Had a superb meal this evening. One of the tastiest Indian meals I have ever eaten and beautifully presented too . Service efficient and staff friendly and welcoming . Highly recommend.

Taste of Bengal was always our favourite Indian in Devizes, but the new restaurant, The Raintree, is even better..Admittedly the interior will not win any awards - it's very clean and tidy but a bit soulless (although at least they've got rid of the big screen).However, the new menu is great, and the several dishes we had from it suggests that the quality we enjoyed at Taste of Bengal has stepped up a gear, as has the presentation of the dishes. Service remains as good as ever.We were disappointed to see Taste of Bengal go, but delighted that its reincarnation has raised the bar even further.

Now The Raintree - most Original Indian I have been to in years - fabulous! Amazing smoked dish with a dome trapping smoke - nice touch ... really good dishes...

The Tasteless of Bengal would be far more appropriate. Chicken tikka starters were undercooked and tasteless. The lamb was tougher than an old boot. The Keema nan was half the size of all others I have ever had. The only good things about this delivery were that we got an NHS discount due to my wife being a nurse and also it arrived on time. I won't be ordering again and am happy to pay more for decent food. We have plenty of choice here after all.

Absolutely awful. We have ordered many times before and it has always been lovely. The food was luke warm and arrived 10 mins before schedule. The vegetable curry was watery like a soup. The hockey tikka was extremely dry and smelt off we did not eat it. The lamb Bhubaneswar curry was okay but the lamb was tough like it was almost mutton. The best part was the poppadoms and salad. Will not be returning don’t waste your money the standard has dropped badly.

The food was an hour late, the food was cold and my plain omelette (for a vegetarian) had chicken hidden in it. When we tried to phone up to complain and tell them the issue, there was no answer. Terrible service and awful that this mistake was made.

We ordered a take away for delivery, which arrived in the time stated. Unfortunately the main courses were extremely bland even though we chose very different dishes. Both were chosen from the medium section, NOT a hint of heat or spice/flavour from either dish. Both dishes tasted exactly the same! The only good point was the rice, a lovely hint of cardamom. So very disappointed, as The Taste of Bengal used to be extremely good. I'm afraid to say that we will not be ordering again as this is the third time we have been let down.

This is the best Indian in town. Been coming here for years. Staff are super friendly , service is excellent and the food is so tasty.Last week,mid-week we went for take away but decided to sit in instead. Always greeted with a smile. Service was quick and efficient. Very attentive during meal, ensuring all is good. Prices are very reasonable too so wont break the bank .Would definately recommend The Taste of Bengal.

Ordered a takeaway, brilliant food, very friendly driver, and although my can of coke was forgotten and I was happy with a credit note, he drove back and dropped it off to me. Very happy customer, thank you

Spent an early evening meal here with my French colleagues. Received by really friendly staff who make you feel welcome from walking through the door. They offer help to decide based on your taste. Really fresh tasting ingredients and good value for money. I will be back again for sure.

We were very disappointed with this restaurant this time. We ordered drinks while we checked the menu the only beer they had was Cobra the lady's were ok they had wine .The next waitress came up to take our orders she was very blunt with her manner. The service was very slow , I had lamb Korma which the lamb was very tough as not being cooked for enough time. The rest of the meals were average the older waitress was not interested you could tell the manager was not their?

Dreadful service. They seemed to be arguing. Slow and they only had Cobra beer and they are next to Wadworths brewery nearly!! Did not seem at all aware Food OK and not expensive.

After all the pub food during our vacation we were in for a change and were pleasantly surprised by the nice dishes!! Thank you! Very tasty.

The chicken in the curries seemed unbelievably watery. They seemed to have changed suppliers. Asked for our left overs to be put in a take out container but the fella who was clearing our table seemed to put unhappy about this. Minutes later a waitress appears with a empty take out container and a bag. Seemed we were doing it our self! Not a massive issue but they ve always done it for us before and without any raising of eyebrows! All in all this is a great Indian and we ll go back but I think I'm gonna look for an alternative as well.

