Well have to say the whole experience here was fantastic!!! The food Was very tasty and I am very fussy a real foodie so it's good ! The attention to detail only adds the the experience ! There was nice of us in total and of us was a tired 4 year old ,the staff noticed he was upset and rushed over with a lolly to cheer him up❤️later my teenage son tried one of his dad's chillis and started to go red and struggled to keep his cool and one of the lovely staff came rushing to his rescue with a large iced water .they came out with my son's birthday cookie out with a fountain candle previded by them , lovely touch.after we payed they gave the birthday boy a gift and us all chocolate 😍 only a short walk from holiday in so perfect for us !love this place 💖

So after various advisory methods from friend's, we still decided to take a chance on Tara Lounge. Personally I had visited this restaurant twice previously on two separate occasions and found that both the food and staff were pleasant. Now upon this particular visit I was made aware of the food hygiene rating given in March 2017 of = 0 score (Given upon Doncaster Councils most recent visit to this establishment). This information however was obtained 1 hour prior to our visit so at a late stage in our day considering our table/visit was booked on the same evening we decided to go via the good grace of recent customers comments and up to date experiences (which were of a good standard). We were met by a completely silent building on a night were their "new" special offer menu was to be clearly displayed on notice boards scattered around the building. We waited patiently for 25 minutes outside the venue however after a lengthy wait we then proceeded to leave along with other very unsatisfied customers (who had also booked in advance) in order to secure food at other local venue. We had booked a table for a party of 11 origiaally but found the venue uncooperative and lacking in basic customer service. No explaination was given as to the delay or apology for an inconvenience even though a staff member insisted on taking a contract name/number upon booking on the night before..... no further contact was had with the company or staff AT ALL!!! I WOULD NOT ADVISE ENTERTAINING THIS COMPANY AT ALL... JUST STEER CLEAR... LET DOWNS WITH NO EXPLANATION ARE 1ST NATURE!!!!

My 3rd visit to Tara Lounge Warmsworth and I wasn't disappointed. We went as a family of 5 to celebrate my Husbands birthday and after reading reviews from the Food Standards Agency I nearly cancelled . So very glad we didn't the food and service were excellent. I'm not a lover of anything spicy and asked for mine very mild and is was , my husband on the other hand loves his spicy and that was to his liking too. We weren't squashed in, there was plenty of room between the tables so we didn't have to listen to other people conversations and we could chat happily without being over heard . The lounge area and restaurant are spotless and the waiters very attentive . If your looking for good food in a relaxed environment this is the place to come .

Visited on a Thursday evening. Was quiet when we arrived, but not dead. We had not booked a table. Upon arrival we were asked to take a seat in the bar area. After a few minutes we were given a menu and they took our drinks order. Just a note that on a Thursday and a Sunday they do a meal deal for £9.95pp for three courses. We placed our ours, and were left to relax with our drinks until we were called to our table. A lot of reviews state customers were left waiting a long time..this is slightly true, however I found this to their advantage as the service was excellent. We were called to our table after around 15 mins. We started with a pickle tray, which was lovely, nice big bowls with their selection of pickles and sauces..I could have happily just eaten pickle trays! Found it a bit odd that they took the pickle tray away when we'd eaten all our poppadoms,my husband and I like to have mango chuckney etc with our curry..shame. Both our currys were lovely, nice big pieces of meat (chicken and lamb) plenty of sauce and perfect temperature. The garlic nann was a good mix of doughy and crispy. Perfect. In all we had a lovely evening, the atmosphere was relaxed, the staff are attentive and polite. Thank you for a lovely evening,we'll be back again.

