Used to be amazing. Now they have increased the prices but decreased the takeaway portion size. And something has changed with their recipe and flavour. But lovely staff

It was called taste of Afghanistan before, but Shami kebab is a new management. Food quality, quantity, ingredient and service is not what we used to get from previous management. I may never come again unless the management changes.

Shami Kabob Restaurant is a gem of a place. Absolutely wonderful service from the server and very friendly owner. Everything from the lamb tikka, pulau (rice) to the mint green tea were amazing, so fresh!!

From the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted by Khalil, the owner, who took personal care of our dining experience. The menu presented to us was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to freshness and authenticity. The chefs prepared each dish with great attention to detail, resulting in a truly memorable meal. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the special mixed grill. This delightful combination featured their signature Kebabs, including Lamb chops, Chopan kebab, Chicken Tikka, Chicken wings, Lamb Kubeda, Chicken Kubeda, and fragrant rice. Every bite was a burst of flavour, with the meats being incredibly tender and succulent. While the lamb chops were slightly dry, the overall quality of the mixed grill was exceptional and left us completely satisfied. We also had the pleasure of savouring the Qabuli Uzbaki Lamb Shank Rice, a culinary masterpiece. The lamb shank was incredibly tender, and the rice, cooked with carrots, raisins, and flavorful spices, was a delightful accompaniment. It was a dish that truly showcased the chef's expertise and left us craving for more. The Lamb Charsi Karahi was another standout dish that we absolutely loved. The Spring lamb, cooked with fresh tomatoes, green chillies, herbs, and spices, was a burst of aromatic flavours. We relished every morsel, and the dish paired perfectly with the generously sized Afghani fresh naan, one of the largest we've ever seen. We also had the opportunity to relish the Chana Daal, a flavoursome lentil dish, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing Dogh Afghani drink. To conclude our meal, we indulged in the Afghan Sheryakh, a sensational ice cream that was an absolute delight. It was our first time trying this unique dessert, and we highly recommend it as the perfect way to end your meal at Shami Kebab Restaurant. The warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant, coupled with the attentive service provided by Khalil and his team, made our visit truly special. We were fortunate enough to hear about their plans for the new look of the restaurant, and we are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the amazing transformation. A welcome change to Greenford. Halal Afghan/Pakistan food. Having had another change of management in July 2020 we can say the food is good and are looking forward to other parts of the menu. The kabali palou and chaplie kabab are good. The channa average. The nans are good. They don't give salad or sauces. Beware the service is poor. Ordering on the phone and the wait time can be 1 hour. They will serve people who come later and no excuse can make up for the shambles in the kitchen. New management or not, it's the same routine at this place with every management. They have had a change of decor and management in Nov 2020

If really like to taste authentic afghan cuisine then this is the place Once you taste it then you are fine hooked to this place . The taste of Qbali Pelow is out of this world . I just had order of Qabuli Pallow , Ashak and man that was real taste , well cooked .The Chetney is so tastes well done as it feel it left marinated for weeks as it doesn’t taste of water like Turkish restaurant ones. It has changed the name from taste of Afghanistan to Shami but chefs are the same skilful people .I am giving 6 starts instead of 5 stars.🙏🙏🙏

The food, hospitality everything was on point. Even though there were limited options available for vegetarians to pick from the menu, they totally nailed it. The food was very really good and their Afghani Chutney is the best which is served with Hummus and bread. Thankyou so much for having us and providing us with the best service.

Situated in a busy high road this place serves up genuine Afghan cuisine. Clean simple and uncomplicated. The staff are friendly but it’s clear they are inexperienced generally for a high end experience but this is Greenford and not Pall Mall. The dishes are tasty and that is important. You’re coming here to eat hearty food not to gaze over the city landscape. I wish them all the best.

