Tamarind pontypool in Torfaen

Ordered for the first time tonight. Food was lovely, cooked very well and very tasty. Easy to order through Just Eat, only critism is that delivery was a bit longer than we would have liked. Given a time slot of 21.15 -21.35, food arrived at 21.50. Nothing major really. Very young girl delivered, I am hoping she was much older than the age she looked. She was very polite however. Just concerned for the safety of a child knocking on doors so late.

Superb once again The best takeaway around Chicken madras spot on.order every week,never fails to hit the spot. Always on time.good telephone communication with staff also. Throughly recommended

We had items missing from our take away but we rang and told them and to be fair they delivered the item within 20 mins. There was some wrong items in the order also but i think their that busy mistakes will happen but they will put it right. Many thanks to them we will eat from here again as the food is so nice.

Had a delivery tonight was supposed to be madras and pilau rice and a keema naan got to be the worst I've ever tasted, no keema meat In the naan and boiled rice not pilau and the curry no flavour whatsoever my partner had a saag curry and rice with a tikka naan £35 what an absolute ripoff tiffins ten times better all you can eat and cheaper you should be ashamed to call yourself indians

Ordered some lovely curries from here in the past, the staff have always been pleasant to deal with.

Avoid this Place. Ordered online and waited an hour. Rang and was told the driver had just left which is a 5 minute journey. Waited another half an hour and rang again. This time the driver was lost but wouldn't be long. Waited half an hour and rang again and was told he was in our street. Strange as he never turned up. Rang again and was told wouldn't be long but I asked for a refund as our food had now allegedly been with the driver for over two hours. I was told PayPal would reimburse me. NO they wont. I have contacted again for a refund and now no reply. Poor service and dishonest. Reading the reviews I'm not the first to be ripped off

Ordered with the restaurant at 5.30pm and never arrived until 7.50 appalling when ring restaurant for update and get lied to regarding new delivery time. Very poor

placed an order last night purely because they were accommodating a vegan friendly order. We rang them and they said they could make any dish vegan friendly (by omitting ingredients etc) I had my first vegan Indian takeaway in 4 years, the korma was lovely. Many thanks :)

Worst Indian I’ve ever had! Cold, sweaty chips. Moist stale pompadom. Chewy and flubbery chicken that went in the bin! Absolutely vile and I couldn’t believe how expensive it was for utter trash. Really gone downhill here.

Absolutely ridiculous! Ordered from here before and they've been great. Will not be ordering again after tonight. Ordered at 8pm, told it would be delivered at 10pm latest. 10:15pm came by and no food so decided to call to be told it was on its way. 11pm came by and no food, called again to ask for a refund and was refused one, so said we'll just have the food then. The food never came and I never got a refund.

Always loved tamarind until tonight. Ordered over two hours ago and when finally got through on phone was told I have a discount next time. Sorry I know my rights there won't be a next time . Really bloody disappointed

The deliciousness was missing from the prawn curry we had still puzzled ! Maybe the sauce was missing something not sure 😟

Ordered food collected it all fab got it home my chicken madras had 5 small bits of meat and 3 out of the 5 had small bones in them. Won't ever go there again. Really put me off my food.

Always use this take away, never had any problems, until tonight Waited 2 hours for delivery, couldn't get through on phone,, think phone was taken off the hook. FOOD was dreadful, freezing cold & swimming in oil,was the worst I've ever had, never again 😡

Went for a curry ordered in advance online as usual . When I got there and asked for my order I found ‘Sham’ the boy behind the counter had given my order to somebody else . Aciddents happen , he said he would ring the person to get it returned . I asked for a fresh order as it had already been given out to someone he walked to the kitchen returned and appologised . 15 to 20 minutes go buy and the customer returned with my original order , Sham the boy behind the counter immediately then went to offer it to me out of the persons hands . ( I had already been waiting 20 minutes for a fresh order ? ) When I refused and asked for the fresh one he said he was making . He looked at me and walked away . Another 5 minutes go buy and they come out with my order (suspiciously quick in the same bag as it entered the kitchen) I get home . There are no chips in the order bag . The curry sauce is hot . The meat in the Byrianis & starters are stone cold . Used this place a lot Recently, never again they have completely lost my trust. Had a few mouthfuls of the food and was completely put off . Still awaiting my refund on the chips . Sometimes “sorry” doesn’t cut it .

I moved to the area about 18 months ago. I've tried a few local Indian take aways and The Tamarind is by far the best. The food is tasty, portions are decent, and the prices are reasonable. I've never eaten in so cannot comment on the experience, but delivery-wise, they've only ever been late once, and are normally early.

We have used this takeaway every Saturday for the past two years with great satisfaction, and l pick our meal up myself and it usually costs around £26.The staff have always been very friendly and helpful, always giving us free papadoms. A new man has now started and insists that l must pay for my papadoms so sadly l will not be using Tamarind again and this man's attitude will cost the owners the £1200 l spend there every year. l bought my Saturday indian from Parbin this week and yes papadoms were supplied free with my meal, this is how you make your regular customers feel valued and they will have my trade from now on.

