Tandoori Cottage in East Hertfordshire

Was not informed that they did not take credit card. Had to get cash at a cash point with high exchange rate. Food was fine, but only us in the restaurant.

I went on Sunday. Actually they said buffet for 12.95 but there was no starter served for me as I went alone....but later when a group of people came... They served starters for them....not so good to treat a person differently. Please take care to treat all equally. I used to go regularly but after they treated me differently I stopped going there.

This curry house is a hidden gem! I've not found an Indian resturant, away from my childhood home, that's this good. The lamb biryani was delightful and I loved their peshwari naan. The waiters were incredibly polite and they clearly look after their regulars as I saw the owner greet them. They greeted us too which was a lovely touch. It was a great price for how much we ordered. This resturant will definitely be my go to for curry.

Went here on a date. A fantastic traditional Indian restaurant. Great food, friendly service, good atmosphere.

Came on a Sunday evening to try the Sunday Buffet. 3 course meal for £12.95. Excellent quality, very tasty food and friendly service.

Absolutely outstanding meal ... Service was awesome.. Bombay potatoes were best we tasted the chicken balti was so tender good quality produce and nice chicken used .. Recommended we have eaten in here 2 times but usually order a weekly take away .. Definitely come try it . See you next weekend x

We could not visit, so ordered a take away (on a Friday mid eve). A very good choice, great meal and friendly delivery albeit 7mins later than requested. V good value compared with others too ! Well done TC, and thank you.

This place moved from Northgate End to Southmill Rd. It is now in the Millars site off Southmill Road. The food is good always friendly and good value. Apparently it will be improved soon so can take larger bookings. The owner says that in coming months they will be offering a 3 course meal for around £12.95p per head, which sounds great. This is a good place for a meal for two or a group. Always friendly and accommodating. Worth a visit and a bit of support. I look forward to going back again.

Had a meal here New year's Eve surprisingly quiet ? Don't think they advertise enough ! Food was delicious, competitively priced and great portions ! No drinks menu available but wine, beers and soft drinks offered ! Breads were delicious and food tasty. Atmosphere lovely but quiet, restaurant clean and newly decorated with lots of statues and Paintings . Slight communication issue when ordering but waiter tried his best and sought help as necessary . Would return .

We order takeout often from tandoori cottage and I must say I'm always impressed 👍 the taste is great and I must say the meat is always done on what seems like a skewer and is soft and tasty rather than tough like other places. We love it 😍

Great Quality Food, With Friendly Service everytime. In a Beautiful establishment too. I Eat here regularly now and that's not stopping anytime soon.

Enjoyed every bite with the freshness and flavours , meal was cooked to profection it was delivered nice and hot we will definitely order again , Pleasant customer service and delivery driver provided a quick service seen as rather rural.

Food wasn’t great at all, chicken biryani was dry and didn’t seem fresh at all, hardly no taste, the lamb madras was so sweet, tasted like there was too much coconut not enough spice!

Awful! Rice was not fresh and all stuck together in a block, couldn’t eat it. “Free delivery” but driver asked for £2 on arrival ! Avoid at all costs. Phoned the shop to tell them about the rice and told because my order was only £18 nothing they will do! Rude

Probably the worse Indian in Bishop's Stortford. Greasy sauce and chicken that isn't cooked. Their pathetic madras will only give you food poisoning. Don't bother ordering from this restaurant and save your money.

I ordered meal by using bespoke android app Tandori Cottage Stortford. I ordered 3 items. chicken tikka masala, mushroom rice and South Indian garlic chilly chicken . This totaled £19.80 and was due to arrive at 19:49hrs. At 20:15hrs I called the restaurant to check on my order but was told that the restaurant has never received the order from the app. I explained that the transaction went through , the man told me I need to contact YoYo to resolve it. I reordered the same items over the phone adding 2 poppadoms. Man told me this will be 21 pounds something. When he arrived he asked for 24 pounds something. When I asked why was it 24 pounds he told me it was due to cost of delivery and the rise in prices. I showed him that I was already charged £19.80 from my online bank and that I have £2 cash for him for extra poppadoms. HE WAS NOT HAPPY telling me that he did not receive the money or order and that I have to contact HIS payment service to resolve it. Poor fella would not accept the fact that its his problem thst his IT service fails and he was still asking for full payment only so later I can sit on hold somewhere enquiring about my £19.80 missing .... and he had a cheek to add few extra pounds to the order . Effectively, poor logistics with regards to method of payment, slow delivery , theft by means of overcharging customers- few quid here , I saw another post with an extra 8 quid there... But the food was really good so , you lot make your own opinion how you approach. 😉

Ordered via there web site for delivery order never arrived staff claimed our food was 10 minutes away several times when we called. Our food never arrived do not use this takeaway!

