Five of us stopped for lunch here on one of our Thursday walks and we were all really impressed with the quality our meals. The price of the food and drink is seriously competitive (e.g. Thursday special - sirloin steak and chips £12!) but when you dial in the very pleasant staff it’s our new favourite place.

We use this pub regularly and have always been made to feel very welcome. Just had lunch, burgers, the food was 5* as were the staff so friendly and accommodating will definitely return.

Wow what a nice pub. Looked lovely from the outside and just as nice inside. Having looked at some of the pictures on the wall behind the bar, we got the feeling like the pub has been a family business for some time and dad and son were pictured. Nice friendly staff who were very sincere and accommodating. So we had two adult meals, chicken katsu curry and I had the ultimate sharer which was amazing ! Both the adult meals were fantastic and really good value. Out little one had what she usually had which was a burger meal. Although not a complicated meal to prepare, this one seemed to be put together and cooked really well and was enjoyed 100%. The adults didn’t have any puds as he were stuffed but the little one had ice cream and a brownie which really looked good and was a generous portion too. If I had had room I definitely would have had one of those too lol. All in all this pub had a lovely atmosphere and provided a really good standard of food and at a reasonable price too. We highly recommend this one!

Good selection with generous portions at great value. Chicken pie and steaks are exceptionally good. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Large well lit parking area.

What's not to like, 2 meals for £12.99, huge selection to choose from, plenty of sharing platters too, friendly staff! they even provided a candle on a chocolate brownie so we could celebrate my brothers birthday

Had a terrific Christmas lunch with 7 friends and 8 dogs. Everyone enjoyed their main corse which was generally Turkey with one steak, one pie, one Katsu curry and one gluten-free Hunters Chicken. Very little left on the plates. Sweets were all very good too....

I visited this wee pub when visiting family who live locally, and I just have to say the service was exceptional! The place was spotless, cosy and so welcoming. I've seen another review here about the landlord being rude and I must say that this person must be chatting out their bum because the landlord and management were fantastic. I have a relative with special needs as well as one of our party having allergies and nothing was too much for them! So often you'll go into a place and staff will roll their eyes or hurry you away to please regulars but we really felt welcome here. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for letting us enjoy a normal family meal!

This place has varied over the years, and I've sometimes avoided it and then gone back to give it another go. I been into the Tap on lots of occasions over the past year and been bewildered by the increasing lack of the landlords presence, especially when it's busy. I decided to go in last week for a drink and was surprised to see he was actually there working behind the bar. A table of older regulars (men and women) where in having drinks and a laugh. What started as harmless banter between these locals and the landlord soon turned into abject rudeness on behalf of the landlord, and I was disgusted at his attitude, obvious irritation and total lack of respect towards these people, who realised he was out of order and started to ignore him. I went in again today with my family for lunch, and it was packed. The TV's were showing football and although the staff did their best, but neither the landlord nor his wife were anywhere to be seen. Our food took well over an hour to appear and was certainly NOT worth the wait, it was cold and poorly cooked. This place is on the way down again and desperately needs management who are not work shy and know what they're doing. We will not be back any time soon...not until I hear it's got decent people running it.

Four of us visited on Sunday lunchtime with dogs which were no problem. Typical pub menu with something to satisfy all of us. Enjoyed our meals, the beer and a very nice bottle of Australian Chardonnay. Not expensive so it was a winner all round. 12 of us turned up for lunch without a booking. Loads of space. Food was good and timely. What more can I say, I went in hungry and thirsty and left replete.

My wife and I visited on Sunday 12th May for an evening meal and after the awful experience would never go there again.

I visited here with my family on the 10th of May for dinner. The service was excellent! Food was hot and quick but also well presented. I had the lasagne and my husband had the steak. Kids loved the kids menu and the play area was a bonus! The manager Matt and his staff were fantastic!

We popped in with friends after a day out and there were 4 adult meals and 3 kids meals, ordering at the bar and drinks the service was great, but when it came to the food it was unfortunate as we really love this pub, one of the Childs sausage and mash the sausage had been microwaved so much you couldn’t even cut with a steak knife, another kids meal came out with the wrong side,the adult roast dinner was cold one mixed grill had two of the items missing and a adult burger has a bit missing. They did correct straight away but it was not the point, As I said service was great and straight to the point

We popped in to the Tap and Railway for lunch. The Barman was friendly and it was easy to order our food. We waited about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. Luckily we were no in a hurry. Including us the were 14 customers in the establishment, goodness knows what the wait for food is when the place is busy! My fish and chips looked great. Two massive pieces of dark golden battered fish. The eating of it was no so great, the batter was soggy and unpleasant. The fish inside was just cooked and the first piece I ate was hot. The second piece only warm. When I found the mushy peas a very small portion, hiding under a couple of chips, they were dry and tasteless. My husband said his burger was great and he enjoyed the apple pie.

Having been a regular visitor over the years and usually very pleased with meals( use to live in west Moors) I was somewhat disappointed with this visit.

I am so lucky to have this place as my local. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, it is perfect for when I am with my family as well as a girls night. The Sunday Roast’s are lush and they have an excellent selection of Gin :) Well done Matt, with a special mention to Katie and Toby, all fab.

Nice small Pub / Restaurant we have had no problems and will return again, do like the decor and the way it is set out.

We stopped here for a quick lunch and were quite disappointed. November with a bitter Easterly blowing and 3 degrees outside, no heating in this place at all. The decor was rather tired, wooden tables with ingrained black grease around all the edges, and the doors to the conveniences needed a lick of paint. The toilets were adequate and reasonably clean.

We've been a couple of times before and have always really enjoyed our visits here. I like to leave a good review because I truly feel the team deserve it. Always been greeted with a warm welcome and the busy, vibrant atmosphere really gives it the Friday night out feeling. We always have something to eat when we visit and we've never been let down with the food. This pub has improved non stop since Matt has been in charge.

Went on the 3rd of November with my family and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had a array of meals which all came out in good time and piping hot. My father enjoyed his steak and it was cooked to perfection. When we went to the bar to order drinks we were always met with a smile and happy friendly banter which made us feel very welcome and will definitely be back again. Great job Tap’n Railway!

This is one of our local pubs in West Moors and to me it's what a pub should be. Menu includes good old pub grub, excellent value, drinks reasonable prices too, they hold a well attended quiz once a fortnight, live music every now and again. It's all we want from a local pub.
