I visit the area regularly and leave time to stop for coffee and pastries. The coffee is excellent and better priced than a chain, pasties are fresh and delicious. I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu. Nice decor and nice staff so all good.

Charged me £4 for 2 cannolis - presented in a cheap paper bag, which split less than a minute after I left, dumping the contents on the floor. Returned immediately with the food and broken bag, and the young lady behind the counter then refused to replace them, claiming that the bag was ‘fine when she’d given it to me’, not even so much as an apology - watched her present another customer with a box for a cake slice, not sure why I wasn’t given the same. Also charged 50p extra for a decaf coffee. Overpriced for such rubbish, rude service - absolutely wont be returning.

My friends and I attended for an early lunch. The décor is very pleasant as has old/traditional pieces dotted around. It also has a lovely fireplace, but clearly not on due to warm weather. Food is simple, but tasty. I think price wise it is very reasonable indeed considering the portions size which is a good size.

Firstly I liked the decor in Tartine Artisanal and theres lots of yummy looking cakes/desserts at the window which draws you in. Service was excellent. I had a lovely Moroccan mint tea which was presented beautifully. I ordered some falafel which again, was well presented and tasted good however, not sure it was the freshest. Prices are reasonable and overall, I enjoyed my lunch break here.

Every few months I've occassionally popped in to Tartine Artisanal to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again. I've just been in for a takeaway coffee this morning and feel like I need to review. The staff have been extremely miserable and slow every single time i've visited. They ignore you on entry, often leaving you stood awkwardly staring at them in front of the counter for ages with no greeting or even any eye contact. A couple waiting behind me this morning walked out as a result. For context, the place wasn't busy at all this morning. They only had 3 customers sat down. I always feel like an inconvenience. In all honesty, everytime I've been in Tartine Artisanal I've felt uncomfortable ... the staff clearly don't want to (or you to) be there! No wonder the place was empty this morning - the atmosphere is horrible!I'm no longer going to bother trying it again.

I used to be a regular here but with new waiters and waitresses who have clearly not been trained in hospitality, I won’t be visiting again. On my penultimate trip, I was not served despite asking for a table and making eye contact. I had my baby whom I was feeding and had to wait for my sister to arrive to take my order as I was upset at the hostile staff. The next day I was charged for cakes I asked for but had not even been correctly packed. This was really careless as I was overloaded with shopping and couldn’t check my takeaway boxes and request missing items were packed as I had paid for them. On my last trip (Saturday 23rd) I stood at the front and paid for a hot drink which I requested as a takeaway with a poorly newborn but watched the waiter and waitress take other orders first. In the end I had to leave without my drink and money as I was far too angry but also tired at the prospect of standing around. It’s such a shame they were not able to hold onto their original staff who were so very kind and warm and friendly. Suffice to say I will not be coming here again and wasting my money.

Not the flashiest of places, with decor a bit on the “tired” side but the food is reasonably priced and tasty. The food is more than decent and its decor is very nice. The issue lies in with the service. I have been numerous times and, whilst the staff are relatively courteous, the service is actually quite poor. They seem surprised when you approach them and ask for anything other than what you have initially ordered. They are slow and they are extremely inattentive. The cafe was not remotely busy, and they had 5 members of staff, yet a coffee which was ordered in addition to go with my food took approximately 15 minutes to come.

Attended over the weekend with a gaggle of family members, for something of a baby shower. Though they were already so busy, the management were so friendly and welcoming - made sure that everything was to our needs, and popped by unobtrusively to make sure we were happy. We had lunch followed by a selection of cakes and hot drinks. Spaghetti bolognese seasoned just right for the kids, beef burger was cooked to perfection (added some harissa paste for an extra kick), cheesy lasagne with a side of roast veg, smoked salmon bagels and chicken panini, all delicious, all devoured. The best desserts and range we've come across in South London. Favourites are their carrot cake, (so moist!), chocolate mousse cake, cremepat strawberry tarts and their mille feuille (lovely caramel flavour). Great lemonade cocktail (passion fruit and strawberry) made to the owners specs. Mint tea was ordered in a large pot which served at least 5 people generously. With a some baklava this was a treat! Also had a wide selection of other teas and coffee. There's so much more I could go on forever. Must visit.