Seven of us came - we received a friendly welcome with drinks by the bar then were taken to our table - a round table - much better than sitting in two lines. Chicken Pakora isn't on the starters menu but were created for two of our party - poppadoms were fine - pickle tray had something very hot in it - everyone enjoyed the food although one of our party found the Rogan Josh "a bit too hot" - the usual rice's, naans, chapatis were fine and the staff were chatty but not over the top - enjoyed it. As an aside - we discovered after we had eaten that the Tara is under the same ownership as the Mehfil in Sprotbrough - if we'd known before we booked we may just have gone elsewhere - we found the Tara Lounge far superior - and we'll come back.

me and my boyfriend went to tara lounge for, what we call 'date night'. we ordered the table for 8:15pm and arrived at 8:05pm. we ordered some drinks which the man behind the bar said 'this young lovely woman will serve you', after waiting 10 minutes my parter got his pint and another 10 minutes later i got mine. we then got overcharged by the 'young lovely woman', she charged us £8.00 for two pints that last week cost us £6.90 by the same woman. we let this slide as it was busy and we didn't want to cause any issues. at this point staff were getting very stressed due to it being overbooked which led me to question why book so many tables in at once? at 8:35 a waiter took our order whilst we were sat at the bar. at 8:45 we eventually got seated. after waiting 15 minutes our poppadoms and pickle tray came. this review is not about the food. the food was beautiful. however the staff and service was very average/poor. after we ate we had dirty plates on our table for 15 minutes that were only cleared when the starters come out. at this point we ordered a jug of water and in return got two half pints of warm water which tasted like it literally came out of a hot bathroom tap. food came another 15 minutes later at this point i was bored and my partner was too, the waiter kept saying 'were busy tonight it's friday', yes it's friday, yes you're busy but the service shouldn't be any different. at the end of our meal we paid to find we were once again OVERCHARGED by £5.00 the waiter removed this from the bill and we went to order takeout (my parents couldn't come and wanted takeout) we then got charged £15.10 and got £3.00 change from a £20 note, someone needs to learn their maths. very unhappy as we had already paid £8.00 on two drinks and £45 on a meal. will leave it a while before we return.

I went for a garlic chilli chicken. I don't think it was on the menu but I didn't really look. I asked for lots of fresh green chillis and a crispy garlic nan. I got salt preserved chillis that weren't particularly hot and a regular nan. I ate a neglected chilli of my mates plate that I assumed was going to be the same. I was pleasantly surprised to find my sight returning after a few minutes from what was a quite fresh and very hot birds eye. Waiter was pushy and the meal quite expensive for what it was. All in all quite forgettable.

Visited on several occasions for both a family meal and a takeaway. The food is excellent, the best curry we have come across in Doncaster to date. We have tried a good variety of the menu and never had a bad meal. The restaurant is nice and comfy, with a separate bar area for meeting friends and family before moving through to the restaurant. Excellent Indian.

Walked into bar area on entering the restaurant and were immediately handed menus. We noticed how cold the temperature was... thankfully we didn't have to wait there to order as staff took us through to the restaurant. Thankfully much warmer there as I had thought, whilst in the bar, that I may have to eat with my coat on.... The food we ordered was lovely, served promptly by attentive, friendly staff. Me and my partner ordered takeaways from here every Sunday. The food was good for takeaway food, always made quickly and ready to collect when we get there.I have been over 20 times over the years to eat in the restaurant and in the last year this place has gone very down hill. It is usually empty, however you still get rushed to finish your food. Paying restaurant prices for takeaway quality food. Not a very good atmosphere either.Last time we went we waited just over 1 hour for our food, we told our server when we were seated that we didn't want to poppadoms as we were starving and just wanted our starters. He brought them out anyway and said that they were done now so we had to have them.Is okay if your looking for a quick evening meal and don't mind a pushy service.

We popped in and asked for a table for 4. It wasn’t that busy when we arrived at around 7.00pm but there were only 2 waiters on + the owner. We had a drink in the bar and chose what to eat. The owner kept putting off taking our order by saying . “I’ll be with you in a minute”. This went on for a good while and I believe it was at 8-00pm when we sat at our table. In that time people were arriving in dribs and drabs and the bar began to fill up so he was busy taking drink orders.Once we were at the table though Maz the waiter looked after us and the food was great as usual. The negatives, and there has to be some. The menu has a drinks section which has never been updated in about 6 years so half the stuff in there isn’t available and the prices I guess are wrong too so when the bill comes it just says ‘Drinks’ at the bottom with a figure so you really don’t know what you are paying for.

Holiday weekend and a small family get together, we decided on “Indian” to eat so decided to try "Tara Lounge" for the first time. The restaurant is nicely laid out, clean and tidy. The service was impeccable. Attentive but discreet with a decent menu and drinks selection. All the food we had was delicious, well cooked and the flavours were so good, warmed plates and very reasonably priced. Everything tasted so fresh and was beautifully presented; we shall certainly be making a return visit.

