Best Indian takeaway we have had in Ivybridge. We had a variety of dishes and all were excellent and clearly there was attention to detail when selecting the ingredients. Portion size was generous and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely make this our ‘go to’ Indian takeaway now.

I wanted to try a bengal food for long time and I was looking to the menu, it was really appealing. I had a set for 2 people. The portions were big for a good price. It was very tasty and food was aromatic and well spiced . I enjoyed with whole my family so it is not only for two people 😅. Highly recommend, two gentlemen gave me a nice service. I will definitely buy again and try more lamb because it was the best.

This is the best Indian takeaway me and my husband have ever had. Food is cooked in front of you it’s fresh. Parathas are lovely and crispy on top. Would highly recommend. Also service with a smile 👍🏻😊

Wow wow wow, what can I say, we ordered from taste of bengal tonight and the food was absolutely sensational, the chicken tikka masala is one of the best we have ever had, the food was piping hot, mushroom rice was delicious, service was spot on, both guys are so polite, everything is so fresh, would highly highly recommend.

I just had a lamb korma and was very dissapointed I haven't eaten it can't be bothered to go bk to the shop really doesn't look nice atall

Was really looking forward to this after reading the positive reviews, but what a disappointment compared to the other places in town. The poppadoms were stale, the nan and rice both dry and the curry tasted rather like a tomato stir fry. Also, you can only pay by cash.

Absolutely Outstanding! Simply the best. Clean, friendly, and well organised. Nowhere else in town can match them. Have used many times and always great. 5 stars all round.

Good flavour curry but needs more care. Curry was split and garlic rice had huge chunks of uncooked garlic.

Food fit for a king, from the first mouthful to the last - absolutely stunning! A very enticing menu, which I hope to try more of, great service and one of the very best Ivybridge has to offer without any doubt.

We have frequently used this place and have never had a bad experience, the people are always friendly and welcoming to us and the food has always been so good. I love that you can see into the kitchen as it always looks so clean and tidy!

Enjoyed a wonderful takeaway from here yesterday. The best takeaway in Ivybridge by far! Fresh ingredients and flavoursome. Lovely friendly service too! Won't be going anywhere else for Indian food.

Wayyy to much garlic but overall nice food. It's ok noting more than that. The poppadoms and the naan is good tho enjoyed that.

This is my first takeaway from here, outstanding. All the ingredients are fresh, it's all cooked in front of you, not hidden away. Possibly the best Madras I've ever had, nest step will be the Vindaloo, highly recommended, will be paying more visits now we are living near Ivybridge.

We ordered takeaway upon reading the reviews. Have to say was extremely glad we did. The dishes were cooked in front of us as they have an open kitchen and could see that they took great care in preparing them. The dishes were flavoursome and fresh and the meat and chicken that we ordered was succulent and tender. Sometimes Indian food can be quite greasy but have to say our dishes were just right and with the right amount of heat. Would definitely order from this place again if we visit this part of the county in the future.

Our first meal from these guys as were recommended to them by a friend. Well, I have to say the food was first class. I had the chicken rogon josh...it was the best I have tasted; the tomatoes were so fresh. Everything about the meal was lovely and we will definitely be making this our takeaway of choice. Having recently moved to Ivybridge we hoped to find an Indian that was worthy of 5 stars and Taste of Bengal definitely meets this expectation. It's great that you can see the food being cooked as a lot of people worry about hygiene, but no need; the place was spotless and the service was brilliant. Please be aware that they only take cash, no cards are accepted but there is a cash point literally around the corner. Highly recommended and looking forward to trying more dishes!

Always satisfied! As a veggie I highly recommend the vegetable options. You will not miss the meat in the vegetable byriani 😆

We have failed to find a good Indian restaurant in our area. Twice we have tried this takeaway and on both occasions were impressed. Efficient ordering, friendly service and meal at a fair price. The food was to a very good standard. Not greasy, fresh, hot and delicious. We will certainly keep going despite a 4 mile drive.

Perhaps it was an off night, Sunday, but the dishes were quite lacklustre and needing more flavour..

Fine food ethnic Indian with always polite service telephone orders and also drop in. Fast service and always hot (forgive the pun) .

For some reason my girlfriend and I just had that 'curry' feeling yesterday and we found a delight in this unassuming take-away. The two guys that chef it have got real heart and produce some stunning dishes. Normally I would go for the King Prawn Jalferzi however the Prawn Balti drew me in this time and I was exceptionally delighted. Ordered two plain papadoms got 4 (ooops probably should have mentioned this) If your in this area I cant think of a better Curry for a lot of miles around. No seating available at the venue but if you want to buy us a curry we have table and chairs at our house close by :)

Came for a takeaway after work, ordered a chicken roganjosh with boiled rice. I got home to open the curry up which was Luke warm rice was clearly pre cooked,no taste at all. Will not use again

Always have fantastic service and the food is lovely. Peshwari naan bread is my favourite.

Love this place for takeaway, superbly cooked food and so delicious. You are greeted by someone who smiles and makes you feel comfortable.

