So disappointed in this restaurant, food wasn't hot, i could of been eating anything as it tasted of nothing. slightly pricey and portion sizes were a bit of a joke. Sadly the staff weren't too friendly neither. In all honesty i could of bought a better meal with flavour from a supermarket.

Visited as a party of 6 for the 1st time. Sadly it will be the last. Terrible food, tasteless and less than warm. I'm sure mine was mushed up baby food, and always thought pilau rice was yellow not white Nicest things were the poppadoms but you can't go wrong with them. Food was just about warm, really small portions on an overpriced menu. I really wish I had taken photos of the fish finger sized piece of cod, the hard onion bhajis and the tiny desserts. Please look at the prices online before you go here. Service isn't that friendly neither.

Brilliant evening in the restaurant as they hosted a charity fundraising dinner. Food was amazing as always.

Never seen a restaurant with everyone sitting there with there coats on , it is so cold in there , does the staff no see that people are dressed as if there outside , One little heater on the wall , which doesn’t do a lot . Made the meal very unpleasant. Let’s hope they take note and make the place warmer or they will be losing custom till the summer . Food was nice , portions are smaller , less meat than pre covid , but that’s the way now .

Very good weekday offer at £16.95 any starter, main and side. Followed by ice-cream or coffee. Excellent place for hosting parties or charity events.

I’ve read the reviews today and seen some from lockdown that didn’t give good review, But not many done very good food as everyone was so busy . So it’s understandable. Don’t let that put you off normally amazing place and with great food . Lee

Excellent Indian Restaurant & Takeaway. Consistently good quality food. Have been using for several years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Best Indian in Ipswich.

Have visited this restaurant many times before, but following my visit this week, felt compelled to finally write a review. The staff are always friendly, food cooked very nicely (not too oily either!), and washrooms nice and clean. Sensible pricing helps, and the new outdoor dining terrace will be a big plus when the weather picks up! Also, very COVID aware, with good spacing and hand gels available in places throughout, which is very important for me. Would recommend!

After all the good reviews, we tried this for a lockdown takeaway. First and last try. Pick up was timely, no issues with that. The meal that the staff were eating when we arrived looked and smelled very nice. So this was promising. Once home, we noticed that orange oil/liquid was seeping out of the paper bag and out of the 2 'main meal' containers. Decanting them onto plates, they both quickly flowed across the plates like thick soup with the infrequent 'lump' of a small bit of meat/fish/vegetable. The taste was 'nothing' really. Not offensive for thick soup, but that's not what we were looking forward to. We didn't finish eating them as they really weren't enjoyable. Miles away from decent food which was promised and paid for, and from the look and smell of the meals the staff were tucking into in the restaurant, perfectly possible for them to create. A real disappointment for a Saturday lockdown treat.

Website was easy to use with ordering and the best bit is they still accept cash on delivery 👍🏻. The food was the right temperature to eat & packaged well. All things purchased were very tasty & went down a treat. Can’t wait to have another.

Ordered 2 portions of cooked chicken - both were only warm and not hot . Seems as though they had been left waiting in the container. Not good value for money . Not sure about social distancing rules either ? Will not bother to go again

I ordered a delivery meal starting with onion basis arrived dence and cold might as well gone to sainsburys my main meal was lamb madras watery and cold my wife had a chicken dish she found cold but ok i live 5 minutes from the restaurant. They where advertising 20% off take aways collected or delivered but I didn't get the discount so I phoned to get sombody who just wanted to to arrogant with the customer I didn't get the 20 % off no dates when it starts or finishes so am making people aware that the food is not good enough for over £31.00 I expect better i will keep using the bay of bangalore take away better food nicer people abd cheaper

