I have been going to this restaurant for 30 years very friendly lovely food good service

Ridiculously small portion of food. Staff is so straightforward and rude. Looks like they are Bangladeshi not an Indians. Keep giving bad names to the Indian society. This restaurant has lost its services

Went late at night. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great friendly owner. Got the chicken curry and it was a bit salty, but my friends got a spicier version and said it was great. Portions look small but filled us up. Prices are very friendly too.

This restaurant has the smallest portions ever. The Tikka Masala with mutton tasted nice but the mutton was so chewy and fatty that I basically paid £9 for a plain curry as I didn't eat all the meat. Also, it didn't even look like a tikka masala it was bright red, instead of creamy and orange. They also serve the smallest portion of rice I've ever seen from an Indian restaurant, usually you can share between two people but this portion wouldn't even allow for one person to finish their curry. The peshwari naan was the only good part of the meal. We also ordered two fruit juices and got tiny glasses fitting for children. While dining we were the only people in the restaurant and one dish of our order was missed and we wasn't asked about the food while eating. It's as if the staff know the portions sizes and quality of the food isn't great overall.

Best Indian cuisine I have ever had! This place is an absolute gem. The service was amazing as the staff were very attentive and welcoming from start to finish. The restaurant was inviting and very well presented. We ordered a selection of dishes and each dish was bursting with flavour! I must mention again, it was the best Indian cuisine I have ever had. What impressed me even more, was everything was very well priced for the quality of food and service provided. I highly recommend Taj Mahal and will be returning many times over.

I have been using this restaurant for many years and they have always provided the best food to your table or to your door for very reasonable prices for the quality of food you receive. You can enjoy a meal at the restaurant but it's mainly a delivery service we go for. I'm a spice lover so the jalfrezi and vindaloo are my favourites. my sister loves the naga. Also pretty hot but a beautiful smokey hot. It's fantastic. Our dad always goes for the dhansak. Lambs his favourite. We all share accordingly because the food is so good. We love you Taj Mahal. A proper local business. My dad first visited in the 70's!! I look forward to many more years of your delicious food. Up the irons ⚒️

Romeo gave us great service and was very very kind. The food was also very well portioned and delicious, a great lunch deal as well! Lots of vegan/vegetarian options.

Sadly the Taj Mahal food has lost what it had from many years ago. The Chicken Tikka Masala was always excellent. Now it feels like the meat is not such good quality , the meat was hard, the sauce a little watery. Your onion bhaji's are too hot, where did that come from?? So sad to see the quality of the food go down so much. Taj Mahal you need the chefs you used to have many years ago and also use better quality meat and make a real Chicken Tikka Masala sauce.

If your looking for a great takeaway this is the place the food was lovely hot and delicious and the staff were great just want to say a big thank you to the manager I would highly recommend this restaurant

First started ordering from here during lockdown, my favourite dish is always the butter chicken and stuffed naan, the wife loves the lamb biryani, great portions, great taste and value.

Possibly the worst Indian restaurant in London mainly due to its poor management. Used to be good with the old management many years ago but with the current management it has become a disaster. Avoid at all costs. No idea about rewarding customer loyalty. Poor service. Bad health experiences with the food too. Hate to condemn a restaurant like this but this one deserves it

Our waiter Tanveer was very kind and helpful. Food was delicious and would come back again!

The mutton was under cooked in the paltter and the chicken was over cooked and chewy. The tandoori chicken was pink inside, I could have fallen sick eating. Never going to order for this place again. The delivered my order half and hour before time no wonder they didn't cook the food properly.

This was our first time with using Taj Mahal. Our food was delivered 35 minutes after ordering. It was piping hot. The meal was tasty, fresh with ample portions. The delivery man was friendly. Will definitely order again.

My husband and I always drive past this place and finally decided to try it out, seeing as he remembers this place already being here during his childhood.. We must say, we were not disappointed and have found our favourite local Indian restaurant!! Staff were very, very pleasant, the wait for our food seemed reasonable, and everything was very tasty! Not to mention that the bill came up to not even £40 and we both left with our bellies very full! Will be sure to return very soon! Keep up the good work, guys!

Ordered a take away for here for the first time food was lacking flavour! The portions were very small especially a mixed grill wouldn’t order from here again.

Best Indian we have ever tasted.