The worse customer experience ever! We ordered food for home after over 1.5 hours I tried to give them a call and when I asked when the food will arrive and they just hung up on me. I tried calling again, another person picked up the phone and the same happened! I still can't believe how rude the stuff at this place are. Avoid!

We came here after work for an impromptu night out and we were amazed by the food! Even though it’s a small restaurant in the countryside it delivers food better than any Indian in the city I usually go to! The food was cooked excellently. However, the older gentleman was quite rude and abrupt and lacked in customer service. The price of everything was extremely reasonable and we left feeling full, happy and wanting to return! The chicken madras and lamb bhuna were probably the best I’ve had and the sag alloo was full of flavour! Look forward to coming here again in the new year! Thank you, George

Tried to scam the receipt added extra £8 by charging for items we didn’t have and also adding up to £1 to each menu item thinking we wouldn’t notice! When we did , they said oh our card machine doesn’t work…shouldn’t they have told us when we walked in? What if we didn’t have any other means to get cash? Might have just had credit card. It’s a shame. As the food was actually good!

Grumpy/ rude waiter ( must be the same elderly gentleman in previous reviews) food good, but marked down due to appalling waiter. Place needs a refurb too.

1.5hr to deliver - still didn't turn up so we had to collect. Good food but dreadful delivery service.

Been using this restaurant for well over 10 years for eat-in and takeaways- it’s always been excellent. Took my parents as they always look forward to going here when they visit. What a disappointment, the waiter an older gentleman was really grumpy as though he really didn’t want to be looking after us and we were the only people in the restaurant for the first hour as we had decided to eat early. Asked for some lime pickle and he said they didn’t have any, thinking it strange I asked another younger guy who was friendly and he went and got some immediately. The food wasn’t great and we all left disappointed with our visit. I think possibly the restaurant has changed hands as it use to be so friendly. Unfortunately the service from some staff and quality of food was not great-we will not be returning.

I ordered through Just Eat and when I saw that the delivery will be 1.5 hours, I cancelled the order. I was charged the full amount as “cancellation fee”, and I cannot get a refund. Common theft!

Eaten from here a few times but the food tonight looked awful, the chicken was hard and uncooked. The food wasn’t hot and was covered in onions. The rude man on the phone wouldn’t accept that there could be a problem and kept hanging up without any conversation. This will be reported to the food standards agency

Darn it, they forgot my Garlic Naan- hoping for a great takeaway with puri, biriyani and chicken curry.. But it was not ready when we were told it was for pick up. Waited at least ten mins and then they forgot to pack the naan. Too far to go back so not happy. Still a tasty meal...

We have always had difficulty in getting deliveries to Puckeridge but noticed the Tandoori Cottage ad on Facebook offering free delivery to many local villages. The menu looked good so we thought that we would give the service a try. I have to say that we are very impressed - the food arrived bang on time, was piping hot and throughly delicious! Good sized portions and a dish described as spicy hot certainly was! 😜 Give it a try - I think you will be pleased you did 😁👍

Just had the most amazing Indian takeaway ever. I always have chicken tikka masala they said to my partner they can make it at bit different and much more flavour! And omg it was amazing. We both thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful xxxxx Thanks xxxxx

Great food with lots of variety for all tastes that's well priced. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Great place to relax and enjoy some good food.

Phoned and ordered for a delivery and was told an hour wait, over hour and quarter later still waiting and despite trying to call numerous times to chase phone constantly engaged!! They even had our number but they didn’t even call back to say there was a delay / problem ! Very disappointed

Has really gone down the drain. I used to buy a lot of takeaway from them, but last time they missed out some of the items, and the samosas were just a lump of dough. totally uneatable. I called them and complained and they promised a refund, but didn't do it. Would never use these useless place ever again.

Service is good, food is not bad, I found the curries to be a bit sweet, maybe too much coconut? Other than that, the naan, rice and samosas were excellent.

Do not get delivery! We ordered through Just Eat, it said 45 minutes but took 1hr 30min. All we got for this was a free poppadom. Otherwise, the food was good.
