The starters were lovely. When they brought out the complimentary bread it came with no dip - I asked for some and they said they would bring me a small portion and then if we wanted more it would be £6! Wild!!! All the Turkish restaurants I’ve been to the dips are free…it’s a bit of sauce…the mains were ok, meat was nice but without the usual sauce it didn’t taste the same, it was so dry and it came with the driest salad and piece of flat bread which provided nothing to the meal. Atmosphere was ok, cold upstairs so I kept my coat on the whole time. For the price, I really wouldn’t come here - there are so many nicer Turkish restaurants and you get more for your money. Would not return again.

We ordered the Chicken platter to take out after the staff nicely explained what was included. The Chicken (Shish, Wings & Beyti) was juicy and succulent - very tasty with a hint of charcoal taste. Rice was okay...salad was okay...bread was alright not like it was homemade...and no sauce (chilli or garlic mayo). Wondered whether the staff forgot to give the sauce or we had to ask 🤔? Overall it was good. We only popped it to give the place a try as we were shopping nearby.

A bit of an odd experience eating here. The first thing I saw on entering this restaurant was a CCTV screen and high security door - which is odd as the restaurant is not in a particularly rough area. The restaurant itself is quaint if you are being kind - a bit shabby if you are not. It is cash only, which seems quite dated now. The service was odd - a bit slow, and although polite and friendly, the staff seemed distracted and slightly spaced out. The food was OK, but not anything special. Overall we felt disappointed, and although we live fairly close we won't be going back unless there is a revamp.

Very disappointed!! Table booked for 2, arrived and seated upstairs. Now a word to the wise if you have mobility issues you will struggle , the stairs are steep! The food was ok but thought expensive for what it was, we were given the mains and the waitress said the bread and salad will follow,, the salad came to us but we had finished the mains! Really odd and no sign of bread. By this point had enough. been to plenty of Turkish restaurants before and normally you expect at least tea at the end… nothing here! Atmosphere wasn’t great and we felt really cramped in. The tables were close together. They have a sign when you walk in that’s it’s cash only but they do take bank transfer. Would not go again.

I’ve eaten here many times and never disappointed. The food is beautiful, home cooked and fresh. We had the warm meze starters and the sharing platter for main course. All elements were delicious. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

First time in Mangal. Very small place giving the place a cosy feel. The food was served on small tables and small plates. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Having been to a few Turkish restaurants I feel the it is expensive for what we had hence 4 stars.

Last minute decision to go for food after a hospital appointment but were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food, great service and value for money. Would definitely recommend and go back.

Very disappointed. Anniversary meal & waited almost an hour for food. Ordered cold meze which came out with incorrect main. Had shorter wait then for bread to go with meze. Finally correct main arrived and although food was OK, was not that hot. Not at all attentive - didn't ask how food was or even acknowledgement when leaving.

First time of going hear, very nice little restaurant got the old beams inside. Food was lovely bit sue in the hummus as it has to much tahini in it for my liking, the lamb melted in your mouth the chicken fell apart and the wings were full of flavor. Bead was warm and fresh. Service was good the girls were lovely greenfly polite and helpful and there wasn't that feeling of being rushed like you get at some places at times. Atmosphere was ok. We will come back again

A real gem of a restaurant- small and personal, smells great when you walk in. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food is excellent and good value. We have eaten here on numerous occasions over the years and never been disappointed.

We ate at the Mangal on Sat 3rd. We had Mix Mezi starter, lamb and Chicken mains with Rice and Salad, Bottle of Ephesus White Wine. All the food was well cooked and presented. Service was a little erratic but enthusiastic. The bill was for £55:50. This restaurant has a CASH ONLY policy. Fortunately not a problem for us on the night, It would seem reasonable to advise customers on booking to prevent problems. —- Paul Reynolds.

We live 5 minutes walk from the restaurant yet still get charged full delivery...I wouldn't mind paying the delivery if the food was warm on arrival. Again today it took 1 hour 15 minutes to be delivered cold food. Such a shame as if it was hot I think it would b very tasty. Unfortunately we won't be trying again as it's been too many times the food arrives cold we spend a minimum of £30 everytime...so definitely womt be going back to waste our money again

Ordered starter of stuffed vine leaves, delicious and very nicely presented. My partner had garlic mushrooms. Ordered lamb kebab, can't recall the name. Something beginning with A. My Partner ordered shish, both very tasty as we swapped over and had one lamb one shish each as there was 2 portions per plate. I'd have preferred more pitta personally, n not half a wrap to wrap it in. Served with salad on plate and then each more small bowl salad n portion of rice. All very tasty the atmospheres nice here too, just felt too much salad. Oooh n the main drawback. Cash only. But I'll happily come back again.