I went to this place in 2023 can’t remember the year but when I went there I was sitting in a table with my kids then when they served me there food they started twerking while giving me my food which I find really disgusting and disturbed then when my kids ask one of the workers how is your day they called my kid a chichi sag which made me extremely pissed that I slammed on of there heads body slammed on of the worker then the police was involved but I was fine since THEY CALLED MY KID A SAG VERY GOOD OF YOU SHAMI KEBAB WELL DOWN

I had dinner last night at the taste of Afghanistan. Unfortunately the soup was very spicy, the grill mix was mainly chicken and the rice was not tasty at all. Afghan food is very delicious and unfortunately this was nothing like that. Hopefully this review will help them improve the quality of the food.

Food was great, service charge was £5.00 on top of the bill wasn't expecting that. Didn't like that they had put water on the table and if we didn't ask we would of had to pay for it.

Atmosphere is warm, busy and cosy not to mention aromatic. Good Afghan music is played constantly and the staff are incredibly welcoming. The food is arguably the best in the world, with a variety of ethnic cuisines and drinks. It fills you up really quickly, but no matter how full you are, I can guarantee you will continue eating. Out of all the Afghan restaurants, this is the best in quality and price. 100% worth the money and the wait, wouldn’t go to anywhere else in the world besides here. - satisfied customer

By far the best place I have ever been to for Afghan food. Usually, Afghan restaurants are run by people who aren't Afghan and try to pass the food off as authentic and you can really taste the difference. Taste of Afghanistan is authentic. The owner is always so hospitable and goes the extra mile when we turn up with a large party - even on shirt notice. The portion size is perfect so you don't feel overly stuffed and definitely do not feel hungry when you're done. There's also a public car park behind the restaurant which costs less than 90p per hour. Highly recommend going and trying anything on the menu.

I visited the shop yesterday and ordered chicken karahi, expecting a 40-minute wait as they had indicated. However, after the 40min wait, I was informed they didn't have it and so instead we order chicken curry. Unfortunately, the chicken curry was neither fresh nor flavorful. This was quite disappointing, especially since I've had good experiences there before. It seems like there might be some issues with their service or preparation on this particular day. I hope they can improve and maintain their previous standards.

The people were lazy whatever we were ordering they were saying it’s finished waited 40 mins for chicken karahi and in the end said we don’t have it after waiting for 40 mins staff was soo unprofessional very rude laughing at us for no reason I usually come here every weekend wid my family yesterday came with my friends very unsatisfied ordered chicken curry was not fresh didn’t taste good was cold told them to take it away wings was burned too

Food is good, portions are big. Price is not expensive, though not cheap. The place has terrible service though, must have waited 30 minutes after finishing for my plate to be taken and to order ice cream. I was the only person in the restaurant, and caught the eye of the waitress three times though still, nothing. In the end, I got up, paid and then left

I went with family, the food and service were excellent. We had the platter for 4, which could have fed 6 hungry people easily. The food came promptly, kebabs were freshly prepared. The lamb cubes were succulent, juicy and so soft. Everything tasted lovely. I really enjoyed the entire meal. Well done to all the staff. I've been there a few times and I've always left feeling full and happy. A big thumbs up 👍😍.

Nothing afghan about this place. The cuisine is exactly the same as pakistani/Indian and the naan bread is a typical naan bread and not the traditional afghan one. Waste of nearly £44 for 2 people.

Lost week I have order a Mantu It was very disgusting, I had ordered lost mount in march mantu and ashak was very delicious but now this time it was very disgusting. I will not recommend them to eating! I hope the owners fixed the issue.

Food is great, service very friendly, definitely worth a try if you haven't had Afghani food before! Only negative is that it's very chilly in the restaurant, so the food gets cold quickly too.

Extremely small portions and highly priced lamb tikka was ok the rest waste of money 4 people we paid £150 I want the tip the waitress or bread maker asked my waitress if she was a worker in this restaurant or owner she lied saying she is worker we tipped her large only to find out she was owner's daughter... shame how owner take general stuff tips.... I will never be going here ever again ..

Tried so many Afghan restaurants previously in London but honestly this one has exceeded my expectations. Their mantu is the best you will find. Unlike other restaurants, their food is not stale and actually tastes good. Food is top tier. My go to Afghan restaurant!!!!

The staff are nice. However, the worst manto I ever had, inside was empty and the dough was extremely though and we got charged £23 pound. Not coming again what a waste of dinner time ans effort plus £23.

