Visited here for a few drinks after watching the rugby match.Does serve food but we did not order any. Just wines and beers. Staff friendly and helpful.Would visit here again.

Great selection of craft beers.

Came on a Friday at 3pm and stayed until after 7! Had a table but the staff were so unfriendly and useless we served ourselves the whole time - no problem. They did not bring a single drink to the table! To then get charged a 12.5% service charge is despicable but it is what it is. We won’t be back! Beer - 5/5 Service - 1/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Location - 5/5 Customer service - 0

We often visit the Tap Tavern and usually it is great but on this occasion it was not. There were a number of tables with reserved signs but we specifically chose one without one. At just before 5pm a member of staff came over and told us it was reserved from 5pm so we would have to move. No reserve sign to be seen, the only offer was to perch on the end of a high table in the noisy main bar area. No apology and when we mentioned the issue when paying there was no offer of goodwill as we chose to leave and go elsewhere for food. Would reconsider going again if this is how people are treat going forward.

Great location and decent beer selection. Unfortunately, the food is really sub-par. Had the burger and it was not good. The nachos are interesting to say the best. Have a beer or a GnT but don’t eat at this place.

Booked here for an easter Sunday roast with my family. Staff seemed hungover and disinterested, we didn’t feel very welcomed. We all ordered roast dinners and we were very disappointed. The meat was completely overdone and chewy, the veg was boiled to death and the gravy was like water and the potatoes were evidently frozen, bland and dry. There was absolutely no flavour to any of the dish and we had to use so much salt and pepper for it to be edible. The cauliflower cheese was also full of water and bland. The portions were also not very big for the price we paid. They also forgot to bring out the cauliflower cheese for ages until we had almost finished and we had to ask for it twice, to their credit they apologised and took it off the bill but then charged us for a beer we never had. Such a shame as we booked this as a treat and it ended up costing over £100 for 4 bland roasts and 4 soft drinks leaving us wishing we just went to a wetherspoons instead.

Really nicely decked out pub with a relaxed atmosphere with cool playlists. Wide selection of craft beers on tap. Not the best place to remote work on an afternoon, lots of inane middle class chatter in the air.

Visited for England versus Ireland rugby match. Though hoping for a different match outcome, the service and food quality were excellent even though pub was quite busy. Have been here quite a few times and always had excellent service and value for money.

Best pub. Great food and beer. Also have a number screens to watch sport. I was there before a game at Twickenham so was busy but good atmosphere

We had a work team drinks and food evening here last week and it was great, they made lovely gin and tonics, food was good too. The staff were very accommodating and efficient. Highly recommend. x

The food was expensive with no justification, the meat was dry and the pie was burnt. 2 sunday roasts and one beer for 50£.

The Tap Tavern best approached via the little alleyway because it is fun. A super pub with a range of keg beers displayed on the back bar. There are also a couple of bespoke cask ales on offer. Lovely staff behind the bar offering excellent cheerful service. The Tap Tavern is worth a visit anytime.

Me and my friends wanted to eat a fish and chips after a long walk. We were expecting to pay around 15£ but actually found out about the menu which included a meal and a drink for only 10£ !! We ordered beers and ciders that were some of the best I’ve tried, and the fish and chips was simply delicious. The waiters are extremely friendly and welcoming too and the atmosphere is very nice. Definitely recommend this place.

Love this place! Great for lunch, cocktails, AMAZING beers and great atmosphere! They have more seating and a bar upstairs which you can book out for small get together.

One of my favourite bars in the area. It’s a bit hidden away in Richmond but is so lovely to visit all year round. Great selection of beers, and delicious food menu. The Tap Tavern is dog-friendly, will accommodate you if you’re having a drink by yourself, on a date, and even birthday bookings. I’ve been here quite a few times in the last couple of years and have never been let down. There’s a speakeasy upstairs which is always full too.

Since uncle Jim's shut, it's been good so far. Nice spice too, and portions nice so no kebab in the fridge or kitchen top in the morning

Impeccable is the only way to describe this place! Excellent selection of beers, including Sours, great food, not the biggest selection but there is something for everyone including a nice vegan burger! Staff are really friendly and helpful when choosing a beer. Added bonus of a upstairs Speak Easy style bar...go check them out!

Came in here the other night. Venue had a lovely Christmassy vibe. I have to say the bar staff were not on their game at all. I was stood waiting for a good few minutes whilst they chatted at the other end of the bar. I had to get someone’s attention. I was the only person stood waiting. The place we chose to sit had glasses & plates from previous guests. I cleared them myself as no one seemed to be doing rounds on the floor to stay on top of tidiness. Good atmosphere & drinks but servers need to be watching the bar rather than chatting to each other!

