Tarboush in Charnwood

We had chicken shawarma & what a disappointment it was!! Tiny little bits of totally dried out chicken inside dry bread. It was extremely hard to swallow without a sauce of any kind. Hardly any flavour either, very bland indeed. First & last time for us I’m afraid.

Excellent food. Great atmosphere and good staff. It's mid price but Excellent quality. You can watch the staff cook over hot coals.

Such a delight to return to Tarboush ( we can still remember the opening) and it’s always a winner! So colourful and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! Well done for keeping the brilliant stand up over the years!

Came here for a meal with a few friends. There was a delay with some of us as the M1 had been closed during the journey, but they were happy to wait for our entire party to arrive. We had meze plates to share for both courses and it was all so delicious. I'd definitely come again!

We popped in for lunch, have been here for lunch before and really enjoyed it! There is a board outside which advertises the prices but it’s not clear that these prices are different if you sit outside the front (for example a shawarma wrap outside is £6 and inside it’s £7.45), we sat inside as it was raining. We were just so disappointed by the experience. I ordered the halloumi sandwich and it was literally halloumi put in a pitta on the grill, no salad, no sauce and just yuck, and I paid £10.95 for the privilege! The service was slow and no one came to check if our food was okay, and then they put a 10% service charge on our bill, for 2 people out for lunch… this isn’t America? I asked for this to be taken off, and I felt the atmosphere change. Unfortunately the experience put us off, and we won’t be returning. The stars are for the food my husband had which he said was good!

Well thought out interior design, that makes you forget your in Loughborough. Healthy and well presented delicious food inspired from around the world. Friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend

Had a fantastic family birthday celebration here, with 50 family members, the food was fantastic and it had a fun and relaxed atmosphere, the belly dancer was great entertainment for the whole family. Jamal and his staff were absolutely brilliant and catered to all our needs including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Well worth it and reasonably priced. We will definitely be booking more occasions there.

Wow. Tarboush is a lovely place, with lovely staff, lovely decor and AMAZING FOOD! The food was just what I expected! All I can say is I’ll definitely be back!

Really pleasant place, good food, great service

We visited this restaurant today... We was with some family members who lived locally and two under 2 years olds.. seemed quiet impressive when we walked in. Shortly after being seated with a five minutes we had 3 waiter approach us to order food we only just sat down. Never the less we continued to order our food as they seemed to be very persistent about ordering. The food came it was pleasant not the best Lebanese I've eaten but pleasant enough. As we eating and talking to each other we notice our drinks disappeared off the table one by one, my brother went to the toilet and his drink was gone he said I didn't even finish it. The female waitress was taking our unfinished drinks off the table. When it come to paying the bill I kindly went over and spoke to two younger members of staff explained my concern they were extremely apologetic and said they will bring the bill over and will address the matter. Few minutes laters a raging manager comes over raising his voice saying this doesn't happen in my restaurant I will check the CCTV, I stressed I had no reason to complain but before you take anything off anyone's table it's common courtesy to ask if your finished with it. He went on to say iv give you 10% discount which doesn't even the cover the costs of the drinks. He was extremely angry and unprofessional then to top it off he drags the waitress over the table and said she said she never took our drinks, so who did? Disappointed in the customer service his attitude ruined our evening.. if that's how you want to speak to customers I suggest you stay in the back and let someone else deal with the matter. I notice how disorganised the place was

First and last visit! We had the Tarboush BBQ & Meze Meal.The starters were OK but the main course platter was a pile of meat and fries. This was over cooked and therefore very dry. Hard to eat at times. The service was OK but the young waiter struggled with English and was too quick to fill your glass. The belly dancer was very good but why there were three large TVs showing chefs cooking I have no idea?!!! There were four of us and the bill came to £200. The service charge added another £20! Message to all restaurants in Loughborough - drop any service charge and leave the tip to the discretion of the customer - your not in a city!!!

The decor and ambience are perfect. The service was so polite and friendly. Every dish was really tasty, particularly the vegetable moussaka. We both left very full and satisfied! The belly dancing was an added bonus. 100% recommend.

The interior perfectly reflects the atmosphere of a North African and Turkish restaurant - it reminded us of places we visited in Granada (Andalusia). A warm welcome and very helpful staff, and of course, most importantly, the food tastes delicious. I must admit that the menu allows you to choose many combinations of dishes and they are prepared perfectly. And once again the service makes you feel at home..