Whilst killing some time I visited the Tartine Artisanal to be met with a warm welcome and excellent coffee. I had just walked out of a nearby coffee shop having waited for 10 minutes and failing to find a member of staff. Guess where I am going for a coffee again in central Tooting! Not only was the whole experience good, but I got the strong vibe that the staff were trying hard to meet their customers expectations, not always the case as I had just found out nearby. With good food and most around me were tucking into full English breakfasts and making me feel jealous, but I was about to go out to lunch..... but next time I will! This place could SO easily be improved, if only management read the reviews on here: 1. Re-train staff in manners and basic waitressing etc. They clearly didn't know how to do their jobs, they hover over you whilst you decide what to order from the encyclopaedia sized menu and aren't very engaging/ borderline rude.2. Re-think the menu. It is far too long, focus on fewer items and do them well instead of doing everything averagely (and why does everything come with chips?!It's a shame as the cakes in the window invite you in but the staff don't. They have potential to be a Tooting Bec brunch/ lunch establishment as there isn't really one but they don't take advantage of that opportunity. The menu is also really cheap for the area but I wouldn't go as I know I can cook better myself (and I am pretty average). There are lots of other places nearby so they need to step up their game I guess, I don't really understand how they are still in business.

Coins placed on the table for me to pick despite the outstretched hand. Maybe I'm looking too much into it but I've had better service in other coffee houses; enthusiastic staff, politeness and engagement. The one positive to take away was that the coffee was great and the interior made it look like a lvely place to read a book and sip on a beverage. Won't be visiting again unfortunately.

My friend and I were looking for a brunch spot close to where I live, but I wish we'd gone a little further afield to Balham. When we walked in, the waitress wasn't particularly welcoming. We asked to see a brunch menu and she sort of hovered over us as we poured our eyes over their food offering. The place was quite shabby / eclectic - I couldn't work out if the decor was great, or downright terrible. There were nice wooden tables though, and the wooden chairs were adorned with names of local streets, which was kind of cute. The menu was quite substantial, so it took a long time to decide. I ended up ordering a croissant with ham and cheese, only to be told 15-20 minutes later that they'd run out of croissants. Helpful. So instead I went for the Eggs Royale and a fresh fruit salad. The food was actually decent - particularly the fruit salad, which I couldn't fault. But when I asked for some ground pepper for my eggs, they said no and just gave me the powdery pepper (which, for the record, is pretty disgusting). I could see in the kitchen that the chef had been using some real pepper, so I just asked to use a little, but they still said no. Not exactly friendly! When we came to pay at the end, we wanted to split the bill. The waitress went off to get her calculator, but instead of splitting the bill, she asked if she could round it up. So essentially, we ended up paying more than we should have. It was only about 5 pence, but it was the principle! It's safe to say we didn't leave a tip...I was debating whether to give this cafe a poor or average rating, but I chose poor because I really think this establishment needs to up its game. It's not a good local, and there are plenty of other wonderful brunch places nearby (M1LK, Brickwood etc.), that it seems a waste to venture into Tartine Artisanal. Will not be going back.

Incredibly disappointed. Bad food and bad service. Had to order drinks twice as the waitress forgot half of the order. The coffee was luke warm. Service was incredibly slow and we asked for the bill and waited 15 minutes to get it. I was given my plate of food and it was taken away from me as soon as it was put down and they took the mushrooms off, I didn't ask for that so that is confusing because I wanted them. The plate came back and there were chips on it instead, how strange. My friends chicken baguette smelled terrible, something was very wrong with the chicken. When she told the manager he had an incredibly arsey attitude. He then proceeded to EAT the chicken at our table to taste it, and refuted that there was anything wrong with it and it was just "marinated". The customer is always right, and that was the most unprofessional thing I have ever encountered at a restaurant, still in shock. Overall completely disappointed and a waste of money.