Looking for a curry after the Devizes Carnival, we popped in here and were pleasantly surprised. Besides being clean and inviting, the staff are very friendly without being invasive. We were looked after very well and the food was absolutely delicious- compliments to the Chef !

I had the Chicken Sagwalla and it was fantastic. Although I don't live in Devizes I will definately be going back as it's well worth travelling for.

We were in search of a traditional English curry house near to the canal, and this restuarant was perfect.

I tried the Taste Of Bengal for the first time tonight and I'm well impressed. I always test an Indian restaurant/take away the first time I use them by ordering what is easy for me to judge and compare with others. I was more than pleased with the standard of their food. VERY tasty and the lamb couldn't have been more tender. I will definitely be going back there. My next test will be to see if they are consistently good, as many aren't. If they are??? I'll be one happy bunny :)

We ordered a takeaway from here on Saturday night and it was not up to our usual standard. Normally the meat is very tender and the curry is lovely. However, this time, the curry was very salty, there was very little meat and the curry was very thin and watery. This was really disappointing considering we ordered from this place often as the food is usually amazing.

Whenever I return to visit family in Devizes, I try to fit in a curry with friends, and this is always the spot we choose. Excellent food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.

Arrived at the restaurant about 7pm, not many people there at that time. The restaurant was very clean and well presented. The staff friendly and attentive. Our order came fairly quickly. The portions were huge! We ordered a meat dish each and a rice and naan to share, there was enough food for at least 4 people. The dishes taste absolutely delicious, they were full of meat and lots ot flavour. We thought the prices were very reasonable. We would definatley go there again and have already recommended it to family and friends.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Service very good, food first class. Will certainly eat here again.

We went out for a family meal and apart from my husband who ordered a madras we all chose mild dishes. We ordered a Korma, pasanda, butter chicken and a chicken tikka. They used the same sauce for all these curry’s which was the korma sauce. The sprinkled almonds on the pasanda, melted butted on the butter chicken and food colouring in the tikka. They all tasted exactly the same. After eating curry’s all over the country I know the difference between these dishes. If they are only going to serve you a korma then they should take the other mild dishes off the menu.

Saturday night visit - small interior but welcoming. Could almost be a proper old school Indian restaurant if it didn’t have the bare wooden tables and big TV screens.

Had a lovely meal here. Overall an enjoyable experience. We occupied 2 tables of 12, which I thought was a bit cramped. The waiters were very attentive and the food was good. Will definitely return, although not with a large party.

We arrived back in Devizes from Melksham Bowls Club late due to the bus ride terminating out of town due to the carnival. After a long walk we finally made it to the Taste of Bengal and what a welcome sight it was....and not just the large glasses of Kingfisher..!

Stopped in Devizes for lunch, we had heard that this place was very good.

Ate here with family whilst passing through and was very pleasantly surprised. Place itself is a bit café like for our taste but the food and service was truly fantastic. We happened to go on banquet night and were not able to eat the amount of food they gave us. Price was excellent too, as was quality of food and service. Having eaten at many Indian/Asian restaurants across the country, and Europe too, I have to say it would be difficult to better this for food and value for money. If you ever go to Devizes....eat here.

The staff are very pleasant and attentive. It's a pretty nice ambiance, clean and well set up. The food was mixed. I had a mixed tikka starter. It is presented on a side plate and as result looked a little in inviting as the food was crammed on you couldn't really see what was what.. Both the lamb and chicken tikka where very good. The minced kebab was tasty but cold.... and the baji was again cold, very stodgy, wet and not really pleasant... the main was very good (chicken dopiaza) as was the rice and nan. I ordered a large glass of house white wine which was pleasant and actually a fair size... all in all pretty good.... starters let it down and therefore reflected in my score... would I go back again.... yes I probably would....

