Tamarind in Cannock Chase

We moved to the area a year ago now and wanted to try out a few local restaurants. The tamarind is one we always come back to. We are regulars there now. Lovely place. Staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food is amazing! Would recommend to anyone. Even on their busy days they are still consistent and professional

I have eaten at this restaurant several times in the last few years and it's always consistently nice flavoursome food. The service at the table is friendly and sufficiently attentive. We will be returning here again in the future for more of these wonderful flavours. Tawa and Jhal specials were superb. ❤️❤️

Excellent service, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and just as importantly for a restaurant the food was excellent, superbly blended spices producing delicate but highly flavoured dishes at a good price point.

This is a really great Indian restaurant. We have to recommend the food we have never had a poor meal it is so delicious authentic and served with great care.Demi is so helpful and is a real asset she's knowledgeable about the food and has great sense of humour nothing is too much trouble for her she's friendly and makes you very welcome. Excellent place to eat with a very friendly atmosphere. All the staff are extremely helpful, especially Demi who always goes above and beyond to make sure all your ,dietry needs are catered for. Our regular Indian restaurant now at least once a week. Michele and Steve.

The best balti served outside Birmingham without question. Helpful, friendly people and the best food going so go there, its splendid. Nothing more to say except a shout out for the hostess who carried on working with a very nasty toe injury, a brave little soldier - don't know how to do emoji's on my PC so "strong arm emoji".

Great night again at the Tamarind, star of the show is young Demi, service second to none and food was fantastic. Ended the meal with a Tia Maria floater coffee. Can’t wait for the weekend when we will be in there again.

I was taken here by friends who wanted me to teat me for my 50th birthday and wanted to take me For a special meal. The place was good and the staff a little over attentive at times but their intentions were good to be fair. One lady seemed to be going round the tables and joking with the customers. I’m not sure what her job was but it seems a bit odd and uncomfortable. We had starters in good time but our mains seems to be taking a long time so we asked about them. They brought over some warm plates and we waited for our food but after about 20 mins it never came. My wife asked again about the food and said the warm plates for our food have not gone cold. The waiter apologised and said he could bring more warm plates so took them away. No more plates arrived. We asked again about the food, had some more apologies and got some more warm plates, still no food. In the mean time others around us were being served food and in some cases had finished and were leaving the restaurant. We asked again about the food, they started to bring food out to us in dishes but took the plates away, more food came out and then we got some plates which we used to eat the food off of. As my wife was about to start her food the waiter took it away advising that it was not her dish and that it had been out there by mistake. Slowly the dishes came out and we ate them. They offered us a round of drinks and advised that they had problems in the kitchen. This was fair enough I guess. We were with good friends and so the company was great. Now the food was all excellent, really tasty. We ended up with a naan we didn’t order but I guess that was someone else who would be waiting for food on a different table. After we ate it took a while and a few requests to get the bill. It seemed that there was a lot of confusion around who had ordered what. My friend paid eventually and I think that they were a bit let down by the place as I think they had been there several times before with no issues. I thought it was good. The best part was the food but the circus like organisation with the staff really let it down.

I booked a table for my daughter’s birthday, which included a surprise guest who we’d planned would arrive a little later than us. I arrived early and went into the restaurant to explain about the surprise guest and to hand over the cake, that I asked to be brought out once we’d finished our meals. The main personality of the whole evening was the superb waitress; Demi! She knew exactly what I was asking for regarding the surprise and assured me that all would go to plan. Once it was time to be seated, Demi was totally professional, as well as continuing to keep the expected, secret guest appearance a surprise. Demi has a great sense of humour and is extremely friendly & helpful. I can’t thank her enough, for making my daughter’s special night just perfect! Demi is most definitely an asset to this beautiful restaurant & we will definitely be returning again. The food was absolutely delicious (though portions slightly smaller than we’re used to) & the service from all staff was second to none. The dining area was spotlessly clean and well organised. Personally though, I’d prefer slightly lower lighting, as it was extremely bright; although, of course, that’s a matter of opinion. Super restaurant that we will definitely return to. 100%!👌

Our first time here , had friends over from Leicestershire . The restaurant was spacious , chairs were very comfortable, the atmosphere was just nice , we could chat at the table and enjoy a conversation we could actually hear , we all agreed that the meals were very well balanced in flavour ,myself and my friend had the garlic chilli chicken , and the ladies had a chicken bahar with a full perfectly cooked boiled egg . Sundries were flavoursome however we all thought the portion sizes were fairly small in comparison with any other restaurant we have used , and we've eaten at many Indian restaurants around the UK .. so if your a light eater (age 10 child size) then you would be fine , but if your like us you could do with some more then maybe bulk your meal up with extra rice . Overall food quality and taste 10/10 lovely staff and a very nice polite lady who is good at her job . Thank you tamarind .