Having my mother in theater for an eight hour op and then subsequently ICU at St Georges hospital (just a short walk away) Overly emotional I was in need of some space, good food and somewhere to just chill. TA had been recommended by the SG hotel receptionist and she was right it was perfect. Being a bit of a foodie I passed all the other lorry driver cafes until I spotted the old fashioned bicycle, great marker. I was rather envious of those that had got their earlier than me and taken up the silver tables and chairs out front. I headed in and even though alone I felt comfortable, found a table and browsed the great menu choices. Ordering fresh OJ, which I didn't notice until later is made on site by a super clonking machine. I love the little milk jars for the beverages. The eggs royal being 10/10, looking at who ordered subsequently it seems to be a popular choice. I was thankful the staff didn't rush me, I was able to read my book and probably take far longer than I should have but not living in the area I took stock of what lay ahead and left a happier contented individual - thank you for your service and I hope to be back with my mother when she is much better.

I was here for brunch during a weekday and it was a lovely little place just off the main road to have a relaxing breakfast. An added bonus was that the meat served is halal so I had the full breakfast and my friend had the eggs benedict. The eggs on both dishes were cooked to perfection. Nothing worse than ordering your eggs to be soft and they arrive cooked to death. Instead of hash browns my breakfast came with sauted potatoes and grilled mushrooms. Both were seasoned well. Bacon was also cooked well and hadnt been fried to a crisp. The fresh morrocan tea was fantastic and I could have sat and drank that all day. Overall a very well cooked Halal breakfast in a nice little cafe where you can just watch the world go by.

I came here with my sister at lunch time. I expected it to be over run, but there were a few tables available. We were seated by a friendly waitress, who took our order (without needing to write it down!).Drinks came quickly followed shortly by starter. We ordered a set menu of main, dessert and small coffee/tea. Food was so nice and portions were good. Dessert had a nice selection to choose from, such as tarts, cakes, gateaux, pastries. Tea and coffee were bigger than expected. I struggled to finish everything, even though I was starving before I got there. Will be going again with the kids for breakfast.

Now with my current penchant for rating breakfasts wherever I see them, this merits a thumbs-up for lateral thinking in substitutions and subtractions to the classic fare. The full English here means bloomers sans butter replacing fried bread, Turkey ham replacing bacon, potatoes sautéed in turmeric and paprika instead of hash browns and a garishly spiced mushroom concoction in lieu of classic mushrooms & baked beans. While everything is substituted in good time and with the right flavour notes the overall effect is a feeling I consumed a non-breakfast that filled but did not delight. That expanded my tummy but did it with no heft and mass. I would have asked the waiter, but he was disinterested in what I thought for sure. As evident in his droll quip.."How is everything?" dropped with a far away look at a passing cutie. I managed a polite nod while looking at my wife...who was finishing off her eggs benedict with glee and abandon. Well, I thought to myself, I know what I'm having next...

This place is truly amazing, I really feel at home here! There are so many other places opening around them but Tartine is the original trend setter that most cafes seem to have copied! I love their menu there is something for everyone and their smoothies are really good and the potion sizes are really generous!

I love this place, went to this place by chance, meeting with a friend. The display of beautiful cakes in the bakery made me want to try all of them, had a slice of cake and a hot chocolate. Was the best I've had by far in London.Waitress and staff were very friendly and helpful..Highly recommend this place.

This cafe very close to my house and looks very inviting, but having been there on a few occasions I can safely say i will not be going back. Each time i've been there the staff have been extremely rude and made me feel like having to serve me was a massive inconvenience for them. The last time I was there was last Sunday, with my sister who was in London for a visit, and the guy who served us was unbelievably rude from the minute we walked in. He gave my sister hot milk for her tea so she went up and very politely asked to change it for cold milk.. he didn't even answer her or look up, he just grabbed it from her hand and basically threw a jug of cold milk at her. It was absolutely disgraceful and we stayed about 10 minutes and walked out as we couldn't stand to look at his grumpy face any longer. It's a pity as it has the potential to be a really nice place but I would suggest they ditch most, if not all, of the staff and start again!

Have been to this restaurant a few times, I always enjoy the food it's very reasonable and a great variety of choice too but for me the problem is the service, the ladies in particular aren't very welcoming or helpful with the menu, when it's time to order I feel like you have to always grab their attention and the same when asking for the bill, this takes from the experience of eating here as I do like the menu and it's a cute little place.

