Lusitania Restaurant in Lambeth

We arrived around lunch time, and quickly we got a warm reception from the waiter in charge, The place was had a really nice feel to it, great background music, we order some starters which were great, our mains were quite frankly amazing, very happy with the overall experience, will definitely recommend, and I will return asap. The restaurant is 10/10, everything’s good but we had to wait 3/4hrs for our food!

I went on a Friday night for a friend's special bday! She told me there is live music and dancing so I was quite excited. Now I should say that maybe the Saturday is better/different with the atmosphere as frankly there were zero vibes here except for what we were creating at our table. The staff are absolutely lovely though, so friendly and the food was pretty good/tasty. I had rump steak with the black beans... dessert was coconut cake - delish! So that's why it was a shame that there was no personality to the place, and the singer came on at 11pmish but he was barely audible, we didn't know he was singing until I went to the toilet and saw him with my own eyes! Singer lacked personality, or even a sense of emotion whilst singing songs like Mas Que Nada. Actually a bit of trivia here, I once interviewed the late great Sergio Mendes in Rio, and this guy was so full of energy and party vibes even at over 70 years old! Anyway, my point is Portuguese people have such warmth and a zest for life (in my experience), this singer just looked bored. Was he having a bad day? Guess will never know. Perhaps it's worth checking out this place on a Saturday night instead? It might have a better atmosphere and music to enjoy - one of the friends mentioned she once went to Lusitania on a Saturday night and the music was good. The choice is yours. The restaurant is easy to get to whether by tube Nine Elms is closest or bus 196 from Vauxhall stn bus stop G and bus 196, stop M Landsdowne it's about 3 or 4 stops from Vauxhall and less than 5 mins walk to the restaurant.

I came here for a birthday celebration and let me just say that the food was wonderful, fresh and beautifully presented. The waiters were very attentive and polite and the live music after 11pm was a bonus. Whole family danced away to the early hours of the morning. Overall the whole family had an amazing time! I recently dined at Lusitania in London, and it was a delightful experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying traditional Portuguese dishes. I highly recommend the bacalhau à Lagarero flavorful and perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive, making the evening even more enjoyable. Food of very low quality, the salad came and we had already eaten, super exaggerated price, dessert we only had two options, one of which was brigadeiro cake, but the brigadeiro was ZERO I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Recomendado por el personal del hotel, pasamos por casualidad y disfrutamos de una excelente comida. Aceitunas y pan con sardina inesperada y paté de atún hizo un excelente comienzo mientras revisaba el menú. Ambos disfrutamos de la sopa de pescado, que era realmente bisque de marisco. Las opciones de platos principales fueron carne rara de res y cerdo. De nuevo excelente. El personal era servicial amable y conocedor de la comida que elegimos. Con bebidas y café llegó a £ 40 cada uno, que pensamos que tenía buena relación calidad-precio.

One of the best Portuguese restaurants in London, beautiful environment, amazing food.

Menu is presented on an A4 paper. Waiting time is ridiculous. Food doesn't worth the money. Drinks expensive...but for London you can't expect cheap ones. If you are Portuguese like me, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. FOGE!

1 hour 40 minutes wait for food when it finally arrived after going to the bar to ask why it's taking so long. The steak was cooked well done even though we asked for medium rare . The octopus was too tough and had no texture or taste. Upon heading over to the till to settle up we received no apology and the manager still tried to charge service charge. WHAT A JOKE! If you want quality service and great food and waiter's. Go next door to A toca restaurant.

Viniendo de Portugal, la comida es una de las cosas que más extraño ahora que vivo en Londres. Lusitania me dio una prueba adecuada de casa. Nos sentamos afuera, era un espacio grande y abierto y en vinimos para una cena muy temprano, éramos los únicos afuera - pero sin embargo, no nos olvidaron. Tuvimos registros regulares para ver si todo estaba bien y si necesitábamos algo más. El pan y las aceitunas eran de estilo portugués y tenían el paté de sardinha Manno - ¡qué ventaja! Mi novio tenía una selección de carnes que estaban bien cocinadas y jugosas y mis sardinas estaban perfectamente cocinadas hasta crujientes por fuera y lo suficientemente húmedas por dentro con delicioso sabor a sal y carbón, realmente como en un día de verano portugués. La ensalada de pimiento asado también estaba delicioso. Los precios eran razonables, el servicio en el punto y la gente muy amable. Tienen DJ's y actuaciones en vivo también, así que volvería para cenar en una de esas noches para un boogy! Definitivamente volveré.

