Really enjoyed my experience here with my friends. Excellent food and friendly staff, shout out to Rez for his quality customer service as well.

Visited the restaurant on Friday night. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and excellent value. Loved it. And will most definitely return.

Taste of India Food is disgusting, whole order ended up in the Bin. Food arrived cold, no flavour to anything, we ordered the Chicken Tika Masala, Chicken Jalfrezi, Rice and Chicken Pakoras, All the Chicken was dry and flavourless, reheated from the previous day more than likely. garlic Nan had no flavour and was like rubber. Truly disgusting experience, Never order from this place.

Don’t order takeaway, always always late. Ordered for 30 minute later pick up on a quiet Wednesday, over an hour later we still didn’t have our food. There was only one table of customers sitting down so they were not that busy. When I asked about the time I was advised “one chef is off”. If this is the case, the delivery time should be updated to reflect this.

Had a fantastic meal for my granddaughter's 18th Birthday celebration. Food brilliant, staff so friendly, they even presented her with a birthday cake. What a lovely gesture.

Usually one of the best Indians locally, not any more, our family had a table booked a 8pm, we arrived it was very busy, very cramped where we were seated, service slow we were still waiting for main order at 9.30pm, couldn't seem to cope in the restaurant, need to either focus on being a takeaway or restaurant, we left didn't wait for main meal, will not go back, very disappointing.

Absolutely brilliant food thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Excellent service from the young lads will be definitely back again with my friends.

Service was diabolical we Ordered two takeaways to collect at 6.25pm told be ready pick up in 45mins when arrived 7.15pm told wouldn`t be long 10mins later told were waiting for nan bread after another 10 mins told it won`t be much longer kept getting more and more excuses but the restaurant part was not that busy. Our patience finally ran out at 8.00pm and asked for a refund which we got. But we were not the only ones having to wait the Just Eat guys were also leaving their empty bags and walking out other customers were offered a free bottle of wine one person been there for 1hr was given 3 bottles of beer because their meals were also not ready

Table for four Starters, main course, rice and naan breads. All food looked and tasted great, no complaints. Service great. Good prices. Will definitely return and happy to recommend.

I ordered via just eat. Onion bhaji, Lamb Curry and Chapati . I ordered at 5.30. The delivery time was 6pm. Then it was 6.15, then 7pm. Arrived at 6.55. A rather long wait. When it came the Bhaji was dry on inside and over fried and hard on outside. Seemed old and stale The lamb curry had lamb written on the box but it was chicken. I don't like chicken, I love lamb. The Chapati were warm but very very chewy. And hard in places . Over cooked. Not at all soft. Won't be ordering from here again. Very disappointing and a long wait as well

Its been a while since our last visit. Decor and cleanliness was good, the meal was tasty and service was excellent. Only one choice of draught lager (Kingfisher) but it was spot on. The final bill was a little bit more expensive than I was expecting but I'm old and these days everything seems to cost more. We will definitely consider visiting again.

Use this place a lot, usually for takeaway. The bindi bahji and anything with spinach is great. Service in the restaurant isn't great, but the food is good.

A couple of months ago I would have give this place a raving review. 5* everything. But lately it's gone rite downhill. Few times now I've waited about an hour in total for a collection. Rang up, 15 mins travel, arrived at shop was told 2 mins, 10 mins later was told I'm just waiting on a naan bread, 10 mins later was told it was gonna be 2 mins (again) 15 mins later the food came out. and the food has gone downhill aswell. Dunno what changes theyve made but something isnt working. Will not be returning and DO NOT recommend.

We went for a family birthday. A last minute decision. This includes 2 babies. Food was nice enough however the staff were just inconsiderate and rude. They glared at us through most of the meal as one of the babies was crying. Obviously they couldn’t help that but they couldn’t wait to get rid of us. Do not go if you have very young children. Have went here for years. But will not return because of how uncomfortable they made us feel.

