We’ve always ordered from here and always loved the food but the food was completely inedible, dry and tasted horrendous. We spent a good amount of money for all of it to go in the bin. A real shame. I won’t be ordering from there again.

I have been visiting Taste of China for what must be close to 15 years now. It is by far the best Chinese in the local area. The food is always fresh and tasty and the staff warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the Satay Chicken.. Honestly, better than any I have had in Thailand or Indonesia. I really can't say enough about how good this place is.. So much so, I will be picking up another takeaway tonight lol

We looked at the take away menu but then decided to eat in. £25 each and minimum of 2 people. My friend and I choose the Vegetarian dishes. He had a beer. I had a non alcoholic drink as I was driving. Vegetarian platter excellent with extra spring rolls. Yellow. Bean prawn and cashew, soft noodle with bean sprouts, steamed rice excellent, a dish seasonal vegetables with oyster sauce was ok as needed more variety of vegetables. Talked about the Birds nest which is a special dish made the potatoes in a nest and a filling. I had this in Portugal with a friend from.Macau. Next time ring up and they will prepare it. Friendly staff.

We have used this takeaway for over a year and have always had great service and have loved the food. Tonight however has been a disaster, had a very long wait for our takeaway, approx double the time we were told, on getting the food home the starters were of poor quality, the chicken and ribs both over cooked and no longer of the expected soft consistency which we always love. Our main course was of dubious quality, the roasted duck poor and my wife’s king prawn dish was not in our order but we did have sewer and sour chicken which she does not like. Very sad that we now need to look for a new takeaway as we will not go back, especially as the service was so poor. Please beware!

Have eaten here for many years and can't fault the food, but when ordering a takeaway we always seem to be missing a dish, happens way too often, last night ordered early very large order two dished missing, my husband went to pick up missing dished and had to wait ages, not impressed 😢

Have been coming here on and off for a longtime but most often get a takeaway which has always been consistently good. Never have to wait long after you have ordered it and it is pretty speedy at the moment as we come out of the lockdown. Not had a bad meal yet.

Ordered a take away, have to say was the worst Chinese I have ever eaten. The chicken in the sauce dish was like rubber, I couldn't eat it. The smoked shredded chicken was covered in so much sugar again I could not eat it. The only thing that was edible was the plain boiled rice! Choose another take away.

We have been coming to Taste of China for takeaways for over 10 years. We have tried other Chinese food in the area over the years but Taste of China consistently delivers very good quality Chinese food. Highly recommended.

Been coming here in excess of 10 years. Stopped going as I felt it was not as good as it once was. However, went there last night and WOW just how it was when I used to visit regulary. Satay Chicken, so soft and full of flavour. Highly recommend this place again now. Owner is also very friendly

Visited the restaurant last night with a group of friends. Our food was served quickly and the service was excellent all evening. For £19.50 you can eat as much as you like and everything we ordered was delicious.

Far too expensive now, the staff don’t care, waited 45 mins for the mixed hors douvers , then another 50 mins for the duck, then 1 hour for the mains.... too fed up by then to bother. Steer clear.

Just left there this evening. Took the family for a nice meal. (Or so I thought). Got there at 6-20 pm. We were the only ones there apart from one man. Ordered the starters mixed hors d’oeuvres, And Duck, came at , 6-55. The Duck came at 7-35 pm. Ordered the mains, came at 8-30 pm. One girl was working in the restaurant. This is the 2nd time in 4 weeks we have been and it was worse than the last time. Not only that, never get a chopstick offered, don’t get a finger bowl, not even an apology for the appallingly slow service. The food quality is gone right down the pan. This was an excellent restaurant years ago. But sadly not anymore. After been a customer for a very long time, I’m afraid it’s time to find somewhere else.

For many years we have used this Chinese. This evening we placed the order with a young blonde girl with no customer service skills. The order was incorrect when it arrived at our door, we rang and explained she informed us she was doing us a favour by deliverying to us as we are banned from the restaurant (news to us) she also said we were rude to the delivery driver ! so went to the restaurant to return the wrong item ! Mean while are dinner is getting ruined On arrival she was informed she had the wrong family ! She didn’t say sorry and continued to call myself and my dad rude ! This young girl continued to be disrespectful and argumentative she clearly shouldn’t be in this industry and needs some serious training ! I wouldn’t recommend this Chinese as she clearly has no idea what she is doing ! A complaint will be made to management

Really surprised by negative comments, we have been 3 times now and never been disappointed . We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful , so patient with our autistic son. Food was hot fresh and very flavoursome. We come 20 miles to this restaurant as it was recommended to us . I hope more people take the time to compliment this restaurant as it is a little gem.

