Today we went for the Prawn Wonton soup and were rewarded beyond expectation! Service was excellent and more main dishes included the Black Bean Beef and the totally white boy sweet and sour pork which we are not ashamed to order.

We've been half a dozen times, and the food is always excellent. Authentic, varied, with dishes that you don't often find in the Midlands. The braised brisket with potatoes is a great entry dish into this cuisine; like the richest, glossiest stew, but with mild warm spices like anise through it. The tofu skin salad with celery and peanuts is complex, spicy, and fresh tasting (and not likely to be available from your local delivery place). The staff are effective and efficient, if not always the friendliest. Yes some dishes are served cold (the staff are quick to point out which ones), and some of the meat has bones in it, but that's the nature of the cuisine. £60 will get you more food than 3 people can finish, and all in all I think it's a proper hidden gem of the growing Coventry food scene.

I admit that the food at this place is delicious. However, they engage in fraudulent practices when it comes to charging. The cash register clearly indicates a 10% discount for cash payments, and I even personally confirmed this with the waiter. But when it came time to pay, they suddenly informed us that certain dishes were not eligible for the discount. This detail was not communicated beforehand, and the waiter was well aware that we had specifically gone to withdraw cash. I am extremely angry. I advise everyone not to come here for dining; they lack integrity. They have brought shame upon themselves in front of the Chinese people.

Been here twice now and will be back again tonight for my 3rd visit- food is nice and interior is very cool. There are always chinese students eating here which is a good sign. The only thing that could improve are the drinks - for example coke is served from the can, would be nice to have proper beverages from tap/draught

My family recently travelled around the world and on our return to Coventry, where did we head... To Tangs! We enjoyed the best Chinese food wherever we went, Sydney, San Francisco, Brisbane, Los Angeles, even Nuneaton. But we all agree that Tang's is the tastiest. A big thank you to Tangs and your staff, and for food that is reliably so good.

I wish I had read the reviews before entering the restaurant. The restaurant decor is very authentic however the food is horrendous. I love my Chinese however this restaurant is one of AVOID! For starters we ordered 1 chicken and 1 pork dish. Both of these dishes were served cold. I appreciate the dish is cold but this should have been mentioned in the menu. It doesn't make why you serve 1 dish at a time. When we having the chicken, we you could not tell the meat was chicken. We had to ask the waiter what type of meat was in the dish! The chicken had a bones in the middle so each bite we had to eat around the dish. Safe to say, after having two bites we did not eat any more. For the main, we ordered boiled rice and chicken hot pot. The chicken pot was truly disgusting. The total came approx £38. Waste of £38. Myself and my friend decided to have a cheap pizza. It's a shame that there is no option to give this restaurant 0 STARS.

My first time trying traditional Chinese. Each dish tasted great. I'm impressed, I'd definitely return here.

We were heartened to find Tangs open yesterday and keen to enjoy a fix of their delightful Kung Pao chicken at home last night. There's something special about Tang's food, it's depth of flavours and good ingredients. This place is not suitable for westerners who do know and enjoy authentic Chinese food, and then whine.

We are never disappointed when we visit Tang. We cannot understand the poor reviews we read and it must be that people are not recognising good, authentic Chinese food. Lockdown means we have to use the take out service which has not been a problem.

We're on our way, a 30 mile drive, because we rate this restaurant and we look forward to our Saturday fix of good authentic Chinese food. Friendly staff, excellent service which is never faulted.

This restaurant isn't going to be to everyone's taste because it's not your typical Chinese takeaway. This is a lot like the food you'd actually be served in Northern China and is a great example of fantastic Chinese cuisine. But if you pefer battered chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce (nothing wrong with that) you are going to be bewildered! But if you want to try exotic real Chinese food you'll love it.

Ordered a takeaway. Was the only customer. Food was OK but the pork was like cooked long ago...dried up. Few pieces of spring onions but could have had more variety of vegetables in there. Yes, cash only was a surprise, though many small places have adopted this method, certainly avoiding paying full taxes. Reading what others have written, nit does seem like a one-man band in the kitchen, hence the delays. There was a discount on takeaways dishes, that was good.

I've done my best to be positive about my visit here. But nothing about it was good. They don't take card, the sign was appreciated but the fact the restaurant is also unlicensed and without a hygiene rating is not a good start. I ordered a chicken in black bean - a safer option as to be fair, the menu was very authentic and expansive. Unfortunately tho, my chicken barely resembled the winged creature. Every bite had a different sort of bone hidden inside. It was almost dangerous, especially if fed to a child. Would avoid.

