The most welcoming, friendly pub I have ever been to. So wish it was my local!

Fourth time we have visited this pub over the years whilst on holiday. Fabulous country setting, locals very friendly. Beer good. Food delicious. Tonight, they missed serving my husbands starter, which we said really didn't matter. However, the landlord insisted he had a free desert as compensation 😊 Thank you, Taly Ho, we will be back.

We returned 7 August to celebrate an anniversary. Mike is a brilliant host, as always, recommending 2 fabulous meals available- and they were☺️!!. Thank you Mike Don't hesitate passing Road Ahead closed signs from Totnes as it's NOT closed until Newton Abbot.

Stopped here on the way down to Slapton. We were 2 mins too late for lunch, but they very kindly made us some tasty sandwiches. Beer was good too. Welcoming, beautiful pub.

Booked a family meal on our holiday to Devon. Everyone one of us agreed it was an amazing meal and the chef deserves kudos. Combine this with the service and you understand why CAMRA rates this pub so highly.

Visited with my wife and friends for a meal and drinks. Great choice of ales, superb menu and great service. All the food is locally sourced, meat from Dart farms and fish from Brixham. The chef knows his stuff, beer is well looked after and it's a comfortable old pub, full of character with a great atmosphere. Cannot fault it.

Wow where do I start with this country pub. We came here a couple of weeks ago for a group meal, the food was fantastic, the pub was clean and the atmosphere was perfect, however one thing that stood out to all of us were the staff. The loveliest girl and owners behind the bar and doing the waiting, so helpful, cracking sense of humour and just went that extra mile to make our already fantastic evening that extra bit special, they really looked like they loved their work which was so lovely to see and says so much about this pub. We will all definitely be returning in the future. P.S highly recommend the pork cutlet!

Booked a lunch time meal at short notice. Lovely food freshly cooked, arrived at our table piping hot. Good selection of desserts. We both had a local beer which was brewed about 7 miles away which was easy on!

Popped in for a drink after a countryside walk. Very friendly staff. Lovely quaint cottage style pub with a nicely planted, part covered beer garden. Lovely place to sit and enjoy a pint in the sun. Beer garden is also fairly close to the railway, with good views for any train enthusiasts.

Fantastic food, and lots of GF options which was a very pleasant surprise. The hosts were really friendly and accommodating, was so glad we decided to stop for a quick drink!

Delicious hearty food (cassoulet, liver and onions) for a miserably wet Thursday lunchtime. Three ales all in excellent condition. Just a short walk from the bus stop (number 7 from Exeter to Totnes, runs hourly). A wonderful pub that is a credit to the community that operates it.

We chose to celebrate our quiet wedding there and upon hearing that, we were presented with a celebratory bottle of bubbly! How amazing is that! The perfect end to our lovely day! The pub has easy access for all abilities and caters for all tastes.. just can’t find fault!

Lovely old pub with wood burning fires,happy clientel,good service and delicious food! Our Sunday roasts were delictable and very reasonably priced! My husband had roasted pork with parsnips,carrots,kale, stuffing,Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes plus large dish of cauliflower cheese and perfect gravy...all this for £14!!! I,myself had the smaller portion of roast beef....with all the accompaniments as detailed before...costing only £12!! Amazingly good value and so very tasty...the best roast ever!! We shall return...many timesxxx😋🎊👏🥂🎉

Great food & Service , excellent staff .

We called into the Tallyho yesterday about 2.45. asked for some food but the owner said very nicely they had finished serving so we were happy just to have a drink. The owner said he could do a cheese and tomato 🍅 sandwich. We were so grateful. It was not just any old sandwich it was amazing. The pub is so clean and welcoming and the owners are so so friendly. Very cosy by a fire. I would recommend this pub every day if the week. A little gem in the Devon countryside.

Walked from Totnes. Has made an earlier table booking. Excellent table service, choice of menu options. A first-class lunch experience that made the return walk all the more straightforward. Would not hesitate to recommend the complete experience to others.

