of 10 for a hen do. The food was phenomenal, everything was cooked perfectly, tasted great and was high quality. Service was good too, the bride to be was made to feel very special. Very good experience.

Overall great evening. Ravioli great, pizza fine, choc mousse yummy…busy buzzing atmospheric restaurant. Pleasant attentive staff-could not fault. Only issue - music v loud so chatting was more challenging but for many that would add to ambience. Def recommend though!

We had the most incredible experience here! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional—friendly and attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary, and i’m so glad i picked here. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. To top it all off, they surprised us with complimentary drinks for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful and generous gesture. It made the evening feel even more special. Highly recommend this place for a romantic night out or any special occasion. We’ll definitely be coming back!

its full on, its in your face, its garish & huge! if you are looking for intermate & a quiet bespoke evening meal then this is not the place for you. the menu is huge. the food was OK, not bad but not great. service was again OK - job done but not warmth or real customer interaction. Its about churn & bums on seats, so if you are a huge party of 10 then this would be amazing but if not then just have a think before you book.

A family lunch for early Mother's Day with friends. Food was fine and otherwise I would say in fact that everything was fine - but no more.

A jewelery shop in Edinburgh!! The space inside is beautiful as well as the food. I put one less star because of the person at the reception who maybe because we were tourists we didn't get the necessary attention. While we had a 19:30 reservation we went 15 minutes earlier and while we were told to wait until 19:30, when it finally came time to enter we saw that there were several empty tables.

Everytime I come here I’m just sad over how disappointing the food is. At one point- it was amazing, not sure when it went downhill?

Came for a friends birthday and had a lovely time. Massive shoutout to our server (I do apologize I’m not 100% certain of his name but I believe it was Ali) who was so patient and friendly with us, just a delight the whole evening. The food was delicious and beautifully plated, pricings were fair for quality and amount of food included.

We Italians cannot expect to eat like in our homeland....

Enough seats available, well attended for a Tuesday evening, which of course increases the noise level (also due to the very high ceilings). There are different and numerous seating options. I came without prior booking and was immediately given a table for 1 person. Selection is good, prices are local, service fee 10% is now normal in the hospitality industry. For drinks I had a Cosmopolitan + San Pellegrino lemonade and for a dish I had the mushroom risotto. The mushrooms could have been cooked a little longer, but that's definitely a matter of taste. You have to season almost everywhere, but S+P were on the table. Service was attentive and friendly and, above all, not intrusive. Gladly again, clear recommendation!

Italian pizzeria with quality pizzas. Fresh and abundant ingredients in the pizzas. The rustic Pinsa which is rectangular is original in the typical shape that we are used to. The thin and spongy bases that with the fresh ingredients give the pizzas a lot of flavor. The service is very attentive and friendly. The decoration of the place is very successful with the very high ceilings that give it a lot of majesty. Very good price-quality

LINGUINE AI GAMBERONI/PIZZA PROSCIUTTO E FUNGHI/MINESTRONE We ordered these three dishes. They were unexpectedly delicious. I think it is worth a try. The restaurant atmosphere is also great and suitable for birthdays.

Lovely food . Gluten free available. Would recommend going here in fact we went twice while in Edinburgh.

This restaurant could be hit or miss. Ordered hot chocolate is came room temperature, this was on a cold day so that was disappointing. Food was decent nothing I would go out of my way for. Staff could be on the arrogant side, didn't appreciate that. The owner has some weird obsession with what I'm assuming is his boat there were pictures of it all over the restaurant. The one thing I liked there was the Margaretta Pizza. It could also get busy at night to the point if you didn't have a reservation you had to wait.

Honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Fries were fantastic too. Great atmosphere too.

Above all, don’t arrive on a Friday at 9:00 PM, or they’ll throw the dishes in your face and ask you to eat quickly so they can close the restaurant by 10:30 PM because “the chefs are tired” (according to the restaurant manager).

Food was delicious, staff were all really friendly & helpful with decisions on what to eat and drink. Lovely big restaurant with lots of seating. We arrived slightly later than our reservation time and there was no issues. They even brought out an ice cream and a candle for my parents birthday. I would eat here again.

Had lunch here yesterday we ate off the lunch menu. Good service lovely atmosphere and food tasty. We ate foccacia bruschetta chicken and pepper sauce and gnocchi.

A tremendous experience with old friends, great food and service.

Nice venue and staff were very pleasant but food was disappointing and pricey. Carbonara was very cheesy and the mushroom risotto was tasteless and bland with next to no mushrooms in it - I couldn’t eat it. Focaccia bread was nice.

