Above all, don’t arrive on a Friday at 9:00 PM, or they’ll throw the dishes in your face and ask you to eat quickly so they can close the restaurant by 10:30 PM because “the chefs are tired” (according to the restaurant manager).

Honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Fries were fantastic too. Great atmosphere too.

Food was delicious, staff were all really friendly & helpful with decisions on what to eat and drink. Lovely big restaurant with lots of seating. We arrived slightly later than our reservation time and there was no issues. They even brought out an ice cream and a candle for my parents birthday. I would eat here again.

Had lunch here yesterday we ate off the lunch menu. Good service lovely atmosphere and food tasty. We ate foccacia bruschetta chicken and pepper sauce and gnocchi.

A tremendous experience with old friends, great food and service.

Delightful dishes, service was inconsistent, we were ignored for 30 minutes at a time, water was never refilled. Still, the pizzas were great and we enjoyed the ambiance

Really poor value for money - food was below average for the price . Risotto was hard - no offer of top up for water / parmasan / pepper . Staff were nice but would not go back or recommend

Nice venue and staff were very pleasant but food was disappointing and pricey. Carbonara was very cheesy and the mushroom risotto was tasteless and bland with next to no mushrooms in it - I couldn’t eat it. Focaccia bread was nice.

Went with a friend for a light lunch. She had a pasta dish I had breaded cheese and a side of chips. Nothing was hot. I fail to understand why restaurants appear to feel it is alright to serve tepid food to guests. It was very busy but in my opinion did not deserve to be. Even our coffee was tepid on arrival.

Amarone was amazing. Love italian food. Staff were helpful, doing checks throughout the evening and very respectful and responsive. Food came fairly fast as well as drinks. Drinks were also lush - I recommend a cocktail if you do go and drink. We ordered a pizza and pastas and each were flavourful and lovely. Will be returning

We chose this lovely restaurant again on our recent visit to Edinburgh. Once again, the food and service were both excellent. I would highly recommend this eatery. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was extremely busy. We had booked a table in advance and would suggest you do this. We will definitely eat here again when in Edinburgh.

Little disappointed after many visits and usually fantastic selection and quality. Food this time not as great and not worth the money. Appreciate it was Friday and Valentines day but it was not that busy and twice reminded we had to leave as table was needed.

We had booked for our first day dinner, and saw the amazing reviews so thought ‘this must be the place!’ And for a short while-it seemed to be. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere is gorgeous but then we get pushed on by the staff, rushed at the very beginning as we were asked for orders as we sat down. Then being pushed on extra food that was not necessary nor would have added anything to the meal. The drinks were stellar, bar staff are amazing and played no part in this constructive review. Gave us a bit of entertainment as they talked to each other. But then-when we did order, it came much too quick. After having been pushed on once more, we decided that we wouldn’t be ordering any more (having previously discussed ordering another round of drinks and dessert) and left- with the 10% service charge on a two person table. Overall- I wish I had the experience the more positive reviews had

Booked a table for my daughter and granddaughter on a Wednesday for 2:30pm. We turned up ten minutes before our allotted time to be told “ you’re table’s not ready so you can either take the booth nearest door or wait till your one becomes available” We decided just to stay at the booth although being right beside the door you had a draught every time the door opened. We waited ages for a drinks order to be taken, then ages again for the menu to appear but it was only the a la carte so I had to ask for the lunch menu. The food was ok but the whole experience was about waiting! The restaurant was by no means busy by the time we started eating so there was absolutely no reason for such slow service. An instantly forgettable one and a half hours and I won’t be back.

I came here for my birthday and for a staff meeting and for a date just tonight. 3 visits and all 5/5 stars!!!! Great food, prices and service! Big shoutout goes to Eva!!! Great recommendations. I will visit again!

Great food and cozy atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was very cozy, even though the place was quite busy. The service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. The only small thing I’d mention is that it would be great if they let customers know that the burgers are a bit spicy. Other than that, everything was perfect—definitely a place worth visiting!

Found this little gem in Edinburgh and I'm gutted we don't have one in Leeds or closer than Scotland. The food literally blew me away with amazing cocktails and mocktails too. I can't wait to go back. 100% recommend to anybody who loves Italian food or just amazing food.

Such a lovely place to eat. We had the pre-theatre menu, it was limited but the food was amazing. Every member of staff we had was so attentive. Would definitely go there again.