Estado aquí unas cuantas veces con los chicos del trabajo y nunca tuvimos una mala comida. Los chicos aquí son muy buenos e incluso dirigido a tratar con un grupo de 30+ cuando todo el departamento hizo una noche.

Visite este lugar con mi pareja la semana pasada, mientras visitaba la región, este lugar no gran comida de calidad! Combinación de sabor y especias y toque era genial de sabores. Orden de pollo y mi orden socio shajni nawabi pollo, tanto era realmente genial y imaginar. Recomendaría este lugar a cada uno.

El sabor de un excelente restaurante indio de Bengala. Tuvimos una noche fabulosa con buena comida de buen tamaño porciones todos entregado con un servicio amable y atento. Last minute booking for a 30th birthday dinner. Fab service in a bright, clean restaurant and food to die for. So pleased the Italian restaurant (Franco's) was so awful that we left. You need to eat here!!!

I have been to this restaurant many times and always thought it was reasonably priced with good quality food. Times have I think changed. I went there on tues 23 May. The first thing i noticed was that there Banquet price has risen by £2 or 18%. Service was slow and food quality not as it had been previously. The waiting staff have also changed and they are employing a number of people who are obviously still at school and have no concept of customer service. One of them was a girl who kept giggling - totally unprofessional. I will certainly not return and think that some drastic steps need to be taken to bring this restaurant back to the standard it was previously.

the place is quite small, on a main road, doesn't look anything special. Laid back indian music videos on a TV which is good. And the food - ooh, that bhuna was really smooth, it really was excellent!! I will definitely go back to this restaurant. oh yes!

Stayed in Devises with friends, and decided in a takeaway. This arrived within an hour, as promised, and was as hot as if we had eaten at the restaurant. The food was absolutely gorgeous, very well presented, and well worth the price. Lovely meal, would definitely recommend. As it was a takeaway I have no idea what the actual restaurant is like, but the food is fantastic.

This is the second time I have eaten here on a takeaway basis here and the first time was lovely. This time we ordered Tandoori chicken Tikka Massala which tasted lovely until we started getting shards of bone in the sauce. You don't expect bone shards in your sauce and it was very unpleasant to say the least. I also got a 1inch long bone in my chicken. I understand its tandoori and cooked on the bone but surely there needs to be more care when chopping the chicken that is going into the sauce. The taste was fine but the whole experience was spoiled myself and my daughter shared the dish and both had the same experience. I know in India and Sri Lanka its common to just chop the whole bird up and put the meat on the bone in the sauce but there was no warning that I could see on the menu. I emailed the take away to let them know what had happened but they didn't bother to reply. I just think if you are older or have small children unexpected small pieces of bone in your food could potentially present a problem. Sad to post this, but I think it is important I am not trying to harm business everything I do is fair and honest.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local who was on the same course as us. We were also told to book as they were always bust on a Tuesday night as it was banquet night, so glad we did. The 3 of us order the banquet which included a starter, main, side dish and either rice or naan. We all went for the rice option. The starters were well presented and very tasty. The mains and sides came out to be placed on warm plates. The food was very tasty and would recommend this restaurant to all my colleagues and family if they are in the area.

A pretty decent restaurant and our second favorite Indian Cuisine in Devizes. Food is tasty and well spiced. My only issue is the darn TV sets! Everywhere you look you tend to see Bollywood dancers jumping about singing words you don't understand! Sure it all adds to the atmosphere but not for me.

Ordered set meal for one, tandoori chicken was, unfortunately over cooked but lamb was delicious. However there was far to much for me personally.