The food was OK, but I ordered a Biriani and it appeared somewhat androgenous. I would expect the rice part of a Biriani to be fragrant boiled rice with whole spices, this was a muddy affair and not great in appearance, although the taste was OK

We've been here before and always found the service to be good and the food the top side of average. There are better curry houses in the area but we've always found the pickle tray here to be excellent and the mains OK. Having been back here recently we came away with a mixed experience. The service was good despite recent reviews on TripAdvisor, with a very attentive young waiter. We experienced some delays when coming to pay but otherwise we were seated quickly and the drinks were topped up throughout. The most disappointing thing this time was greasy pops which ruined the pickle tray. We didn't opt for starters but had a decent enough main course selection from a mix of meat and veggie. The rice and nan were fine but the overall experience gained by the pops. We're go again but would it for elsewhere first. Not bad but a bitter taste from the off ruined the night. Probably time to change your oil!

We have been going to Tara Lounge for about 18 mths & it is steadily going downhill. We booked a table for 7.15 and arrived at that time. We were told by the manager 2 mins, several times, 45 mins & numerous enquiries later the manager came to us saying "you want your table, yes ??" Well of course we said yes as we were starving. I mentioned to him we had booked the table for 7.15 & his response was "well it's Saturday night my dear what do you expect!" I was ready to walk out at that point but my partner told me to wait. Poppadoms arrived & we had finished our drinks & ordered another round, but after waiting another 50 minutes decided enough was enoughWe walked past the manager saying we had got fed up waiting and he just murmured "sorry" not bothered in the slightest, so well done, Tara Lounge you have just lost another 2 to add to the 11 you lost at NYE, oh & by the way, there was another couple in the corner who were fed up with waiting....so that could be 15 customers lost in 2 months !!

We were organising a surprise birthday party and the plan was for us to tell the birthday girl a ‘girls night out’ was organised for a party of 4. The 4 would then turn up and arrive to see 7 others sat at the table complete with birthday balloons. Timing was crucial and various delay tactics were deployed so things would fall into place. The table was booked for 6-30 and I must say when I turned up I was surprised to see the carpark full. There was a large party already in full swing in the bay window room adjacent to the bar. Our party of 7 arrived before the 4 and we asked for our table (it was 6-35). No one seemed to know what we were asking for even though the table was booked weeks in advance. I found this very frustrating. We were contained in the bar area, which wasn’t our plan. In hindsight I think it was a stalling tactic due to the rather large part mentioned beforehand as they were in first and I suspect they were overbooked and couldn’t cope with 2 large parties.I went into the dining area and there wasn’t even a table set for 11! The party of 4 were to arrive shortly. Well the surprise ended up being in the bar, which wasn’t our plan. The table wasn’t ready until 6-55. We sat down and our order was placed at around 7-25. To cut a longer story short after having soft poppadums’ with pickle trays and our starters our mains arrived at 8-50! That’s a wait of 1.5hrs! The service was appalling this night. Our jug of water took 1 hour to appear, this was after having to ask for it twice. We had a chap who just dealt with drinks. He was a gormless, timid looking chap resembling ‘brains’ from Thunderbirds – and he moved in a similar fashion but alas he lacked the intelligence of said puppet. He would wonder into the dining room clutching his tray in one hand, the other hand holding onto the glasses placed upon it. He would then leave the glasses on the table they were intended for and leave empty handed, even though there were numerous empties all over the place. We stopped him when he came by as we needed to order more drinks “I need to get my pad” was the response. The chap then continued to make similar trips back n forth, each time never having more than 2 drinks on the tray at a time and still none for us. I found this intolerable and as drinks became empties on our table and the order list went up I stopped him and suggested he take some empties away on his tray…. He took just 2, clutching onto them while they sat on his tray. The wife wrote out a drinks list for him…. He was like a scared school kid! My wife wrote 3 ½ pts of Cobra. Guess what? He fetched 3 halves of cobra. When he arrived we explained it was 3 pts and a half he took the 2 halves away. Next a waiter came and said the barman was having difficulties understanding our order. We explained it yet again and eventually the correct order was received. Positives – food was good. The negatives.. and there has to be some - but this time around there were lots!Apparent lack of organisation, extremely slow service, poppadum’s were stale, chicken tikka wasn’t – not sure what it had been marinated in but is was bland and anaemic looking. Table booked for 6-30 guess what time we eventually left? 10:40 and no one had pudding!First time not leaving a tip