This was our first night dinner spot in Edinburgh, we tried to book but was told we could not, which was a little frustrating as we were not able to use a discount, and the staff were not able to make an acception due head office rules? Think that may not be the truth. The food was good but not great same for the service the building is an old bank and very impressive,

Good food but a really weird thing where they have a great value 3 course menu in addition to the full menu, but the whole table has to have one or the other. Steak was cooked to perfection medium rare and it's a really good atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you are around St. Andrews square.

Great location, delicious food and great atmosphere. Lovely building too. They need to improve the elevated seating though, as it got uncomfortable after a short time - it was sloped forward, so I was constantly pushing on the step/bar to get back on the seat. Sadly the step/bar was also loose, as obviously others have been doing the dam me. Would recommend though.

Very disappointing experience due to unrealistic high expectations from our side. The place is very nice, high ceilings, clean, good lighting. A bit cramped but that's fine. We ordered a) focaccia, which was nice b) carbonara because I was fooled by the wording (original recipe...), it has so much liquid - cream which meant it wasn't done properly; c) Milanese, which was awful, the chicken fillet was super thick and so it was more like a burger than a Milanese. The point of the thin fillet is that you get the bread crumb flavour too but the thing was so thick that it was just tasteless chicken all along, as the chicken is not marinated or seasoned. Spaghetti with the carbonara and the Milanese were also very average pasta you can find in anynsupermarket, nothing special. If you are expecting real Italian don't be fooled by the looks and the menu. You will still get a much better experience than in other "Italians" in the UK but this was disappointing. Maybe stick to the pizzas.

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten! The base was crispy, the tomato sauce was incredibly good and the whole place made us feel welcome. Nice atmosphere in the room. If you like pizza you should try it!

Fantastic restaurant. All the staff are extremely efficient and the food is amazing. Went there twice in 4 days.

Food was good, I ask for Quattro formaggi which they don’t have in menu and that made it for me. Thank you very much, it’s my favourite pizza.

Staff rude, staff rushing you to order, finish your food. Give you the bill before finished. It's a shame because the food is perfect. Wouldn't go again.

My experience at Amarone was disappointing and marred by several issues. The service was chaotic, with an unacceptably long wait between the starters and mains. To make matters worse, we found plastic in our mozzarella starter. While the manager did remove the cost of this dish from the bill, the problems didn’t end there. When the bill arrived, it mistakenly included charges for another table in addition to ours, which led to an unnecessary and time-consuming hassle to have it corrected. Overall, the disorganisation overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal.

Food was good but that’s it. Waiters were very pushy. In just a few mins after the menu was given they reached us twice to ask for order. When we were leaving they started to clean (wash) table when we were still near the table, trying to put the coat on. The restaurant was empty, why rush?? The overall time spent there was around 30 mins, gave us a vibe of a fast food place;/

Friendly staff only to sell you extra products and pass on the obligatory 10% tip on the bill. Some dishes are ok for the price. You mainly pay for the frame.

Probably the worst dining experience we have ever had. Tables far too close together to afford your own space and any privacy whatsoever, packed in like sardines. It was like being in McDonalds. And as for the food, awful! Staff were excellent and the wine also but the restaurant doesn’t produce the wine. All in all we won’t ever be back!

Went for work team Xmas lunch. Food was decent and service good. On arrival though we were told they needed table back in 90 minutes. Given this was a 3 course Xmas lunch we felt very rushed. Felt as though they simply wanted you in and out as quickly as possible whilst taking £55 for the set menu. Appreciate that restaurants need to make money but it felt like a bit of a pi55 take.

Service was fantastic, friendly staff, food was perfect, I had the Ravioli, stuffed with peas, lemon, it was fresh, just delicious, my friend had the gnocchi, again delicious. Well worth a visit.

Let yourself fall in love with one of the most charming Italian food places in Edinburgh 😍 All the food was delicious and at a very good price. And about the desserts... Talk 🤤🤤🤤 Additionally, the service is excellent. Super recommended

Haven't been here for a while but it hasn't lost it's charm and atmosphere. Food was excellent and the service the best I've had anywhere for a while. Staff friendly, polite, efficient and very kindly found us an alternative table farther into the restaurant. Well worth a visit.

Cold steaks , £15 extra for luke warm or cold steak is a rip off. Only the chips were warm. Christmas Dinner for 7 staff spoilt by cold food.

