Tandoori Hut in Barnsley

Having booked a table for 4 people, all OAPs, for 7.15pm on Saturday night, I did not expect to be ushered out exactly 60 minutes later, having a bill for almost £100. As I said, we were all Senior Citizens, but found ourselves sharing a room with an extremely noisy 21st Birthday party. Not that the party did anything wrong. After being shown to the table we ordered drinks, and pickle tray for all. As we were enjoying the starter, we were pestered by the staff to place the the order for the main course. Almost without a gap the pickle tray was whisked away, and the main course dropped in front of us. I will not comment on the quality of the food, as this is very personal preferences. As we were coming to the end of the main course the waitress began to hover around the table. As my wife was about to put her glass down,the waitress leaned across and took it away. She then turned to my friend and attempted to take his glass,he had to stop her as the glass wasn’t completely empty. She repeated this manoeuvre for the remaking glasses. Within seconds, the bill was on the table . By this time we were feeling very uncomfortable, and as both men placed cash in the basket, to a near amount. This was quickly taken away, and no attempt whatsoever to return the excess payment. At this point we were ushered to the door, and left. Would I return- NO, would I recommend the Tandoori Hut - NO

Was very disappointed in the experience, forgot one of our starters, some of the starters thick and cold, my sister’s main was terrible and the waiter was extremely rude towards my Dad. Unless the restaurant improves, I’ll not be returning.

We hadn't been for a couple of years as the last visit the food was very bland but we thought we'd give it another go, mistake as nothings changed, the restaurant is beautiful and so clean and the staff are very friendly but the food was a let down, two couples and the men ordered different dishes but they tasted the same and weren't a bit spicy, my byrhiany had 4 pieces of chicken in and the rest was very bland rice and peas, a large portion but 4 small pieces of chicken?? It said on the menu it came with a spicy sauce but it was just like gravy, my friend said hers was very mild but she enjoyed it as she likes a creamy curry but would have liked a bit of spice, the pickle tray had very strange sauces and the poppadoms were a bit soggy, we filled in a questionnaire stating the food was average and the manager came to see us and said we cater for clientele that like mild curry and 80% order korma (creamy and mild) obviously they have never tried thaal, aagrah or Akbars, by this time it was 9.45 and they were itching to get us off the premises

5 star what a class place it’s sparkling clean and decor stunning staff very attentive food was on another level would highly recommend

Called in this place on our way to see a show, we walk in without booking, we were meet at the door and got us a table straight away. we ordered our food which arrived within 10mins. I must say it was fantastic! one of the best curries i have had, the only downside its a long way from where we live.

Really good food, would be 5* if the onion bhaji was "dryer". Service was very good but we had to have a dirty glass and fork replaced. One star cut for that. Lastly the atmosphere, was welcoming but once inside the lights were very bright, making it less cosy. It was the outside lights that attracted me in as i was driving sobthey are a great marketing pull. Just when inside, by the tables, you could have the lights dimmer.

Went for a birthday treat, wasn’t very busy when we arrived but by the time we left it was full on a Monday evening, staff were very polite & friendly. Food was lovely one thing is offer mini naan as a large one is way too much for one person apart from that was a tasty & spicy meal we will be back

We had a takeaway delivered , the food was lovely and the staff very polite and helpful when I spoke to them via telephone after receiving my order. Fourth takeaway from this resteraunt in a month and will definately order again. Thankyou

The food is always excellent, the service just right. As a family we rarely eat out anywhere else. The only drawback was that it was a little noisy.

Only negative was you had to pay by card at the bar which I didn't know and I had alot of work colleagues who offered to get a drink for me or if not I wud of been sat there without a drink

Starter mixed kebab and main tandoori special. Were delicious, plenty of flavour. Our waiter started taking our order then wandered off in discussion at the payment desk. Was then checking on other tables. Had to call him back to take the rest of our order! Never had that experience in a restaurant before. Enjoyed the food

Went tonight and the food and service were not good There were 10 of us and most of us had the same views. We felt like they didn't want us there. Not friendly at all it felt like we were un welcome. The food looked the same and the chicken was hard. We all agreed we wouldn't go back. We paid £36 each Best thing was the pickle tray

Quite a few of us went here a meal (about 40 of us) on Saturday 20th January the service was excellent and tge food was really good. Lovely clean place, very polite staff

Been here before and can be quite noisy.But this time we went Saturday evening and was really busy. they put all the couples upstairs and kept the families downstairs which I thought was a really good idea. Food good as always. Will be back.