Oh dear, it didn't bode well that I had to get up and collect my own menu. I ordered a main course and thought fruit tart/ coffee to follow. No one even came to ask whether desert was required. Again, I got up and asked the waitress for my order. Over fifteen minutes later nothing had arrived and it was clear that the order had not been registered as I found when paying. Just as well as waitress cleaning the glass above cakes sprayed detergent directly over the glass and onto the cakes. Staff (plenty) still found time to have a good chat with each other. I explained my disappointment (but still ended up paying full price) Manager suggested I write to their site. Cunning plan. It's not working! Not even a, "we'll give you a small reduction next time." I was made to feel very unwelcome and that ruins the memory of what was essentially satisfactory food.

Went to Tartine with my girlfriend and was initially sceptical as all I was looking for was a fully English breakfast and this was a french style cafe. The staff (french) were very friendly, and I proceeded to order an omelette. I have to say the food was very filling and tasted great. What a lovely looking cafe! Inside and out. I will definitely visit again.

My partner and I had breakfast at tartine this morning. It was very busy and initially I was put off as I thought it was abit cramped. I was however, pleasantly surprised to find that they had seating downstairs. I ordered the eggs benedict with salad and mocha. My husband went for the full breakfast and the croque monsieur with fries with the Moroccon tea. The food was delish and the staff were attentive and friendly, despite the resturant being fairly busy. Needless to say we throughly enjoyed our sat morning breakfast and will be visiting again to try out the other food on the menu. Only downside my mocha was bordering on the cold side. Definately worth a visit :-)

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and decided on Tartine, we had been for brunch a couple of years ago and had enjoyed the service, meal and teas. Thistime we had lunch and we all chose different meals. All came in good time and were very good, reasonable price and relativly half decent staff.

Exposed brickwork, solid wood tables, spacious lounge at the back, upbeat music all contribute to a laid back atmosphere for a casual meal when you just want to chill and get something to eat. I can imagine equally enjoying coming on my own for a coffee. The menu offers a good variety of eggs, salads, wraps and burgers along with some more substantial dishes such as lasagne and Moroccan meatballs. There is a nice selection of hot and drinks including fresh mint tea and fruit smoothies, and the cakes looked lovely. The chicken quesadillas were excellent and generous, though there was too much dressing on the salad for my liking. Service was decent and if there was a Tartine local to me, I'm sure I would be a regular.

After being a regular at Tartine in Balham I was so excited to have one on my door stop. The service was awful, every waiting staff was moody and disinterested and each gave us a different list of dishes that we were unable to order. This was particularly confusing when we were trying to order a smoothie but no one seemed to know which if any they could provide. After craving eggs benedict we were disappointed to find that this isn't on the menu as it is at Balham. The food quality was really poor apart from the chips and after trying to pay on numerous occasions we just kept being given duplicate print outs of our bill which led to us nearly walking out in frustration. We won't be going back.

I popped in here for a coffee and muffin today on a day off work. I thought I'd be a little adventurous. Usually I would head to either Nero or Costa.I wish I'd been less adventurous.Service was very slow and my muffin tasted like it had been sitting there for at least four days! It was super dry and although advertised as a blueberry muffin, I only found one!On the bright side, the coffee wasn't bad but it was an inch and a half below the lip of my mug so didn't last so long.Sorry Costa/Nero. I'm on my way back!

I visited Tartine on the back of a recommendation that its "really good". Having arrived for some smoked salmon I was taken back by the menu not stating what its served on. I thought it would have been some brioche since its supposed to be have a French look and artisanal however it came on wholemeal bread which I usually eat anyway. Also, I wasn't asked if I wanted the egg on top of the salmon (which I prefer as it makes it easier to season). The service was good, however, there is scope to provide some more clarity on the menu and just a little more information. Personally, I prefer Patisserie Valerie on this occasion.

Just came for a cup of tea. I come in occasionally and the service has always been bad. The waiting staff have been gruff, cold and not keen on explaining theMenu properly. Such a shame as it a big place and the cakes look great. Will avoid and go to the smaller but friendlier place a few doors down.

This place could be great, good location and the cakes are tasty and look great. However the food is average, service is appalling... you have to ask for everything a few times and you are hard pushed to get any kind of smile, it's confusing whether they take your order at the table or go to the counter and the toilets are also filthy. What a shame, it has potential but the manager is obviously out of touch or doesn't care.