Eaten here a few times staff are always polite and friendly, food is always delicious and any issues are handled very well aswell as any mistakes corrected as quick as they can

Used to be really good but when I arrived with my family my son whos autistic touched a balloon and the waiter said 'can you stop playing with the table number' which had the balloon attached. But he said it quite rudely and there was no one else there.. so we sat on our table and really upset me what he said, when we sat down for a minute we was quite shocked and he was playing with the balloon on our table .. so we said sorry the menu is not for us and he proceeded with can you put the balloon back.. like it was a £3,000 balloon. Not kid friendly. No understanding of special needs either! Very disappointed.

Ordered from Tarboush express, the wraps are extremely greasy. No pickles inside and contain tomatoes and onions instead. Meat was very dry and inedible. Very disappointing

having had the distinct advantage of eating truly authentic Bedouin food in the deserts of Western Sudan and Uzbekistan, I am rather disappointed in the touristic ethos of Tarboush. However, bearing in mind the restrictions of the UK, I'd rather the food as good but slightly expensive and the Turkish Othmaniya image of the Janissari, Albanian headgear as representing the whole Turkoman/Middle Eastern ambiance of the establishment, as slightly misleading.... I'd add "shayun khairun min la shay!"

I had a lovely time dining here and it was made extra special by our fabulous waitress hettie. She went the extra mile with her speedy service and kind mannerisms. Hettie gave us excellent recommendations and the bbq mixed grill was out of this world. Will definitely be going back

A lovely restaurant with attentive staff, delicious food and a great atmosphere. The belly dancing entertainment was a lovely surprise to round off the evening! We ordered the mix bbq grills and a few lahmucuns. All the food was delicious and could not fault it. I’m not a fan of lamb at all and was expecting to give it to the husband to eat but I gave it a try and it was tender and so deliciously seasoned! Definitely recommend to all

First visit to this restaurant last night. Fantastic atmosphere, great food and great staff including the belly dancer! Had the Royal BBQ sharer, plenty of food for two, flavoursome, hot, fresh BBQ food. Will definitely return!

It was a really cute spot, the greek frappe was a bit gritty. Silina served us and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly!

Amazing place in the heart of a very busy town. Has that unique atmosphere to 'transport' you into the summer holiday vibe. The music, the colourful and flavoursome food, and the service are all fabulous! Highly recommended!

We ordered via Uber Eats on a Saturday night. First of all, our order was cancelled due to there being no chicken wings… Then we reordered and placed an order for the Shawarma Platter and the Chicken Shish Platter. Which both stated they came with bread, chips, salad, garlic sauce and coleslaw. When we received the order, I stated to the delivery driver “this seems awfully light”. Lo and behold when we opened the foil containers the portion sizes were tiny, there was no coleslaw, the bread was rock hard, the meat was dry and stale. We were that unhappy with the quality of the food for the price we paid (we paid £13 for each platter), that we drove to the restaurant with the food we had just had delivered and spoke to the manager. He said that the bread was meant to be dry and crispy, that the meat was fresh (when it certainly wasn’t). He was happy to give refund as we said the quality of the meal was not worth £26. Will not be coming back to this restaurant or ordering delivery. Completely disappointed and our wallets feel empty and so does our belly. Currently heading out to get a KFC as we are not satisfied at all.

The food here is amazing. I’m coeliac so eating out can be a bit of a problem and handles quite quite a bit of anxiety at times. However, at Tarboush they have a huge selection of gluten-free food there is not only reasonably priced but it tastes fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the staff are friendly polite and that makes for a really great evening. You can see into the kitchen And the chef’s in there seem to enjoy what they do and take great pride in what they create. If you want a reasonably priced great night out in a good atmosphere then this has to be one choice.

Oh darling, where do I begin? The charming maître d' at this establishment must have taken one look at our fabulous foursome and thought, "Ah, yes, the veggie mezze for these lean, mean, green-eating machines will do!" At a mere £25 per cranium, we expected a cornucopia of culinary delights to descend upon us. Instead, we were graced with an array of starters so petite, they could have been served in a dollhouse! And then, the pièce de résistance: a trifecta of plates that might satisfy a pair of lovesick sparrows on a diet, but hardly a gang of ravenous humans. I do believe if we had taken a wild plunge into the menu with our £100, we would've been swimming in a sea of sumptuous selections. Alas, the proprietor must envision us as jesters in his court of gastronomic gullibility! A rollicking good time was had by all... our wallets.

So glad we came here for lunch, a little oasis of calm on a busy Saturday. The chicken shawarma wrap and falafel were really good. Waitress and waiter were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again!

Lovely staff, incredible food and great performers to entertain you whilst you eat - what more could you want. We had the mezze which were they were able to do both vegetarian and gluten free so they’re very accommodating with allergies too.