Had set menu for 2 it was lovely nice flavour no heat which was nice. Would like to try their korai next time :)

The flavour was pretty good and the food was piping hot. Only thing is that the curry we had was a bit watery and the naan bread was a bit dry. Was a bit expensive for the quality of food. But would prefer going to Meghna down the street in the future.

This is a great takeaway, the food is brilliant. Service is great, apart from no delivery. Guy on telephone is very direct, but orders have always been correct and on time.

Super food prepared by polite and helpful staff, if it's not on the menu they will cook it for you. Best takeaway in Ivybridge so why not try it yourselves.

I bought a chicken tikka masala with rice from here 15 days ago and within 48 hours of eating this food I was dreadfully sick( I had not eaten for 2 days prior to eating here! ) I have already been admitted to hospital once within the past 7 days and still today my intestines and stomach are in terrible pain not to mention constant nausea 24/7 I will never eat from here again in my life I have never felt pain like this!

Never eat here I ordered a curry and rice and that's all I had eaten that day I saw my meal a few hours later and was extremely poorly for 48hours after, I thought the food smelt funny before I ate it I'm just glad my children never had anything.

By far the best Indian I've had! Lovely staff. Got given a bottle as a Christmas present. Gorgeous food,definitely worth the price which is great for the quality! Would definitely recommend!

Stopped here on my way home from work on Christmas Eve, I was the only customer and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.The food I ordered was cooked fresh and was well presented and was one of the best curries I've had in ages.

Well, after a car and its driver tried to turn it into one of the first drive-thru Indian takeaways they seem to be firmly back on their feet cooking very tasty and yummy food.We couldn't fault the food - would highly recommend.

This is the best Asian Take Away in Ivybridge in my estimation and I have tried them all.They provide a wide range of Bengali/Indian food and deliver.We have never had a bad meal from this establishment.

We had a takeaway last night from here - excellent naan, delicious mains and sides, and exceptional customer service - couldn't recommend them more highly.

I've eaten at all three of the Indians in ivybridge in the last few months and I have to say this is the best one both in terms of food and service. Extremely helpful and friendly people, they even gave us a complementary dish. Very tasty

There are 3 Indian takeaways in Ivybridge and I've tried them all in the last 18 years since we have lived there. This one has been there for 16 of them. The guys who run it are always polite and have always made an effort to acknowledge and recognise me. It's always nice to feel like they remember you.The food is always of a good standard and whilst it's never as quick as some takeaways, it's still quick enough and always cooked fresh and hot. I often arrive a few minutes before they advise me to pick up and then you can often see their regular chef finishing the preparation of your meal. I consider myself a bit of an Indian cuisine connoisseur and this is definitely the best of the Indian outlets in Ivybridge. There could be a couple more things on the menu (Chicken Pakora or Nargis kebab anyone?) but overall there's a good choice, although it's not the cheapest either. Personally I'd rather pay slightly more and know I'm going to get good quality food.I've never been disappointed here and I'd recommend anyone at least give it a try if you like Indian food.

The service was just absolutely fantastic, I come here often, you get to see the food made in front of you so you can see exactly how its made and the food is just a delight, several times I've asked for more spices in my chicken tikka or a mix of spices and the chef was happy to do this, he made me the best chicken tikka I have ever had, each visit I get it changed up a bit and Its just fantastic.I have been so often now I get sort of meal deals and save a few £ the service cannot be beaten, period!

Been here a few times since we relocated from the northwest. The food is excellent and we have not had a bad meal. The price is significantly higher than up north and for two adults and 2 kids you are looking at around £40-£50 with appetizers and mains (kids sharing)Staff are very friendly and waiting time is minimal

First time I have used Taste of Bengal.We ordered the house special tikka masala and when tried it it was far to sweet for us. A quick phone call and and explanation from the chef had us back home with a fantastic Jalfrezii which was great!!We did not read the description on the menu for the Tikka but to their credit it was described as sweet.Thumbs up for the service and price.

This is by far the best takeaway curry house in the area. The staff are all very friendly and the food is always really good at affordable prices.I have enjoyed Nandons but only when eating in.The Benghal look after their customers.

It seems to me that all of the Ivybridge curry houses are a bit hit and miss - see my previous reviews of the Meghna and Nandon. Having experienced disappointing food at both of these establishments I recently tried Ivybridge's only other curry house - The Taste of Bengal. This takeaway is slightly cheaper than the others and you can watch food being prepared in the open kitchen.Anyway, we opted for onion bhajis, Chicken Dansak, Saag Gosht and Lamb Karahi (with rice and peshwari naan). The first thing we noticed were that the raita and onion bhajis were a little luminous, although on tasting they were both good. The mains though appeared more natural in colour. We noted that there was a generous amount of meat in all of the dishes, certainly more than in the rival restaurants. The chicken was tender and the dansak sauce excellent. The saag gosht was fine and so was the Karahi, but we all felt the dansak was the star dish. Rice and naan were OK too. It was no means a spectacular meal, but better than previous visits to Nandon and The Meghna, and being cheaper than these, I think we will return.
