first time ordering a takeaway from here, cold, bland and expensive at nearly £40. will not be using again, cannot recommend

First time ordering takeaway, cold, bland, overpriced arrived at 6pm in the bin by 6.20

Visited this Restaurant Twice in one week absolutely fabulous food on both occasions served by a very good waiter (Top Guy) we will be back ..Cheers guys .

We went for a family meal last night and did enjoy it at the time but 5 out of 6 of us have suffered from stomach cramps and have had to rush to the toilet frequently over the past 20 hours. We are sure it can’t just be a coincidence!

Just had some absolutely beautiful food, I tried the Garlic King Prawns instead of my usual Bhuna, wow! Massive prawns and lots of them, mild and very tasty, definitely order it again, my wife had a Chicken Bhuna, we shared a mixed kebab starter, our mains were accompanied by chipati and poppadoms.

Always good quality food at a fair price. 👍🏻

New addition to this. Tried again yesterday. Chicken tikka masala. It was just big lumps of chicken in a very runny red sauce. It was terrible. Will not try them again. Had chicken balti take away. Was the worst curry we’ve had for ages. It was bland and undercooked. The sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. I hope the food they serve in the restaurant is better. Wonder if they have a minion doing take aways 😡

Brilliant food. Lovely staff. Prawn puri starter is amazing. I have a peanut allergy and I know I can be confident I can safely eat here.

Fantastic as always. Charity night so 5courses for £15 but whatever you wanted from the menu. Brilliant service and superb food as always. Charity is St Mary’s C of E and these guys are Muslim. Respect

Came in for a celebratory meal for my partner, I tried something new which was so delicious and our server Rash went above and beyond by packing up some of the yoghurt sauce and telling me the ingredients so I can make my own. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Fabulous food, couldn't find fault with anything, be hard to find better actually

Ordered a takeaway which took 2.5 hours to arrive, no update or apology on the order- had to ring myself 3 times to chase and no offer of any form of compensation made to rectify. They just said they were busy and kept fobbing us off saying it would arrive within 15 minutes- it didn’t. When the food eventually arrived it was cold and our plates were swimming in water! We couldn’t finish our main meals. Naan bread rock hard and again cold, and raita in the pickle tray had been watered down. Thoroughly disappointing when spending a lot of money on food where a minimum standard and quality is deserved by customers.

Incredible food , I have ordered regular from here recently for collection to take home and enjoy and it’s 10/10 for taste and flavour. Good portions , very good prices , wouldn’t use any other curry house in Barnsley . Plenty of options for meat eaters , fish and vegetarian options also good ! Everyone needs to try this place

Group of 16 for an 80th birthday celebration. Everything was absolutely spot on, from meet and greet when we arrived, making a fuss of the birthday girl with a birthday cake!. We have been here many times and the food has always been beautiful and this visit was no exception. Very attentive throughout the evening, and some ‘banter’. Will definitely return.

In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in Barnsley. We travel from Rotherham all the time to eat here. The staff are very friendly and the food is consistently good. Been using them for around 4 years and no where has come close to beating it yet!

The food and service was very good the only thing I did not agree with was being asked every 15 minutes or so if drinks were needed even though they could see that the glasses were still nearly full

Our favourite Indian in the area, it’s the best. Can’t fault the food or service. Always great and the staff are lovely. Food piping hot and tasty love their special promotion aswell 5 course meal for £15. What’s not to love? Be back again soon cheers

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious with a great choice of options. Freshly cooked & served piping hot!!!! Service is excellent. The 5 course £14.95 deal on Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday is fabulous value. Will be going again very soon x

Had a fabulous experience at the Balti Palace. We were a party of 9 who all had the 4 course meal. Everyone was delighted with all of the food from the fresh poppadoms, lovely pickle tray, fabulous starters to the really tasty curries. We all commented that we hadn't had such lovely Indian food for years. Service was friendly and attentive too.

Visited for a meal on a Tuesday evening and took advantage of the special 5 dish deal (on offer for £14.95) Staff were great, warm and friendly from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. All of the food was piping hot, and every course tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the local area or passing through, and we have already booked another visit as a family group later in the month! Cheers

I have been going on a weekly basis with my family here and honestly we have never had a bad meal yet! The food is amazing and the staff are really friendly and welcoming, they go above and beyond to ensure you have the best time. You are treated like a family member.

As Wombwell locals, we’ve been coming here for years. The food is absolutely great and you always have a great welcome from the friendly staff. Best Indian cuisine in the region. Absolutely, recommend.