Ok - so not sure where to begin! We normally have a take away from every couple of months - but last night we decided to have a sit down meal after a long and very sad day (been to a Funeral) We approached the counter where there was a young girl and I believe the owner - we were left standing for at least 3 minutes with our and acknowledgment - eventually the gentleman looked up and said won't be a minute - "Ok" At last the young girl said "Yes can I help you" Yes do you have a table for 3? Yes that will be £58.20 please! Er sorry I haven't come to pick up a take away - we would like a table - after the third attempt the girl mentions to us that they have to charge before hand as they've had customers ordering and walked out without paying!!! So why didn't you mention that in the first place - if we realised we properly wouldn't of gone in!! To top it up - there wasn't even a good selection of Wine to choose from - and when we did choose something they didn't even have it!!! It's such a shame as Longfield has really gone down hill - there isn't even a descent Restaurant in the area any more.... TASTE of CHINA - please sort yourself out.... A Chinese Restaurant can't be run by English people they need to be CHINESE.....

Ive been coming here a few times now and each time I have been less and less impressed, the manager was rude and unhelpful and the staff were being abused from what i saw.

Have come here a few times for takeaway but won’t be from now on. Walked in tonight, lady in front of us being served and we were next in line. All of a sudden a guy walks in and is served before us. Girl is taking his card payment and trying to take my order which was very rude as she wasn’t even looking at me whilst as she was concentrating at serving this other guy. Two other members of staff standing around not doing much. Shambles! Went to New ash green for takeaway instead which was lovely.

Drove 20 minutes to pick my order up, and 20 minutes back to find that the chicken in the 2 chicken curry dishes was raw. Luckily we had other dishes to fill the space. Everything else was okay. After eating I called the restaurant to tell them that the chicken was raw and asked for a refund on just the 2 chicken curry dishes. The person who initially answered the phone didn’t say anything and put me onto the phone to someone who I assume was the manager/owner who before even letting me speak was arguing down the phone to me. She would not let me get a word in, she was point blank refusing the chicken was raw and basically making me out to be a liar. repeatedly asked me to drive 20 minutes to the restaurant so she could SHOW ME the chicken that they cook. She then slipped up and said that they order in ‘COOKED CHICKEN’ and that they reheat it (trying to cover herself by this utter lie which is disgusting even if it was true). Sick and tired of arguing with this woman I told her that I have pictures and I will be writing this poor review, and at that point she put the phone down on me. If any of my family get ill following this experience then I will be going to the food standards agency.

It was alright when we visited, not the best but when we got take away it was so dry and tasteless. Staff were lovely though.

I went to the restaurant this evening! And wow! The food is incredible and it’s so tasty! I cannot believe this place is so underrated locally! Will definitely be back!

Great take away service, always speedy, good size portions and great value for money. More expensive when eating in, as you would expect, but great choice on the buffet menu and all cooked to order.

Our normal chinese restaurant has shut down so we thought we would give this one a go. We have had the takeaway from here so thought we would give the restaurant a go.

We get fairly regular takeaways from here and the food is absolutely fine. It is just a shame the restaurant has such a bad reputation locally due to there being no atmosphere. Looks / feels like a cafe. It's very bright with no fixtures esp. anything to represent it as a Chinese restaurant. Feels cold. As a result, we haven't had a sit down meal there for many, many years which is a shame. We drive to Dartford or Gravesend if we want to eat in rather than simply walk to this place. Can't believe they can't be bothered to make the effort to improve the place. Must be missing out on a lot of business......

Been having food from here for years, if I didn't like it I certainly wouldn't use it. Although actual restaurant is basic the food is always fresh and hot. Staff can be a little slow, but friendly.

Went here Sunday night for a take away, has come down hill quite a lot over the year, it’s dirty inside to start with, then food wise, we got two sweet and sour portions with rice they were horrible the chicken was tough and uneatable and just did not taste right so we did not eat eighter of them, we also got chicken satay which was very nice lovely chicken and nice flavour like how could each dish be so different, we had duck pancakes also but we will not go there they went straight into the bin, it’s a shame am totally being honest here, been a customer for a long time, but will end our custom here with this review. Avoid avoid.

Our first visit, very good and pleasantly surprised. A bit sparse but very friendly great service from young waitress and I think the Lady owner. Good value but most importantly well cooked great food.