The pizza is excellent.. The mushroom soup is mediocre..

Never heard of this place until some friends who came to visit took us there for dinner. If you are a lasagna lover, this is the place for you! One of the best lasagna that I have ever tasted. I was hungry and unfortunately did not take pictures but I would recommend it without a doubt. The chocolate mousse was also a delight. We will definitely come back with family and friends.

‼️CUSTOMER BEWARE‼️ I made a reservation online for 10pm at Amarone. We arrived before then and waited at the host desk to be sat. The hostess immediately started the experience off poorly when she stated they were closed now as we were being taken to our table. Once we were sat, with no menus provided, a server walked over to ask our order as the kitchen was closing. The time was 10:05pm. We requested menus and ordered 2 glasses of wine. Once the wine was brought to our table we were again asked by our server for our food order as the kitchen was closing. We needed an allergen menu as my wife has a severe allergy to all nuts so thorough review must be made of our order. When we again did not order, at just 10:08pm, the server directed one of the managers out way who again requested our order. We firmly, but respectfully, stated we understood the kitchen was closing and that we were making every attempt to order as soon as possible. My wife was recording herself during this dining experience for fun, not intentionally capturing any staff or other patrons, when one staff member came over and directed her to stop recording. She stopped with no hesitation, and you guessed it, 10:10pm and we were asked again for our order. After this much pressure with only 5 minutes to review a menu and make a selection which also required review of an allergen menu we decided to walk out of the restaurant. We had lost all confidence that the staff or chefs would take care as to not cross contaminate our dishes and did not feel at this time they even wanted to service us. To the management at Amarone, do better. Either do not allow a reservation to be made so late or require your staff to take proper care of all guests. This was truly an awful experience. I encourage hungry visitors to try Bar Napoli for a fantastic experience and meal. We went there following our awful Amarone visit and could not have been more pleased. The staff was considerate, made conversation and walked us through our entire order respectfully. The food was amazing and some of the best risotto I’ve ever had. I thank you Amarone, for being the absolute worst which in turn allowed me to experience how amazing Bar Napoli was.

Lunch at 12.15pm Sunday 8 Dec We had a delicious meal - mains, desserts and drinks All food was super tasty, beautifully presented and generous portions also! Grand job Kitchen team! Service was good - we were well attended. Erica looked after us really well! I appreciated that although it was Christmas season we had the option to order from their regular A la Carte Menu. I appreciated being given a table by the window as asked. Thank you very much! Growth edges: consider getting more milk alternatives such as coconut, almond, soy? Atmosphere. The high ceilings add a wonderful vibe. I gave 4 stars, however, because it was so loud that even if the 4 of us were nested at a window table I had to shout to make myself heard across a dquare table. Oat and dairy are milks that some people can't have and I am one of them, that was the only downside of my experience there today. Thanks!

Magnificent if you're ever in Edinburgh Scotland!

I tasted the lasagna and the calzone and both were so amazing! The lasagna had huge tasty chunks of ragu and the calzone had lots of filling as well. I really recommend and will definitely be back next time I’m in Edinburgh.

Beautiful decor. Food was amazing. Table tiny for 7 people, we were squashed together! Member of staff quite rude to a party member saying she was sitting in the way! That’s where her seat was!! Felt a bit rushed as yes we were told we only had table for 2 hours but food not actually at table until an hour before we were due to leave! However all said food was unbelievable and would definitely visit again but would ask for a bigger table!

Stunning surroundings, lovely service, plenty of choice. Went with my mum who eats meat and dairy and she had lots of options. Separate vegan menu for me which I was very pleased with. Recommend booking in advance - full even on a November Monday evening but very highly recommended.

Wandering streets of Edinburgh and came across this absolutely fabulous restaurant. Were welcomed from word go, excellent service, attentive, nothing too much trouble. Outstanding quality of food, service... Everything! Highly recommend!

Stunning inside and the presentations of our meal were amazing! Lasagna and veal were our choices after delightful starters of bruschetta and Insalata di Sorrento! Our waiter was very attentive and courteous ♥️

Think this was the 3rd time visiting Amarone in Edinburgh, we got the exact same service as the previous times. The food is always excellent. Fresh tasting and cooked to perfection. Hopefully one day I'll get to dine in the secret vault dining room.
