I had one of the best takeaways of my life from here, delivered to a wet and windy campsite one night. It was heavenly, every dish was licked clean. 10 months later we live here, had another go and it was okay. Still one of the better Indian takeaway options though. 0 for atmosphere as I've never been in. Kinda looks grim driving past 😁

This Indian restaurant is ok. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. I ordered a lamb vindaloo and there was literally 3 small pieces of lamb and a big piece of potato in the vindaloo. This is unacceptable!!! If they are serkng lamb vindaloo sauce they need to state this on the menu or lower the price of the "lamb Vindaloo"

We visited on a Saturday evening without a booking but were welcomed and accomodates. This was particularly helpful as we had an almost 2 year old with us! The food took almost an hour to arrive but it was very well made and delicious! Everything we ordered (vegetarian dishes) was tasty! Would definitely recommend the place. But would strongly recommend to book in advance, on a weekend particularly!

During me and my partners Evening meal to the Taj Mahal In Haverfordwest our visit was greeted well and well presented. When sat down we were offered drinks which we were satisfied. When asked what meal would you like, me and my partner wanted a main meal and no starters which you can completely have with no issue. On this occasion the gentleman serving us refused that we must have something else on the menu as a main course to have and a starter. I asked him please can I have a plain korma because she is a vegetarian he said we do not do plain korma. But on the menu it clearly states that they do, not just vegetarian food but plain Korma and tikka sauces. After a discussion and disagreement, the gentleman wouldn’t give us the meal we wanted and forgot the tikka dish that I asked for. The waiter was extremely rude and didn’t understand us at all. The meal had to have a starter which would have cost over £30. Other people in the restaurant had a similar issue hope this will be resolved soon.

Second takeaway we’ve had from the Taj Mahal, and it was fantastic again. Certainly the best Indian restaurant in Haverfordwest, and as good as any other I’ve been to in the U.K. Chicken had a lovely texture, and the sauces were a nice consistency and full of flavour. Staff are always pleasant and the orders have been correct both times. Although I’ve not eaten in the restaurant, from what I see it has a nice atmosphere and is well laid out so that the tables aren’t on top of each other. We are hoping to eat in soon when we can get some childcare! Thanks again Jimmy

Ce restaurant est une fantastique découverte. On choisit d'abord quel plat principal on veut déguster : poulet, mouton, crevette, etc.

Ordered a takeaway over the phone for collection. Everything was repeated back to me as I said it. Collected the order and drove it home 15 mins away without checking it (it wasn’t a massive order, so expected it to all be there). Got it home and 1 main dish was missing, 3 rice instead of just 2 and one dish was too spicy to be eaten, even though it was requested to be not at all spicy and “not spicy” was written on the lid. Also couldn’t rationalise what I’d been charged with prices on the menu and what we actually received.

After having a few poor services here we left coming here for a while. However, tonight was excellent with attentive service and super food. Slight issue when the bill came as they tried to charge me for the curry sauce to go with my byriani as I asked for a different sauce to the one that comes with it. They did not inform us of the charge but when questioned removed the price of the sauce. We will be back as the quality and standard of the food here is excellent and I eat in many different Indian restaurants and feel I have a good idea of what is a decent curry. No alcohol served on site and soft drinks are a little expensive. They are more than happy for you to bring your own alcohol though.

My husband and I attended the restaurant on Saturday evening at 7pm for our Anniversary meal. We have had many meals there over several years and have always had good food/service. However, on this occasion, as soon as we walked in through the door, I felt there was something very different - either under new management - but definitely not the same atmosphere as before. We were greeted at the counter by a lady and shown to our table by a sole waiter who was young and seemed to be rushed off his feet as the restaurant became busier. We ordered our food and the poppadums/pickle tray arrived soon after - along with our drinks (Cokes) - which were "flat". We then waited for an absolute age for our main courses to arrive - initially being bought the wrong food order! Later, our main courses arrived in dribs and drabs - part of my main course was on the table for at least fifteen minutes before the rice and naan breads arrived. By that time, my main course was getting cold and when I eventually ate it, it was nothing like previous meals I had enjoyed at the restaurant. Also, the naan breads were much smaller in size than we had previously been served - mine was not cooked and was "doughy" so I returned it. Minutes later, I was bought a naan bread which was cut into triangles and I was told a fresh one had been cooked for me, which was hard to believe, given the short time it had taken to arrive after taking the uncooked one back. My husband's meal was also very poor - not much meat in the tandoori mixed grill he had ordered and the chicken was tough - the majority of his meal was left on his plate as he failed to eat it. Ages later and no sign of the sole waiter taking our plates away, my husband went to the counter and ordered two coffees with cream. We waited so long for them to arrive I thought they must have gone to Brazil for the coffee!!! When it eventually arrived at our table in coffee glasses, the coffee looked like dishwater which was swirling around in the glasses topped with squirty cream and looked extremely unappetising. They were, and I could not drink mine after taking a sip of it which tasted like very bitter, gone-off coffee flavoured water!! To summarise, a very disappointing but expensive meal which we failed to eat. Sadly, we will not be eating at this restaurant again.