As prior customers of Tara Lounge we decided to spend New Years Eve at the restaurant. We booked a table for 12 people in advance for 8.30pm. We arrived around 8.15pm and let them know we had a table booked. We stood in the bar and waited...and waited...and waited. One member of the group spoke to the manager to ask when the table would be ready and the responses was 5 minutes. 30 minutes came and went. Eventually at 10.15pm we were seated at our table with 10 chairs (there were 11 of us as someone was unable to come). We asked for another chair and were told 2 minutes. In the meantime we were provided with some poppadoms. A few people started eating them before someone said not to as they smelt like paint and didn't break like normal poppadoms do. At this point the chair had still not arrived. When we asked for an update on the chair the manager was very rude to a member of our group saying 'it's NYE, were very busy, what do you expect' (along those lines). We then told the manager the poppadoms weren't right so he went to replace them. He arrived with a chair first followed by new poppadoms. At this point it was around 10.45pm and we made the decision to leave the restaurant. We told the manager we were leaving and he looked relieved. It was a group of 11 leaving when they were clearly overstretched and had overbooked so was a welcome relief to him. We sat at the table for around 10 minutes whilst we placed a takeaway order and at no point were we presented with the bar tab, so we left without paying for drinks. It is a shame as the food at Tara Lounge has been great in our many previous visits, but unfortunately this ruined our NYE, and Tara Lounge have now lost 11 returning customers. My advice would be book a table for your average Saturday night and you will enjoy it but steer clear of busy nights as the service isn't up to standard.

There are a great number of takeaways around nowadays and for me 75% of them offer cheap crap for a fortune. The takeaway service that Tara Lounge offer easily falls within that wonderful 25%. This high quality Indian restaurant offers the full package: top class table service, value for money and superb food. But if you fancy sitting in with a curry in front of the TV you can opt to order your food to go. We think the value for money is second to none, we had a chicken tikka starter, onion bhajis, chicken balti, pilau rice, chips and a garlic naan. Now baring in mind Indian takeaways are usually the more pricey option, all this came to just £14.30. This was easily enough for two people and fed two of us happily! Included in the price is a delicious mint yoghurt sauce which is very refreshing and plenty of salad. The takeaway time is usually around 20 minutes and the guys there make you feel very welcome. All in all I think this is an amazing place to eat, in or out!

I can't think of a single reason I would eat at Tara Lounge again. The service was terrible, food took forever to be served and was average at best when it did arrive. There's no atmosphere, just a random play list of pop music and bland decor. Drinks are over priced and again served very slowly by unapologetic and uncommunicative staff. We booked a table on a Saturday night for 8pm, our orders we taken whilst sitting in the waiting area an hour after we arrived. We ordered a second round of drinks at 9pm whilst still sitting in the waiting area and we had to ask for these three times. We also asked three times when we would be seated, each time we were told it would be 2 more minutes. We eventually sat down at 9.15 to eat our starters and our drinks finally arrived. Main courses then didn't come until 10.30! They had clearly overbooked and we were basically just ignored for over 2 hours. The worst customers service I have ever experienced in a restaurant, no one ever even apologised. It's a completely unacceptable way to treat customers and we will never return.

We were staying at the nearby Holiday Inn and their Meal Deal menu did not appeal to us. We discovered Tara Lounge during an easy 6 minute level amble towards Rotherham from the hotel and What a Find.Although it was a Monday evening and we arrived at 6.30pm there were already people in their attractive bar awaiting further service. The menu is appealing and once drinks were ordered we were quickly shown to our table. The restaurant is very comfortable and attractive with good outside light views. All staff were impeccable in their friendliness and service. The food was excellent and for us, of ample proportions. Although we were the first in the restaurant, three other tables were filled over the next 30 minutes. Great for a Monday. It is not unusual for me to experience an uneasy stomach during the evening after an Indian meal, I am delighted to report no problems in this direction and no long term thirst either. We were delighted with the find and will certainly travel out of our way when passing through the area to eat here again.