On Saturday 25/04/2020 I really fancied an Indian take away, due to the lockdown I could not use my usual Indian restaurant so I used the just eat app and was recommend Taste of India I ordered over £60 worth of food for my family and I was very very disappointed The onion bhaji’s that were ordered were hard as rocks and flowery like lumps of hard dough ! I ordered a garlic naah for my daughter and it was burnt with black charcoal bits all over it! I ordered a chicken vindaloo that was more of a bland chicken curry it was not hot at all it was even what I would call mild ( chicken korma without the coconut at best ) very bad! I ordered a half tandoori chicken again no flavour and the chicken was so over cooked and dry that it could not be eaten horrible!!! I ordered a lamb buna hardly any lamb in it was mainly all sauce and no real flavour!!! I ordered Bombay aloo, Mattar Panner and a Bhindi Bhaji all 3 side orders tasted the same as each other no distinct flavours just very bland!!! The only part of the order that tasted ok was the mushroom rice and pilau rice Very disappointed and I will never order food from them again

Ordered Grill chicken kebab and realised it was literally warmed up frozen seekh kebabs from any town centre asian shop. The only difference is i paid twice the price for half the number of kebabs. Hugely disappointed!!

First time ive tried this place,tbh Reviews looked pretty good AND it 20% off over £15 order. Delivered on time,very friendly driver and hot food. Ordered miles too much but food looked amazing and tasted great !! Only slight downer were bhajis abit overcooked but im just being picky..... Will def order from here again :)

Booked a table of 30 to celebrate my 50th birthday. The management and staff could not have been more more attentive, helpful and welcoming. They produced and amazing set price buffet, and were more than happy to accommodate specific food requests on the night. The food was delicious and more than we could eat. Highly recommended

Went to Taste of India last night for their Restaurant 13 year anniversary. What a fabulous evening. The food was amazing (as usual!), it's nice to have the menu decided for us as we always struggle to decide what to have and end up having the same meal as last time!! The service is always top notch and last night didn't disappoint. Keep it up lads

Ordered a takeaway for collection. Wait was reasonable. Food was ready when I collected which was nice as no waiting around. Food was good and upto the usual high standard I've come to enjoy from them.Unfortunately they left something out of my order. Normally with other takeaway restaurants I would moan to the wife and not do anything about it, however I decided to call the restaurant as it had never happened from there before.They were very apologetic over the phone and really helpful. They gave me some options for what I would like to do. I chose to have the missing item delivered. It turned up really quickly (before we had eaten the other food we had ordered). Delivery drive was great. They even gave us some extra popadoms.At the end of the day were all human, they were busy (which is always a good thing) and things like this happen sometimes. It's how they dealt with it which impressed me and is why I will keep coming back.To sum up:1. Good food2. Great customer service3. I will keep coming back

Terrible service. There were sixteen of us celebrating a birthday. Arrived at 7.00 and got our meals at almost nine o’clock. One person ordered an omelette and hers was served by 8.00 so she was finished by the time everyone else got their meals. Two people ordered hot starters and they arrived with the main courses.

Why do we keep giving them a second chance, been getting deliveries from elsewhere, but thought we would collect, only to get home and find one of the dishes missing, rang and no apology only argued that I hadn’t ordered it! Clean your ears.Food was ok nothing special, and portion sizes small, sure the rice used to come in the larger container not the square size, especially when we were a dish short so had to ration... oh and five bags of salad!

We visited on Saturday night for a take out, ordered and they said it would be 30 minutes which it was. We usually treat ourselves once a month here, order the same thing. This time it was not up to there usual high standard. Over spiced, lacking enough meat..We noticed that there was a change of staff on front of house, hope it was an off day and not a taste of things to come.

Visiting family in Ipswich, this was near their home so booked for Saturday evening. Nice smart room and a nice welcome. Pretty quiet for a Saturday.

Great service, good menu, great food, all positive until I asked if we could take away food we could not eat as we were all full, at which time I was advised we would have to pay for the containers to take food home in. Bearing in mind ee had just spent almost £100 for a family of four I thought the additional charge unreasonable, we left the food and they lost a tip.

I hadn't been to the taste of India for years but one off the group recommended it so gave it a go. They do a meal deal which is fantastic value. Any starter, any main and either a naan or a rice for £8.95. (I think the deal is Sunday to Thursday). I couldn't make my mind up but the waiter asked what I liked and the spice level I could handle and suggested a lamb naga. Couldn't fault it. Was simply lovely!! There was 6 in our group and the food arrived quickly and tasted hot and fresh. If your looking for a place to go as a group or just as a couple I would highly recommend!!

