Peking Garden in Dartford

I think the owner has become a bit too ‘cash greedy’ and is prioritising this over quality and quantity of food. This comes across in all aspects of the restaurant experience here - from the very basic, canteen feel of the place, to the largely unwarranted service charge and even to the very casual appearance of management and waiting staff (if you wear jeans and trainers to serve that’s fine but surely your prices should be more reflective of this if you are wanting an informal vibe)? Also the dish sizes were the same when we came here as a couple and another time as a party of 8! Don’t mind paying more but at least expect larger sizes! Shame as been a frequent customer for years.

Ordered rice takeout and got noodles instead

Although the food was nice and decent portions service was basics ie pour your own beer from bottle to glass, serve your own food from plates left on the table, hold on they did clear the plates after we had finished did leave a sour taste in our mouths when we checked the bill! The truth is we would normally have left more without asking as we normally do when we have had excellent service, work it out good service gets good tips with out having to cheekily put it on , disappointing way to treat customers

Ordered takeaway was here in 10 mins how did you cook that fresh? No you didn’t because the bottom of the food in the container of the crispy chilli beef and the beef curry sauce looked like hard jelly. Chow mien noodles were rice noodles and stuck together when taken out the container as they were so dry. Singerpoor noodled also stuck together. Also the portion size for a main was in a let’s say a starter container. Please if you are going to order choose somewhere else.

Orderd our food, with a 30 minute wait time; that was fine. The food arrived 10 minutes after ordering and the the containers were half the size as our previous orders. The food had also been microwaved, that was clear. Called the restaurant the next day and they othered a 15% discount and no apology. Terrible

Ordered delivery spring rolls were flat no filling and greasy, chicken balls were soaked in oil and empty, very disappointed I’m a long time customer think I’ll look for a new take away I waited an hour and a quarter for this 🫣🤬

The place needs a major makeover, looks very run down - but can't deny the food is 10/10, one of the best Chinese I've had

I ordered it for takeout and I had high expectations but the vegetables mini rolls were sour and the chips were soggy and the dumpster were doughy however the bbq sauce was lovely but the sweet and sour was chunky and thick and the chips were soggy

These guys are great. For once, i have an amazing chinese place near where i live. Their beef chow mein is out of this world and cooked properly where the noodles are golden brown and not just yellow. i order this with chicken fried rice and all is incredible.

Had my Birthday Bash here yesterday evening, The food and service was amazing 🤩!!

After a small meal which was actually very nice we asked for the bill. I put my card on the wallet so they knew I was ready to pay. When the waitress came over with the machine she typed in an amount which I assumed to be the same as the bill and then without giving me an opportunity to check it she picked up my card and tapped it. It was only later that I realised she had added a 10% service charge. I may or may not have given a tip but it should have been down to me not assumed by her!

Been here quite a few times and always delicious food. I unfortunately had to leave early tonight but the team were very kind and boxed my food for me to takeaway and I was able to leave quickly. My favourite Chinese in Dartford!

We have been looking for a nice Chinese takeaway since moving to Dartford almost 2 years ago but have never been completely satisfied with the ones we tried until I came across the Peking Garden on the website. That was 3 weeks ago and have had one every Saturday since. The food is delicious always piping hot, fresh, delivered within half hour and not at all greasy. We look forward to our Saturday indulgence thanks to the Peking Garden. So glad we decided to try you and will certainly continue to order from you 😋😋😊😊

Food warm to cold,chicken chewy,and when I told them one of the staff wasn't helpful and reluctant to heat up,appeared that i was not telling the truth.! Bill was £25 lady took a measly £4 off!! The dinner was hardly eaten.would not use again!! Was really loud in there too! So noisy you couldn't speak!

Speachless. Ordered at 10 past 5PM and in 20 mins food was here piping hot and the taste was amazing, everything we asked for was sorted nicely and we have been given big portions. This is my go to for chinese food and hands down also the best in dartford. If you haven't tried yet, this is a must!

Always good food. Certainly one of the best in the area. Plenty of choice and always well presented. The belly pork is delicious.

