Taste Africana in Wigan

I ordered some meat pies for my household today, and they were absolutely delicious. The crust was perfectly soft and not too hard, while the filling was well-seasoned and generously portioned. We enjoyed them so much that we’ll definitely be ordering again.

If I could give this place more than five stars, I absolutely would! I travel an hour just to enjoy their food, and it’s worth every mile. Their Nkwobi, Isiewu and pepper soup are simply the best I’ve ever had—flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. Unfortunate review; The 12.99 pepper soup fit in one bowl and the meat was majority bone. That boney meat wasn't even cooked properly. The suya wasn't seasoned properly at all either. We were so excited...

This has to be the most horrible food i have ever tasted.We ordered 5 plates of jollof rice and turkey and we were given stale and salty food Even after asking to confirm if the food was freshly cooked .We couldn't eat it,we had to throw it away and when we called to complain, the lady could not even apologize .I am really pissed.This is the second time i am receiving such horrible service.

I had to rush to leave a comment, because this is literally the best meal I’ve had in a long while. Every bite was giving all that it should give. Freshness, a 100%. Deliciousness, a 100%. The lamb and goat meat was fleshly and succulent. I have zero regrets and can’t wait to try out other meals. Kudos Taste Africana.

disappointed this time. I absolutely love the food here , but paying the price we do here & out of the 2 dishes purchased out of the 6 pieces of meat between both dishes 2 was bone 3 was just gristle & just one edible meat really disappointed doubtful we'll order again

ALL BONES....NO LAMB.Not very happy at all and smelt odd. Did not eat anything,but half the rice. Which again smelt odd, but tasted ok. Just eat wouldn't refund because i ate the rice ..... Pathetic.

I ordered jollof rice with beef, and lamb suya. My friend ordered afang soup with pounded yam. We’ve both woken up this morning with severely upset stomachs as a result. I’m very disappointed as I have ordered from this place previously!!!!!

Taste Africana is a great place to get authentic and tasty west African food. We went for a weeknight dinner and enjoyed goat pepper soup, jollof and chicken. All dishes were fresh and tasty with generous portion sizes. We will be back!

Let me tell you SOMETHING . This place is a taste of home. The FOOOOOD is authentic! So much so it took me back to the meals my Grandma would make in Nigeria. The portions are very generous and you even have the option to go bigger. One thing i really loved about the soups besides the amazing flavour was that you had the option to pick your choice of proteins, be it meat, chicken or fish. Oh and if spice is your weakness, you still can get the same flavours with much milder heat… To put it simply, this place bangs and i would recommend, be it if you just love great Nigerian food or you just want to try authentic Nigerian food for the first time. Taste Africana is proper naija food. You won’t be disappointed

Shouldn’t say Caribbean when it’s not. Very small portion of goat with more bones than meat. Very disappointed and it cost £40 I was absolutely shocked. Asked for mild lamb it was absolutely red hot powder. Need to sort prices or portions because that was never worth the money.

We asked Taste Africana to do the catering for one of our Sheba Arts events (50 people), and they delivered beyond all expectations! We ordered big trays of coleslaw, plantain, spring rolls, chicken pies and puff puff. The food was amazing as they only use fresh ingredients and make it on the day. We had really good feedback from the event attendees. I highly recommend this place to eat in, or to hire for events catering.

So disappointed. Ogbono was so bland, could not taste any chilli or bitter leaf or stock fish. Not quite the same as in Lagos

I’m a big foodie and I’ve ate a lot of different kinds of foods! But this place hands down beats every single last one of them! I got the chicken curry and rice & The food is insanely good! Full of flavour, not to spicy but no to mild! My son who’s 3 had the drum stick chicken & rice kids meal and in his own words “mum I’m so full but I can’t stop eating it because it’s so yummy” I’ve never seen him sit still for so long he absolutely adored the food and asked if we could have it again tonight!

Myself and my partner, it was our first time ordering a take away from here and with high expectations as we both love hot, spicy and variety of flavours in our food. I can say that the food unfortunately was disappointing, very bland, flavourless and not very warm so much so we had to reheat when arrived home only living a 5minute car journey away. £46 total for 2 regular size meals and a starter, I expected a lot more for the value of money and taste in food.

I LOVE IT! I ordered over the phone and it was here in 10 mins. Yes I repeat 10 MINUTES. The spices are just right and the beef was falling apart. The fried dodo was fried to perfection. I will most definitely Order from here again it was amazing amazing I love it!

In the area for work and while trailing through the endless bad reviews of most of the places in the area I found this little gem and decided to give it a try I wasn't dissapointed I had the asun delight (bbq goat) with jolof, the food was fresh and delicious, missing a little spice but that was my fault for not asking. The staff were great and it was good to have time to talk with the owner, the place has a great atmosphere like being welcomed into someone's house. I would definitely drop in again if in the area and be a bit more adventurous on the other dishes. All the best for the future.

Honest opinion - spent almost £60 on takeaway, the food was quite nice but we ordered large portions and they weren’t large. Nowhere near enough meat on the bones and nowhere near enough sauce/gravy. I was disappointed in the portions for the price, as African restaurants/takeaways usually give generous portions but I wouldn’t return unless the portions were bigger as it’s not worth the money otherwise. The food was nice enough and the service was friendly, but took longer than they said it would.

The food from here is Amazing! I've only been twice but I've found a new favourite cuisine. Thank you. I recommend it just for the flavours, quality and portion sizes!

I have eaten "food" before, but now I have eaten real FOOD. I think this is what angles feed the gods! I just want to stay alive to keep eating this food. Celebrated my husband’s birthday at their restaurant's private room. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. The service was excellent, The ambiance was great, and the food was excellent 👌🏾, Every dish was tasty, unique and perfect. Can’t wait to visit again.

Nicely decorated restaurant, with a good menu and rage of foods, egusi was beautiful and the beef in it was 10/10, and was served in the traditional way with a water bowl for hands. Overall very good restaurant and staff with nice food for everyone
