Taste of India in Bromley

Both my Father and I have dined at Taste of India many times over the last 20 years and their local reputation, service and food is second to none. They are one of the few restaurants that don’t deliver but when dining in on a Friday or Saturday night you can tell how popular snd well established they are just by the amount of people that travel to the restaurant to collect their favourite currys and you’ll see they are busier with collections than any local take away. I would suggest the previous poster takes up his issue with the Taste Card people before slurring Taste of Indias’ name in these reviews. I would rate the integrity of the owner managers at this establishment without question and they are certainly far from liars! Do not hesitate in enjoying a great evening at Taste of India you will not be disappointed! 👍

Been here several times. Great restaurant, excellent food, good value for money, Staff friendly. Food is freshly prepared so takes time to cook but well worth the wait.

This is one of several indian restaurants located in Elmers End so why choose this one?. This is a more traditional curry house menu, relatively small in size. There is a nice pleasant atmosphere inside. The waitor service was friendly without being over fussy and the staff were also helpful and informative about their menu and the relative strengths and hotness of their food. It is moderately priced and so is good value for money. The dishes we ate were excellent, tandoori chicken and chicken khorai. The quality of the ingredients were excellent and were spiced and cooked well and served hot. The side orders were also enjoyable including sag and bhrindi bargi and the portion sizes were ample. They had a good range of beers to accompany our curry and you can order halves, if you wish. The cost was reasonable with a voluntary additional service charge, well deserved. Therefore, I would recommend this place as a very pleasant moderately priced, enjoyable traditional Friday curry night out.

Sunday lunchtime curry. What could be better?! We were meeting friends who suggested this restaurant as it was well known to them. The set price buffet was delicious with options available for this who eat meat and for those who do not. Recommended.

I have visited this lndian rfestaurant for many years. The service and food is excellent. No wonder here has won awards for best restaurant.

Have been going to this restaurant now for many years and have never been disappointed. The staff are wonderful, so polite and the food is delicious and not too expensive. Have tried other restaurant and they are never as good as this one. We don't go anywhere else now when we want an Indian, whether it be eating out or a take away it really is the best!

A group of about 30 of us came here to celebrate a birthday and had their £ 8.95 Sunday. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly. The buffet was ok, but I was quite surprised to find French fries in an Indian buffet. The buffet included a few vegetarian dishes. One comment - There is only a single toilet for men and another for women. For men there is no urinal, only the toilet. Can have a long wait, if you need to go.

Just had the most gorgeous all you can eat buffet. For £8.95 per person there was still lots of choice and hot fresh dishes. Absolutely matches the quality of the menu choices. Can not recommend it enough !

I have been coming here to eat for years because the food is always top class and the service so friendly M Y wife even organised a firms night out here and is doing so again

myself and 5 friends had a table booked for sat evening and we got there and was seated , we ordered a drink and poppadoms , the restaurant was reasonable busy , then we asked could we place our order , and this is where the rudeness started 5 of us placed our orders and the 6th person was just making his decision when the waitor told him to hurry up as he was busy , we were all taken back by his comments and my friend said to him sorry what did you say and he said the same hurry up I'm busy, well we were astonished to be treated this way , the manager came over and the waitor said he was not rude well he was very rude, by this time 2 other tables had got up and left , they then asked us to pay for the doms not a hope in hells chance . So I would suggest do not go in here if they have more than 5 tables busy as they cannot cope and are extremely rude

A very intimate but charming restaurant, food was lovely. my only complaint would be the naan bread was a little over cooked but the chef special curry was delicious. would recommend

We have visited The Taste of India on many occasions Sunday Lunch Buffets together with Saturday nights. The staff are polite, always welcoming every time and engaging with their customers.