5 friends having evening meal. Greeted with smiles by all staff. Waitress was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable when we asked about mixed mezze starter & wine. Food was served promptly, very fresh, tasty & plentiful. Really good evening. Would definitely recommend.

I have greatly fond memories of bringing my mum here after a hard day at work. I remember being quite young and having a restricted budget but wanted to give her an opportunity to space out from the long week she had. I came here, I stuck to a budget but the team were very generous and lovely. They gave us extra bits like free bread, hummus and Turkish delight. They allowed me to give my mum and treat plus experience a moment to talk about everything that had happened. They engaged with us, chatting away with us and giving us moments to laugh about. They gave her a sense of relief and let her step out of her mind for a minute. Therefore, we will always have fond memories of this place and the staff. It also helps that nobody delivers a better, more intimate and more delicious Turkish tasting experience in the midlands.

Booked for 11 people and we all had various meals including chicken skewers, chicken wings, lamb skewers, olives, chilli sauces, Turkish bread, and everything was perfect. Drinks of beers , shorts, white wine and soft drinks were enjoyed. Will definitely go again.

Went as a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday. We were all disappointed. The service was slow although the restaurant wasn’t busy. The mixed hot Meze was over cooked - difficult to differentiate what vegetables were in the black slimy vegetable mixture. The breaded mushrooms were cold. Not only that but the other starters were barely warm. Waited ages for our main course which were again barely warm when they were served. So disappointing! Won’t be returning.

We went for tea today and the atmosphere was quiet because we were the only ones there which was early so no fault of their own. The food was loveky and the service was great.

Fantastic food and always great service

Took my partner for romantic local meal. Wasn't disappointed, the food was ok besides the chicken wings didn't enjoy them. All the other food was fine. There was only another 3 customers on a Friday evening.

I moved recently to the neighborhood, and to be honest, I went there this evening just because it was convenient (near my home), but I had a big surprise. The food was amazing, We had the chicken kebab. the seasoning of the chicken was perfect (so the way they cooked: it - the chicken was juicy and tender) and the rice remembered my grandmother's (I could it without the meat). I am definitely going back.

Wonderful little restaurant in our town. Felt very homely and the staff were very helpful, friendly, fast and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The food - wow is all I can say! It was delicious and definitely worth the trip if you’re ever in the area or you are local to Syston. We will definitely be repeat customers for sure.

Was a little apprehensive given some of the recent reviews. Four of us had the mixed grill each - it was delicious. The bread was warm and fluffy. We were attended to quickly by a very friendly server. Based on tonight, would thoroughly recommend.

Would give 0 star if I could, ordered takeaway and never turned up, do not use this restaurant

Was a decent place a few years ago but now I didn't even bother ordering. Basically left standing for 5mins, ghen when given a table was left with no drinks a menu dropped in front of me and my wife then sat there for a further 15 minutes with no service. No excuse... got up and left only on the way out seen 2-3 members of staff sat drinking or o a phone . Sorry...... not returning.

The worst Turkish I’ve ever had in my life, the most chewy vile pieces of meat on top of that the rice was hard and had genuinely tasted as if it had been reheated from another night - STEER WELL CLEAR

My partner recommended here as she used to eat here years ago and loved the place. When we arrived there was a scrawled sign saying they don't accept card, which is odd for a restaurant (they used to accept it). When we sat down there was only 3 small groups of other people so not busy at all. We were sat down for at least 15 minutes before I had to get up and go and ask for drinks, I would have understood if the place was busy but it was not. When I asked for a pint of cobra i was told they have nothing on draught at all, dont know how they could run out as the place was dead and most likely was the same the night before. Shocking table service. The place itself looks nice inside, very rustic. When the lady finally asked us for our food order we ordered 2 specials only to be told they didn't have it in, when we selected another option again told that wasn't available so we asked for a couple of minutes to select something else. Another 10 minutes before we were asked what we wanted. The woman was acting as though she was rushed off her feet and ignorant, the place had barely anyone in there. When we finally ate our food it was not even decent. The lamb was dry, so was the chicken, I've eaten in better kebab takeaways. My partner mentioned none of the same staff were there from when she last visited so the problem must be the people running it now. Avoid this place if you can, there are so many better places to eat, they barely pass as a takeaway let alone as a restaurant. If you want a really nice Turkish visit Laras in Anstey.