I hate doing this.. but popped in for a bite to eat. Really cold, did not take off my jacket in restaurant , partner had to leave restaurant to use adjacent business toilet(was not told)as toilets were out of use. And menu misleading, almost double the cost of what we see on menu…

So after many years of boycotting this place due to a previous complain I finally gave in and decided to revisit peking garden as they are the closest to my home address. So with the children in tow we arrived at 17:20 for a table for 4 I was advised that they were expecting a booking for 66 patrons at 18:30 knowing it was rather fine I accepted and sat down to eat from the moment go they were rushing us with our orders to fulfil our demand and what they were expecting to turn up we hadn’t even got half way through our main course and 3 of the waitresses were around our table with “ doggy bags “ taking our food away and putting it into said doggy bags to take away, which being polite I accepted I was asked if I was paying by card or cash to which I replied card and the machine was presented to me for £119 ( which I thought was quiet steep ) considering it was 1 adult and 3 kids 2x5 year olds and a 9 year old I payed asked for the receipt and left , half way down the road I realised it didn’t add up , then saw that I had been charged a discretionary 10% fee which I knew nothing about and had I of done I would have payed since I was kicked out mid dinner I phoned them and told them I wasn’t happy and I was on my way back to discuss this upon arrival the lady greeted me and honoured my charge in a form of a refund then the problem began a old man came up to me aggressively asking what the problem was so I said let’s go outside as I did not want to make a fuss infront of his other customers once we were outside he bombarded me with threats and abuse in front of my children and stormed back inside the restaurant claiming that all I wanted was a free meal which might be the case for some but I always pay my way and if deserved tip handsomely too , please read this review with great detail and don’t make the same mistake as I have tonight by giving this establishment a second chance they simply ain’t worth it ! £120 I would have rather given to charity.

Had a takeaway, first time for a while, not impressed. Beef in oyster sauce, was poor, had to add own sauce to get it to taste. Had lumps of what looked like fat, congealed all over it. Chow mien was tasteless and greasy. Chicken balls were large but hardly edible. Even the rice was poor. Not about to return any time soon

This used to be one of the best Chinese in Dartford until recently. The food is now terrible and drinks are well over priced. £5 for a soda and lime, really.

Excellent owner led service and diverse menu with specials including great veggie options and plenty of Cantonese classics. Super convenient for Takeaway and delivery but also great for dining in.

Went here last night, best Chinese food l have ever had, we were made to feel very welcome, great selection of food, so many choices, very friendly staff, very clean .

A few years ago I visited and had dinner with my wife at this restaurant. I was curious to see if it was still good as I was remembering. YES, it is. We had a great duck dish and we really were happy. Keep on is nice to go to a place visited years beforeand that keeps on.

The restaurant is very clean, friendly staff, great food. Excellent value for money. I would recommend only an illustrative menu with photos, in order to entice customers to try dishes that are not particularly well known.

We have preferred Peking Garden for many many years and over all other local Chinese takeaway/sit in restaurants. However, since covid everything has gone completely down hill and they seem to focus purely on income and not on quality. Cold food, inaccurate orders and at an ever increasing cost. Vietnamese spring rolls over cooked to point of explosion, chicken balls under cooked and soggy, rice dishes missing, spaces seemingly off and foul smelling and tasting. Quite possibly had the very last takeaway from Peking this week. It was dreadful!

Ordered on the phone and was ready in 15 mins. Friendly people been running this place for years. Food is excellent. Sometimes difficult to park close by but worth it for the quality of food. Honey prawns are delicious.

Delicious food.... Extensive menu. I was fortunate enough to be treated to dinner this evening in this restaurant. A memorable occasion indeed. Easily the best Chinese food I've had in a long, long time. Service was excellent with lovely staff and good sized portions. See you again soon will most definitely return.

Was last here 39 years ago when it was The Sun Do, so not a regular visitor! Waitress said ‘ You must’ve been a little boy’ - very kind haha! Food very tasty, hot and fresh. Quick service although male waiter could smile a bit and be friendlier. Worth a visit.

Family run business for 25 years and is still here for a reason. Good food and good service. Keep up the good work guys.