Decided to collect as delivery busy. Didn't wait to long though, worth the wait, crispy duck, BBQ ribs, special chow mien & rice all very tasty dishes, demo use again.

When I have Chinese I always get my Chinese takeaway from here and I never looked back. I haven't eaten in the restaurant area but I'm assuming it's just as nice there! The chicken chowmein and the crispy duck are well and truly Devine.

No hay mobiliario para deaden el ruido, no imangine lo que sería en una noche muy concurrida. La comida estaba bien, pero no volveré.

Nos olvidamos. Esperamos 35 minutos y luego 45 minutos para bebidas entre los aperitivos y platos principales de ordenar (tuvimos que llamar para pedir) mucha gente llegar pedidos equivocados y arroz de torcer cuando la gente había terminado! No volveré una pena, ya que era un preferido

Had a nice meal at this restaurant but there does not seem to be much atmosphere. The service was good and the food average.

This once was a very good restaurant,went 4/5 times a year,but is now only average,decor poor,food not so good,and the eat all you like price is far to high.

Not had a take out from here in a while. Now I remember why. Ordered prawns in dragon sauce and a beef curry. Both these dishes had no flavour what so ever. Not sure if it's under new management but they haven't got a clue how to cook Chinese food. Avoid it like plague to avoid disappointment

I have been to this restaurant on a few occasions and have forgiven the lack of atmosphere and the flat warm drinks, because the food was half decent, but after my last visit, I think I'll call it a day and move on. We turned up at 10:00 on a Thursday night and asked if it was okay for a table for two, the staff looked at each other and agreed that it would be okay. The large waitress then proceeded to rush us through our meal with indigestion inducing speed, so much so, that the crispy duck arrived before we had finished our first course and the food we were eating was taken from our table before we were finished. The food itself was lackluster this time, with that double fried, dry as a fart texture you associate with re-fried left overs. The second course of crispy duck left such an ominous twang in the mouth, we decided to give the main a miss, as we didn't fancy a weekend fighting over the bog. The owner tried to make things right by only charging us for what we ate, which considering we only had a water and one lemonade, came to a shade under 40 quid!!! Won't come again. That's one taste of China I hope to forget after I've cleaned my teeth.

Ordered a meal, it was promptly delivered to our door within 30 minutes. Courteous driver delivered, had change ready, although not needed. Food was perfect, in fact more than needed to fill my belly! Was yummy in my tummy!

We have eaten here for at least twenty years without complaint but I think it may have new management the original Chinese Staff have been replaced by English which some how lessens the atmosphere.The service is slow and items forgotten and a recent takeaway (a regular practise from this Restaurant) was the second time the food was very under par. Its so disappointing when a regular venue is not worth another visit.The toilet was dirty which is never a good sign and the decor does not now reflect what one expects in an "Ethnic" Chinese restaurant. "A real shame"!!

Still my favourite Chinese restaurant for Singapore Chow Mein. The flavour and quality of the food prepared here is very good. Prices are very reasonable too and customer service is always excellent, staff immediately make you feel welcome and at ease. If you phone a take-away order in advance, you can pay and collect it on arrival ten-fifteen minutes later. Parking isn't an issue if you know the area, there are free car parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant, however these are often taken, the nearest full size car park is a choice between the free Waitrose customer car park, or the train station car park on the corner (which is Pay & Display). The ambiance inside the restaurant has been greatly improved since my last review, and there are now plenty of tables for two to enjoy a romantic meal together. The arrangement of the restaurant also means you aren't on show like many other establishments, and can relax. If you are after an enjoyable Chinese meal then this is certainly somewhere well worth the journey to try. The only slight negative is the waiting area for take-away customers, which is small, and you have to get past waiting customers to visit the main seated restaurant area, but as many regulars know to phone in their orders, that isn't often a problem!

Fantastic food here, we have eaten here many a time and enjoyed every time thoroughly! We regularly eat here, sweet and sour with fried rice. Pancake rolls, ribs! Only shame is they don't take cards!

The restaurant itself is far from luxurious, romantic or glamorous but it's still well worth a visit.They operate a fixed price, order whatever you like deal all the time (I think) and the food is plentiful, quick to arrive, reasonable quality and really tasty. You can keep on ordering until your belt won't go any bigger and the house white is cold, fairly priced and very, very drinkable! All the waiting staff are English kids which I found strange on my first visit but soon got over it. They are really efficient, helpful, patient and flexible and most recently we were served by a young lady who was superb. Overseeing them is a super friendly Chinese lady who runs a tight ship. It's a local gem so give it's whirl. And eat hard.

