Tak Yan in Harrogate

I want to like this place as it's our nearest Chinese, but lovely though the people are, the food isn't up to scratch. Undercooked batter for the sweet & sour chicken and a most unusual and not very pleasant sweetness in my satay. It could be some time before I go back.

Lovely local Chinese takeaway. Used to order via deliveroo but now ordering direct as better for both them and me. Always good quality food delivered pipping hot. Highly recommend.

I am so unhappy, I wasted my money tonight and I am so hungry but I couldn’t eat the Special chow mein I bought in this restaurant, tasted so weird like it’s over fried. The food is right in front of me and I just couldn’t swallow more of it.

I drive past at least two other Chinese takeaway to get to this one. Loads of variety in the dishes, and when you order a mixture, they all look and taste different. Have had some others where dishes should have been obviously different and were not. Great food, great service and every time I have been its been really fast too!

My favourite local harrogate Chinese. Always quick and efficient service. Cash only, and cashpoint avalible a few doors down. Classic Chinese menu and everything is tasty. Highly recommend the special satay. And free prawn crackers. Always a bonus!

We have taken food out from Tak Yan for over 10 years. It has always been on of our favourite Chinese takeaways. However, we have noticed that they have started to reduce portion sizes (the ever shrinking bag of prawn crackers) and the food seems to contain less and less meat. The special fried rice used to contain lots of meat (3 plus large prawns for example) but now you are lucky to find one prawn and the pork is often processed meat and fatty. We no longer go there and now go up the road to one that provides a lot more quality and value for money. Compared to some we have visited the standard is okay but it has definitely gone down hill in an effort to make more money.

My favourite of the local Chinese takeaways. Friendly, clear staff make it easy to order over the phone. Cash on collection only at the time of writing but I believe they are on Deliveroo if you can't collect with cash.

I have used this place a few times and the recent order I received was disgusting ! Not edible for consumption by any human or Animal . I will never order from this place again. Sort your standards of food out, if you can’t even do soft noodles without burning them then there is something wrong !! Vile 🤮

Not very good food, the chowmein turned up in separate containers so had to mix it together myself, and it was dripping in a very salty sauce. The special curry was also not so good, very gloopy sauce and way to thick. No flavour at all just very salty. The chips were ok but that’s about all. Would not use again.

Go here regularly, pleased to have found a Chinese that I'm confident they are clean and the food tastes great

Thi is the first time of ordering as the reviews seemed good ? We got Cantonese battered beef and Chicken sweet and sour no meat in either !! So disappointing. Definitely would not recommend.

DO NOT ORDER ON DELIVEROO. They charge considerably more on Deliveroo vs in store. The same order in the shop was £15 vs £24 on Deliveroo. This is horrendous service.

Raw veg in the chilli honey chicken, very little chicken aswel. Duck spring rolls not cooked to through. Gravy....not gravy, more like beef stock and grease. Very disappointed.

First time ordering from tak Yan in a while. Disappointed with my meal! Chicken balls chewy and tasted not cooked all the way through, salt and pepper chips rock hard. Definitely gone downhill

By far the best Chinese in harrogate, the food is excellent and the service is always friendly and quick. I've been going there for nearly 6 years now and travels 25 minutes in harrogate for it. Salt and pepper selection is great and the satay chow main is fantastic. I just want to point out that I've been witness to 3 or 4 Deliveroo drivers picking up orders and speaking to the lovely women behind the till in a disgusting manner. If you witness this please support Tak Yan.

The best chinese in harrogate. Foods really tasteful and the service is quick. I've been going hear for years I now travel 25 minutes to harrogate just for the chinese. Chicken in black bean & broccoli is particularly good.

We always get out takeaway from Tak Yan as they consistently turn out superb quality food. We have tried most of the dishes on the menu over the years and have never had a bad meal.

Some very nice food here. Probably our favourite local take away. They don't open late though. And are currently cash only which these days is a pain. Food is always prepared exactly when they say when pre-ordered.

The menu is varied and the service is friendly and cheerful. Good portions, tasty food! I think it closes a little early so be sure to get there before 9pm.

We tried Tak Yan the other evening after a recommendation. This must be one of the best take away meals I have had in a long time. Sauces had plenty of flavour without the thick, sticky consistency of so many sauces from a Chinese restaurant. We will go back here again!

My own fault..... ordered a Thai red curry from a Chinese take away.....it was rubbish. My wife had Chinese which she said was really nice.....Moral to the story....don't ask a Chinese to cook Thai food, let them stick to what they're good at

Lovely food. Google has just asked loads of questions assuming this is a restaurant. It's a takeaway so yes you do wait, about 10 or 15 minutes. I don't know if it has toilets having not had to ask.

Siempre usamos Tak Yan. Es la mejor comida china para llevar en Harrogate y bien vale la pena el viaje de un lado a otro de la ciudad. La comida es totalmente fiable exquisitamente delicioso.

Ordenados para llevar tres veces en las últimas semanas, siempre es rápido. La comida es deliciosa; los platos de malasia decepcionantemente no eran muy malaya, pero como si para compensar, el Gambas Kung Po fue una revelación, realmente me encantó la salsa. También me gustó la sal y pimienta de calamar. Las porciones son simplemente enormes, haciendo gran relación calidad-precio!

Tuvimos una comida para llevar desde aquí el viernes pasado éramos un grupo de 7, así que llamó nuestro pedido con antelación. Todo estaba listo en media hora como prometieron, con galletas de cortesía de gambas.

Amazing Chinese Takeaway, I just wish they delivered. I love the kung po chicken, it's the best I have ever tasted, it would be even better with a few cashew nuts thrown in :)

Had lots of Chinese takeaways from Tak Yan and never been disappointed. No they might not be the healthiest option - thick sauces and I imagine very naughty - but it really hits the spot as far as Chinese takeaways go. Always great portion sizes and delicious flavours, really good value too.

Thought I would give this takeaway a go and I wish I hadn't. We had the chicken chow mien which was gloopy soggy and not nice full of msg. We also had fried rice which was also pretty unpleasant thew it all in the bin and had cheese and crackers instead. I won't be returning and I will stick to my usual Chinese takeaway in future.

This is my local Chinese. Every time I have a different dish and they've always been great. I have sampled all the Chinese takeaways in the area and this is by far the best. They can't stay open late as the council won't let them which is a shame as every time I go past it is rammed.