Meals were lovely, it was a friends birthday, which I made them aware of upon booking but they didn't do anything for that which was a shame. The staff were lovely, especially Elise, nothing was too much trouble for her.

Went Saturday night 6 January at 8.35 pm and got told we was too late to be seated, so we went to Darton balti and so glad we did food was delicious and a lot cheaper so that’s our new place to go from now on

OMG went here on Saturday meetings up with friends after Christmas like we always do, first time here was so good food was lovely and the young lad who was are waiter, was so good at answering our questions, he recommended me a dezi makari and it was the best I have taste for a long, there was 12 off us, and would like to thank tandoori hut and all there staff for a lovely night and we will definitely be back

Had a takeaway from here on Saturday night all I can say was lovely it came in the 1 hour slot the gentleman on phone said, it was hot and tasty and price was good will be ordering again lovely meal

Went here Monday evening for tea and the service on the night wasn’t good,the management were very rude and made it an awkward atmosphere. The food we ate have given up ALL three of us food poisoning!!! It’s now Wednesday and we are all still badly!!! Won’t be going again!!

First visit here and have to say I was very impressed A warm welcome at the door and quickly shown to our table The curry’s were as good as I personally have eaten (chicken bhuna) but the rest of our group had varied meals all of which had rave reviews Definitely up for another visit when I’m up next time

I have Coeliac Disease so I am gluten and wheat intolerant. The food at Tandoori was really tasty but my choice was very limited which was disappointing as it was the Xmas Day Buffet.

Booked a table for 7 people early Saturday evening. Good menu, food is very well presented and cooked to your liking. Service really good staff helpful and polite. Decent size carpark to the rear of the building. There are a number of vegetarian options on the menu. Really good evening well set up to cater for large groups.

Got home, found that half of the order was missing. Rang them to be met with very unhelpful customer service. It was very frustrating. Had to go and collect the missing order which resulted in everyone eating at different times. Not what you what you want on Mew Years Eve is it. The food that they replaced was disgusting! Korma that looked like soup. Worse still, they attempted to use the excuse that there was so many orders. Well, how that is my issue when I’m spending £122 I don’t know. Clearly, taken too much on and in the process let their standards slip.

Rang up a week and a half in advance to book a table to be huffed and puffed at when I said it was for 7 people. Booked for 7:00pm didn’t get seated until 7:55pm went to the car for something and was told “close the door behind you”. Staff rude and miserable. Long time between ordering and food coming out. We ordered at 8:10pm and food didn’t come until 9pm. Our young waiters to be fair were lovely but the management make it very uninviting and you feel like you are a massive inconvenience to them just by being there. Won’t be going again.

Takeaway. I usually order from here but tonight I am very disappointed. I ordered a lamb curry which the meat was very burnt and inedible. The meat was that burnt the curry sauce was over powered by a burnt taste. Overral the whole meal was very poor. I have rang to inform them to be spoken to very rudely. I will never order from here again!!

This restaurant is a true gem! The food is outstanding authentic Indian taste, with awesome flavors that tantalize your taste buds. This restaurant offers loads of food options to choose from. The staff is attentive and provides excellent explanations about the dishes. The added bonus of free parking on site and easy road accessibility makes it convenient to visit. Moreover, their rates are quite reasonable, making it a great value for money. My only request would be to add mini naans to their already fantastic menu! Thanks.

Customer experience a huge zero…! We were made to feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable by the staff and management. 8:30 booking and went straight through to table, service was quick if not a bit rushed. About 9:40 we asked for more drinks and a coffee but were told it was “too late” for coffee but happy to serve the beer. We must have been the last table as there were around a dozen staff hovering about 10 feet from our table waiting for us to finish, not a nice feeling! Our bill was sent to the table…we hadn’t requested it because we were finishing our drinks. Very obvious they wanted us gone so we paid and left our drinks. Will never darken their doorstep again, it’s obvious what they think of their paying customers as reading through the reviews this has happened to others. There are lots of good Indian restaurants in Barnsley I’d advise you to give them your hard earned money as the Tandoori Hut obviously doesn’t need it or deserve it.

Tasty, fresh food. Perfect portion sizes. Great menu with lots to chose from. Restaurant is clean and modern. Only negative - everything is spicy even the korma dishes. There is no reference on the menu of the spice level which has unfortunately ruined a few peoples meals on each occasion we have been. We will return as the food quality is high but think it’s important for others to be aware of how spicy everything is.