I made a home delivery order, when I received my order I was very disappointed to find that my chicken Curry had been spilled out of the carton and half the curry sauce was at the bottom of the carry bag leave me with hardly any curry sauce, this is the first time using this restaurant and it most definitely is going to be the very last time,

Came in on a Tuesday very nice relaxed atmosphere not too busy. Great veggie options I had vegetable sag and it wasn’t spicy just a lovely taste and good portions too. We will be back. Good portion sizes and good selection of pickles with the pickle tray

Love the food from here but tonight the lamb was absolutely awful, my dog would have turned its nose up at this 🙃 what a shame, the kitchen surley know the grisley fatty pieces they are cooking, so they must think is OK to serve this poor quality but charge top dollar. ?? Well it's not OK. Won't use this place again

Absolutely horrific buttered chicken tasted like water. I’ve had the same dish in many restaurants and it’s been lovely. Rang the restaurant up and all the man could say was ‘it’s supposed to taste like nothing’. If that’s the case stick to selling bottles of buxton. Horrendous! Also chicken was chewy in dansak. WILL NOT BE BACK SHUT THE PLACE DOWN. If you are from the local area try Zara as ur top Indian cuisine restaurant - only went here as an alternative because it’s shut on Tuesdays.

We visited this restaurant with friends (4 of us in total) and didn’t actually get to eat any more than poppadoms. Having been sat for over an hour, we enquired as to when the starters would be coming. The waiter responded that they wouldn’t be long, but they were very busy. The restaurant was quite empty, but a lot of takeaway orders went past our table. We asked to speak to the manager as we were dissatisfied with the time the food was taking to come, and it resulted in 3 members of staff standing at our table shouting at us. The starters did come during this time but we refused to stay in the restaurant, so we paid for the wine and left. None of us have ever experienced such horrific service and we won’t be back. Maybe the food is nice, but an hour for a starter is not acceptable when the restaurant is so quiet.

Got a delivery tonight came online but was freezing cold no chicken tikka starter and 1 rice missing, shop refused any blame and refused to bring missing items that were paid for

We always enjoy meeting the staff here and have never had a meal that was less than very good, However, that was surpassed by the fish dishes we had tonight. The balance and complexity of the flavours kept us focussed until the last mouthful! Utterly delicious. Many thanks.

Habiendo utilizado el servicio de comida para llevar en algunas ocasiones y siempre impresionados con la comida, decidimos comer en el restaurante. El servicio fue excelente y el personal era amable. El restaurante es bastante pequeño pero está muy bien decorado y tiene un buen ambiente acogedor y frío. La comida estaba muy rica. Los dos no nos podemos quejar de nuestras comidas. En general, una experiencia muy agradable y volveremos.

Usé el servicio de comida para llevar un par de veces. Comida siempre muy caliente y fresca. Excelente relación calidad-precio y el personal es muy amable. La única queja es que si pides que un plato se caliente un poco, nunca lo está (al menos no para nosotros). Podría hacer con ofrecer un servicio de entrega como no lo hacen actualmente.

Después de 15 minutos de espera, obviamente pude ver que la única mesa grande en el restaurante fue tomada con clientes que solo tenían sus entrantes. Era obvio que sería una larga espera. When this place first opened is was okay 'Takeaway; level food. Then it improved to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. However, standards have slipped drastically. Our last meal was terrible. You could taste the curry powder in the meal as if it had not been cooked out properly. Additionally, the waiter smelled badly of cigarette smoke. Will not be back

Best Indian in the area. Takeaway and sit in. Food is always delicous and the staff are courteous and attentive. Spotted the chef and he was immaculate, always a good sign. Place is nicely decorated and plenty options for our vegetarian daughter.

I went to Taste of India as a new years day meal as my wife and I wanted to do something different than the usual go out and have a few drinks. Place was lovely and welcoming and was really busy due to the date, we arrived half hour early and we were greeted by a lovely lady who offered us drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. We were seated within 10 minutes. Although the place is relatively small compared to places like Shakaras at Whitley bay and Aneesas on Newcastle Quay side (all you can eat buffet) it was very warm and welcoming. Orders were taken and food delivered quickly and was to a great standard. I would definitely go again and would recommend Taste of India if your looking to go for a meal in Forest Hall.