Foi excelente a nossa ida la ao restaurante! Fomos ver Portugal, embora tenhamos perdido, saimos la com uma boa impressao do espaco. Muito atrativo, familiar. O patrao, Jose foi muito hospitaleiro. Adoramos Recomendo e nao ganho nada com isso ahahah

Very poor service, 1 hour and 30 min waiting for the food that only came when I asked to pay the bill having given up on the food. Manager ignored my request to speak with him even when I said that was no longer interested on the food.

For me was a trip to memory lane. Great entertainment with music that everyone enjoy.

The place itself is well decorated, just as the presentation of the staff is relevant, the food is typical Portuguese, it has a very pleasant location. Beautiful place to dance with live music.

I was invited to a birthday party for two friends I was very disappointed with the man who served us, in addition to not paying attention to us, there were a lot of mistakes, such as having to wait almost two hours to have a dessert, with the excuse that there were other large ones to serve, as if I was to blame. The birthday cake, instead of coming lit from the kitchen, was the same excuse, I couldn't pass it in the middle of the dance floor where there was space on the tables for it to pass. They asked for rosé champagne, I brought another brand that wasn't the one they asked for Manager has to see employees better, especially at Hugo Thank you have a good time

Was a family dinner birthday to start was good normal restaurant with Portuguese bread, butter, olives etc Really disappointed with the main course serving steak off table of 30 people sending everything back because was off.. After waiting long time. Thanks

I particularly grew up in this place when it was the Britannia pub 60/70s but lived in the old property on the corner of Lands down way. I will visit this place one day. I lived in the old castle looking property 343 Wandsworth Road. Different & better times back then.

No vegan options. It’s quite embarrassing for such a big restaurant to not cater to vegetarians. Visited with a friend but would never go back.

Booked a large group lunch a few weeks ahead. The day before we walked by and noticed the venue was closed. Tried to confirn by phone, SMS, WhatsApp. All went unanswered. Was told by another venue they were closed. Walked by on the day of booking and was indeed closed. Do not book ahead. Only use as a walkin. Have dined here before and enjoyed. Never again.

Lusitania review Today I went to Lusitania restaurant , right when I entered i felt so welcome as l followed my waiter Andrade who was super nice to me. Right as I sat down he Brung out some olive for me and some warm bread with butter and pate, I ordered some chorizo for starters, which came out very quickly, and a steak which came just how I explained I wanted it, I went outside to go look around and they provide a bouncy castle for kids outside with heaters to keep you warm and a car park at the back, the toilets were clean and styled very modern. Then the restaurant filled up with people but my waiter Andrade still came to my table to ask if I need anything. As the night went by there was some music and dancing. I was very happy when I left and smiling because they made me feel so welcome. Thank you to my waiter Andrade and IM DEFINITELY GOING AGAIN! Best New Year’s Eve/ New Years I’ve ever spent!!

Venturing into Lusitania for the first time, we discovered a gem among Portuguese restaurants in the area. Its traditional charm and exquisite decor set it apart as the most beautiful of its kind. Despite a somewhat quiet Christmas Dinner atmosphere with only one other occupied table, the food lived up to its reputation—flavorful and satisfying. While the service took its time, our evening was salvaged by good company and delicious cuisine. Although not the bustling experience we expected, Lusitania still earns a recommendation for a delightful Portuguese meal.

I had octopus and I don’t think it was cooked propperly as I had the runs an hour later ..and had a propper belly ache ..don’t think I will be going back in there again

Lusitânia is probably the best Portuguese restaurant in London. Amazing food with high quality products, impecable service with a great salon and outdoor garden space.

I launched my latest book in the magnificent garden and invited a few dozen friends to the event. Most of them took the opportunity to have dinner and then dance on the dance floor with live music. All my friends congratulated me on my choice of the place. Food, facilities, atmosphere and service from the staff have all been praised by my friends. I leave here my thanks.