We've visited many times over the last few years. And it's getting worse each time. Today was probably the last visit. We ordered the lamb shish (Grilled lamb pieces) and pilic shish (Grilled chicken breast). Ezme dip and chips with the lamb and chicken rather than the rice & side salad that normally comes with it. Why? Because the salad is always warm, because of how they pack it. And the rice is never great - like microwave packet rice. Well - the chips weren't a better alternative. Nice and chunky, but no taste and inside was powdery. Not fluffy. The chicken was dry and tasted very bland. The lamb was AWFUL. Incredibly tough - I needed a steak knife. And on top of it, had no taste at all. I have been to Turkish, Greek and other restaurant cuisines all over the country - as well as in those in the native countries, and mangal is just a very poor attempt at Turkish cuisine. The menu is getting shorter each time we see it, prices are going up and quality is dropping each time. The two stars are because they always get the order right and the customer service is good. But still not worth the time or money.

The food and service was greet and I had a great time over there with the authentic Turkish music that plays on the background.

Ordered 2 kebabs that arrived with no pitta bread. Halloumi portion was very small (3 mouthfuls for £5) and the salad was small and looked about a week old (it went straight in the bin). I did call the restaurant and they did deliver the pitta bread and an extra portion of halloumi but 20 minutes after the original delivery. Paid a total of £35 for 2 kebabs, halloumi, 1 portion of chips and 2 cans of Coke. Overpriced and disappointing. Delivery was also estimated to be between 30-50 minutes but we waited well over an hour.

Never left a bad review but this really got me mad. Paid 31.50 for a mix platter which was over cooked the lamb chicken even the minced meat was tough. You lot should be mad embaressed with yourselves and I never wanted to try your food because the shop front looks waste. Now I know the foods wack too. My Turkish mates would slap you lot up if they seen the crap your serving fix up you neeks. We work hard for money clearly you do not. Xxx

We previously had a lovely delivery from this restaurant (about 4-5 months back) so decided to reorder the exact same meal. When it turned up, albeit late, the food was mostly cold, the kebabs were cold to the centre. The meal also came with no dips despite it being a mixed platter and the previous time it having dips. I called to explain this to the restaurant as the platter was dry without dips, and I was subjected to an overly defensive woman on the other end of the phone. I wasn’t rude and just asked if some dips could be sent out which she stated was not possible as the mixed platter “doesn’t come with dips/sauces”. I explained that the picture on Uber eats for this dish even has the dips on, and we have been mislead otherwise we would have ordered them as extra. She refused to take any responsibility for this, and said it would be unfair for me to leave a bad review. I never leave reviews but this woman’s passive aggressive attitude really offended me and was completely unnecessary and would have been so easily resolved. What happened to the customer being right? I’ve attached a photo to prove this was what was advertised.

Lovely meal (takeout) as usual. Staff always pleasant and service quick. Best to collect as delivery is usually quite a while due to their popularity, but worth it!

I picked this restaurant to order from as it said the wait was 30-50 minutes. I waited for an hour and 30 minutes, rang the restaurant they apologised for the wait. then put the phone down while I was midway talking… i got the phone put down on me. The food was not very hot and in all honesty not very tasty. Overcooked unflavoured rice. hardly any salad came with it. It’s over priced and would not return.

Tender meat and well cooked. If you are a meat lover this will be for you. We were disappointed there were no olives / nibbles. Perhaps the predominantly meat menu reflects the food of a particular region in Turkey

Ordered food that never arrived. After many phone calls to the restaurant and being told they’d ring me back (which never happened) I finally spoke to the manager who said “the food had gone missing and they weren’t sure where it was”. Safe to say I requested a refund and I won’t be using them again. Best advice, avoid this restaurant at all costs!!

3 HOURS LATERWaited a long time for the food to arrive. Phoned 2 hours after initial order to see if it would be arriving soon. Assured it would be within the hour. Over 2 hours later the food arrived cold. Asked for a refund and told it would be a problem. Told the driver to return the food and provide a refund and again told it would be a problem. Ordered at 7.30, arrived at 10.40. Absolutely appalling service. Terrible. Shocking take away service. Food was cold and dry (obviously). Mangaled refused my refund. Awful place.

Fancied a takeaway to cheer us up during covid 19. Really good beautifully presented. Hot and tasty. Lots to eat and choose from.

Ordered the set meal for 4, when it arrived we all laughed at what came! Loads of salad and I mean lots! and the mains, well, thin layer of rice with a few bits of meat.As Mangal is a minute away I went down to ask for what had been left out and was told they had a limited menu, that’s fair enough but they shouldn’t take the money and then just shove anything they want in the bag, all I came away with was the £3 delivery charge.I sent a polite email two days later then four days after rang to be rudely told I should have said something before! Lesson learned.Plenty of other places to get food.Don’t rip people off and then be rude about it when you get told.