Very busy pub on a Saturday night. Large selection of beer .

The food was absolutely terrible. Not a single one of us enjoyed our food and if it weren’t for the fact that we were starving and had to get to the theatre we’d have sent it all back and left. The chicken burger was not cooked well at all and was pink in places, it had an odd texture and there was barely any cheese, if any at all. It just didn’t taste nice at all. The fish and chips was overly salty, the mushy peas were dry and hard and the “curry sauce” was more like a tasteless gravy. Even the rice with the veg curry had an odd texture. It really wasn’t good at all. We paid £85 for the four meals and 3 cokes which was steep for terrible food and they charged over £9 for service when we went up to the bar to order and all they did was bring the food out, though our server was a very nice young man! Definitely wouldn’t recommend or return!

Banging Sunday roast. Great selection of beers on tap (but definitely more of a gastro pub vibe than pub-pub on a Sunday). Partner had “the best vegan burger”.

The double cheeseburger was first rate, and the sweet potato curry with coconut sambol had a delicious balance of flavour and texture. My pint of 0.5% abv draught Lucky Saint was the perfect temperature. The staff were most attentive and helpful, going above and beyond to make the occasion special for our group. Thank you. Disappointed given reviews. Very ordinary roasts. Vegetable wellington was pretty non descript. I guess a lot of demand equals limited pressure to produce something more home cooked and tastier

Great spot to drink beer - excellent selection of a variety of beers. Drinks are all quite expensive, some above the price of other local places. Food is good, tasty, comes quickly and is hot. Side chips portion is pathetically small however. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Several visits here.

If you like beer, cider, gin, wine or whisky then this place has an amazing selection of all of these !! I managed to sample 8 different beers from all of the UK and every one was so tasty!! The bar staff were brilliant, really friendly and made for a welcoming atmosphere. Richmond has some great pubs but I think this offers something a bit different in a modern, quirky, arty, friendly environment. Needless to say we will be back. Great work !!

Nice to have a bit of a tap room in Richmond. The Vaults is great, but that is quite seasonal being in a basement and doesn’t open until a bit later in the day. The beer selection in the Tap Tavern is vast and available in schooners or pints (I think halves too but that’s not quite enough!). It’s a little pricy, but if you get something a bit more arthouse it’s worthwhile. The Wimbledon Weiss beer was very good and something I’ve not seen before. There was also Rothaus Weiss beer on offer too, not to mention a multitude of other keg beers and some cask too. I wasn’t even aware they did food so didn’t indulge, but I think I’d trust they’d knock up a mean meal. Staff were friendly too and attentive to who was next in line at the bar (a rare trait these days) and there’s a decent amount of outside seating which is great for a town centre pub here. Of course the riverside pubs have a lot of space outside too, but the ones nearer the high street not so much. Can’t fault the amount on offer here at all or the diversity of the selection. Probably the best pub/bar in and around the high street and that said from many years of plying the Richmond vicinity.

We hosted a small private party at Dropkick Jonny’s - the whiskey bar above the Tap Tavern in September and they were absolutely fantastic. From the very beginning, Jack and Kirsty were super helpful and organised when communicating the plan and our options, offering buffet menu choices, and even curating a personalised cocktail menu for us based on our favourite drinks. We always felt we were in great hands. The event itself was seamless. My partner was allowed to pop in earlier in the day to decorate, and when our guests arrived we were greeted with a welcome cocktail from our custom menu, with gorgeous Print outs of the menu around the room. The atmosphere was lovely, cosy with plenty to look at, and we were able to play our own playlist. Throughout the evening we had Olly serving us and he went above and beyond all night. Always with a smile, friendly with our guests and making sure everyone got try all the different cocktails! He impressed my partner and his best friend with his whisky knowledge at the end of the night too! The food was heavenly - again accommodations had been made just for us to make sure there was plenty to meet everyone’s dietary requirements, and there was no trouble asking for a bit extra later when everyone wanted a bit more! Overall I can’t recommend it enough for a small event. Incredible staff, delicious drinks and top notch food. What more could you want.

The roast was very stingy - only 3 roast potatoes (and one of those was halved) - the beef was overdone and chewy (and not in a good way) and the miniscule portion hidden under a mountain of bland kale and red cabbage which seemed to have been boiled to the absolute death and then not seasoned at all so as to have strained any vitamins which could have been there into a stock pot that palpably didn't exist in the first place otherwise the gravy would've not tasted like they put a stock cube in a mug of water. I was the only mug at the end of the meal when I paid the 12.5% service charge - although the service was great.