Una de las mejores comidas indias nunca. No es barato, pero si unas cuantas personas entonces puede compartir. El servicio puede ser lento cuando hay mucha gente, pero es la pena la espera. Tienen empezaron a servir alcohol de nuevo pero es bastante caro.

Visitamos el sabor de la India recientemente y los cuatro de nosotros tuvimos una experiencia muy agradable. La decoración y el ambiente del restaurante es precioso, el personal amable y profesional y el servicio estupendo. Pedimos varios entrantes, platos principales, arroz y naans y nos pareció que para ser bien presentado, delicioso y de excelente calidad y exactamente como ordenados. Sin duda, recomiendo una visita.

Went to The Taste of India to pick up my carry out meal I had The Chefs special Chicken Korma which tasted nothing like Kurma and my partner had chicken Madras which we paid for chips, rice, pompadoms and raitha. I don't normally write reviews about restaurants but gotta say it was possibly one of the worst I have tasted. I was told it would take about 30 minutes so I arrived spot on time to be kept waiting for approx 9 mins so you would have thought food would have been hot it wasn't, it will take some persuading for me to try this place again this should have been a nice treat but wasn't I would not recommend their take away very poor

The options for authentic Indian food was limited especially vegetarian. The cuisine is more from east india and Bangladesh . I found the service average .

Popped into here for an off-the-cuff special meal. The food is amazing, and most of the staff are very friendly. However I do think one or two need to up their social skills a little as sometimes the service we received was rather 'gruff'. I can't fault the food at all, and the fact that you can take your own alcohol and therefore save on costs is commendable. The wine (we bought it there) is a bit pricey to be fair, but very nice for all that. We started with samosas, which came with salad and three types of sauces, and I followed mine with Chicken Tikka Byriani. Normally a byriani sauce can be bland, but not in this case, it was very tasty and complimented the rice dish beautifully. We were left to enjoy our food but occasionally asked if we needed anything else, a glass of water quickly supplied when requested. We certainly plan to be back.

I went to this restaurant to be greeted by a very impolite rude waiter who would not help my disabled father out of his wheelchair. after a 56 minute wait on food, i was presented a cold disgusting curry which had a small pubic hair like hair in it. i was refused a refund, given poppadoms the size of a crumpet. not to mention the carpet on the walls!!! i would not even let my dog eat here. vile vile vile!!!

Ordered a takeaway (chicken madras) looking for chicken and sauce was very bland. Popodom size of a digestive biscuit. Wont be hurrying back as really disappointed.

My partner and I went to this so called restaurant for our 1year anniversary. My partner is from The area and has been to the restaurant on a number of occasions the latest in June 16 and had no problems. It was a very different story tonight. We walked and were not welcomed then rushed to order when the restaurant was completely empty. I ordered a lamb kebab to start and received chicken, not good and no apology. The three waiters on duty had no interest in serving / carry out their job correctly. My partner order chicken tikka masala which looked more like the colour of Martian Rock then something suitable for human consumption. I ordered a minced meat and lamb curry and am still looking for the lamb. The rice was over cooked and dry. We ordered a pashwari naan, it came as an undercooked plain naan which tasted more like raw dough. I sent it back advising it was not what I order ed was told that another had been order there was obviously not enough"seasoning" applied to the first, which incidentally was thrown back at us on the table, apparently now "free" after this I cancelled the second order and was told it was already being prepared, still stated did not want it. Despite this another waiter brought the fresh naan I stated I did not want it. The waiter then started to argue with me which I did not appreciate and I just stated I wanted it removed from the bill, which took ages to come. When I expressed my disappointment with the meal I was tutted at by the waiter which capped off an absolutely shocking evening. Don't go to this restaurant it you want a nice meal. Disgusting food and disgusting service

Ordered off the early bird set menu.Prawn Bhuna on purée was definitely not the best. The Lamb Jalfrezi was not great either. Lamb was very dry and the jalfrezi did not taste like any jalfrezi I had before. Not sure whether their jalfrezi is more authentic or whether the other Jalfrezi's are the authentic ones. Bonus is that you could bring your own alcohol.Service was great and very friendly.