One of our favourite Chinese in Dartford. Did have a couple of wobbles as last week the noodles were burnt, the portion size are fair and the prices have gone up post covid but overall it is a good treat to have once a month etc. We normally have it delivered and they are quite honest as to how long it takes and the delivery man and the lady sometimes are very good too

Dear owner, Thanks for your response on the below review....I totally understand that you don’t allow non paying customers hence when I entered I asked your staff if I could order drinks and feed my baby & he was just rude and looked down on me. If he had said I had to order a meal I would have gladly ordered a meal for myself and the two other people who I was with....customer experience starts from the minute someone enters your premises not when they settle their bill in the end and on this occasion your staff has behaved in a way that has left a very bad experience for me and family who would have been your paying customer on the day and in the future. Also, please don’t comment on policy about other restaurants & premises as when I walked into the craft beer bar next door ...the owner who saw i was holding a very agitated infant offered me to come in ...where I and my family ordered drinks and will be going back for repeat custom. All it takes is a bit of humanity which your staff clearly lacks.. “Will never order from this restaurant although we were looking to add this to our Friday night takeaways..the guy at the reception has no sense of empathy and is utter rude. I walked in with my crying infant to ask if I could order some drinks and feed my baby just to calm him down as walking home would have taken me another 20 minutes...The guy at the reception looked down on me and said I couldn’t feed my baby there as it was a “restaurant” although he could clearly see I was holding a very agitated crying infant ...just shows the kind of heartless rude people who run the restaurant....”

Decided to order, after living locally for several years (Friday night take-out/delivery). Thoroughly enjoyed, and will not order from anywhere else if I ‘fancy’ Chinese food.

What a wonderful time at peking gardens. Yet again . been coming here for some time now and have to say we have never had a bad meal or service, in fact it has always been fantastic the staff are brilliant/friendly and welcoming.. especially SAM … and can’t fault the food. We booked a family table for birthday party and they were always coming and checking if we needed anything and wiping down tables after each course. One of the best restaurants around…Thank you Peking gardens see you soon .. mark and Karen …

We ordered Chinese greens… more like Chinese. cabbage The noodles came and were luke warm so asked to get some fresh hot noodles. They warmed it in the microwave. Appalling food snd quite shocked at the table service. They didn’t clean after our main meal and just offered us dessert. Never to be visited again for sure.

my family and I have used this restaurant many time and have always been satisfied, it was my mum favourite place for Chinese, we had a big family do there after she passed away , Sunday was the first time we been back after the lock down , we were very disappointed and the final bill was extremely high, I'm sure we won't be using it again

Went here on a family meal and with the exception of a large group that had a i want to be noticed woman that had the most annoying voice and loud but they left after about 10 minutes. The food was absolutely faultless and fairly reasonable prices, definitely recommend this restaurant and will go back

The title of this review sums up how good this restaurant is. We have been lucky enough to order takeaways and sit in for many many years and the food is just amazing. The quality of food is sublime, the service is just as good...

First time dining at this pleasant restaurant. Food was delicious and hot, staff were very pleasant. Was a relaxed atmosphere where you wasn't rushed out the door like some places. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we got. Couldn't eat it all and was asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home but we didn't want to but was nice to have been asked. Will definitely be visiting again and using as out take away from now on. Only thing I could find which wasn't helpful for me is there is no disabled toilet so had to use the ladies which had no grab rails and the toilet is very low but luckily I can get round that.

Friendly service and good quality food

Food is really really good. However, my family and I were treated differently from other customers because of our skin colour. Staff was very passive aggressive towards us, and continually monitored us to make sure that we were going to pay.

We always get takeaways from Peking Garden in Dartford, so this was my first visit to the restaurant to eat in. Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the food, but the service could have been a little bit quicker.

First class meal as usual, service great as always. Social distancing observed, safest restaurant I have been in since lockdown. Temperature taken, hand gel given & space between people & tables. I can’t find a better Chinese restaurant, best satay sauce I have ever had.

Very nice Chinese. Good range of dishes, friendly staff and lots of room. Quiet evening but they put up with us chatting for ages after everyone else had left!

Had a take away from here. Prawn crackers were stale. The squid was completely over fried. Ribs fatty. Rice undercooked. Poor Satay sauce. The other items were mediocre. Overpriced. Would never use again for a take away. All eaters felt ill after.