Went with a friend for a light lunch. She had a pasta dish I had breaded cheese and a side of chips. Nothing was hot. I fail to understand why restaurants appear to feel it is alright to serve tepid food to guests. It was very busy but in my opinion did not deserve to be. Even our coffee was tepid on arrival.

Amarone was amazing. Love italian food. Staff were helpful, doing checks throughout the evening and very respectful and responsive. Food came fairly fast as well as drinks. Drinks were also lush - I recommend a cocktail if you do go and drink. We ordered a pizza and pastas and each were flavourful and lovely. Will be returning

Little disappointed after many visits and usually fantastic selection and quality. Food this time not as great and not worth the money. Appreciate it was Friday and Valentines day but it was not that busy and twice reminded we had to leave as table was needed.

We chose this lovely restaurant again on our recent visit to Edinburgh. Once again, the food and service were both excellent. I would highly recommend this eatery. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was extremely busy. We had booked a table in advance and would suggest you do this. We will definitely eat here again when in Edinburgh.

We had booked for our first day dinner, and saw the amazing reviews so thought ‘this must be the place!’ And for a short while-it seemed to be. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere is gorgeous but then we get pushed on by the staff, rushed at the very beginning as we were asked for orders as we sat down. Then being pushed on extra food that was not necessary nor would have added anything to the meal. The drinks were stellar, bar staff are amazing and played no part in this constructive review. Gave us a bit of entertainment as they talked to each other. But then-when we did order, it came much too quick. After having been pushed on once more, we decided that we wouldn’t be ordering any more (having previously discussed ordering another round of drinks and dessert) and left- with the 10% service charge on a two person table. Overall- I wish I had the experience the more positive reviews had

Booked a table for my daughter and granddaughter on a Wednesday for 2:30pm. We turned up ten minutes before our allotted time to be told “ you’re table’s not ready so you can either take the booth nearest door or wait till your one becomes available” We decided just to stay at the booth although being right beside the door you had a draught every time the door opened. We waited ages for a drinks order to be taken, then ages again for the menu to appear but it was only the a la carte so I had to ask for the lunch menu. The food was ok but the whole experience was about waiting! The restaurant was by no means busy by the time we started eating so there was absolutely no reason for such slow service. An instantly forgettable one and a half hours and I won’t be back.

Great food and cozy atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was very cozy, even though the place was quite busy. The service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. The only small thing I’d mention is that it would be great if they let customers know that the burgers are a bit spicy. Other than that, everything was perfect—definitely a place worth visiting!

Some of the most amazing seafood pasta I've eaten of late as good as my mom's and that's really saying something. This place was really nice, great atmosphere, great service and the food was second to none.

Found this little gem in Edinburgh and I'm gutted we don't have one in Leeds or closer than Scotland. The food literally blew me away with amazing cocktails and mocktails too. I can't wait to go back. 100% recommend to anybody who loves Italian food or just amazing food.

Such a lovely place to eat. We had the pre-theatre menu, it was limited but the food was amazing. Every member of staff we had was so attentive. Would definitely go there again.

This was our first night dinner spot in Edinburgh, we tried to book but was told we could not, which was a little frustrating as we were not able to use a discount, and the staff were not able to make an acception due head office rules? Good food but a really weird thing where they have a great value 3 course menu in addition to the full menu, but the whole table has to have one or the other. Steak was cooked to perfection medium rare and it's a really good atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you are around St. Andrews square.

Excellent place, very tasty food, excellent crew

Great location, delicious food and great atmosphere. Lovely building too. They need to improve the elevated seating though, as it got uncomfortable after a short time - it was sloped forward, so I was constantly pushing on the step/bar to get back on the seat. Sadly the step/bar was also loose, as obviously others have been doing the dam me. Would recommend though.

Very disappointing experience due to unrealistic high expectations from our side. The place is very nice, high ceilings, clean, good lighting. A bit cramped but that's fine. We ordered a) focaccia, which was nice b) carbonara because I was fooled by the wording (original recipe...), it has so much liquid - cream which meant it wasn't done properly; c) Milanese, which was awful, the chicken fillet was super thick and so it was more like a burger than a Milanese. The point of the thin fillet is that you get the bread crumb flavour too but the thing was so thick that it was just tasteless chicken all along, as the chicken is not marinated or seasoned. Spaghetti with the carbonara and the Milanese were also very average pasta you can find in anynsupermarket, nothing special. If you are expecting real Italian don't be fooled by the looks and the menu. You will still get a much better experience than in other "Italians" in the UK but this was disappointing. Maybe stick to the pizzas.

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten! The base was crispy, the tomato sauce was incredibly good and the whole place made us feel welcome. Nice atmosphere in the room. If you like pizza you should try it!