Me and my mate moved into the Forest Hall area recently and like any men, we wanted to find the best takeaway places straight away, and make them our usuals. With Taste of India it didn't take us long to choose. First night out and we hit a the jackpot.Now we have an excellent rapport with the staff who are always friendly, happy and immaculately dressed in shirts and waistcoats. They are very attentive and go out of their way to accommodate your requests.The restaurant is always clean and very nicely decorated, with deep colours in a modern style. A truly lovely and relaxing place to enjoy a meal.But the clincher is the amazing food.I've been to curry places where a curry is a lovely sauce but with very little filling. Not too many onions and about 5 chucks of meat. Similarly I've been to Indians where I could have swore the Lamb curry i ordered was actually vegetable. Stuffed with ingredients but barely non of them meat.Taste of India is still by far the meatiest and tastiest curry I've ever ordered. Rich delicious sauces, packed with flavour and a lot of meat and fillings clogging up the sauce just how I like it. I couldn't get moved for meat in the curry. And best of all, its one of the cheapest curry places I've been to.Everything at this place makes for the perfect curry night. NOT to be missed! :D

There is a reason my family have bought from this place every Friday for the past 6 years. Amazing food, service and atmosphere.

Varied dishes at reasonable prices. You can sit in at the restaurant or order a take away and have a drink at the bar (not licensed so bring your own).Nice ambience in the restaurant and never under pressure to leave the table.Highly recommend the food served up here especially the 'spicy' chips.

Ordered a takeaway, got a mixed meat saag, lamb and chicken, nothing good about it at all, tasted like it looked and it looked like a pile of spinach with some chicken dumped in! So disappointing, this was the final straw tbh gave it one last chance after precious takeaway was poor aswell, never again! Stay away!

I have eaten here for several years now and although previously happy, now feel the standard is significantly dropping. I try different named dishes but they all taste a bit similar. Today Chicken Joypuri- had chicken tikka in rather than plain which affects the taste negatively and for the money - 3 strips of chicken tikka and loads of veg and sauce, come on guys bring the standard back up.

The restaurant experience has improved by the introduction of the "take your own drinks" policy. Makes any restaurant a lot more affordable when you aren't being ripped off for drinks. Invariably in restaurants we stick to iced water and drink after we leave.The food and service here continue to be very good and the take-away food they provide is also of the same high quality

Another return visit to this restaurant and as usual hard to fault. Great food ,friendly staff and reasonable prices Bringing your own drink keeps the bill down compared with other restaurants and the chef will tailor your curry to your taste -scorchio or mild!

This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away In Forest Hall. The staff are lovely and the food amazing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Love it!

Visited the Taste of India for my sons 18th birthday as a surprise for him. I asked if I could bring in a cake and some decorations and the staff took them and decorated the table before we arrived. Without having to prompt, the cake was brought out at the perfect time too. They went over and above my expectations making it a very memorable occasion for all of us. The food was amazing as were the prices - and all generations thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you so much

Third visit there. Hadn't been for awhile. Remembered why. The atmosphere was good on a sat night good staff nice decor. But food was a let down. We both had different meals but tasted the same apart mine had a few chillies thrown in. Seems chef has the same basic spice recipe for most of the dishes. I give 3 stars for ambiance. 1 star for food.

went on Saturday night 2 couples food and service were perfect no alcohol but you could bring your own [sainsburys opposite have drinks chilled] tandoori meat kebab starter was fantastic

Great food large portions staff are v good no alcohol but you can bring your own if you like a Indian try here you will not be disappointed can't wait till next vist.