My family visited this restaurant recently as a one-off.It won't be just a one-off... it's our favourite Curry house in Devises at the moment.It's a small place that has a very chilled out and relaxed atmosphere. I really like that. Watch your head on the way in though (low door).Service is great here, they listened to our requests and changed our dinners accordingly.Prices are reasonable, staff are friendly without being obsequious and the seats are comfortable. We had a booth to sit in, which the children enjoyed.The curries are the reason I'm writing this. Tikka masala has a really terrific flavour, but no spicy heat (I asked him to make it up to a madras strength, which he did).My parents rated the chicken madras and vindaloo. For my mother to say that the vindaloo was good - it must be decent and quite hot!Madras was tasty - it had different layers of flavours.On my first visit, I mixed the amazing chicken tikka masala with the chicken madras - wow. Try it!Naan bread - soft and fluffy inside, crisp and chewy on the outside. As it should be.It should be said that they catered well for one of our party, who only wanted scampi and chips. We'll come back again....

We ate in a group of 7, on 18th Oct. We were thorough disappointed with meal and overall service.The first thing was that there were two items unavailable from the starter menus, no reason given. The mains were ordered and all of the dishes came out at different times, and they even forgot one dish which had to be cooked and brought our some 10 minutes later with the rice etc now cold.One of the group ordered a chicken murkani, and i've never seen such a disgusting dish, it was supposed to be BBQ, in special sauce with cheese. The dish came out and it was a korma with plain chicken pieces and a think layer of grated cheese over the top, Definitely one to avoid if wanting an indian in Devizes.

When we arrived we were taken to our table and quickly our drinks order was taken along with our poppadoms which were as good as always. As free 10 minutes or so our food order was taken and when the food came out it looked lovely and was well presented the food had great flavors and there was so much food we had to take some home in a doody bag. Lol. Overall a great experience and will be returning very soon.

Very friendly service when I called from a young man. Said the wait would be 40 minutes but it was about 30. The driver was really friendly and we sat down to eat straightaway and all of the food was piping hot and very tasty ! The different flavours were absolutely amazing !

The service was very good. And the food was even better.I had the king prawn pakora to start which were very tasty, the prawns were huge and cook well.I have been for many Indian meals out before, but I had never tried a Lamb Bhuna before I usually have hot curry's. The lamb bhuna was full of flavour and the lamb melted in my mouth.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We stopped here by chance (having checked the review rating) while on a boating holiday on the very near Kennet and Avon canal. We had a wide range of food, from the very extensive menu, from tamarind and spicy through to tikka masala. 5 of us and 5 distinctly different selections plus side orders.All were of very high quality and skilfully presented: way above the usual for indian restaurants.We have already recommended to the boatyard for future holiday makers and have no hesitation in recommending here.

I stopped off for a takeaway on the way back from a beer festival. Takeaway service was slow as the restaurant was busy, but this turned out to be THE best Indian I've ever had. Full of flavour, tender meat, great spicy taste. So glad I waited.

Ordered a takeaway to our rented cottage after reading online reviews. Overall food quality was great. However, there were some dishes on their takeaway menu that they do not apparently deliver which was disappointing. Strangest part was only getting 1 free poppadum with an large order for 4 people.

Very nice restaurant great service great food bought to you in a very fashionable way. Amazing atmosphere, only downside was the food took a while to come but that's a working progress would definitely recommend and next time I'm in Swindon I will definitely go again. Thank you

Back in Devizes again thus another visit to this very good restaurant high on our agenda.Pleased that high standards of meals, variety and content have been maintained.Service is excellent with seemingly more staff available to ensure the smooth running of this very busy restaurant.The freshly painted exterior has added to the lasting appeal of the restaurant.

Had an early dinner here tonight. Omar & staff were, as always, welcoming and attentive. Food was delicious - I expect nothing less from this place. Definitely the best Indian in Devizes and surrounding villages. We'll be back.

Always get a takeaway from here as its the most authentic in Devizes (we are also Bengali!!) The food portions are good and the food is hot and fresh.The owner Omar and his team are really welcoming whether you eat in or out!Highly recommended.

Second time I have visited and it was very good. They were extremely busy with a few big parties but the service was still great. The food took a little longer to arrive but that's understandable seeing there was a lot of people there. Food was even better than last time and the staff would always check on us making sure we were okay for drinks.