Used to love this place. Last few times for delivery it's been a very expensive sauce with little meat. Will not be using again.

Been coming here for years. The curry is absolutely unmatched and is one of if not the best places for British Indian I’ve ever been to. Never had a bad experience here Staff are friendly and courteous, the interior is newly decorated, amazing food, I recommend this place a lot

My mum really wanted to try this place so we popped in hoping they would have a table, and they did, even though it was a busy Saturday tea time! The place is busy but really pretty, with a lot of ambience. I had onion bhaji and karahi palak paneer, both of which were really nice. The bhajis were spicy (could have maybe used some raita) and the curry was delicious - I felt like I could taste every spice in it which was really good! My stepdad's chicken tandoori looked amazing too. Prices are decent. The naan breads are huge - definitely share between about three people! We will be back!

Visited Tandoori hut for an evening meal, the food was has delicious has always, very dissapointed regarding the service to the extent that we couldn't eat our food and asked if we could take it home..... the service was rushed, staff cleaning around us, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, cleaning tables etc.... it made us feel very uncomfortable, our courses were rushed, no break in between .....we were aware that the restaurant was getting ready for closing but when your ordering £90 worth of food, it's curtious to allow the customer to relax and enjoy their meal, if this is not possible then a cut off time for reservations should be at a time where the customer doesn't feel they have to take their food home so they can eat it without being rushed ......

Waiting staff were good, concierge was just rude, little does he know there are other Indian restaurants in the town who will be glad of my future custom.

Food and service perfect, couldn’t fault it!

Absolutely lovely food and really great service. The staff were really attentive and got us everything we needed. They were good at giving us advice in dishes too. Food was beautiful, really well cooked and presented. The only one star off was that the background music was a little loud but we were seated near speakers.

Not really keen on Indian food but this place has me hooked! Highly recommend

My wife and I ĥad the most exquisite meal tonight and thoroughly enjoyed our experience from walking in to leaving.The staff were all charming and made our evening really special,I can't praise them all enough and a special thanks to the chef who prepared one of the best and tastiest meal I have ever had.We will most definitely be found at the Tandoori Hut again soon.

Been previously & I loved the place, it was so beautifully decorated, posh, authentic & felt like a lovely restaurant! Now it's all blue & yellows/gold, I didn't get the restaurant vibe/ meal' out, I previously experienced sadly. It is lovely but, more like a posh café. Dined downstairs so, I can't comment on how upstairs is (was closed/midwk). This is my only reason for 4, not 5 stars! The food is perfect (no morning after stomach issues ever) & the staff are great/friendly, I will definitely still go for those reasons (if they'll let me in after my review)! 😂

First time visiting tonight and I must say the food and the waiters where excellent but disgusting the way fazia one of the managers spoke to one of the young lady's who worked there in front of the customers raised his voice and swearing her but she held it together and continued doing her job to be honest I couldn't have well done to you and don't let him speak to you like that again

In amongst the dishes we ordered, the Chicken biryani arrived, and we had to search for the Chicken in the rice. Also ordered the Fish masala which was unfortunately slightly over cooked and fish broken up into tiny pieces. The house mixed meat tandoori was excellent. On the whole ok, all dishes were on the sweet side for us.

It has changed quite a bit since we moved away from the area. We use to be VIP members and visit twice a week, so it was one of my favourites. The food was great, service good and nice to see some old faces. I only thing I did not like was that it was too loud. Had a canteen type atmosphere. Looks like they open the upstairs,ay ask for that next time

Me and my wife Went to Tandoori hut on friday I had a table booked for 8pm. We were seated upstairs. Within minutes of finishing our meal we were approached by a member of staff who asked if we could finish our drinks off downstairs at the bar as they wanted to mop the floors upstairs. This was only at 9.30pm Bearing in mind they dont close until 10pm I found this to be very rude and will not be attending the tandoori hut again. They didn't even give us time for our food to settle . Very poor customer service.

Proper like this place. Eat in or delivered its always really good. The nans are massive too.

First time visiting after hearing good things and always passing by it. Firstly the staff were excellent. Friendly, polite, and always in hand, making sure everything was right. Secondly, the food was immense. Chicken madras waa so rich and tasty. The chicken just melted in your mouth, and the garlic bread could feed a family of five. Catered as well for young children, so don't be put going if you have under 5s with you. The decor, however, looked a little tired in places however overall well worth the stars, and I highly recommend a visit and I can't wait for our next trip back.
