Dish Bar and Restaurant in Wigan

Great place to stop midway on our trip from Edinburgh to Heathrow. Parked right out in front on the road. Brick oven personal pizza was good sized and properly cooked. 5 stars!

Dropped on this gem purely by chance. Nice varied menu. Forgot to take photos though. 😢 I had the Scottish salmon niçoise and the mango and passion fruit eton mess. Both absolutely divine. Would recommend to anyone to try. Called again on 28 September 2024 for Sunday lunch. Took and posted photos this time. 2 courses £24. 3 courses £30. Excellent value for money. Toilets are upstairs but theres a disabled toilet/baby-change on ground floor.

Restaurant and bar with good service and friendly staff . Serving a Good selection of food and tapas which can get busy so would recommend booking.

Staying locally for a family wedding and the family thinking that the pub attached to the hotel may not suit us, recommended The Dish as there is little else within walking distance. It’s a little gem, friendly staff, imaginative menu, decent wine choice and decent atmosphere. Great local eatery.

It's a nice, not sure it's priced right as it's a little expensive for what you get but the food is good, it's busy so it's doing something right, location let's it's down too, I feel it should be in a high street, or somewhere else. Busy so it's working for them so who am I am to say.

Faultless. Great menu and food quality. Service was excellent, they were so thoughtful with our toddler and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely setting, attentive and friendly staff, great food for the price.

We were invited by family members to join them for a meal at one of their favourite restaurants. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff very helpful and knew all about the obscure allergy one of us had. The food was absolutely delicious. Portions were well worth the money and the prices weren’t bad at all. Would definitely go again and highly recommend this little restaurant.

Lovely place, took my daughter for her birthday, she’s pescatarian and there was a good choice for her. We had the roast beef Sunday lunch which was really well cooked and pink as we like it. My daughter had the herb crusted cod which looked lovely, she cleared her plate. Wine was of good quality, all in all a brilliant place for a special occasion. Portions are very big and I couldn’t finish mine regretfully as it was delicious.

A lovely independent restaurant, that took pride in delivering amazing quality food. I just wish they were on our doorstep.

We had an amazing meal here both opting for the steak deal which was cooked to perfection for us, the pics probably don't do the food justice....the portions were great and could have managed without the starter of bread hummus and oil 😋.

Visited Sunday May 5th. Seven of us visited for Sunday lunch to celebrate our late father's 100th birthday. Greeted by a very polite young man who seated us and took our drink and food orders. We all had starters and different mains which were all served quickly, excellent quality of ingredients and large portions all nice and hot..unfortunately no room for desserts. Everyone throughly enjoyed their food and would definitely return.

Was recommended here by Abby at the Premier Inn opposite and was glad I took her up on her recommendation. The duck was beautiful and atmosphere lovely. A little overpriced but would much rather pay more for good food than less and it be inedible. Lovely place.

Hidden Gem - Dish - Delicious Family Meal Our first visit, freshly cook small dishes to die to for!! These are made with great love and attention, you can just tell. (Chorizo, calamari, feta and beetroot salad.) Could have eaten these again and left the main. Until we ate the main, (skewers) surf n turf and pirpir chicken delicious every bite. The children’s menu is excellent value and our two children absolutely loved their melon starters, gorgeous pizzas and ice cream. The House Merlot Wine was fabulous, (and I’m picky with wine). Hubby enjoyed his Italian beer also. Frobishers for the little ones but a cordial drink was included in the price of the kids 3 courses £12. Highly recommend this lovely little gem of a place. You really wow’s us with the food quality and service. Thank you very much for a lovely memories, we hope to return soon.

Went for an early bite. Great tapas and amazing cocktails

The skewers were very good and popular. The black pudding and pork hash brown with a poached egg and grain mustard sauce was excellent. The lamb navarin was one of the best lamb dishes I have had. Another visit and the restaurant was very busy. Had to wait 30 minutes for a table. It was another hour before the mains arrived. Ordered a valpolicella ripasso but the bottle brought was not a ripasso. The bottle was discounted but still a disappointment. The noise in the restaurant was very loud making conversation at the table difficult. The food was still good.