Really nice and relaxing vibe, banging shisha which haidar the waiter made for us with a big friendly smile on his face! Made us laugh alot! recommended us some incredible Turkish and Egyptian tea, Ended up having a chicken shawarma wrap which was incredible also let us smoke the shisha on the front so we could people watch on the street, 10/10 chill Friday night

Called in on a whim and were greeted in a friendly and warm manner. Despite not having a reseveration we were promptly seated. Nice feeling inside, and decorated as you might expect. The food we ordered was nice, and reasonably priced. The staff who greeted us and waited on us were all very friendly. The menu felt like a menu you'd expect to see in Gordan Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (not meant in a bad way), where its just perhaps a bit too long, where he then simplies it, reduces it down, and focuses on several really good dishes rather than lots of variety. I think that would work here, as most of the dishes are typically either chicken or pork, its not entirely obvious (to my uneducated self) what the real differences were. The only other criticism I would have were the table clothes. There were there, and they look really nice, but they had all been covered with a clear piece of plastic to protect the material/keep it clean, and make it easy to clean down. I fully understand the mentality of this, and the convenience for the restaurant, but it doesn't look that great. In short, nice food, reasonably priced, and I would visit again.

My family and I went here after my sisters graduation and it was the perfect end to the evening. Alice was very helpful and patient with my family, she offered to take a picture for us and was very attentive throughout the meal. The food was very nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. I could not have asked for better customer service!

What a little gem of a place that has apparently been there for much longer than either of us knew.We came across it completely by accident and we were not disappointed. Amazing food and comfortable clean surroundings. Really friendly staff in kitchen and front of house. Our server has only been there a month and her passion for her job was lovely. Really fresh and tasty food and we will definitely be back soon ( once we stop being full)!

A nice option for a dinner with friends. The place allows you to talk with each other with no loud noise, smooth ethnic music, generally good food and attentive service.

Ordered a lamb platter which was usually £12+ but was down to £10.95 as an offer so thought give it a try. When it arrived it was not a platter, very small portion of lamb and small portion of fries. The whole thing was very cold and incredibly disappointing:( my wife had a wrap which was also stone cold. None of it was worth the money and won't be ordering again unfortunately.

Today I ordered two falafel wraps and 1 chicken wrap from here. I specifically called them after placing an order and told the receptionist PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY ADD SOME SAUCES TO ALL THE THREE WRAPS. She happily replied that SURE. I WILL LET THE KITCHEN KNOW. Yet after receiving the order me and my friends were hoping to get good and not so dry wraps. Unfortunately, they were still TOO DRY. We couldn’t finish even half of our wraps because they were difficult to gulp down our throat because of being so dry. I am really disappointed FOR NOT GETTING THE WRAPS AS EXPECTED EVEN AFTER CALLING TARBOUSH IMMEDIATELY AFTER PLACING AN ONLINE ORDER TO MAKE SURE THEY MAKE OUR WRAPS A BIT SAUCY AND NOT DRY.

A friend and I were staying at the Premier Inn in Loughborough and looked for an interesting, ideally independent, restaurant within easy walking distance. We struck lucky with Tarboush! We had a very warm welcome, attentive but not fussy service and fantastic meze dishes. We chose 6 different dishes and a serving of flatbread and it was quite enough for us (apart from the separate "dessert" stomach that had room for rose water rice pudding....mmm!) Everything very flavoursome and in generous portions. Our serving staff were all delightful, especially Louis and Haida, and the proprietor was charming. All the tables were busy on this Friday night and I'm not surprised. Good value and good fun - highly recommended

Food definitely overpriced. The portion for £10 for 4 little slices of chicken and dry as popadom naan bread is way too much. Can’t tell about the taste of food because can’t even taste such mini portion. Just funny…

This restaurant has an amazing fresh positive vibe. They serve some super delicious exotic middle Eastern dishes. I really loved the atmosphere, the food and the great service. I am really looking forward to my next trip.

We booked this place as it had really good Google reviews but no idea how. We were so disappointed with the whole meal. The drinks were awful. £7.95 for a mojito which tasted nothing like one, it was basically a couple of blocks of ice, white rum with some lime cordial! My husband ordered a large beer for £5.95 and it was a multipack can! I then ordered a sangria which was red wine and fresh orange juice, I sent this back as it was disgusting and they did take it off the bill. We waited 50 minutes for our main course which when it arrived we could have got the same thing from a local kebab shop for half the price and it was very dry. The only positive from the meal was the guy that served us, was extremely polite and friendly and the hummus starter was nice. Wouldn’t return or recommend.

Welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The food was fresh, tasty and all round gert lush. Will most definitely be returning for a Saturday busy service with all the family in tow. Cheers folks - that food put a smile on my face 🙂

Amazingly tasty, delicious food. It was my first meal after arriving in Loughborough and I absolutely enjoyed and ate to my fill. There is enough sitting space. The food is fresh, healthy, and affordable!!!!!!!

Good food but a shame that the servings are tiny for the price you pay and extremely long wait for the food to arrive. The venue feels also a little run down. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing and probably one of the best seasoned mezze dishes that I've ever had. I do feel a little bit cheated with the portions. The whole meal also lasted almost 3hrs because they took too long to serve each dish. Possibly a tactic to make us feel full.

Ordered Chicken Shawarma wrap and Bbq chicken platter, only to get some chicken shawarma and salad on the side with a lot of french fries instead of the wrap. Wrong item. And secondly a £12 bbq chicken platter with just four small pieces of kebab with just salad and a lot of french fries. Weird dish, never had a Turkish platter with more french fries than Turkish sides. No hummus the least. Their food seems to be inconsistent with quantity and presentation, and far from authentic Turkish food.

Have been to the Tarboush several times over the the years when visiting Loughborough normally for lunch and have the vegan lunchtime platters which are delicious. During the week on this visit I picked up a Falafel wrap from the express counter which was carefully prepared in front of me and very tasty. On Saturday night I decided to eat in and unfortunately had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. I was on my own seated in the middle of the tent area and was unaware that a belly dancer was about to arrive, the staff no doubt were aware and should not have seated a single person in this position. She arrived at the same time as my food and danced right by my table and I had very loud music blearing out right behind me as I was trying to eat. In addition the veg BBQ was nowhere as nice as the lunch time platters (and more expensive) dry vegetables (a lot of onion), limp salad, dry bland stew and dry rice - no sauce. A very poor vegan meal - you can do better than that at lunchtime so why not in the evening?

We arrived looking for beverages and shisha. We were given a very warm welcome, the atmosphere was fantastic and despite being busy we were so well attended to. Shisha and drinks were excellent. The staff were chatty and fun. Loved it, we will definitely be back!

We loved it here! Came by for a date night when we were in town for a wedding, it was great food and a great staff so we came back with more friends a few days later. We especially loved the mezze tasting menu and Judy took AMAZING care of us. Highly recommended.

Second visit yesterday and we had Mezzeh for 6 people. Tons of great food and a lovely belly dancer who had people up dancing with her, which really added to the atmosphere. It felt timeless, like it could be 8pm or 2am. Really enjoyed it and I think my 88 year old dad enjoyed the experience 😂

Great customer service with Judie. Food was great, really nice vibe and left very full! We got the sharing platter and it was brilliant.

As we were a large group the owner decided on the night that he would offer us a buffet for £25.00 per head and include meat, vegetarian and vegan and eat as much as we wanted. We reluctantly agreed and it was a BIG mistake. Food was cold, not enough and they would not serve more. No vegan food. Not visiting this place again.

The chicken shawarma is excellent. The owner and workers are very nice and welcoming. An outstsnding Syrian restuarant located at the heart of Loughborough.

Went here for a anniversary dinner with the wife and OMG What a hidden Gem, the food was amazing staff were amazing and super helpful The décor inside makes you feel like your dining in there culture loved it Very reasonable prices and quality of food was exceptional It's all open kitchen with glass so you can see the food being cooked I cannot wait to come back

Tarboush Express is finally open! I tried it today on their second day, and I am soooo pleased with the experience. I had an amazing bite of Chicken Shawarma that took me on a trip to the Levant, and I then had a Lamb Shawarma meal which was as amazing! There was also another person expressing how he felt the flavour was even better than the most famous meat Shawarma in the middle of Damascus Centre! I had to end my meal with a cheese Knefeh (Kunefe) which is a traditional dessert and this was also very tasty with a pot of Turkish tea that they offered me with a hint of Mint inside it, making it a mix between a tea from Turkey and a Morrocan tea! I loved it... and I strongly recommend everyone to have such experience. 👍 👌

It's big, it feels authentic, it has some fair tasting wines to match the middle eastern cuisine. The small cold dishes are good, the larger mains sometimes don't have any depth of flavour. Seasoning may be the issue. White wine warm. Bottle opened before it came to the table A BIG NO NO. challenged by server when said tonic was actually lime and soda but we were right! They need to sharpen up their act.

Had the set meal £25 - fabulous. Really enjoyed the variety of food presented to us and the service and atmosphere were great. Will definitely go back