Whether it's a takeaway or eating in service is always brilliant and food is high quality and fresh. Never had a bad meal from there. Staff are always polite and friendly and the delivery drivers are just fab! Lots of choice on the menu too so there's something for everyone whether you enjoy Chinese cuisine or not! Reasonably priced as well.

Having come here after a pavala of service at Golden Dragon, Hartley - I must say, brilliant. Service was great, and food was so much better than Golden Dragon. Also didn't have to go to the pub for a drink. Will now be using taste of China as our go to Chinese.

There was a slow and poor service. Waiting ages for them to take our orders, food does not come out atonce, had to wait for one meal. So food was cold. Will not be going back again. Dont bother trying them. It was not even busy that night.

Absolutely lovely food! Always have a fantastic meal whenever I visit this restaurant. Lots of choice on menu and food is brilliant! Fantastic service, everyone is happy to help and deliver the best service! Would strongly recommend!!!

We have an excellent Chinese restaurant within walking distance of our home that we have frequented over many years but we thought we would like to be a little more adventurous and try a different Chinese restaurant. Being wary of change, we decided to sample a take away before deciding on eating in the restaurant itself. The next piece is stated without prejudice: on walking in, to our mind, the staff were love fifteen down - they were all English: again this is stated without prejudice. It's a brain to palate thing. However, we proceeded to look at the menu and order. The menu was completely in English, 100% with no respect whatsoever to Chinese. We ordered our food and were guided to sit down in the restaurant area while we waited. The table 'cloths' were paper (who has paper nowadays?) and the paper was dirty. In addition, behind the counter was a pile of what looked like dirty drying up cloths (not very pleasant to look at). The staff were quite slovenly. We took our food home, it was ok, just that, ok. But really this is simply a cafe that dishes up so called Chinese fare.

first time to eat at this restaurant, went early Saturday evening. Choice of fixed price menu as much as you can eat or a la carte. Buffet selection was excellent, and served in smaller portions to allow lots of choice and can try new dishes. We all enjoyed the food & pleasantly surprised to see the wind isn't overpriced. The restaurant was full and would recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

Have eaten here for approx 19 years, the food is always good, service good and prices reasonable. A little on the small side and a freshen up of decor would help. But if you like good food and good service look no further.

Taste of China were prompt with delivery and the food was very tasty. The prices are in line with most other Chinese take always and the quality was good. Prawn noodles smelt great and tasted just as good, chicken balls were nice and crispy (although sweet and sour sauce was VERY thick) and pork chow mein was very nice. Will be using again.

This is the best chinese in the village but you do end up paying restaurant price for take away food.

We eat here regularly even though it's quite a distance from where we live! Always great food from the all you can menu - fresh good quality ingredients and perfect service.

Difficult to describe this place....but I'll tryThe setup is halfway between a cafe and restaurant as far as the restaurant layout goes. The deal is all you can eat for about £18.00 from their full menu which is far better for us punters than an all you can eat buffet.So being able to choose our preferred dishes (mostly seafood in our case) - and as much as we wanted makes this a great value night out.Staff are very friendly and attentive with appropriate level of banterDefinately recommended if you don't mind the fairly basic surroundings

My Husband and I went to the Taste of China last night (09/01/2016). We have never been before and thought we would try it after hearing great things from our friends. When we first walked in the restaurant definitely needs a makeover and some TLC, but ignoring the décor the restaurant is amazing. The food wasgreat and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered, for £18.50 we had such lovely food and it was eat as much as you like, or as I like to call it scoff as much food down your throat before you are full lol! Our waiter was fantastic he was a tall man with ginger hair called Harry, guessing he was in his early twenties or so. He knew a lot about the food he was serving which was great to see/hear and he recommended some dishes to us to try which was also a lovely touch. We came out of the restaurant full and very happy what more can you ask for! The restaurant itself definitely needs a makeover hence why it is not a 5 star from me... We would definitely come back again and cannot wait to do so. THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANTT :)

Firstly this is currently THE best place to get Singapore Chow Mein, the quality and flavour of the food prepared here is very good. Prices are reasonable and customer service excellent, staff immediately making you feel welcome and at ease. Parking isn't an issue if you know the area, there are free car parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant, but these are often taken, the nearest full size car park is a choice between the Waitrose car park, or the train station car park on the corner (pay & display). The ambiance inside the restaurant is a little stark and the lighting quite bright, there are no nooks in which to enjoy a romantic meal for two, but if you are after an enjoyable Chinese meal this is certainly somewhere to try. Personally I prefer to order a take-away, and Taste of China certainly provide this too. If you phone your order through first, it will ready for your arrival. and this is a highly recommended practice, as the waiting area is quite cramped being located between the main entrance and restaurant counter, so it gets quite busy.