4 de nosotros comimos allí el 9 de abril de noche. Nos recibieron y condujeron y bebidas frescas y llegamos pronto poppadoms chutneys / después. Principales parecían tener un poco más de lo habitual, quizá debido a numerosos pedidos para llevar, el restaurante era sorprendentemente tranquila, pero cuando no todo era buen nivel usual. Nos registramos en forma regular. Los precios son muy buenos aquí - pagamos £100, incluida una gran propina y estábamos llenos y había tenido 8 grandes cervezas cobra. Además de bebidas gratis en el final con "choccies" - encantadora. Yo le daría 4. 5 estrellas si pudiera. Volveremos pronto.

Cogido de la entrega de la peor comida india que he tenido. Aguado dal que no tenía sabor alguno. Nan pesada, incluso el [3] Tandoori ptawns eran decepcionantes. A la izquierda toda la comida excepto 1 gambas y una cucharada de dal y arroz. Nunca use de nuevo.

We've never had a bad meal from this restaurant. Whether it is a takeaway or a sit down. The food is good and the service excellent

There are many restaurants in Backenham but one of the restaurant is there which is The Taste of India, Truly serve the good,healthy and original Indian traditional food.

Me and my family have been coming to Taste of India for over 10 years and it's by far the best Indian restaurant we have ever been too. Excellent service!! The food is amazing!! Never had a bad meal and would recommend it to anyone. Highly recommended

Not the biggest restaurant and it can get busy with takeaway orders Friday/Saturday evenings, however the food is excellent.... friendly service and worth the wait. We've been going to the taste of India for close on 22 years it never disappoints.

After visiting this Restaurant, we were quite disappointed with the food and service. Everything is very average and the food is not particularly good. Probably due to the vast menu on offer. We found the chicken overcooked and dry, and my Wife's Jal Frezi didn't taste much different to my Madras! It seems like the base of these dishes were the same. The staff, although friendly, didn't offer a very personal service, and we waited ages for the final bill to arrive. An average price for a very 'samey' curry, which fairly well sums up this restaurant. OK if all you want is a curry and a beer, but if you require passion and fresh, there are much better restaurants within walking distance. We wont return.

It is about time to say something about the Taste of India in Beckenham. I have been there many times and simply put it is a very good Indian restaurant. They have a vast menu that caters for everyone, including a small menu of non Indian cuisine for those in a party that do not fancy Indian food. The food is wonderfully prepared, perfectly balanced, fresh and well presented. All dishes I tried (many along the years) have all been good excellent and never been disappointed. They do Sunday buffets and once again they are lovely.Pricewise, it is of very good value, especially considering the beautiful portions they serve. Without a doubt you will be happy to leave a tip because it is well deserved.The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, it is often full of people, however, the service is spot on. You are never left hanging around and the waiters never look stressed, bored or unfriendly. They are terrific with everyone, including children.I highly recommend the Taste of India, you will not be disappointed.

The food is always delicious and packed with flavour without there being an overuse of salt. The staff are attentive and very friendly. I've been going here with my family and friends for over 15 years and have never had a bad meal.

Went to Taste of India over the weekend and had another lovely meal, we have been going here for date nights, family meals, gatherings and business meetings for over 18 years and are never disappointed, we have moved out of the area and will always make the drive back for the wonderful food. If we ask our phones to call home Taste if India is dialed.

This has to be the best Indian restaurant around for miles! Everything you need for a restaurant experience; great staff who are attentive, friendly and accommodating to your needs and simply fantastic food at great value. I have been to loads of Indian restaurants as it is mine and my boyfriends favourite cuisine , and this one will always be our number one choice. The little extras the staff do like opening the door , changing parts of the food to suit your taste and giving a nice drink on the house after your meal makes it all worthwhile. Thank you so much for your service and great food. The pistachio kulfi is lovely!!!! As is all the food!!! You will see us again very soon!! From the young man and woman who work in Westminster :)

I was a regular here years ago but moved out of the area, when visiting friends I suggested we go for dinner here & was hoping that it was still the same good service & excellent food . . . I wasn't disappointed!!! . . I was remembered by the staff, & made to feel so welcome, the food was delicious & I had a wonderful evening. I can't wait to visit again. I would highly recommend if you enjoy good Indian food in a great atmosphere.