I don't understand the mediocre reviews this restaurant receives. I have visited perhaps 5 times in the last year and have been very impressed. A wide range of attractive dishes make reading the menu an adventure for this aspiring Chinese food aficionado. The service is pleasant and always helpful and patience is shown to this westerner on every visit.

Poisoned our 5 year old son and husband...projectile vomiting 6 hours after eating at this restaurant. Wrong orders and rude uninterested staff. Avoid.

I have been here 2 or 3 times with my daughter and it is very authentic, full ofchinese people eating and worth a visit.the regional food is oily and lots ofchilli and the menu not easy to follow BUT i would suggest have a look at what other tables are eatingand orderORask the people atthe other table andthey will help you!!!! please do not be put off any feeling of 'abrupt' staff as i feel this is simply cultural

It was the first time we went there, we found ropes in our food twice!!!!the staff is quite rude also, would never come again.

Just totally clueless - food was wrong and they couldn't talk to you about anything on the menu. Then the food was crap.

Evita este lugar a toda costa. Tardó 30 minutos para tomar nuestra orden. Pedí agua del grifo y traían agua recién hervida que casi toda mi boca quemada. Cuando me preguntó qué estaban jugando en que dijeron que no estaban permitidos para servir agua fría. Los platos principales eran frías y claramente desde un congelado como partes estaban calientes y zonas heladas. Sinceramente, la peor experiencia que he tenido. El servicio era de perro. La comida estaba horrible. Los inodoros estaban cubiertas de tratarles mal. El personal era grosero y hablaba su propio idioma para cada uno del otro mientras sirve también nosotros. Evitar.

La comida era buena, pero esperamos una edad para cada curso.El personal era muy joven y no le importara si te sirve o no. Era muy difícil ver sus ojos y ellos a su mesa.El teléfono estaba constantemente yendo. Los conductores de entrada y salida para recoger comida para llevar entrega pero los huéspedes no estaban sirviendo.Creo que es un sitio con mesas.Además, NO HAY PAGOS CON TARJETA, SÓLO EFECTIVO. El restaurante no estaba lleno, pero nos tomó unos 45 minutos para que el personal espera para tomar nuestra orden, luego 45 minutos más por el primer plato en llegar, 30 minutos más por el plato de al lado. No éramos los únicos quejándose. La comida era deliciosa, pero bastante grasiento. Si no te importa esperar y como la comida grasosa, este es el lugar para usted!

Visitamos a la familia y, como el anterior, el restaurante unidos crítico era principalmente lleno de China twentysomethings que nosotros llevamos a ser una buena señal y no nos decepcionó.El servicio era pobre ya que nos sentamos durante unos 15 minutos antes de que alguien mostró un interés en tomar nuestra orden. Tuve que pedir dos veces agua y no parece entender el concepto de tener una jarra de agua en la mesa así que nos acomodamos para 2 vasos.También los platos llegaron en diferentes épocas con una separación de aproximadamente una hora desde la primera hasta la última con el huevo frito, extrañamente arroz llega en su propio unos 20 minutos después de todo lo demás. En ese momento todos estábamos llenos y terminamos pidiendo a la camarera fuerte (en realidad nos dieron una caja y tuvimos que hacerlo nosotros mismos! )El espaciamiento de los platos no era en realidad un gran problema, ya que resultó, ya que significaba que todos comimos un poco de cada uno de los platos que pedimos que hizo para una experiencia más agradable y variada. Solo que hubiera estado bien que hubiera sabido de antemano que esto sucedería. La mesa de al lado nos quejamos de tener la misma experiencia y he oído decir que "la comida era precioso, pero hubiera preferido que se unen", que es un resumen de la feria.Aparte del servicio, la comida era en efecto excelente. Entre los platos que pedimos fueron las albóndigas, pasta, carne al curry, camarones y gambas al curry. No dudaría en volver a pedir la misma de nuevo, aunque había un montón de otras opciones atractivas en el menú.La decoración era bueno y tenía una auténtica sensación de China.Sin duda volveremos y sin reconocer este lugar a cualquiera. No dejes tu el servicio, la comida más que compensan.

This was the first visit to Tang but by no means the last. Newly refurbished with traditional Chinese furnishings, the one thing which compelled me to visit, was the fact that every time I drive past the restaurant, it is full of Chinese people, which is a good sign. We were attended to begin with, but the waiters did not look out for the signs that the customer requires attention. We ordered 4 dishes from the extensive menu and asked that they arrive at the same time, but sadly, they did not. My friends main was a good 20 minutes behind mine. If this is the Chinese way, then maybe it should have been pointed out.