We didnt attend the restaurant we ordered our food on line to be delivered, delivery booked in advance for 17:45. I placed the order and even rang twice to check the order had been received as I had not received any confirmation. I was told both times the order had been received and was told our food would be ready at 17:40. We waited until 17:55 and I rang for a third time to see where our delivery was. We were then told our order had not been placed, maybe there was something wrong with the app. I even said I have rang twice already to confirm the order and we are now left with no food. We have only used the app twice now and both times have never received our food order.

Will never go again, spilled a drink on my partner and she was soaked through, I get that accidents happen but the staff were beyond rude! Edit: Don't know how to reply on Google, was 19th November, gave the place a try after the 1 star cleanliness review was improved, trying to support local businesses but will never go again. Seem to publish good reviews on fb, will see if this one is shared. Got treat like you'd stood in us!!!

My family and I came for Christmas dinner December 2022 and had an excellent experience in every respect so we decided to return this year with more family members. What a disaster! We had a 2pm reservation and had to wait almost an hour, most of the time outside, before we were finally seated. We had a toddler of 2 years in our company and when I asked if we could bring her inside I was told this wasn't possible, incredible as it was a chilly, windy afternoon. The meal we had pre-ordered finally arrived after a long wait. 2 members of our party had ordered the traditional Christmas dinner and they were very disappointed. The potato was smash, a very mushy consistency, and the entire meal was poor, unlike the same meal last year which was fabulous! The Christmas pudding was also sponge cake. There were no complaints in our party regarding the Indian food. We finished our meal and drinks around 5pm meaning reservations at 4pm were running extremely late and were queuing outside in the cold and dark. Frustrated customers were actually banging on the window outside whilst we were eating. Embarassingly for me, I had recommended this place to extended family and friends who brought our party to quite a large number, filling 3 large tables. No-one was impressed with the lateness of seating or the whole experience. My husband and I have takeaways and eat in at the Balti Palace throughout the year as we enjoy the food but, disappointingly we will not return on Christmas Day in the future and won't be able to recommend either. Something went very wrong with the timing, food, service, staffing and I hope the proprietors/management will learn from feedback received.

Nice food but service was pretty poor

We had a wonderful meal on Friday, one of the best Indian meals we ever had. Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff, will be visiting this restaurant very soon again.

Had my surprise 40th birthday here, there was 46 of us. My wife sorted orders out a few weeks before. We all had such a great time everyone enjoyed it! The food was great, and I would definitely recommend and will be back. Thank you...

Ordered takeaway from here tonight. Used to enjoy their food prior to them getting shut down earlier in the year by the food hygiene people, so thought we'd give the another chance. How wrong we were! All seemed fine until my 6 year old son said "what's this in my rice?" He had found something wriggling about, which we've since identified as a carpet beetle larva! Naturally, at that point no-one wanted to eat the rest of the food, so I returned to the restaurant to complain in person only to be offered replacement rice (erm, no thanks) and half refund at best. When I said this wasn't good enough and suggested I'd still need to leave a bad review then that offer was revoked. Absolutely atrocious customer service, on top of terrible hygiene! After being closed down for this earlier in the year you'd think they'd learn. Best to avoid!

Delicious foods and staffs were helpful in explaining the variety of dishes offered.

Naan bread dry and crispy no taste. Main dish no taste to it plus the chips looked like they had come from the pizza shop next door horrible fries

We had , it was called a 5 coarse meal deal £14.95 each after having our meal the bill came with a charge of £7.00 extra we new it wasn’t the drinks after speaking to one of the waiters he’s said it was the naan bread charge because the pickle tray you get with the popadom are classed a a coarse , just tell me what you think from the photo

Our experience was from ordering for delivery, firstly the order was duplicated on their website and we was charged twice after contacting the restaurant we was told to ring back the next day which we did only for rude staff to say ring back tomorrow!...

The food here is delicious and the chicken biryani deserves a special mention.

Took the other half here last night after a few drinks around wombwell it was spot on, we got the set meal for two and it was good value for money. I do like a good curry, I've been to a few Indian restaurants and this one is up there with one of the best I've had, Would highly recommend.

Visited midweek, my wife and I plus 7 French friends. The waiter couldn't have been more patient and helpful especially considering the language barrier. Everything was correct, the food was stunning and the cost was reasonable

We went to the Balti Palace in wombwell, well what can I say, the food looked and tasted amazing, the staff there are very friendly people and would do anything to help you, one of the best restaurants we have been to and definitely going back.