Visited the restaurant with two friends, our drink order was taken and delivered to us promptly. When our food arrived we were missing our side orders, which we informed the staff about, they took a few minutes to arrive but once they did they were very tasty. The staff were apologetic about this, so I didn't feel put out by it at all. Overall If I am being picky, it isn't as good as it used to be but I think I will always enjoy their baltis.Will definitely return to this restaurant.

It was quite night visit , recommended by people we meet in pub . People work in the restaurant was very helpful & i had chef special -sagrana -was very delicious with my rice and my friend also enjoyed his garlic chille masala . I must say Little Indian restaurant with good food . Most appreciate chef and team of taste of bengal will be returning again soon .

We dropped in here for a quick bite after enjoying the marvellous Wadworth's brewery tour. A thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying meal with friendly and efficient staff. We enjoyed a fiery chicken madras, saag gosht, mixed veg with all the usual rice and popadoms. Definitely worth a return visit.

Well... where to start. The food is exquisite which is always very tasty even the vindaloo. There is a good atmosphere in the restaurant and all of the staff are friendly and informative. Will be going again soon because it was that great.

I went with my family tonight and the food itself is good but my child has got a almond alergy and it wasn't clearly indicated in the menu. The manager of the restaurant was sorry and listening to my complaint but a other member of staff decided to jump in and he was so rude and horrible. I've stopped the conversation and will take it further. As again they don't indicate it visible on there menu. Not happy.

Taste of Bengal is probably the best Indian restaurant in Devizes. The food that they serve is freshly cooked by their chefs and it tastes amazing and is well presented as well. There is also a great atmosphere when inside as well and all of the staff are very friendly. Will definitely be going to there again very soon.

Amazing. Service is great. Food is amazing and the staff are really friendly. Food takes about 35 minutes to arrive but is worth the wait as it is amazing and all cooked fresh. Good atmosphere.

I went to this restaurant last week for the 1st time. I normally go to 1 spice but I wanted a change. Compared to 1 spice this place is 10 times better. Firstly the staff are friendly, kind and always up for a laugh with you no matter what. Even whilst they were busy they were still friendly and remained calm. The food took 35 minutes to arrive but it's safe to say the wait was well worth it. The taste of the food was outstanding and the amount of food was great for the price. After the meal the staff cleared the table quickly and gave us time to relax before our pudding which was also amazing. I had the kulfi which is delicious. I highly recommend this place and will defiantly be returning and it's safe to say 1 spice have lost my money and I will not be returning there for a while. Taste of Bengal is the best place in town for an Indian. If you don't go there you will never find out. AMAZING!!!

Having checked out trip advisor for a good indian meal in Devizes on a Monday eve we went to theTaste of Bengal. The waiter was helpful in recommending dishes to make up a mixed Thali style dinner. All food was excellent and the service polite and attentive. Highly recommended.

I visited with my wife for the Tuesday banquet (3 courses for £10.95) having not been to this restaurant for some time.Without exaggeration our curries- a chicken oathia and garlic chicken- were the finest we had eaten for years. Apparently the restaurant has a new chef, and on this evidence he is exceptional. We had switched our allegiance to another Indian restaurant in town but we will now be coming back to the Taste of BengalA great evening with delicious food- we will return soon!

First time here. I Ordered the Shashlick chicken and was very happy with meal. Best, tender chicken I have ever had. The test was the Tarka Dahl and this was the best I've ever eaten. The other dishes were also very good as well. Lovely food and was a very good price for what we had

We had a Tuesday special three course meal, the food was excellent and the portions very generous. The staff were polite and attentive. The restaurant is rather small and noise could be an issue for some people but we found it added to the friendly atmosphere.We shall certainly make a return visit.

Took the family to the restaurant as was recommended by friends and was not disappointed one bit such a friendly place with welcoming people who take pride in what they do would highly recommend the taste of bengal to any one looking for the best curry in the area 10/10 from me

Very very disappointed with my food. It was cold when it was delivered and the chicken tikka masalla had absolutely no flavour at all. The rice was under cooked as well.