Quaint country pub down narrow roads and away from it all but no garden as such and it was a lovely sunny day and we were inside in a dark pub. Excellent selection of ales and drinks. I'd image cosy in the winter.

Walked in to a welcoming atmosphere and wasn't disappointed with our service or our choices of meals. Plenty of vegetarian options and we all found something tasty.

A gem of a pub, and I must go back there soon. Lovely staff, great food and probably the best kept, and best selection, of beers in any of the local pubs (and thankfully no sign of 'Doom Bar' when I last visited!)

I am absolutely out of words what to say about this pub. The food was incredible, the drinks were great. The staff were very personable and friendly. I instantly knew when I walked into this pub I was going to love it. The menu is absolutely fantastic, catering for all food types. So much variety it’s hard to just choose one! This is my favourite pub I have ever been to. Will be coming back for more.

First visit here tonight as our local The Jolly Sailor is unfortunately still fire damaged ! Friendly atmosphere.. Very clean and tidy .. Excellent fish choices on the specials board and steak was ‘proper’ meat ! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be going back with the family …

Lovely looking pub and I'm sure lovely for most. Sadly for nut allergic vegetarians stay well clear on a Sunday where option is, beef, pork or nutroast... ONLY and very confused by the idea that anything else could possibly be needed. Seemed quite put out by the idea and still charged full price for just veg saying: 'you had extra veg' one carrot obviously equals a serving of meat therefore as that was the extra! Also tried to charge for a large when delivered a small serving and didn't seem happy when challenged Hey ho not for us Meat eaters, I'm sure, will be fine. We won't bother finding what the non Sunday menu is like.

This was our second visit to this lovely venue, set off the beaten track this lovely traditional pub, provides the most fabulous food of top quality, the staff are wonderfully friendly with added bonus of owners dog Betty the Bassett hound who greeted us which was an absolute delight. I can't recommend this place high enough. Do book ahead as very popular with tourists and locals alike.

Lovely pub, wonderful service and the most amazing food. The food is simply scrumptious served in a true character, country pub with locals providing the atmosphere all good pubs need. Fantastic menu, varied and catering for everyone. Can highly recommend. The scallops were a mix of pan fried and deep fried…just delicious!

Terrible vegetarian choice nearly all cheese starters and a veg curry , if I wanted an Indian I’d go for one, always a cop out a curry or a risotto and charge the earth, for a bit of rice, these days there’s usually a vegan or vegetarian in a group, like it or not, so the vegetarian menu will be the decider if a group goes there or not, the place is very shabby also

Very happy to post a review for the Tally Ho. Unfortunately for us, having moved to the area 4 years ago, this was the first time we visited the Tally Ho, but it certainly will not be our last. We loved the ambiance of the pub itself, a place to go for either a drink with friends or a delicious meal. The food was superb, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. If you live in the area or are visiting and haven't been to the Tally Ho you should try it, you will not be disappointed. It will not be long before we return.

Great pub! Second visit and consistently excellent meals. There is a very varied menu along with a specials board. Very reasonably priced and all our meals have been delicious. The pub is very cosy and friendly, beautiful roaring fires and lovely atmosphere. We can't wait to return :)

Always a pleasure to go to this traditional old pub where good food is guaranteed. The specials board is a real treat to experience those dishes you don't see in other pubs.

First time we had been there. A really warm welcome from the Landlady and Landlord. A real country pub. Plenty of beers to choose from. We had a meal and the wife summed it up brilliantly...Wow! Very well presented and plenty of it. We shall be going back. Thanks Tally Ho!

Amazing Sunday roast!! We had a table of 10 and Mike and Kelly really looked after us all. The roast was amazing, the best ive had out in years! We visited another pub in the area a few days later but really wish we had gone back to Tally Ho, cant wait to visit again soon!!

Excellent Sunday lunch arrived just for a drink. Haven’t been for a number of years, food looked great so ordered. They found us a table service and staff were friendly and couldn’t be faulted. Will definitely be coming again.