It was tasteful and lots of it, defiantly value for money. We couldn't finish our meals so the kind staff bagged it up for us to take home. The service was brilliant and the value for money was fantastic! I would recommend this place, and I will defiantly be returning

My family and I were recommended by a local hotel near this restaurant so we decided to give it a try for ourselfs. We were happy with the food and some of the staff, especially one in particular was very good. This evening soon went downhill when we asked for another round of drinks with our meal, we waited over 15 minutes for 3 soda and lime drinks, and had to approach the waiters three times to ask when we would receive the order. We understood that they were busy hence why we didn't make a big fuss at the time. We asked for the bill, and noticed that we were charged double for two of our orders, obviously the manager agreed to reduced our bill, but we then queried why we were charged £13.50 for 6 soda and lime, and a tap water. I asked for the breakdown of the b£86 bill and the manager just exploded in front of everyone and started moaning about us to other people including paying customers. This was extremely embarrassing and completely unacceptable. Unfortunaty this person was the manager and there was no other senior member of staff we could discuss our feelings too. This 'so called' manager made it clear that he was unhappy with our complaint and just kept reiterating that 'we are busy what do you expect' I expected better customer service and it is not our problem if you are busy, we paid enough and we should have received better treatment!!! I also feel if they can't accept the pressure then don't have such a big capacity and only a small amount of staff to cover!!! Very dissapointing and highly recommend that you do not eat at this restaurant!!

We went to the Tara on a Saturday night, not too busy but no-one on reception to welcome us. Waited some time before anyone attended to take our order. Meal was bland and not too hot temperature-wise. Our waiter was elusive and needed reminding about extra drinks etc. Virtually ignored all night. Bill was tardy arriving, once again needed reminding. We have visited this restaurant a few times before and always been happy but not on this occasion. Birthday celebration somewhat muted.

Went to the restaurant with friends. We have got tired of our usual Indian Restaurant and have been looking for somewhere new with good food, which was what we got on the Saturday night. The service was a little slow but the staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere in the place was nice. We couldn't fault any of the dishes we had and will happily return.

We stayed locally for the weekend and asked a health club member at the hotel we stayed in where was good to eat. She recommended the Tara Lounge for excellent food in a relaxed environment and she was right on the button. Although we didn't book we were warmly welcomed and sat down straight away. Our waiter was accommodating and the food was delicious. We ordered far too much yet our waiter was more than happy to bag the excess for us to take home. Great food, good price and friendly service. We'll be back next time we're in Doncaster!!

Visited at the wkend, was pretty busy as expected, nice place inside and good atmosphere. Had around 4 rounds of drinks in the time we were there and each time they took a lot longer than expected to arrive at table. Each course felt rushed, didn't have time for food to settle I between courses, starter was nice but I had a rogan josh for main and found it very bland and could of done with been served a lot hotter temperature wise! Wasn't the worst Iv tried but will not be returning

Moved into the location of The Tara Lounge in October & despite never having been, decided to give it a try based on the good reviews on this site.We visited quite early (7pm ish) on the first Saturday evening in December 2014 (6th) & despite already being really busy they managed to get us a table for 2 within 15 minutes. The food & the service were both excellent & we were made to to feel special & valued customers & the restaurant had really nice Christmas decorations. In fact we both agreed that it is probably the best kept secret in Doncaster, beating both the Doncaster Tandori & Aagrah for taste & value.Based on the our first visit we decided to go again on New Years Eve & booked a table for 9pm.What a difference, the place was in chaos & obviously could not cope with the number of people. There was no one to greet you on entry, staff rushing around like headless chickens & only one person serving at the bar.We stood at the bar for half an hour past our booked table time just trying to get served, the young lady ignoring everybody at the bar whilst she poured drinks for written orders for people sat in the Restaurant. After which she then left the bar unattended to fill up the glass cleaning machine & then cleaning the glasses that she had emptied out from a previous wash.At this point, still without a drink, we decided to ask how much longer we would have to wait, but but it was clear that there would not be a table available for some time & they would not provide an answer, so we had no choice but to walk out. Therefore whilst we would still recommend this restaurant for it's value & quality of food, under no circumstances never even think about visiting at any time when it could be busy, such as a bank holiday.Having been in business at these premises for a number of years, we would have expected that they could have foreseen how busy it would be and taken on extra staff to cope on such a busy night. They must have lost quite a lot of money on bar takings alone & upset far more customers than they pleased on this occasion.Ratings given are based on our first visit.