Food was meh, does not do justice to Indian food at any level. Curry was tasteless with very less gravy. A very basic dish tasted too bad. Avoid ordering from this place.

I had the worst indisn food I have ever had anywhere ever, in this particular restaurant. I have travelled all over India 3 times. My favourite dish is chicken dansak.. I don't know what these guys served me, but it was nothing like a chicken dansak at all.. I'm not a great cook, but I can make better myself.. extremely disappointing. Don't waste time or money here.

It been ages since eating here. Looking for an excellent curries the Taj Mahal it is. The food is cooked fresh with full great flavours. If you like to taste something spicy with lots of flavour try the Naga dishes.

I went there as it was part of the Streatham Food Festival. Food is delicious, not oily at all. Peshwari Nan is one of the best I've ever heard. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely keep going there in the future ana take my friends there also.

I visited Taj Mahal this evening for the first time in a while. It’s such a shame to see a beloved restaurant I’ve eaten at, on and off, for over 30 years fall so steeply from grace 😕 Nothing was easy or inviting l. Right from the phone not being answered when I called at 4.45 just to see if they are open, even though they open at 5.00 and staff were already there. Being told I’d have to book even though the restaurant was empty. Being told I couldn’t have a dish I wanted because it wasn’t on the menu even though they had all the ingredients as part of other dishes. Eventually they checked with the chief and it was made for me. Eating the meal in the sweltering heat and being told the air conditioning broke two days ago and isn’t working. The food was ok; not awful but far from exceptional and only a patch on what it used to be - the service similar. Have you ever been somewhere and felt the business was being run for them rather than the customer? That’s exactly what it felt like to me 😕 I’d love to see the Taj Mahal return to the standards it used to aspire too; food that excited and staff who wanted to help. For now though, I think I’ll keep my distance 😕

The food is delicious in this place! Loved the lamb badam pasanda, the meat was so clean and tender and the sauce was just perfect.

We working in london for a year and stayed in Streatham this was our weekly Monday evening meal and got to be honest it’s one of the nicest Indians I have had eaten from...The owner and staff were very friendly and the food just 1st class 👌

My husband got lazy and decided not to cook dinner tonight, seeing how it’s Curry week, yes it’s a thing, we decided to come to our local Indian and enjoyed a phenomenal dinner. From the starters the prawn puree really stood out and the Tikka Biryani and Lamb Rogan we’re exceptional. Can’t recommend them enough!

This place has gone downhill. I've been here since 1992. Jalfrezi used to have fresh chillies on top. Thus time there were maybe 3. Cannot fault the juicy chicken though. Waiter did not have a smile and that set the tone. Yes I recognised him from those days in the 90s. He was more friendly then

Excellent place staff are extremely polite and friendly almost gives you a welcome in-home atmosphere food is beyond delicious I have been coming here for about 25 years. I use to wait up for my Dad to come back from his night out because I knew he would stop off at this place and be getting food. And now 25 years down the line I bring my daughter here. I would recommend this place to everyone and I have done so. food is delicious and amazing and authentic and I generally just love this place. Thank you for standing strong for so many years and hopefully there's many more years ahead

We ordered a delivery last Saturday evening. Delivery was slow but then you do expect this is prime delivery time. Unfortunately the food wasn't hot. Spoke with restaurant and they couldnt have been more polite and considerate. Although the food was cold, it tasted really nice and we would definitely order from here again.

Great food, always warm on arrival, but always very late for delivery. Currently been waiting 1 hour past stated delivery time for our food. When you call up they just say "the driver is on their way"... Don't order from here if you're super hungry.

Not been there for 30 or so years. Little change! Enjoyed a light meal of juicy tandoori chicken, some rich mixed vegetables and a delicate peshwari naan. Reasonable price.

It is a small friendly restaurant. The customer service is good and the food is great.

Food was tasty and served promptly. Would order again as a takeaway but would think twice before returning to dine in whilst the decor is in current state. The ambienece was rather cold, a refurbishment would be great! We live down the road and would love to have a great cosy indian restaurant to visit regularly - really hoping Taj Mahal can take up the mantle.

Had a wonderful meal there when I lived in Streatham for a month in 2018. If we’d found it earlier in the month, we’d have gone more often!