Excellent food. My husband was taught to cook Indian food by colleagues and is usually very sniffy about the quality of food in Indian restaurants. He said that he oculdn't have cooked better food.

Last minute decision to go for a curry here, so glad we did. Food was excellent and the waitress was very knowledgeable and polite. All round a great place to eat.

Great service and willing to accommodate slight amendments to one of our dishes on the menu. The restaurant wasn't busy, possibly due to its industrial location. However, don't let that stop you from dining here. We all enjoyed our meals, which were a broad selection of the menu.

Took my son for his first indian meal. Staff were very helpful and kept the spice down. He has always been nervous about it being too hot, but he loved his meal. We will be returning again soon

Planned to go out with our lovely friends for Dee's birthday meal. She had been told of a Turkish restaurant in Cannock so reservation was made. We arrived first but could barely get through the door because of so many waiting to be seated. Our friends arrived and we made a quick decision to choose another restaurant and called Tamarind. Just a couple of minutes drive and we were at this lovely contemporary restaurant with great attention from our lady host and waiters, coats taken etc. Have say the ambience was perfect with plenty of space and a great temperature. The food was beautiful after a difficult choice of what to have from the extensive menu. I had Achari chicken and Dee had a Tawa. A really nice meal with friends in a lovely relaxed atmosphere, which would not have been possible at the planned restaurant. Thanks Tamarind for responding and rescuing our night. We loved you

Beautiful food. Very welcoming host. Set menu is good for £14 each on a weekend.

This is our 3rd time here but never again. We went on a groupon deal and given ridiculously small portions the samosa was 2 mini ones cut up into pieces on top of spicy baked beans (horrible) the mail curry dish ! Well we said we’d better eat it before it evaporates! We were treated very differently when they knew we were on a groupon deal. Service dreadful. Don’t waste your money go elsewhere.

Service is always friendly and polite. I had a chicken tawa, my mom had the new lamb chop dish. Both meals were beautiful as always. Generous portions too.

We’ve been a few times but tonight will definitely be our last . Food came out wrong food was sent back to then come out undercooked as we was on the car park ready to leave they came out accusing us of not paying the bill we had to take the receipt in to prove we had & could hear them all arguing

Fantastic curry last night and our first time eating in rather than getting a takeaway. The place is very well decorated and I love the little booths for two people. Our food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back soon.

The food was really nice, we had a table by the window for 4 of us, it was a birthday for my wife, the staff were very friendly and attentive and went the extra mile, really good value for money, we definitely reccomend this restaurant and we will be returning soon.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery, food was good however delivery took ages. 2 hours more than the time they said it will be delivered. So, if you are happy to wait for it that long then go for it .

Usually the food is excellent but this evening we waited 2 hours for a delivery which, when it came was soggy, cold and very tasteless. Food should be made when the delivery driver is ready not waiting around for the driver to arrive which obviously this evening was at least 30 minutes.

Excellent food and service. We’ve been 3 times now and the two main serving staff have been excellent at all times.

Really disappointed that an extra main meal, an extra beer, an extra wine & an extra spirit were added to our bill of a table of 4. Really felt that this was deliberate in the hope we wouldnt notice. We also waited nearly one and half hours from finishing starters to receiving mains.

Visited Tamarind with my girlfriend on the bank holiday weekend looking for somewhere to eat we just randomly took a chance on this wonderful Indian restaurant. We were hosted brilliantly by really friendly staff. The food was top notch stuff! Honestly so tasty! To the lady at the desk to the boys giving orders. They were brilliant hosts. They even gave us a free shot of Baileys at the end of our meal. Honestly can’t rate this place enough. Shame we’re not local.

We have used this restaurant throughout lockdown 2020 and after July 2021 the staff are amazing! I have never had a problem with the food. I would and have highly recommend tamarind to many other people. Best Indian in cannock x