Yo ya había elegido qué comidas de mi madre y yo había elegido. En llegando a casa la comida aún estaba muy caliente y no necesita de calentamiento. Mi pollo phall estaba caliente como solicitado pero aún así tenía sabor profundo. Mi madre tenía una gambas biryiani muy generosa cantidad de langostinos y ella lo disfrutamos. Sin duda volveremos.

Excelente restaurante situado en las afueras de Ipswich. La comida y el servicio en el restaurante es absolutamente de primera clase. El personal es amable y atento, sin ser dominantes. La comida siempre es cocinado a la perfección y a diferencia de otros establecimientos que no parece tomar una edad para cocinar.

Don't be put off by the exterior. The place is modern and not your usual Indian restaurant interior but the food is very tasty and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a return visit.

So we haven't had an Indian for a while. My missus said we should have one from our local as it lovely last time she had one. We were not disappointed! Blooming lovely!2x poppadoms, 1x plain nann, 1x pilau rice, 1x Malayan Chicken Curry (which is with pineapples) and 1x Pathia Chicken Curry (Sweet & Sour with a tiny kick). All for a little under £17 takeaway.Definitely won't let it be that long until we have another one from our local. Worth a try if you've never had one from here. Might even try a sit down meal next time.

Top class curry joint. Great food, perfectly spiced. Great staff. Good waiting time. I can recommend the chicken Tia Baltic jalfrazi, Randal and Ceylon.

Went with a large group. I can't speak for everyone but my meal was one of the worst I have ever hadThe chicken pieces in my biryani were very very small. The predominant taste was salt. Wouldn't even have guessed it was a curry if I had been served it anywhere elseThe staff were friendly but that didn't make up for the poor meal

My regular curry house which I go to has gone down hill of late, so armed with the motivation to try somewhere new, I was lured into trying the Taste of India by my brother-in law who lives near it and swears by it. So the four of us tried this place out to expand experience.To be very honest, I was disappointed by the takeaway. From what I was told, I was expecting a lavish game changing meal, filled with promise and hope, but all I got was a rather average meal, which I have had a lot better from elsewhere, and also had worse (but not many worse). It was edible and for the sake of a full belly for £7 per person, it was a good price. But I did find the curry a bit bland of flavour and excitement.I got Chicken Tikka Masala. (Standard dish for me) and I found that not overly too flavoursome in comparison to what have got elsewhere. The chicken content wasn't much at all. I counted about 6 bits of chicken, which for the dish that size, which is big enough and was split between two people is a massive let down. Probably why it was so cheap as the more expensive meat content was slimmed down.This was accompanied with meat rice, good size portion and the rice tasted good, however I have had a lot better elsewhere. Everywhere else you get actual lumps of meal in the rice whereas here the meat did seem almost powder like.Onion Bahjis were good tasting, but very small, and the naan bread was very good. Up to standard.With a lot of places they throw in a couple of poppadoms and a salad when you make a largish order. We received a pot of mango chutney and nothing else. What am I going to do with a rogue, lone mango chutney?So all in all, great price for what we got, but for what we got was very average. They were very polite on the phone though.

Really not good, we ordered a biryani and chicken Ceylon they both tasted the same, not really very spicy, chicken had a strange texture and not much if it. The the naan, raw! I could have cooked a better curry in the time we waited, won't be so lazy next time and save some money.

I have been going here for many years and only just got round to reviewing it. Normally have the good old chicken tikka masala and it is genuinely the best I have ever had so much flavour and at a decent price too. The waiters and owners are always very nice and it is clean and a nice atmosphere if I could give it 6 star rating I would!

We have been going to this restaurant for just over a year now and have not been disappointed. The food is always lovely and you can really taste all the different flavours, the staff are very friendly and welcoming unlike some places in Ipswich. I ordered a Garlic Chicken Tikka Main and it was brought out on a sizzling plate and looked mouth watering and was full of flavour. My partner had a Balti dish and was really impressed. Overall another great meal as always.

Another top Indian restaurant I have been to over a few years for very good food very good manners and good ambience and friendly staff.