I’ve eaten at Mangal’s many times over the years and the food is always amazing. During the COVID pandemic they have started delivering. I placed an order last night but when it arrived it wasn’t right, I called them to explain, the manager called me back & sorted it all out for us. And as expected the food was delicious. Would highly recommend their takeaway service & restaurant. I can’t wait to eat in again once lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Just ordered a take out. Must say was cold, not even warm, cold will not be back and over charged . Well well over priced will never use again

Always very tasty food, chicken kebabs are lovely they come with rice, cuscus,grilled tomato onion and a chilli also delicious bread all cooked fresh. Really friendly staff too.

We visited Mangal last night and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food was very tasty and the service was friendly and attentive. I will go back again.

Been to here several times, the food is spot on, mixed platter is great the rice is amazing, customer service always good, reasonable prices and plenty of choice, the bread and dips well worth it, family run thoroughly recommend, it is small and it can be cold but don't let that put you off, we'll be going back again soon

This is the third and the last time that we will be visiting Mangal. Each time we have been, the food has been nice the staff have been friendly but the restaurant itself is very cold. It’s torturous trying to sit in the restaurant due to the extreme cold and it does spoil an otherwise great night out. We have mentioned it to the management on every occasion and lots of other Trip Advisor reviews mention how terribly cold this place is, so I can’t understand why they do nothing to address the obvious and ongoing problem. On the night we went, everyone in the restaurant kept their coats on, if it wasn’t so frustratingly annoying it would be comical. So my recommendations to you are either only go in the summer, make sure you take a hat coat and jumper or don’t go at all. Sorry Mangal, you know the problem but you don’t put it right, eating food from a fridge is fine but sitting in a fridge whilst doing that is horrible.

Was taken here for my birthday last night and can honestly say it was the best turkish I've ever had. The place had a lovely atmosphere, the staff were really friendly and the style and decor was beautiful! We had cacik and bread, then the mangal platter to share and despite there being so much I just couldn't stop eating! It was so tasty! Will definitely return

We went there on Saturday just gone never been before was told it was nice. Lovely little place really friendly staff. However the food was not so good the kalamar starter was something that came out of a freezer bag definitely was not fresh same with the garlic mushrooms. We had the mix grill talk about dry the lamb shish was worse then eating boot leather. Maybe just had a bad meal there but all four of use said them same. Will not be visiting there again

Walked down for an anniversary meal. Delicious feta & halloumi starters. Mixed grill & chicken, large portions served with rice and salad. Helpful friendly service. Will definitely return.

Undoubtedly the best Turkish restaurant within a 50 mile radius. First introduced to this restaurant in 2006 and have been eating there as often as possible ever since. Although there been changes of management the experience is unchanged, excellent food, drinks and customer service is second to none. We enjoy a very spicy acili ezme and they always make us one to our taste for which we thank them very much. If you’ve never been you are missing out on a fantastic culinary experience get yourselves down there.

This Turkish restaurant is great, it has a nice atmosphere and a really good smell of fresh food cooking as you walk in. The food we ordered was really good, it was just let down a bit by the poor wine choice and waitress.

When we been there it was cold may be time food was ok service was ok first time we been there nothings wrong loot of meat Item very good bread.

Lovely food, well cooked and presented. I had Shish kebab which was perfect, my sister, brother in law and my husband had lamb chops which were oversalted but still edible.

Great restaurant with great food. Simple food but very tasty and healthy. Freshly cooked in front of restaurant and tastes amazing. If you feel like a takeaway but want to eat healthily this is the place to get it from, and always ready in short time.

I think what put me off initially was the fact they have blankets on the chairs, and openly admit the restaurant can be cold. Seems a strange approach and to be honest I don't particularly want to have a blanket over my legs while eating. Food was OK but didn't seem as good as last time, and portions seemed smaller. Will give them another visit but doesn't seem quite so good as it was.

The great thing about Syston is that we have half a dozen shops of everything. Estate agents, vape shops, Chinese takeaways, hairdressers, Indian restaurants..... catching my drift here? But what it has only one of is a Turkish restaurant which kinda makes this place unique. So it makes this place a local bucket list.

After reading reviews I thought I’d give it ago as been to many Turkish style restaurants, and got to say this is bottom of the list, staff on arrival were very pleasant and showy is to our table, took drink and orders, so far so good, 7 of us had the mix grill and the lamb was fatty and chewy and on 2 of them the chicken was grisly and inedible, ordered extra bread for our main with never arrived when we asked they just fobbed us off, never again

Food was good but over priced. Most Turkish restaurants I've been the vegetarian meze and bread is free but this place charged. Worth a visit if you have never been though...

This was our 2nd visit, we had the Meze to share for 4, breaded mushrooms, calamari, helloumi, feta wrapped in pastry. Then I had the mixed grill, 2 types of lamb and chicken with rice and salad. Delicious, good choice of wine and beer too.