I came from far away,the opening times are late than shown and thier prices were just put up today and not updated on system or menu. I was looking so forward to eating from here. They are ridiculously priced.

To be honest I had a good view about this restaurant but after the last 2 times I had visited their restaurant, their food tasted horrible. Also, the first time I went they gave a good proportion of rice and chicken but today and the last time I visited it has a really small proportion and doesn't even have a taste. The first time I visited they gave fresh spicy rice but today and the last time I visited before today they had no spicy rice and it tasted bland. I had a good view about this restaurant but now I regret buying from it in the first place because if they can't cope with the way the treat their costumers or the way they give their meal or proportions then their business would be unsuccessful. So I really recommend they fix up their proportions and how they give their food to their customers and how they treat before they get a person who is angry reporting them and doing a huge complain.

We have finally found a very good Afghan Restaurant. I would highly recommend their food and we will definitely go back again. I wanted to try their handmade ice cream. But didn’t have any space left after dinner 🥘 ☺️

Let me start by saying that I’m a vegetarian (for many reasons). My mum passed this restaurant on her way home and picked up a biryani, some bread, salad, a dip and a dessert. I wasn’t hungry at all because I’d already eaten but I decided to taste the rice. LET ME TELL YOU HOW GOOD IT WAS… It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The lamb in the biryani was so tender I’m not ever sure if I chewed it. I really dislike gristle and fat (part of the reason I stopped eating meat) but this was perfectly lean. I braced myself for the horrible feeling of jellied fat and rubbery gristle but it never came!! The bread smelled so fresh - even though by the time I got to it, it was almost 2 hours old. In fact, as soon as I got into the house I said it smelled like bread and wasn’t disappointed. It was soft and warm just as you’d want it to be. Bearing in mind that I was absolutely stuffed before I started ‘tasting’ the food, it was by sheer enjoyment that I managed to eat 80% of the entire biryani. The food is well packaged, the quality is worth shouting about and you can tell it’s prepared with real care and attention. I wish I lived close enough to order or pick up but alas I must travel for over an hour to get to the promised land of flavour. But I’ll do it. Trust me I will do it. This restaurant is worth it.

Have visited this place already 3 times, always food is fresh and portions are really huge, I'm attaching pic of 1 portion! It's so huge that can be shared, price of it is £13 or £14. Also, today we have tried fresh hand made ice cream with pistachio... mmm was lovely... 😍

If authentic Afghan food is what your looking for than you have found it. Went to this place two weeks ago and they serve some good food. I went specifically for lamb tikka and qabuli palaw. I heard the new cook makes delicious kebabs and i wasn’t disappointed. The kebabs were juicy and served with sumac the afghan way. The naan breads were fresh from the oven and big just the way its done back in Afg. The chicken tikka were good too. But mostly i enjoyed the lamb tikka and the qabuli palaw. Parking is the back through tesco although its a bit tricky to find. The host fazel was warm and welcoming. Would definitely go back there again.

Take out - I asked for Chicken curry today. It was not in the menu but they said they had it. No salt and no taste. The smell was as if it had gone old. Horrible! Did not expect this from Taste of Afghanistan! We use to love this place. Update: i had an upset stomach the next day.

Ordered on phone with checking online menu - upon collection was apprx £20 m ore than menu price & was told sorry that's old menu plus now under new ownership - no disrespect thats the managements fault for not updating plus also states 20% off on collection - anyway management was kind enough after back & forth from cashier to charge price that was online - thank you for honouring it - and as for the food the pilau special for 2 was bang on in taste & portions & no complaints but the charsi lamb was over cooked & rubbery hard to chew - but will give it another try some other time

I placed my order over the phone, and when I went to collect it at the store, they charged higher than what was written on their website, saying that their prices had changed. On top of this, they did not even have the new menu with their new prices, and the service was slow and poor. I left feeling like I had wasted my money and my time!

I placed an order for charsi chicken karahi, very horrible taste the chicken was uncooked. I do not recommend anyone to eat in thus place. Unless you want an upset stomach.