Unlike most modern Indian restaurant the taste of India isn't trying to fool the consumer with its elegance and style, but is only concerned in producing fantastic food, and to be honest that's all I care about. I regard this the best in beckenham, so try and I promise you won't be disappointed.

We have been eating at Taste of India since it first opened 21 years ago and it has always been regarded as an excellent restaurant.As always we received a warm welcome from Nassa and his team and get the window table.The poppadums were crisp and the chutneys fresh and tasty.No starter this time, straight into the main dishes.As the New Year had arrived, it was time for a change from my usual test piece, chicken dhansak vindaloo hot with finely chopped green chilli mixed in with the sauce.I ordered the healthy option, Chicken Shashlic & Salad. I made a joke of having this dish vindaloo hot with finely chopped green chilli added, to my surprise they said that would be absolutely fine.So we order 2 Chicken Shashlic, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Chops, tarka dal, plain rice and of course the mandatory onion bhaji. Cold cobra’s and sparking water this time went well with the food.The Lamb Chops were a smaller portion than before and Nassa immediately served a few more to the table and they were extremely tasty, the chicken tikka and shashlik were both superb, super succulent chicken with heat combined with the great taste of the green chilli in the shashlik.The onion bhaji were large and cooked to perfection.The food was also reasonably priced and the portions generous enough to have a take away for the next day.Good service and a complementary drink on the house to round off a great dining experience.Will we return, absolutely Yes!

My family have been regulars for 20years and still love every visit!!!Over the years we have eaten at the Taste of India and had take always, we have found food and service wonderful. We have introduced friends over the years and they agree it is hard to beat.

I have been going here at least fortnightly for quite a while now because not only is it convenient but also very friendly and exceptional value for money! Most recently I have enjoyed the Chicken Pathia and Garlic Chicken dishes as well as the "potpourri" Thali. I aloso love the Kulfi and cannot be over complimentary about this place and will continue to be a regular!

We used to live just round the corner to Taste of India some 16 years ago and a night free without the kids thought we would relive our past youth and reminisce. There were 2 staff that remembered us which took us by surprise. The food was as good as we remembered and the decor exactly the same just goes to show you do not always need to refit a restaurant to make a place work.Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Indian food.

We went here for Fathers' Day, my dad, me, my mum my wife and my two daughters and we were made very welcome. Unlike many such restaurants (and sadly there are relatively few) it also offers a la carte on a Sunday and indeed - as we did - allows mix and match where you pay £7.95 per adult to graze on the buffet plus any extra specific dishes you want from the menu. Try it - you'll love it.

Ordered a take-away meal at the weekend and was dissapointed, the lamb curry was runny with lots of onions and the chicken bhuna had a piece of rubber band in it.I called them and spoke to the manager he said that the rubber band had probably come from the corriander, he did not offer any replacement dishes or goodwill gesture.totally bewildered by their lack of customer service. " Hit & Run " because they take your money and run from responsibility.

So how was the meal? Absolutely spot one and as good as ever.The Lamb Chops were a generous portion and extremely tasty, the dhansak was superb, super succulent chicken with heat combined with the great taste of the green chilli.The onion bhaji were large and cooked to perfection.A large bottle of Cobra and a bottle of Merlot were reasonably priced and went well with the food.The food was also reasonably priced and the portions generous enough to have a take away for the next day.Good service and a complementary drink on the house to round off a great dining experience.Will we return, absolutely Yes!

We went to this restaurant as a result of the good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were slightly disappointed. The food was adequate but not brilliant - had chicken madras which tasted nice but the chicken was very dry and not tender. The biggest disappointment was the service. The restaurant was not busy and yet we had to ask three times if we could place our order - one very surly waiter who was folding napkins told us to wait as he was too busy! I wouldn't bother with a repeat visit - there are other local Indian restaurants which are better.

This is the best Indian Restaurant for those of us who are lucky enough to live near by but well worth a visit even if you do not. The food is so delicious and the people who work there are just so helpful and friendly and nothing is to much trouble,they make you feel very welcome. This restaurant is a must for curry lovers, the aromas from each dish as they are placed in front of you are just so wonderful and it all tastes so fresh as it should be.