I’ve gave this restaurant a one star because unfortunately zero stars is not an option. We ordered £73 worth of food at 7.30pm and didn’t receive our order until 9.30pm after talking to the staff at 9pm they kept telling me to ‘call back in 10 minutes’ to which after the second time I refused and told them it’s just NOT good enough! Then after asking to speak to the manager in charge the person on the phone all of a sudden could not hear me after speaking to me perfectly fine up until asking for the manager. And when our order finally arrived (cold by the way) the food was flavourless and and nan bread tasted dry! We also was missing a rice off our order! so all in order avoid this place like the plague!!

Everytime I have ordered (4 times) they send a text 30 minutes later saying they've cancelled due to no drivers. What a joke. Do not offer delivery if you can't deliver. 😤

Not had curry from here for a while due to an aggressive member of staff last time we ordered, thought we would try it as food used to be good. This was awful!! Curry was mainly water and tasted like slightly spicy chicken stew garlic naan bread had some sort of slime all over it and onion bhaji which used to be really nice tasted like it was cooked last week and had been keeping warm since. Won’t be bothering again

We ordered through the website, found the menu to be limited and were given a delivery time of 40 minutes. We received our "food" 3 hours later, after 4 phone calls and lies, the food had sweated and was terrible. Appalling all round

3 hour wait for delivery, 4 phone calls in the 3 hours - lied to each time. After 3 hours food was ruined, more water than curry, even though we were promised it was freshly cooked. And expensive as well. Very disappointing, no respect for the customer.

Takeaway order of £54 took 2 hours to come. Was very cold - pilau missing - 2 omelettes for kids wasted as they were in bed.

Had loads of takeaways from here, food always been fantastic, ordered a takeaway sunday and it never turned up, twice i rang and was told it was on its way, 3 hrs later spoke to someone who apologised and said he would honour the order Tuesday 23rd of aug today, he did ring me back but said i had to call with receipt, i explained i had no car so probably wouldn't get in, he said he would honour the order if i call, very disappointed with customer service when none of this was my fault

Went for a meal on Saturday night with my husband and wow, we wasn’t disappointed the food was excellent and the service was great, very friendly staff, I’ve been in lots of Indian restaurants but this so far as been the best

Food was lovely as usually. We normally have a curry delivered but decided to dine in on this occasion which we regret. The service was terrible, waited 45 minutes for someone to take our order so asked if it could be taken, then waited another 20 minutes or so. A waiter attempted to get past my partner with an high chair open knocking the table and the drink over. The table cloth (wet through) was left alongside the cloths o had used to mop up larger off the table and floor next to me despite asking for them to be moved. Hoping this was a one off but will not be in a rush to try the dine in option again.

Can I just say it's the best curry restaurant I've ever been to. The staff are very attentive and very friendly with a great sense of humour. I'm from the midlands and am experienced in curries but these guys can really rock the naan bread. It's so light and fluffy and the food is divine. The service is outstanding. I cant wait to come back. Please come and experience this restaurant you will not be disappointed. Xx

Booked online for 7pm . Table not ready when we got there. Poppadoms tasted stale. Starter luke warm and took ages to come. Mains took awhile but were nice and naans good as well. Staff were nonchelant and not really that attentive. Not the worst experience ever but definitely not the best in any way and unfortunately wont be visiting again..

Visited the Balti Palace Wombwell today with my parents for a meal before they go on holiday. Had a lovely meal, the restaurant was clean, tidy and the staff have been really pleasant. The food was brought out really quickly and It was all delicious, really enjoyed all of it. Thank you

My family and friends love this place. Its our go to favourite for Indian food. When we go with a party of12 the food all comes at the same time so we can all eat together. Foods amazing

Very disappointed in the portion sizes for the price you pay, ordered a tikka curry with pilau rice, onion bhaji, chicken pakora, cheese naan...the tikka was nice but lacking spice and flavour, onion bhajis were very rubbery and greasy, hardly any/no cheese on the cheese naan and the chicken pakora was very dry and tastless... paid over the odds for not a very good experience...don't think we will be ordering from these again have had better, cheaper, from elsewhere! Waste of money if I'm honest

Ordered food at 7.10pm to be delivered said delivery was 45 to 60 mins recievee email to say due at 8.10 at 8.35 still no delivery phoned restaurant up was told they will get it sent out but will be 25 mins husband went up for it instead they fave him wrong order it was a bag with £20 order in our order was £70 customer service n respect was zero will never go again.

Lovely food. Cooked well and tasty .. always deal happily with special requests. Always hot on arrival.