Went there on a week day and there were only two other tables when we walked in but it took a while before they noticed we even walked in and were waiting. The place looked quite modern and really huge - but that’s all about I can compliment unfortunately. The food quality was quite mediocre and even the olives looked like they had been sitting on a shelf for a very long time. The chorizo came on fire - but by the time they were cut into pieces, they were cold and the quality did not live up to the standard. The seafood rice for two was ginormous but again felt very much low quality. It would have been so much better if there was less seafood but fresh than a lot of it but the quality being that of frozen seafoods. The waiting staff initially was trying hard to please, but at the end he was shouting at another younger staff in front of us and other customers, and that did make us feel a little uncomfortable. Maybe this place has better days (given how many good stars it seems to have) but ours was definitely not the experience of that high star rating.

Went on Saturday for a birthday celebration. Service was slow. Ordered a steak expecting sauce… well had to ask for mayonnaise cause it was bone dry! As it would have taken another 20 minutes to get sauce!! Came with salad but the salad never appeared. When I asked them to take the service charge off the bill the waiter got upset! Be attentive and you will get service charge. The restaurant was empty! So good service is expected. Not a great 1st time experience and will not be going back nor recommending.

I like the idea of dinner and traditional dancing afterwards ;-)) However I wouldn’t classify the food as exceptional- but still it was good; bread was definitely delicious, but I definitely ate much better fish soups. I didn’t like clearing our tables when we just went for a dance and left half cups full on the table or charging for a 2 coffees instead of one (( But the idea is great. ))

Péssima experiência fui mal atendida ao telefone, mesmo com reserva ficamos as voltinhas,nossa reserva não existia no restaurante. Serviço péssimo, um chá de cadeira à espera de uma garrafa d’água. 4 empregados de mesa e nenhum sequer foi a mesa perguntar se precisávamos de algo ou se tínhamos tudo o que foi pedido, um item pedido veio errado e não nos foi oferecido solução, tive que pedir pra me trazerem o item que foi pedido. Péssimo péssimo péssimo, nunca la volto. Vim de longe para a primeira experiência em um restaurante português em Londres, foi a pior que já tive. Eu trabalho em hospitalidade e vi que o local e desorganizado e com péssimo atendimento.

A great place to spend a Saturday night.

Lovely busy place with huge portions! We shared five starters between two and that could have easily fed four people. The waiting staff were super friendly. We arrived quite late without a booking and fortunately we were squeezed in. Will definitely be returning.

Used to be one of my favourite places to meet my daughters who live near this restaurant. Menu changed used to be quite rustic ie lamb chops and homemade chips.Now menu more upmarket and much more expensive.Kids chicken and chips for my 2yo grand daughter was £13.50 plus service charge.Thas fine for me but can't imagine many young mums paying that. Service was good as always but I will prob start using the Portuguese next door which is more traditional Portuguese now and more value for money

Closed on Monday. This place was called the britannia several years ago. Great food and no-nonsense service. Note - dont forget that a service charge is added to your bill which we did not mind paying as it was £6 for the 3 of us. Anything more than this and we would ask for a revised bill. You won't be disappointed. Still great with limited off street parking around the back of the restaurant

Booked a table through email, received an email confirming the booking. When I got there they were being sarcastic because we were too many and they didn’t know we were coming… Super rude the entire time rolling their eyes at us all the time… We were the only ones there and the food took ages to come

Booked a table through Quandoo. Reached the restaurant and tried to be chased away rude staff telling us that we need another text message after the email that we received. Not on the terms and conditions of booking. No sense at all trying to justify their words. Given a table after I was upset but the mood has changed over some unprofessional customer service. Will never visit this restaurant again. Went to AToca next door instead.

We were hugely impressed with the customer service and attention to detail at this local restaurant. The food portions were tasty (and huge) and the cocktails were properly made. The restaurant is also well maintained and you dont expect it to look so good inside from the street. We will be back. The only thing I would change is making sure the doors to the smoking area automatically close as sometimes people forget to close it when they go out and cigarette smoke comes back into the seating area.