Visited Dish for the first time in a while having always enjoyed the experience. However this time we both had a Sunday roast and found both to be below par. The Lamb was quite tough and not very flavoursome. The Beef lunch was ok but not to previous standards. Service was good and staff were attentive but we left felling a little disappointed, sorry Dish.

Overall a poor dining experience. The Dish needs to put more effort into the quality of the food that they dish up rather than the amount of covers they provide. The food wasn't up to the standard we expected and the loud, bustling atmosphere was more like a school dinner hall than a fine diner.

Excellent menu. Great service and a lovely relaxed vibe.

Mother’s Day lunch let down by tough roast lamb. Prawn and avocado cocktail delicious starter. Roast lamb ordered by all 3 of us and we all found lamb to be tough and not very lean. Potatoes, veg and jus lovely so such a shame.

Loud, crowded and a rough element

This is a lovely place. The food is exceptional. Between us, my family and I have tried 5 different meals from the menu over a couple of visits, and everything has been delicious. The staff are great, too. We'll definitely be going back.

This place is an amazing hidden gem. I’ve been a few times and I’ve yet to have a bad meal at this restaurant. We went on Valentines and although busy, the standards of the service did not dip whatsoever. We ordered the hanging kebab and pizza with a side order of the salt and pepper fries, all absolutely delicious. Wine menu reasonable and a good variety. We both also got a dessert, a rhubarb and custard trifle and a selection of chocolate desserts - both absolutely delicious and fresh, a real treat. The biggest positive for this restraint is its prices. The food is incredibly reasonable for an independent restaurant and the staff cannot do enough to help Would very much recommend.

Warm welcome, starters were great, mains not so great, my steak was over cooked, chips average at best. But there was a great atmosphere, a good selection of beers and cocktails, worth a try

Has a lovely evening celebrating a birthday. Food fabulous as always, very tasty and hot. Service was good not too intrusive. Topped off with a birthday cheesecake - lovely surprise. Well done Aoife and Dish Will be back

First visit, recommend by family, nice welcome very pleasant staff, amazing and varied menu. Drinks order taken and starters and main courses requested. Eight of us chose five different dishes which were all served promptly. The meals were presented perfectly. I cannot overstate the quality of the food we received, all cooked to perfection, amazing selection of vegetables on all roast meals with the various meats just “heavenly “. YOU MUST GO TO DISH, you won’t be disappointed.

We have always considered this place as a hidden gem and would book it for all our special occasions. However we recently booked a table and for tge first time ever we were not happy at all with both tge quality of tge food or the service. I ordered steak Diane cooked medium but it was well done. Another in our party ordered pepper steak medium but was served well done. After he had cut into his steak he sent it back only to receive the same piece of steak back even dryer than originally cooked with half tge portion of chios. My husband ordered steak well done without any sauce. He received a spread covered in sauce. We waited ages for a waiter to take our drinks order and to be honest what should have been a treat turned into an ordeal.

My favourite restaurant in the area hands down.

The first time we have visited Dish, we were informed by the very pleasant waiting staff, that they had launched a new menu that week. I can honestly say, all of our meals, to which all four of us had something different was exceptional, and we will be most certainly returning.

Absolutely fabulous! We’d almost given up on finding GOOD food in Wigan, where quantity seems to be more important than quality, but Dish is a major exception. Tasty, well cooked, well presented and served with a smile. We’ll be back!

We have coming to the dish for a number of years now, at yet again it delivered great food.Nice atmosphere and staff. We had two good starters, pulled pork flatbread and Piri piri salad both good size and tasty, followed by two roast beef Sunday dinners.One of the best cuts of sirloin I have had in a while, cooked to perfection, pink in the middle, charred edges👌. Slight criticism, would have liked more greens, but overall very good experience.

Overpriced, average food. Was recommended this restaurant, must have caught them on a bad day, as the food while looking delicious just tasted average at best. Will not be going again.

The only thing that I was not completely satisfied with was the tempura broccoli, the batter was too thick and undercooked.