Regularly have meals from here. Prompt delivery and food delicious. We usually order Chicken Tikka and Vindaloo curries but tried Tandoori dinner ...lovely!!

Had a delightful, reasonably priced and punctual takeaway from the Tamarind last night. Would definitely order again!

after an hour waiting we rang to ask where our food was - there was clearly a problem with their delivery so I went to get it and took their offer of 10% off for collection which they honoured the food wasn't special chunks of meat and vegetables that hadnt been properly chopped we wont order again from there

Ordered first time from Tamarind, bit of a wait, but it was worth it. Delicious, generous portions, nice big pieces of chicken, tasty naan, even a little salad on the side. Very nice dinner. Reasonable price. I would definitely recommend to all and will order again soon. Thank you.

Two hours we have waited for our order. Cannot get through on phone. You can’t rate food you have spent £21.00 on and haven’t received. Never ever again

Took order at 2100 Rang to check where it was an hour later told its with the driver Rang again half hour later apologises to me and says its just left with driver and on its way 50 minutes later no order still and it says online your now closed Disgusting way to treat your customers take their order and money and not even deliver their order and looking through its not the 1st time you've done this, shame on you

I'm shocked at the service provided by this takeaway service by the tamarind. This ruined my mother's Day treat to my mam as she ended up in bed by the time it came and said she'd just have it in the morning . I rang three times to check what was going on and the guy in the phone was clueless and told me they were on there way this was before he even checked my address so he was just feeding me b.s. I rang again around a half hour after that and he told me a different address he was sending to I said no that isn't my address he said oh yes that one is on its way . He had told me that half an hour prior. Full of lies. If you can't keep up with the demands don't accept as many orders . Over 2.5 hours is unacceptable this is the last time we shall be ordering from here . We've also had a similar bad experience with the same named restaurant but in another location sitting in . This is the end of trying this chain of Indian restaurants .they also attempted to charge me for a second time via email after taking money from my account in just eat also.

Food tastes really nice. Let down by the awful customer service, way underestimated waiting times, temperature it arrives at and missing items. Waited 2 hours and 30 minutes (estimated at an hour and 15 minutes) for a meal that turned up cold and missing items. A girl on the phone told me I would have to either have a refund at closing time, which was never delivered, or get the missing item the next time I order. No apology given.

Great food and very friendly staff would recommend to anyone I had given it 5 stars 3 years ago but now I'm down to 1 it only has a 2 hygiene rating and it's a new owner there is no restaurant now and it's very cold and dirty please dont go there im not anymore

Went for dinner with a friend, hadn't booked but were greeted witha friendly smile and welcome. The Staff were polite, efficient and very pleasant. The food was excellent with probably the best fish dish I have ever eaten. Have returned since and not been disappointed. Looking forward to going again.

Absolute joke. Ordered food, told up to an hour for delivery, an hour passes, no food and the restaurant is now closed. Leaving it too late to even order from anywhere else. Would never recommend to anyone.

I have been using this restaurant for a long time, and was shocked at the couldn't care less attitude of this place. I ordered a meal for me and my family which arrived in about an hour, I started to eat the meal and in the curry that I had in my mouth I had a plastic tip off something in my mouth and spat it out it was a red coloured plastic cap off something, I then rang the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager the young lady at the other end kept me waiting for a while only to be told he is too busy to come to the phone do I want my meal changed No I don't I want the manager to take a customer complaint seriously as plastic caps in your meal could be dangerous to others who ever is in charge of this place does not in my opinion care about his customers the business end of his existence I will never use this place again I was astounded at his complacency

Had ordered a takeaway online, waited an hour for delivery (no problem at all) when the delivery driver turned up, we was told that she didn’t have any change when I told her I didn’t have to collect change, she immediately wasn’t impressed. I told her. I told her that we would leave the food and order somewhere else. She stormed back to her car. Not impressed at all!!

I have just ordered a takeaway from here. They got my order wrong so I phoned them up and the lady on the phone was very helpful. I explained that 4 dishes had been ordered without onions and myself and my daughter have an allergy, so there is no way we could eat what they have cooked. Then she started talking to the chef and he came on the phone. He would cook new food if we went to pick it up. I live 5 miles away but they refused to deliver. He wouldn't give me a refund unless I returned the existing food. What on earth is he going to do with it???? Either way we had to make a 10 mile round trip to correct their mistake. I have never been treated so badly for something that was not my fault. We have gone to this restaurant since it opened, never again now!!!! Bring back BASHA the original owner!!!!!!!

This place has panned. Been refurbishing restaurant for months but there is no sign of progress. Worst take away ever had. Tough dry chicken tikka. Terrible tasting rice, curry. Sweaty smell to salad. Pretty horrid. Been going since opened but not again

Another very late delivered take away, over 3 hours for delivery this time, 2 and a half the time before that, why offer delivery with times that you cannot meet, think this is the last straw for us, which is a real shame as we have been enjoying their food for years but we cannot have another ruined evening.