Have eaten in this venue a few times and had a few home deliveries but upon ringing for a delivery today I was told they don't deliver to my area. I questioned this but was told they were too busy. Shall not be eating there again or ordering from them again as the customer service is dreadful and to be honest I only ordered as they are local but the food isn't that good.

****Don´t be put off by the outside appearance of this restaurant.Parking is restricted but Waitrose is two minutes walk away and offer two hours free parking .The restaurant.Emily our waitress greeted us with a big smile. We were surprised she was English as normally one is greeted by a Chinese person in Chinese restaurants.She had a warm and friendly personality that made us feel very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. She suggest we try certain dishes as we had never tried before and was very knowledgeable with reference to the ingredients etc.Food was excellent and worth every penny. Please note the menu we chose was ¨Eat as much as you like¨ for 17.50 . We ordered a selection of starters,which was more than enough for 6 people then the rest followed, served on hot serving dishes and plenty of it. Unfortunately we had no more room left for dessert.**As it was my Father in law´s birthday, Emily presented him with a lovely dessert with candle.*One gripe.. The Coca-Cola was served form a large plastic Coca-Cola bottle and not individual Coca-Cola cans or bottles. This seemed strange for a restaurant these days. We were charged the same price as individual cans/bottles and not at a reduced price as one would expect.

Food is delicious and the service was friendly. Really enjoyed our visit. Looking forward to taking the family next time.

The food here is definitely a cut above the usual fare for restaurants in this price range. My only critical observation would be that the decor is rather bland and unimaginative.

Our usual takeaway was shut on a Tuesday night so we decided to try the Taste of China.Our order of over 20 items was fulfilled without any errors. It was piping hot and everyone enjoyed their choices which were very good and plentiful. Unusually for a Chinese restaurant/takeaway we were served by English people, we can recommend the takeaway.

I fancied a change for lunch so I went for Chinese l didn't want to overdo the amount. As I had a busy afternoon .I opted out of starters and went for a king prawn curry with noodles after 5 minutes up came the food ..not only did it look tasty it was full of flavour ....The cost was reasonable and I found the service good and staff polite. .Will be returning for the Sunday lunchtime meal..DAVE L ....

I have visited this restaurant numerous times over the past few years and have sung the praises of it. The food has always been excellent. My friend and I decided to visit this restaurant last Sunday and were looking forward to another lovely meal. How wrong could I be! Let me just say, my friends meal was fine. We ordered starters and these came and were lovely. We then ordered some main dishes. I ordered tried and tested dishes which I have thoroughly enjoyed in the past. This time, they were very, very poor. I had a prawn dish of which the prawns were fine but the sauce was awful, absolutely no flavour and this was supposed to be a spicy dish. I also ordered seasonal mixed vegetables in a garlic sauce. This came as a slimy mess in dish water. The Singapore Noodles were dry and left a nasty taste in my mouth. My friend tried these and said there was definitely something wrong with them. I did tell staff and was offered more dishes but had by now been totally put off. I said I might have a coffee whilst my friend finished her meal and this I did, but was flabbergasted to see that it was made with coffee granules from a jar and not fresh coffee from the coffee machine, and it didn't even taste like coffee! When we left, this coffee had been put on our bill and I refused to pay for it and it was taken off my bill. I did pay the full price for the eat as much as you like menu, but had in fact only eaten my starter and tried the other dishes. There was no manager at the restaurant, just to young people (the young man was rather impolite) and the delivery man available. If the manager had been there I would most definitely not paid the full amount for my meal. As can be expected I will not be visiting this restaurant again. Very disappointed.

We have been here twice now for the all you can eat buffet (you order from a menu) and we have really enjoyed the food both times. The menu is really varied & the quality of the food is very good.The only draw back to this restaurant in my opinion is the service - it is extremely slow & you often have to chase for drinks or food ordered. Also, staff aren't particularly clued up when you ask about dishes. That said, they are very friendly & welcoming.In terms of décor - it is very basic & could do with a refurb. However, it is clean.It is also worth noting that they have recently increased their prices from £16.50 Fri & Sat, £13.50 Sun - Thurs to £17.50 every night which I think is a bit much.

Have visited on numerous occasions and have always found the food to be tasty and plentiful. The service is ok, staff are friendly. You can't beat the set price for a family it's good value!