We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Ordered scrambled eggs on toast and a croque Monsieur. Scrambled egg arrived with no butter for toast. We asked for some and they seem confused. Croque Monsieur was made with Turkey ham. They don't serve bacon, which for me sort of kills it for breakfast. The coffee was also pretty average - ordered a flat white but tasted more like a latte. The back door fire escape was left open all the time with people in and out with bags of rubbish in grubby looking kitchen gear. Not very relaxing when trying to have a chilled Saturday breakfast. Felt more like we were in the way of their cake making business than valued breakfast customers. All in all pretty miserable. Wouldn't go back, can make a better breakfast at home with minimal effort or if you want a treat go to the French cafe in balham which does a great full English with bacon and sausage!

Tartine have got it right on the concept, its lovely as you walk in, ticks all the right boxes for mums with children or people meeting friends,.You are let down by the order taking (menu is presented via scruffy bits of paper on a clipboard) staff who cannot take instructions properly, I asked for a Frappe and specifically asked if the ice would be crushed and the reply was yes. What I recieved was a warm watery coffee with Ice cubes. I tried explaining that I didn't want this but the waiotresses do not seem to understand English well, One of the pastry chef's used ot work in Deelicious Nazish also in Tooting Bec, must say his desserts were outstanding, I don't know what happened at Tartine but the variety they have is not very good, The desserts all have Patisserie cream, the chocolate tart is more of a custard and the texture is almost rubbery ... very weird experience eating it. The prices are extortionate for the quality that is offered. The smoothies are refreshing and the chocolote mousse cake is very good.

The coffees are good. However if you order granola, don't expect to eat anything like granola. I was served what looked like old remnants of a cereal box with a few raisins. Bland bland bland. They may just have been having an off day. I nearly went for the large salad however when I asked if there was a small version of the salad available, the cook almost had a heat attack. Buck up please!

I've just returned from one of the worst breakfasts of the decade, feel quite depressed. We went out to the Balham branch (which isn't listed here). The bacon was reconstituted, ironed and tasteless, the mushrooms were canned and tasteless, the herbs used were dried and...again, tasteless, the bread was satisfactory, the eggs were over cooked, and probably not free range judging from their lack of taste...everything tasted of nothing, it was almost an anti-breakfast. How on earth a place just across the road from some of the best cafes and butchers in London can get a simple thing like breakfast SOOO wrong fascinates me, it's almost as if the chefs have never had breakfast before or something?. Even the coffee was poor. I honestly don't go out of my way to dis places, I prefer to just let bad cafes sink under their own power, but this place stands out for special mention. Congratulations Tartine !

Visited Tartine Artisanal today. Food pretty good, Coffee good. Service is a let down. It's nice to sit in a coffee shop and relax but it is hard to when the staff seem like they are struggling to stay on top of service, constantly looking stressed, lots of rushing around, and one or two of the staff don't exactly smile or give off a welcoming warmth. Whilst sitting in the coffee shop, a female staff member decides to keep the shop door wide open despite it being a cold, miserable and winters day. I understand that she may be warm because she is working but it is very cold for us customers....customers come first don't forget. Overall, service is slow. I have been to better coffee shops and will return to them in future instead of this place.

Very overpriced and wasn’t even good. Man with glasses seemed to be unhappy and stressed, was shouting and doesn’t seem to treat staff right.

Absolutely delicious! We were dubious because of the low score reviews but our expectations were more than exceeded and they must be old. Fabulous food and fabulous service, I’ve lived near Clapham Junction for 3 years and only ventured here after looking for a good French restaurant as it’s my mums favourite cuisine. Oh my god it was delicious, I had the steak bavette and it was so rich and tasty, my sister had the moules frites and devoured it. Mum had the chicken and throughly enjoyed it. All in all a fab experience and it genuinely feels like a restaurant that should be busier. You’ll see from my profile that I never leave reviews, but this was so fab that I felt like I had to! We will be back!

I tried to order some food via deliveroo. The restaurant called me and said that they don’t have some items which should be reflected on the menu online. I asked to cancel the order instead. They told me to cancel it from my side. I tried contacting customer service who said that they cannot reach this place over the phone to confirm cancellation. When I called again and asked to pick up the phone within next couple of minutes to confirm cancellation because deliveroo cannot go ahead without it, the person on the phone was extremely rude to me. At first he said that it his 2nd day of work, with this attitude on your 2nd day he shouldn’t last for much longer.