I am staying in beckenham for last two years & this restaurant has been my regular dinner stop. The food is awesome,staffs are very friendly & service is impeccable. Overall the best indian restaurant for any curry lovers in the surrounding area. I have been going to all the different Indian restaurant in croydon & in beckenham but this restaurant beats them all. I would definately reccomend it and a big thumps up from me. I am sure the number of long time loyal customer they have speaks volume about this place. go go for it!!!!!!

We've only been living in Beckenham for the past 6 months and throughout that time we've been looking for a decent Indian restaurant and tonight we found it!From the moment we walked in, I just felt it was going to be good. The staff were very friendly and our first surprise was the very reasonably priced wine list - a good start.The popadoms were crisp and the chutneys fresh and tasty. It all seemed too good to be true, so we waited for our starter and main course with some trepidation. We were not disappointed, both were excellent, good portions, excellent quality and flavour.To round off the evening, I paid the bill and then the manager Nassa offered us a complimentary drink, how kind was that! We will certainly go again as well recommend this excellent restaurant to our friends. Great food, excellent service, reasonably priced, what more could you ask for.

We love curry, and having just moved to Beckenham we decided we'd sample one of the local curry houses. We went for Taste of India as the reviews on here were so great. We got a take away and were not disappointed. The meat was tender, flavours were divine (my curry had something like cinnamon in which made it a bit different to the norm), the naan was really tasty and rice was fluffy. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Went to dinner last week to the Taste and thoroughly enjoyed the night. This restaurant is quite small but very cosy, when we arrived we were greeted by one of the most friendliest waiters I have ever encountered. The staff here are the highlight of the restaurant but the food is a close second. We had starters and mains and not one complaint, the food here is absolutely delicious. After we paid we were then offered a complimentary drink, which is such a great way to end a lovely night so if your in the area you have to call into the Taste to experience fab food and fab staff.

This has been one of my favourite Indian restaurants for some time. The food is excellent and the service friendly and professional. Its a small cosy venue that is well decorated and very clean. Three of us had a main meal, a side dish and soft drinks. The bill came to £51. We were also offered a complimentary drink from anything behind the bar.

My husband and I have been eating at this restaurant for 16 years now, and as the title says we have never been disappointed. Whenever we have an Indian meal elsewhere we always compare it to the taste of India, and there will be something which will not measure up. The staff are very polite, courteous and professional. They know lots of customers by name and ask about family, which is nice as when you go out for a meal it's not just for the food but the whole experience. The food is excellent, I mainly have chicken tikka , which is always moist and tender and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous and well presented. They will prepare a different dish if you ask, I sometimes have a courgette side dish. Lovely.All the time we have been going there I have not noticed silly increases in prices, I am sure they must have gone up !! But no stupid hickes . The wine list is varied and the prices very good. People come from miles away to this restaurant, it's family friendly as well. But the food is absolutely brilliant. And you get a complimentary drink at the end.

This is my local Indian restaurant which has a very good reputation, before I go any further I must admit that I do not like Indian cuisine, but my friends and my Wife love it, so I had Lamb Chops and rice, and usual as I have found in other Indian establishments, the lamb chops are frazzled and not very pleasant, however my Wife and friends enjoyed their meal of various dishes followed by tea and coffee.The ambiance of the establishment is good with good clean toilets, attentive staff etc.

I have been eating curry's and Indian food in general for more than forty years - and in all that time I don't think I have had a better meal than the one I ate recently in this restaurant.Everything about the place oozes class. The linens and cutlery are spotless. The decor is convivial. The waiting staff and management are all friendly and highly proficient.....but the undoubted jewel in the crown is the food. The menu is huge and thankfully mainly traditional in variety. All the food I ordered was beautifully presented and cooked - and it tasted wonderful.I can't sing the praises of this establishment highly enough. Go soon - you won't be disappointed.