The Taj used to be a good, busy restaurant. You had to book ahead to reserve a table and when phoning to order a takeaway, the staff would always provide a realistic time for collection. This is no longer the case. Several weeks ago, my wife and friends booked a table to celebrate a birthday. On arrival there were only three other tables occupied, so not busy for a weekend. When ordering drinks they were surprised to learn that alcoholic drinks were not available, but they could bring their own. This information should have been provided at the time of booking. After receiving their soft drinks, the waiter was prompted to take their food order. The response was that their food was on its way! They had to repeat the request twice to enable an order to be placed. Although the food was okay, the lack of atmosphere and general poor service detracted from the celebration. This weekend we ordered a takeaway and advised it would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived and paid at the 30 minute point, anticipating my food would be ready in the next 10 minutes or so. There were no diners in the restaurant and 4 people waiting for their takeaways. Not at all busy for a Saturday. Over the next 30 minutes the one person taking orders was answering 2 phones simultaneously and advising that takeaways would be ready within 30 minutes. Not a truthful statement. Slowly, those who were waiting received their orders, but on checking the contents of the bag, discovered items were missing. No attempt was made by the staff to keep food warm while the missing items were sourced. After waiting over 30 minutes, I asked when my food would be ready. I received a dismissive answer, so I requested my order to be cancelled and a refund. Within minutes my food was provided, but I doubted whether it was exactly as ordered. It had taken one hour and 10 minutes to receive, not the 30 minutes advised. On returning home my family were disappointed by the late arrival of their food and unsurprisingly, missing items. In summary, I would assess this once successful restaurant is being allowed to fail. If it does not close, my family and friends will not be wasting money in the Taj Mahal, Haverfordwest, until we become aware of an improvement. Caveat emptor.

Visited tonight with two friends to celebrate a birthday. We ordered poppadoms and pickles as a precursor to the mains, all lovely, but did not know they didn't serve alcohol until we were informed we could only order soft drinks, which we did. We had to ask to have our order taken, but the food was delicious and we all enjoyed our meal. The staff were fine, it wasn't a busy night, so the staff were very helpful. I would recommend the Taj Mahal, because I've had many lovely meals there over the years, but if I'm brutally honest, I'm afraid this time around there was very little ambiance and the 'bring your own' alcohol policy wasn't relayed to us when booking, so was a disappoibtment. That, said our food was tasty and well cooked.

Waited a week now for some response after giving Taj Mahal an opportunity to address my poor meal last week, even rang a second time to chase feedback...nothing. Too many times we are quick to slate companies on reviews and I wanted to be fair on the basis of " If you enjoy our food, tell others and if not tell us" We spent £34 for two of us... the usual kind of food Our pickle tray only had 3 pots of the same dip... a pink sauce...no lime, mango or onion cucumber. The onion bhaji starter (4 small balls) was really the worst ever. old tough and stale and to add insult to injury there was another one in the measly mixed grill starter that also contained 2 chicken and 2 lamb tikka pieces. The Madras curry I had was very watery and nothing other than this runny sauce and pieces of tikka. My wife's Lamb saag was fine at best but she had already refused any based on the fact that the bahjis were so bad she had been put off anything else. The cheese and keema nan was also bad... Black burnt cinders that crunched in your teeth and really had no flavour. After my first call back on the same night In a typically British apologetic conversation I said that I would be happy to drive back to show them my food and they explained it was not necessary and that they had a different tandoori chef on.... I didn't ask for a refund but suggested maybe a credit note towards a replacement for the bad items so that we may try another time.... sadly no reply has meant this review...

Lovely food, shame about the service. We arrived at 17:06 for a 17:30 booking to be told we were too early which is fair enough as they were still opening up. When we returned at 17:30 we informed the man we were 6 people (our original booking had been for up to 8) he made quite the fuss as he thought it was for five of us. When we went into the restaurant, there were no tables set for five peoplre, only 4 or 6, which confused us... The Chap in charge wasn't very friendly and made us feel like we were a total invconvenience, snapping at us that he'd need the table back by 7. The food however was really good, nice authentic curry in classic silver trays. I had a chicken tikka biryani with peshwari nan and chips and it was as good as any I've had. The popandoms were warm and fresh also. We finished up by half 6 to be sure to give the table back for 7 only to end up waiting alnost 30 mins for the bill... We paid promptly when the waitress arrived only for the Chap in charge to come over and rudely tell us we should be gone by now it's gone 7. Maybe if you'd taken some time to actually attend our table (1 of 3 with people on) out of atleast 6 or 7, Then You would have had the table by 7 when you wanted. Food was 4 out of 5 Service 3 at best. Have a word with the guy in charge, seemed a bit highly charged ...👃❄️