Nice little pub hidden in an alleyway, good beer selection, food was okay. However we were quite disappointed that a 12.5% service charge was added to our bill without informing us. We ordered at the bar, so hardly any service was provided to start with, and the bar staff just charged us the full amount (including service charge). Probably our fault as we didn’t think of asking for the bill when paying (rarely do when ordering at the bar) but who really charges service charge BEFORE the food is even served?!

An incredible evening spent at TT for my partners 30th birthday! We hired the Drop Kick Johnnies bar upstairs and were not disappointed. Perfect size, great vibes and even had aircon and a screen for the rugby. Jack was incredible throughout, from booking to hosting us on the night behind the bar. Fab drinks, food and service. Will book again for sure. Thanks again Jack and TT team.

It's a strange thing, I lived down the road from Tap Tavern when it opened up, and I barely went in. I've moved away, but now when visiting I end up gravitating back to this place when in need of a quiet retreat away from the hoards of Ted Lasso tourists. Has the place changed? I doubt it. I was a fussy guy back when I lived in here, and was definitely guilty of the craft beer nerd cliché of assuming there's "nothing good on". That being said, the remaining pubs in the area are mostly Fullers or Young's, so beer selection is limited, even more so now that Real Ale closed up shop in Twickenham. But coming here you've got 16 taps, a vast cocktail menu and even a couple of casks too. You'll be hard pressed to find something you won't enjoy. Beer-wise it's not going mad for imports, hazy hype or lambics, you're not going to satisfy the most ardent beer nerds here, but to keep it relatively affordable you'll see Mondo, Siren, Deya among others. Those that are in that sweet spot of high-volume production. I dabbled in a 2% Deya Pale on this occasion, drank to the backdrop of a gormless chap on speakerphone to someone who didn't want to be video called. Food always looks good here. I've had a few of the burgers, fries, sides, and they're all decent. The roasts fly out too, and booking is essential on weekends - we arrived here a bit before the influx of 1pm bookings hence the emptiness but nice to enjoy it while it lasted. Varied menu, veggie friendly too, and dependable quality as well based on the times I've eaten here. Staff are always super-friendly, table service if you like, bar if you don't. I like the addition of the bar seats at one side, plus the window seating for a spot of people watching. It can get quite crowded, especially when the rugger is on. You don't have to squeeze in here though, the back room is spacious and comfortable, and there's a hidden speakeasy that's hidden from this post too (it wasn't open yet). I used to hate going to Richmond (sometimes I still do), but I don't mind it so much now that I've rediscovered this place.

Nice bar. Interesting tap menu. Suggest sampling a brew if not sure. Then I prefer to try a couple of halves rather than pints to try a few I might not otherwise get to try. Recommended.

Great beer options, but we found hairs in both of the burgers we ordered. Update: emailed tap tavern as suggested by reply to my review to let them know I was leaving the area and couldn't visit again. I asked if a refund would be possible. Five days or so after my email, I haven't heard back from them. Disappointed.

Great spot for relaxed drinks and food tucked away just off the High Street.

Lovely venue, really friendly staff with good knowledge of beers, gins and whiskey. Darren was particularly helpful all night. The food was really good too, and the decor was comfy and inviting. Unfortunately there were a couple of entitled customers who mistook me for a server and clicked the fingers at me to beckon me over. The staff dealt with their behaviour with a lot more grace and decorum than I would have and remained utterly professional throughout. We also found out about 'Drop kick Johnnys' and we are planning a trip there in the new year with friends. Thank you for a really lovely Tuesday evening!

Lovely bar with beautiful outdoor seating! They also show games indoors which is nice! They have some good vegan options (vegan burger and vegan wellington Sunday roast) which is good! The service is also very impeccable - the staff are very friendly :)

Popped in for a drink, was pleasantly surprised by the large number of beers on tap. Cocktails were being made behind the bar, and the atmosphere was really vibrant. Definitely will go back again, a nice find.

Great gastro pub with a stunning selection of craft beer

Excellent service, beers, food and all-round good vibes. Can honestly say I’ve never had anything other than a great experience in this pub. We booked as a group of 4, but someone else joined and the staff were really accommodating. The vegan burger is mind blowing, as is the truffle cheese.

Went here for Sunday lunch with a friend. The Roast Pork was extremely tasty and my friend got the roast chicken which looked amazing as well. I would 100% recommend going for a roast. But think they suggest you book as we did. The staff were also lovely. I've also been for other food before and have always had a great experience. I will definitely be back!