We walked all the way up from Shevington to have a nice couple of beers and some tapas but we end up just having beers as they closed the kitchen at 8pm being on Thursday. We stayed outside but we saw food kept coming out to other inside tables which was very disappointing.

Second time visiting DISH. Food is always great and staff are friendly and attentive. Parking isn’t great but there’s some residential areas you can park in. Pork belly was a favourite and the small dishes were all delicious.

Only nipped for drinks while staying in premier inn across the road. Lovely lady serving. Good beers.

I had a starter and a main, the food quality was excellent! Nice cosy place with friendly staff. The only criticism would be the prices (too expensive). Also, I would have liked more option for dessert.

Been coming to Dish since it opened and always recommend it to friends, never been disappointed so tonights experience was a bit of a let down. The service from the two waitresses was very attentive and friendly, my issues were with the food and the very loud female chef shouting several times for SERVICE when one of the waitresses was attending a table outside and the other must have been on a short comfort break and therefore couldn't here her but all of the diners unfortunately could. Spicy Cauliflower fritters were bland, no hint of spice, Pizza could have done with slightly longer in the oven and more chilli as it was also quite bland, Salt and pepper chips were a soggy mess covered in a sweet chilli sauce rather than salt and pepper, chilli and onions, Ive had better from a chinese takeaway. I hope this experience was a one off and the regular chef Andre is back in the kitchen soon as it's a lovely local restaurant that deserves to be supported

Fifth time here and thoroughly enjoyed it again. They are maintaining high standards and I look forwarding to visiting again soon. The meat skewers were particularly fantastic (!)

Great meeting place for a good lunch with friends.

Bought my mum a voucher which she spent on a Sunday afternoon. They wouldn't let her have the difference in another voucher to come again - made her spend all the voucher in one sitting. Considering it was £100 she had to buy a £25 bottle of wine as the food was £75. Not really good customer service - probably lost some custom through this - I certainly won't be going again.

Beautiful food served by friendly helpful staff, the meals are obviously cooked using good quality ingredients . We've been here a few times and our teenage grandson also loves going there. Can't fault anything about this restaurant and would highly recommend it.

We went for Mothers Day lunch today. Wow! From the amazing service from the girls and the fantastic food I cannot give this place enough praise. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambience was nice. We all throughly enjoyed our meals and nothing was too much trouble for them. We swapped a chair for my mum and got a take out pudding. It’s well worth a visit and believe me you will return as will we. It’s a 10/10 from us.

We came here last Thursday evening with our friends from Spain and one was in a wheelchair you were so accommodating and welcoming plus our meals were superb so fresh and piping hot we will certainly be back very soon thank you so much to you all for making our evening perfect !!

Fabulous dinner thoroughly enjoyed by all! Highly recommended the chicken katsu with dressed salad and the beef skewers. Sticky toffee pudding is by far the best I have had. Relaxed atmosphere with very efficient, friendly service. All compliments to chef Andre!

We always have a Good meal here and the staff always make an effort.

Our first meal here was worth the wait! We are not far from here and have passed it several times and each time said oh we need to try it there one time and we are so glad we did. We decided to try out some little and small plates so we could try different dishes and we were not disappointed at all! The fillet steak skewers are melt in your mouth as are the cod croquettes and the dressing they were sat on were fantastic! The calamari and prawns were amazing and the pork and black pudding hash brown was delicious! You can't fault anything here, the atmosphere and the service was fantastic, it's a lovely place and we will absolutely be back to try more!

Went for a group meal and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The food was excellent, loved it! Would highly recommend if normal service was as good as this.

Food and drink excellent. Service good and timely. Would have been an overall 5 star except for a rather frosty reception and service from 1 of the waitresses. The other waitress was very pleasant and helpful. All in all though a very good experience.

Visited this beautiful bar/restaurant for lunch. Cleanliness is immaculate. Superb menu choice. Delicious food presentation deserves a 5 star rating as does attention to customer service.

Only went in once, weren't really happy, tables people too close, didn't notice any table cleaning. We pretty sure we got Covid in there, both in our seventies, won't be going in again.