I've been going to Tara Lounge for a few years now as it is just up the road from me. The staff are outstanding, friendly and very accommodating. The food, well the title of my review speaks for it's self, excellent tasty Indian food at a good price for a good portion! Tasty sides too including homemade Naans and a beautiful yoghurt/garlic sauce! If you don't have time to sit in you can order a takeaway also which I just have and has compelled me to write this review. I ordered a chicken balti, basmati rice, garlic naan and 4 onion Bajis which came to just £10! It also comes with free yoghurt sauce and salad for free! Great quality food at an amazing price, easily enough for two in my Order! Who needs the crap they sell at tesco or asda in those takeaway bags when you can get all that from a professional curry house for ten quid! So yes here is one very full and satisfied customer, Tara lounge, bravo!

We have driven/walked past this restaurant many times over the years, without giving it a second thought, we decided to give it a try one night after reading some good reviews. So glad we did ! The service is great, the decor very nice and the food is lovely. It's also really good value for money. They will cook to your taste too, i.e, more spicy, milder etc, nothing is too much trouble. We thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely welcoming staff, fantastic decor,a party of 7 visited on a Saturday night, lovely that there is a separate bar to have pre meal drinks.Im sorry to say the food didn't live up to my expectations, it lacked spice, flavour, although the meat was succulent,we found it just didn't have that, wow factor. Between us all we agreed it just lacked, spices, and less oil each to their own, I don't profess to be no Indian food expert but have eaten far nicer food in other establishments.

We picked the Tara Lounge as it was ideally located for a meet up with friends, as it is close to the A1. It is located in a nicely converted pub and the staff were welcoming and helpful from first to last. There is an extensive menu from which we selected a range of dishes to share. The hotter dishes to my tastes, lacked balance and subtlety of flavour and were dominated on chilli but on the whole the food was Ok. I would eat there again, but would be more likely to try alternatives.

Tara Lounge is located on the main road to Sheffield, and is the same site previously occupied by the old Cecil Pub. The restaurant was literally a short walk from where we were staying, so worth a visit. The inside of the restaurant is quiet and sophisticated. Waiters are friendly and smiling, eager to please. The food was served on a trolley - there was a lot of variety, and the spices were nicely cooked. You can order according to taste if you want things a little hotter! Service was efficient but not hurried. We also took advantage of the takeaway service located at one end of the restaurant. There's a comfy cubbyhole and we were offered a cold drink gratis while we waited. The waiter was impressively polite and very friendly. An excellent restaurant for lunch!

Located on a busy junction with a good-sized car park you don't notice the noise once inside. The staff are friendly and issue drinks and menus while you wait in the bar area. The choice is excellent, both I and my stepson's fiancee can be fussy eaters and we were spoilt for choice. My dad and his wife are regulars and we went as a family for his 60th birthday. The staff were great, making jokes about his age and keeping the drinks flowing all night. The food was, as ever, amazing and plentiful and always served piping hot. The napkins are cloth rather than cheap paper rubbish and wipes are provided at the end of the meal. My dad's birthday cake was kept as a surprise and the whole night was a great success. We've been on several other occasions and always find the Tara to be professional. The food is always excellent and we've never had any complaints. For us, it's the best Indian in Doncaster

My wife and I have had numerous meals at the Tara and all but one were pleasant and exactly as you would expect. On one occasion they were extremely busy and it all went a bit Pete Tong but we forgave the poor service and have recommended this restaurant to lots of people since, we now seem to have lots of takeaways but cannot fault the quality of the food. One of my favourite dishes is Benglor Chicken Roast which is fantastic but I have struggled to eat it all on a couple of occasions, if you are looking for a good quality Indian restaurant give the Tara Lounge a try.