We had a super dinner at Taste of India; almost all of our dishes were perfectly spiced and all of the dishes had perfectly cooked, tender meat in them. One dish was supposed to be fairly mild but was extremely hot with black pepper. our waiter immediately offered a new dish and the person who had recommended the dish came to apologise. There was enough food on the table not to need a new dish and the rest of us were extremely happy with our choices. The paratha naan is absolutely divine and I would eat that with anything! Overall, a super experience and really delicious, tasty, well prepared food.

My husband and myself haven't been here for a long time but decided to go back! Had the special set menu Monday - Thursday which was very inexpensive and tasty! Definitely be back soon !

Now you can take your own booze, we thought we'd take advantage living round the corner, it's had a refurb, looks so much better, it was lovely and warm , lots of people ordering takeaways..Nice clean menus, waiters so polite, brought glasses /opener for our beers straight away,Food came, didn't have starters as we knew we would be too full!!Lovely and fresh... Sticks of cinnamon , whole bay leaves, cardamom seeds.... Served on HOT white plates , very ascetically pleasing, the waiters weren't in your face every five minutes, but were extremely polite and attentive, they made it a very "nice" occasion for usIn Fact, we couldn't eat it all, so I insisted on taking it away with me, which was no bother for them at all, They were very chatty, and didn't look at all stressed out.... And with sainsburys being opposite , it was a result!! Well done, will definitely come here again

This restaurant is a great change to going into town but doesn't compromise on quality.The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and do not hustle you out the door when you have finished. We have started going here regularly, I would recommend it.

Not the best decor but clean, very friendly staff and wonderful food large portions been here quite a few times and always had good food. On my last visit there was a notice say from August they no longer had an alcohol licence, so it was bring your own

The Taste of India has recently been refurbished. The wallpaper is somewhat eclectic in fact it's a bit mad but it didn't distract us from the fantastic food. It is apparently the same chef but he has revamped some of his dishes and is using some New spices. We were made very welcome then had to pop to the supermarket next door as it is now bring your own drinks. Our order was taken promptly with a bit of humour thrown in and we were shown to our table. They supplied an ice bucket for the wine . They charged £3 corkage on the bill which we thought was fair. The food was served hot and delicious with a nice gap between courses. Bhuna King Prawn for starters was perfectly spiced and the lamb in the Rogan Josh melted in the mouth. We also had a cashew chicken curry which was a new one to us and very tasty.We ordered two naan which arrived sizzling hot and a rice. We just couldn't eat it all so we will maybe miss out poppadums or starters next time. Oh yes there will definitely be a next time. The food came to £20 per person which was good value for the quality and quantity. Orange slices and a choc creme mint finished things off nicely.

Decided to give this place a second chance after a long gap since our last visit.It has since been done out and thankfully the rather bizzare carpet in on the wall has gone, unfortunately this has been replaced by 'mock' brickwork effect wallpaper (obviously the same interior designer with awful taste).Onto the review:We arrived and were seated at our table and it took 20 mins to be given a menu to look at, following this it took an excruciating 1 hour 30 mins until our main arrived!! In between this we were pretty much ignored and had to constantly ask for service. I really want up like this place as it's local to us but it feels but it feels like they always chasing their tale and pay too much attention to customers ordering the take away.The waiting staff try their best and some some try to accommodate you but the guy who I presume us the owner/manager is the most abhorrent, ignorant person I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Considering we were a table if 9 and contributed a lot to the evenings takings he looked at us with disdain and was not interested whatsoever In our experience. Needless to say I will never return!! Oh and the food was v mediocre too!! Much better on offer slightly further afield

We came here as it isn't far from our house. They had a mid week banquet offer on for £11.50 p/p where you get a pre starter, starter, main & side. So it really is fantastic value for money. I was so full when we were finished eating. The service was fast and good & the food was AMAZING. The lamb Bhuna is to die for. Can't fault this restaurant at all, we have never had a bad meal from here and it is well worth a visit.

This is our local restaurant and take away. Excellent quality food whether you are eating in or out. Friendly fast efficient service.

Lovely food and friendly staff and excellent value for money. Just missing a little on the atmosphere and ambiance.