Having previously eaten at the Taste of India we were very surprised to find that there was only one other couple eating when we arrived (they soon left and we had the restaurant to ourselves for most of the evening). The meal was average and the staff were not very welcoming. Both the food and service fell well below par compared with our previous visits last year.

They do a special for £8.50. Starter, main, rice or nan. Absolutely delicious!!! Excellent service! Can't wait to visit again

Having spent some years living in West Yorkshire we have got used to a very high standard of Indian Cuisine and this being my first visit to an Indian restaurant in this area I was a little concerned that it wouldn't match what I had experienced before. However I have to say that the food was excellent and the service was good. The premises lacks very much atmosphere though as I was eating with a large group this was less significant than it would have been if I had been dining alone or with my wife. Drinks and sundries were somewhat expensive though Sunday to Thursday they have a deal for a starter, main and either rice or naan for £8.95. I would probably visit again

We've been going here for a couple months now and can say they have become are favourite Indian. Me and my wife recommended this place too all our family and friends and have become close friends with the owner.The waiters are all really friendly and always make sure your getting the best service possible. Two curries, and loads of other bits ordered. Tasty enough, but the meat was pretty tough. Forgot discount. Not great. Not what it used to be.

Wanted to try the food here as I had heard good things about it. Unfortunately they got the order wrong. Their response was "mistakes happen" which of course they do but they didn't offer to resend the correct order, the implication being we had to lump it. So a big negative for attitude / service I'm afraid. The food quality was fine.

We have started ordering from this place recently after our local takeaway on Penzance road started to disappoint. This restaurant is only a few minutes away and I don't know why we haven't though of ordering from here before as the food was just fabulous. After our 5th takeaway order we just knew this was the place for us. The food is outstanding and couldn't be faulted. The delivery driver was also very polite and arrived on time.

This was probably our third or fourth visit to Taste of India and not disappointed.Came with my husband and son, all had starters, mains, side dishes and drinks and came to a tad over £60 in total.Coconut fish soup was lovely and the king prawn biriyani was awesome, no skimping on the prawns. Massive portions which is just as well as both hubby and son have very healthy appetites!Yes, you do have to wait a while sometimes but in our experience, its always been worth it. We'll definitely be coming back again.

Been visiting this restaurant regularly for over a number of years and have never been disappointed. Food always made to perfection and you can really taste all the different flavours and spices. The new chef with over 15yrs experience has really made this place the best Indian in Ipswich. Highly recommended!!

Visited as a group of 13 for a colleagues leaving do. The attitude of the staff became apparent when one of the group had not decided what starter he would like. When he asked for some more time the waiter pretty much told him no and was very aggressive & confrontational in his manner. The next incident occurred when the mains came out. Everyone had their meals apart from one. The waiter went to give her a lamb dish to which she explained it wasn't hers as she doesn't eat lamb. Again the waiter was extremely rude and accused her of ordering the lamb dish! He did not offer to change it so another member of the group had to kindly swap his dinner with her! Again, the waiter was extremely aggressive in his manner. We all ordered from the set menu which states you get a coffee or ice cream. We were offered neither!! This was the first visit for many of group & will definitely be the last. We can't fault the food but unfortunately it was the worst & rudest service I have ever come across.

We were recommended a restaurant in Penshurst Way (?) but one of us (yes me) forgot the satnav. Not being familiar with Ipswich we decided to revisit the Taste of India.Though nearly empty of customers, our starters took a very long time to arrive, No sooner had we finished the starters and the main courses were served up, no time at all for a break between courses. The starters had been hot but the mains were luke warm, The ingredients including my sorry looking side salad were definitely poor quality. The waiter looked bored and the overall atmosphere was dead. Must remember to bring the satnav next time.

Went on Valentine's evening, could not find our booking!! Sat down at 7.20pm took order at 8.30, received meal at 9.20 which was tasteless and cold, complained about poor services just walked off and ignored me!! Asked for drinks twice as he forgot to get out drinks!! Never again staff so rude!!!

Very nice and good value.Had a meal here on a Friday night as a party of 5. I was in two minds after reading previous reviews however I was pleasantly surprised. Although there didn’t seem to be many staff, they were all friendly and service was very good. The food was excellent and very good value for money compared to other Indian restaurants around Ipswich. Parking is good as well. I will certainly be going back and I think if I lived local to this place I would get vey fat after a while!