I ordered a curry for £40 from the curry house last night. It turned up stone cold. When I asked for a new curry to be sent or money back I was told no and the manager would call me. He didn’t. So I called back the next day and have been repeatedly hung up on. I would not buy a curry from here. It was awful and the to be repeatedly hung up on when you are polity trying to explain the situation is acceptable

Awful customer service. My family arrived to a empty restaurant after making a booking. Great, you would think no long queue for food. We waited patiently for somebody to serve us nobody came. We then had to flag a waiter to take our drinks order. At this point we have now been at this restaurant for 30 minutes. 10 minutes later still no drinks and nobody has taken our food order. By now our table of 7 is getting restless. We then saw another table having there orders being taken for food, they just sat arrived. Plus we can hear takeaway orders being made. When challenged on the delayed service the waiters were rude. I would never visit that place again. We left after the rude waiter didn't apologise. Thanks for a great birthday meal.

Don't order from here if you're hungry. I was shocked at how stingy the portions were. Maybe four or five small pieces of chicken in each container. Very watery sauce. And no free poppadoms.

Two of us ate well tonight. We were quite late and the service was excellent. The decor that has not changed in 30+ years is reassuringly comfortable and warm. The prawn pooree starters were not as saucy as usual, but everything else was perfect. Ended with nice hot wipes and mint chops to finish The prices are reasonable considering the attention to detail.

Amazing food and the waiter was really helpful. Would defo recommend for curry lovers. It was amazing and I'll be back soon.

Great value and prompt service when sitting in.

Got take away from here last week, the order was prompt but sorry to say the standard was very poor, the curry dishes were tasteless, watery and vegetables completely overdone. The pilau just had a load of died luminous rice in it and there were no complimentary sauces or poperdoms like many other places provide.

My parents have been ordering from here for over 19 years and I’m yet to find a curry nicer than one from here. Great staff too

Lovely staff and delicious food. Highly recommend the bhindi bhaji and paneer shashlik (i'm a vegetarian so can't comment on the meat dishes). Best curry house in Streatham Hill!

For takeaways this place is 4 star on a good day. The let down is the delivery time. They say 1hr but turn up at 1.5hr. Their tomato based curries can be a little greasy. Overall delicious but expensive. I’ve seen the restaurant though and that needs a refurb and it’s dark. There’s never anyone in either so perhaps that’s telling about the environs. Anyway, try it.

I am quite surprised at all the good reviews this place has. My girlfriend and I wanted a quick takeaway before hitting the cinema, and found the Taj Mahal with all its rave reviews and thought - sorted! Granted, the starter of Prawn Puri was really good and spicy, the rest of the meal was a complete and utter disaster. I ordered the Lamb Naga - and what I got was a flavourless oily red broth with floaty bits. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Tikka - and what she got was something that I can only described as being possibly regurgitated by some living being - sickly pink in colour, watery, flavourless slop. Avoid at all costs.

Two hours to deliver. Not for the first time. Regular customers treated terribly. Incapable of being honest on the phone about how long it takes. Such a shame because the food can be great. Just be honest and manage expectations!

I go to this restaurant quite often as the food is fantastic & reminds me of old style indian restaurant,the food brought out on a trolly,& presented to you. Cant fault this place,as allways happy with the food & the service.

The best Chicken Naga in London (well from my experience anyway!) since discovering this restaurant, it’s quickly become my favourite curry house in London. Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent value. I highly recommend the Taj Mahal in Streatham. Keep up the great work guys!

This restaurant cooks the best dishes ever! I ordered my usual Lamb Korma with Pilau Rice and I was blown away by the exquisite effort of their presentation bought to my table! It smelt and tasted as good as it looks! Definitely recommend it! I just moved to this area and I am so happy this is my local Indian Restaurant, they will be seeing me again soon! 😜 THANK YOU!!

I have been here many times. Food is always super tasty with the meat in the curries always really succulent. Staff are polite, and it’s all great value. Only tip is to bring a jumper if it’s cold out as it can be a bit chilly

Pass this restaurant daily but never thought about exploring it as it doesn’t look particularly inviting from the outside. Recently we had dinner there for the first time and although it took a long time for the food to arrive ( while delivery drivers were coming in and taking take always) it was worth the wait. Delicious , authentic curry cooked with fresh ingredients, plenty of it and very well priced.

The restaurant is fairly small. On my latest visit on a Friday evening there were only a dozen diners. However they do a roaring take away trade. Food has always been delicious!