Six of us booked for an early Sunday evening treat and we weren't disappointed. We have visited this restaurant a few times since it opened and the good standard has been maintained. The lounge is welcoming, giving you a chance to sit, unwind, ponder the menu over a drink and order. The menu has not changed since it opened, but there is a decent choice with some unusual options which are worth trying, especially the chicken liver and the squid starters. Accompanying the poppadums, the pickle tray is the standard one; food is well presented and flavoursome; naan bread is well cooked and the side dishes very good. Meat is nearly always tender, lamb chops are delicious and the king prawns are big and meaty. Staff are happy to recommend if you are stuck. The wine list is big enough, is not overpriced and offers decent matches to the food. A pity that the Kingfisher and Cobra only come in bottles, and the larger King Cobra is no longer available. My main quibble is that, like most Asian retaurants, this one needs to spice some things up a bit. It tends to cook for the jaded British palate. I've been eating hot foods for fifty years and love the flavour and heat of different chillies; there should be an option for diners to select the hotter dishes and get the full impact. A Naga chilli must go a long way here!If I wasn't moving away, I'd certainly return.

Visited TL for the second time over Christmas and I'm afraid to say things on the service front have not improved at all. I first ate there over a year ago, and although the food was nice both my wife and I could not get over the rude waiting staff, we were kept waiting in the bar area for an age (probably so we would buy more drinks!!!) then after being shown to our table our food was rushed out and as soon as we had finished we were asked to go back to the bar area, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. This latest time was no different, again we were made to wait in the overcrowded bar area, then once seated at our table things got worse, we had to clear our own starter plates, had to ask for a wine menu 3 times before someone obliged and again once we had finished were asked to leave the table and go back into the bar. This isn't an isolated experience either I have family and friends who have told of similar incidents, who ever runs this establishment I would advise to take a hospitality course or something as everyone who dined with us said the food alone was not enough to entice them back for a second visit.

I visited Tara Lounge yesterday with my husband. We went about 6.30 so it was understandably quiet, but the atmosphere was lovely. We were directed into the lounge and offered drinks and a menu, then shown to our seats once we had ordered. My husband ordered a vindaloo, but the waiter suggested something else on the menu, which would be a hot, but tastier so he went for this instead. The dining area is very well decorated and has a large modern booth which I imagine would be good for large parties as it is quite private. The food was delicious and the service start to finish was fantastic. I will definately be visiting again in the near future.

Nine of us went out as a family to celebrate a birthday. It is nice inside and we were welcomed by a pleasant member of staff, so it all started well. Then along came a very rude little waiter. He was rushing us to order our food and sometimes it can be difficult when ordering as a group. We Then received our food which was very nice except a few burnt poppadoms which were hidden at the bottom of the stack, possibly hoping we wouldn't notice?!There was another group in, about the same size as ours, who were obviously regulars and seemed to be getting priority treatment - this is something that annoys me because all paying customers should be given the same quality of treatment.I won't be returning anyway. Not been here before and though we would try.Looked nice on line, in a lovely village setting.Parking limited. Arrived and resturant was clean and busy for a midweek night. Seated quickly, as we had booked. Toilets very clean, i always check this before eating, as i think it gives you an idea of standards.Spotless. There seemed to be a large party seated, to the right in the room of the main bar, who seemed to be getting all the attention.Making you feel they were slightly understaffed. However, not asked about drinks for a while, and other guest served drinks, who were seated after we arrived.Think these people were local, so i suppose, you support regular customers first. Young man, serving our drinks from bar ,was lovely. Eventually served drinks and our order was taken. Man taking the main orders from tables, had not taken his happy pill that day and you could feel this from a customer perspective. Just had a pickle try to start, and it was very nice. However whilst eating they asked if they could bring our main meal. We felt as if we were being rushed. Food arrived, it was nice, but nothing special. Expected to be served on traditional indian table wear, but was not, as others were. Not sure,if this was beacause of what we ordered. Even at home i do this as adds to experience. I cannot say the food was poor as it was not.For me average, and would probaly not return again. Price wise a little on exspensive side for what we had ordered. Had a simlar meal the week before, at a resturant in Leeds, which was cheaper , but food was on par with Taj cottage. You would expect Leeds resturant to be more expensive. All in all not for me, and dissapointed it will not be a weekly go to for our family, as we eat out at least once a week , so we get all the family together at the same time.