What a mistake to go to Taste of India. I'm still not sure if the apparent rudeness of the manager was deliberate or if he suffers some sort of mental health issue. Once we got seated the laughably incompetent waiter managed to bring the wrong drinks followed by the wrong starters, and then pretty much ignored us as much as possible thereafter. Our main courses were cold, boring and tasteless. Never again.

Poor service very very slow the staff not friendly felt like they didn't want me there, food ok but both our dishes tasted the same? Drinks are very expensive! Overall I won't be going back so many more better restaurants locally

I've given up dining in the Taste of India due to poor and slow service and poor quality meals. I've even cut down on takeaways for the same reason. My last takeaway consisted of a chicken balti with naan. The balti tasted so bitter it was uneatable and it ended up in the recycling bin. At least the rice was edible. The naan was stodgy and cold and looked like a leftover from another meal. The manager does not seem to take negative comments seriously. His reply to reviewer sophieshuffle's comment was plainly insulting and his attempt to rubbish her valid complaint was appalling as were his replies to complaints about slow service. Insulting unhappy customers is not the answer to resolving long standing issues with poor service and poor quality food. A change of management could be the answer.

I was not happy with my experience with taste of India, I had to wait over an hour for my order and when I called up I wasn't really given an apology that it is late or that it was going to be with me anytime soon and I will not go to taste of India again.

We decided to eat in rather than take out, friendly service, excellent value for money... Set meal for £8.95 if I remember, shame about the poor reviews as we have a takeaway every couple of weeks and our only complaint is sometimes it's not spicy enough!

We came here again as an impulse curry night. We do come here quite regularly, and enjoy a regular takeaway too. This occasion was a Monday night, where the midweek deal gives great value. There was a big football match on the telly, so we had the place to ourselves. Everything was therefore cooked to order. The starters were fine, and there is no doubt that the Tandoori stuff is quite the best I have had. The chef has a real touch with that tandoor. I had the mixed grill with naan, my wife had the garlic chicken Tikka. Excellent indeed, with the Tikka moist and full of flavour. The naan bread too was very tasty, and a perfect compliment to the Tandoori flavours. Don't order the garlic chicken unless you really like garlic! We found the service relaxed and informal, and Joy the manager came to check personally that everything was Ok with the meal. I note some recent poor reviews here, and I am surprised to see them, actually. All I can say is that for £8 a head plus drinks for two courses you wont get a better Indian meal.

We decided to stop off at the Taste Of India for an evening meal on our way home from an event in Martlesham. The restaurant was surprisingly lacking in customers. A grumpy waiter took our order. My bhaji starter was barely warm and without any source provided it was rather stodgy. I didn't finish it. Two of us ordered quite different chicken dishes but both meals came with the same dark grey source - not very appealing. The restaurant atmosphere was cold with very little character. When we left we bought some hot and tasty spring rolls from the Chinese takeaway next door and munched our way through them on our drive back home.

Very quiet restaurant. Had to wait an hour for our starters, which were quite good.Main course very average,bordering on poor. £8.95 special deal ended up at £22 per head, with 2 beers. If it wasn't so close to my house I'd go elsewhere.

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and I must say that the food is lovely. The staff are very attentive and the prices are reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

The food was nice, pretty average for an Indian restaurant. However the evening was ruined by terrible service. On a very quiet evening it took the waiter far too long to take our order. When the bill arrived we were shocked by the total. I felt cheated when discovering we had been charged for papadoms that appeared no where on the menu, as well being charged for a far more expensive wine that I ordered. When bringing this up with the waiter he refused to acknowledge that I ordered the house wine and not the most expensive bottle on the menu, meaning we had to pay for thier mistake. This completely ruined our evening therefore I shall not be returning here again.

Lovely staff, Mohidy is lovely .... I can not believe my plates are empty ;-) love it ... and all food was lovely and very, very tasty !!!

Great night at the a Taste of India. Food was exceptional, as was the service and all for a great price. It may have been our first visit, but definitely not our last!