Last time we visited we were turned away although the place was empty. Allegedly they contravened the rules of serving alcohol without a licence and playing music without subscribing. Opening in Tredegar now also which will be interesting!!

Well this is the 3rd or 4th time we have ordered from here, the 1st 3 times was great but the last two not so good😒. The last time they missed the mango chutney, so I told them to not please miss them this time! They didn't forget the mango chutney but they forgot the coconut chutney. The celery man hardly come to my door he just cldnt wait to give me the food! The restuarant has great service, cant fault it. But the take away I would AVOID☹

Very very disapointing. We had to wait 2 hours for delivery, and I had to chase they the order had gone otu!. My understanding of a curry is a mix of herbs and spices... throwing hadnfulls of chilli in does not make it tasty! the meal was awful it should have been lamb Rogan Josh. i assume the chef does not know what one of these is, the only taste was chilli. the meat looked and tasted as though it had been pre cooked in chunks and then added to the sauce. My daughter had Chicken balti and this too had too much chilli and prec ooked meat in wedges and chunky shapes. very odd. Safe to say we will not be ordering again.

Food is normally good from the Tamarind Pontypool. Seems things are on the change. Ordered on their website tonight and watched their state of the art Dominoes type meal tracker.

I can not give anything but praise from this restaurant. Friendly ,cheerful staff and fantastic food with great variety. 5 star

I haven't eaten in, but if the takeaway food and service is anything to go by, then I would say it's going to be very good. For takeaway, give them plenty of time, but it'll be worth the wait. I work at the nearby hospital, and a Tamarind takeaway is just what the Dr ordered to make the nightshift so much better - and there's always enough to take home in the morning too.

At last found the Tamarind, moved to st’cadocs last year been looking for a comparable Indian restaurant found at last takeaway meal could not be faulted will definitely be using again for takeaway and restaurant.

If you want to eat good food, go where the locals go. I always remember this when I am on my travels. On a visit to Wales I did my research, saw what the locals said and we found this gem.

I went there this evening with my brother nd left my new Samsung s8 behind. When I called it, it was turned off and going straight to message. When my niece rang the restaurant they denied it was there untill she explained it was tracked to there restaurant. Ahhh here it is. Then when I connected it, it was on again.

Cold night but a warm welcome and fresh, tasty food. Helpful staff and friendly service. Modern and bright interior and good choice of dishes. Haven’t been for a long while but loved visit all over again.

Ordered last night via website online @ 19.07 and meal turned up @ 21.06. They will give you a time of arrival that they can't keep to. I would give a 4 star on food as it is quite fresh and tasty but I would say Parbin is probably the best for punctuation and quality/value for money.

Last 3 takeaways have taken over 2 hours to be delivered. An hour to an and a half they say. A complete joke. You phone to chase the order and get fobbed off. Delivery and customer service is a joke. They don’t care about customer service. Friday and Saturday nights may take a little longer but a Thursday evening and here we are again with 2 hours having passed. I will never buy from these jokers again. Be warned! Maybe the just eat customers get priority but they never tell you this. In short the worst service I have ever known.

Been to Cwmbran Tamarind many times so we thought we'd try the Pontypool Tamarind for a change. Lovely meal. Fresh food. Very tasty. Service very good but a little slow between meals due to the takeaway side of the business being very busy. Lovely modern restaurant. Highly recommended.

We always go to the tarmarind but usually collect our takeaway. This Saturday we decided to have it delivered. Safe to say it will be the last! we ordered and we're told it would take 1 hour 30 minutes. Which was fine. 2 hours later it still hadn't turned up. We rung numerous times and no one would answer the phone. Eventually they answered and said it was on its way 2 hours and 20 minutes later. Shocking service! We don't mind waiting a little extra time than stated but to then not answer the phone is ridiculous. We would rather have been told it was over a 2 hour wait than be lied to.

Had a lovely meal with friends for a birthday. The young man serving us was polite and very attentive- nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Everything was spotlss- including the toilets- the restaurant was disabled person accessible inside.I'm looking forward to going again but this time with my husband.

I was down on business from Glasgow and came across this hidden jem nearly in the countryside.I can say this is the best Indian meal I have ever had and staff were excellent. If your in the area you must pay this place a visit , lovely inside , great food 5 stars from me .

Have eaten here and ordered from here regularly and never had a problem. The lamb shashleek is the best I have ever tasted from a take away. Only issue is it takes so long to deliver but I guess that comes with being busy. My favourite Indian delivery. Would recommend the lamb saag also

We ate here with another couple, we had visited the Tamarind in Cwmbran several times and always had a good experience, therefore we decided to try the restaurant closer to home, and we were not disappointed.The service is excellent, and the food stunning, I would highly recommend for any curry lovers.