Now, I love a curry (for which my waistline will never forgive me) and over the years I've had a lot - some good and some pretty awful. But it's easy for me to say that this was one of the best I have ever eaten - hats off to the chef and the front of house staff - wow! I love spicy food and ordered Hash Jalfrezi (Hot Duck) and it was gorgeous. The meat melted in the mouth and while spicy was not overpowering - just lovely. My wife had a milder Lamb dish which she said was superb! If this was my local Curry House - you'd always find me in there. And the bill - starters, mains, drinks £40

Just had the most spectacular meal at this fantastic curry house. Absolutely outstanding service with great attentiveness shown to my family over every detail. For presentation, portion size, cleanliness, and depth of flavour alone I would rate 5 out of 5 but for pure service this curry house gets top marks, what a wonderful night out. The chefs recommendations were greatly appreciated and were just as good as described! Can't fault at all. Won't be going anywhere else for a while... Love the winnys x

my female friends and i love it here, we go here when its one of our birthdays and spend a few hours enjoying the popadoms & dips, and mains ( we all have our favourites but i try to taste something different frequently) their peshawri naan is awesome! been going here for years and years and never been disappointed. great staff. great service and great food.

I saw that all 5 reviewers on this site had given Taste of India very high marks, so I was keen to try it out for myself. It is a medium-sized restaurant, with agreeable decor and music playing not too loudly. Service was polite and prompt, and also friendly. My favourite curry house starter is Fish Tikka/Kebab, and as Taste of India have it on the menu, I chose it immediately. It was probably the second best I've ever had - Spice Society round the corner have an even better offering (IMHO) but this was really good. Two pieces of very nice fish with (and here's where it differed from all the others I've had) grilled tomato and pepper along with the more usual onion and salad. This is a really good way of serving a fish starter. For the mains I had the Duck Jalfrezi. I've never had duck curry before, but I wasn't disappointed. The sauce was suitably spicy and delicious, but crucially you could still taste the duck - excellent. With it I had aubergine (easily enough for two) and special rice. This was excellent food and at a very reasonable price indeed. This corner in Elmers End has several very good restaurants - I suspect they have to be in order to survive against the competition next door. Taste of India is well worth a visit.

Me and my fiance visited Taste of India for a Valentines meal.. Where do I start? From the quality and taste of food to staff to service to hygiene to everything was just spot on!! The staff are very warm, welcoming and friendly! The food- Well all I can say is it was Indian I've ever had! I highly recommend this place and rate it 10/10 just becuase everything was perfect!!!

We frequently visit for great value Sunday buffet, one of the few my brother in law will eat at! Very clean, nicely lit and the food is delicious and never too oily.Tried it one evening when Chef's special was King Prawn Sagra - magnificent, proper huge prawns in delicious sauce beautifully presented. All the food was tasty fresh and good value too.Waiters pleasant, as attentive as you wish them to be, and overall contributed to a lovely evening out. Both my companions felt the same. Must go again soon.

After looking at all the restaurant reviews in Beckenham on Trip Advisor, we decided on Indian and went to "Taste of India" (Elmers End).From the time we arrived at the restaurant, it was friendly, welcoming and the service was first class. Taste of India is a hidden gem, with excellent food and would certainly recommend it to anyone.I really don't know why there isn't more reviews of this restaurant, but they obviously don't need it, as it was full of people dining in-house and a lot of take-away customers.We will certainly be returning soon.

I've been eating Indian food for nearly forty years particularly in the Croydon and South East London, and in the Taste of India for nineteen of those years and I can say,without fear of contradiction, that I have never had a bad meal there. The food is tasty and well presented. The portion sizes won't leave you hungry. The staff are extremely knowledgable and attentive, and the prices are within most peoples' budget. There are two other Indians on Elmers End green. My advise would be give them a try but I guarantee you'll return to the consistency and quality of the Taste of India !

One of the best Indian Restaurants in the area especially the Croydon area, excellent food very clean in restaurant not complacent like a lot of Indian establishments. This is one of my favourite restaurants overall.