Attractive interior, friendly service. All meals cooked to order so not fast food, just excellent flavours and beautifully cooked quality meat. Only problem is the large number of meal choices makes it hard to choose.

The food was ok when we got it,in fact it took an hour from arriving to getting the food and we had no starter, I would buy a takeaway , but would not eat in again.

Had a lovely meal staff were very friendly. Portion sizes were so large had to take some home. Enough for a good sized snack later. Reasonable prices and very pleasant atmosphere.

Myself and my partner ordered a home delivery from taste of bengal, which took 2 hours to be delivered. Once it finally arrived, all of our food was stone cold. The naan breads and popadoms were soggy and my boyfriends tikka masala was watery. The chips too were uncooked and soggy also. Will not be re-ordering any time soon, seeing as we waited such a long time only to be completely disappointed.

Went here with my partner and my elderly parents for dinner on friday 25/9/15 evening at 7pm.Firstly, a fairly small place with good facilities for disabled people (my Mum is in a wheelchair), tell them when you book and they will ensure you get a table with room for the chair.. Extensive menu with some unusual items, and everything we had was of very good quality at reasonable prices. Portions are substantial. Staff very friendly, and helpful with advice about the dishes if you're not familiar with them.Only issue here is the decor. Very minimalist, with wood floors and nothing on the wall or floors to baffle the sound of feet clacking along or the echoing noise from other diners talking - we could hear conversations from several tables away.. Also, a bit odd, but there is a tv set on one wall showing bollywood musicals, which doesn't really work and the bright colours and movement are a real distraction when you're trying to have a chat. Whilst we were there, there was a table of 5 having a leaving do, and they were so loud we had to shout across the table to each other to make ourselves heard above the din. From what we could see, everyone else had the same issue - and as soon as the rowdy mob left, peace descended and all the other customers, and us, were able to resume normal levels of conversation, thank god.Overall, I would go there again, but probably only if I too was half cut and therefore not bothered about the racket!

Went to this restaurant with eight friends,sat down at 7.30pm food was served at nine ,no explanation as to why this was. Food was no where near as good as on previous visits , this was mention as both madras meals were far hotter than normal even the rogan josh was too hot,and cheese naan with no cheese waiters were not interested as to busy

We went there last week, the food was great and nothing was too much trouble for our waiter, we were really treated like royalty! Will recommend to anyone who lives in the area, such a shame we don't!

Yesterday evening was the second time myself and my wife have used this restaurant when visiting friends in Devizes (we are not local) and just like the first time we were very impressed with the food and friendly manner of the staff.Will use again.

Wow, What a find. the food was absolutely superb with a wide and varying menu and the staff are entertaining, amusing, chatty, and really good fun. A meal for 4 with wine comes out at about £25 a head

Absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always yummy, but the service always goes above and beyond expectations.

We eat here two or three times a year. Appears to be a change on management although our fave staff member - a Bangladeshi guy, is still there. Booked in advance - we recommend the 'round table.' I've never been keen on the constant Bollywood screen intrusion but others don't mind it. Service a little slower but still as friendly. I had the lamb rogan josh which was not as tasty as normal and one of our party thought there was an alcohol taste in the passana - don't know. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and felt they were up to scratch. Tried the Indian Soul Tree wine which was perfectly enjoyable. Will prob try another local restaurnant next time to keep a check on the competition but would still go again.

Seems to have changed management / wait / kitchen staff a bit since last visit. At a certain level, I didn't find it as good as previously....but I can be a fierce food critic. That said we all ate well - there wasn't anything left anyway and we'll be going back as the other Indian restaurants in Devizes still didn't catch up yet IMHO.

Great Tuesday night dinner offer at just £ 11 pp. Food was hot, tasty and service was above average. Will definitely go again.