You might be ripped off. Please ask a waiter to give you a breakdown of the price. You might find you have been charged more than you ordered. The waiter charged me £38 and some pence first. Then very generously "rounded it down" to £34. But I did not think I ordered food worth £34. I paid fully first but when I was leaving the restaurant, I asked him to let me know the price of each item I ordered. It turned out the total was £30. By the way, I saw he rounded down the price to one other customer. I do not know what it means. The key to avoid being ripped off is remember / write down the prices of the items you order. If they did this to 20 customers everyday, it would be about £100 a day, ££2,500 a month.

The food here is of outstanding quality. I have certain dietary requirements being lactose intolerant and the staff were very helpful. If we didn't live over 200 miles away we would definitely be regular visitors to this excellent restaurant .

On a night out we were let down by a local pub restaurant so we called and had a reservation within 30mins and we were told we could bring our own beers. The food was of a really high standard and prices were reasonable. The young lady behind the bar who also brought our food and made sure everything went smoothly was an absolute credit to this establishment. Probably one of the best front of house staff I have met. Only slightly let down by the toilets being blocked on arrival.

Fabulous food. The range of dishes on the menu is excellent and the descriptions of them are very helpful. We got just the types of curry we wanted. The service was also very fast and attentive.

I found our curry that we had delivered was very bland and it was like eating a microwave meal. The order was sent wrong. The best part of the meal was the popperdoms but they didn't send any mango chuckny. Will not be ordering again. Wasn't worth the money paid.

Very upset after having lovely meal. Receptionist girl treated us as a thief. On the way out at the till when we wanted to pay the bill, the "girl" asked us did we ordered any drink and papadoms. We said no. We just ordered main meal. Then she asked her colleague again in front of us did she served any papadoms and drink. I felt like I am a liar and theif. Who will lie for 1 or 2 papadoms and a glass of coke? Food was lovely. But staff in the reception ruined our day. I did not said anything, just put my head down and come out....Will not visit ever again.....

It is a lovely restaurant, staff friendly. Food was really good, until I found a hair in my food. Surely kitchen staff should wear nets over their hair.

We had a takeaway from Seven Spice - Kilgetty (14/11/24) whilst staying locally in a holiday lodge… We were very impressed with the quality of the food, the curries were cooked fantastic and were very tasty. There was plenty of chicken within the curry and overall, they exceeded our expectations. We ordered the following items from the menu, which apparently included a 10% discount for collection. I couldn’t confirm this as the website hasn’t got any prices alongside their menu to compare. Chicken Tikka Masala £10.95 Chicken Korma £8.95 Keema Rice £4.25 Garlic Naan £3.50 Keema Naan £ 3.50 Chips £2.95 3x Poppadoms £2.10 Chutney Tray £1.95 We would 100% return for another takeaway when visiting the area again!

When we first glanced at the menu at Hot Chilli, things looked promising. The dishes sounded exciting, and our expectations for a flavourful Indian meal were set. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving, and sadly, this was truer than we could have imagined. We started with three popadoms and a selection of five chutneys. A decent opener, but sharing between me and The Bald (my husband’s affectionate moniker) was where the excitement ended. What followed was a culinary comedy of errors—except no one was laughing. I ordered the Special Makhani, a dish with a thick almond-based sauce that was less “special” and more “culinary sludge.” Both the chicken and lamb were dry, with the texture of reheated leftovers, and the prawns—well, let’s be honest—they were frozen shrimp masquerading as seafood. The sauce lacked depth or spice, and the dish was as bland as a beige carpet. The keema naan was similarly disappointing—mostly dough, with just a whisper of keema meat hiding somewhere in the folds. The Bald’s Chicken Balti was a spectacle in its own right. Upon its arrival, his verdict was swift and unforgiving: “It looks like dog sh*t.” Harsh? Perhaps. Accurate? Tragically, yes. The balti was a sad, gloopy brown mess with bits of what might have once been skewered chicken, now reduced to dry lumps. There were no vegetables to add interest, just thick, claggy sauce. His pilaf (pilau) rice turned out to be a packet of basmati tossed in a frying pan with oil—a culinary shortcut that fooled no one. By the halfway mark, we both surrendered. The food was unbearable, and we’d lost the will to persist. When the lady came by for a “check-back,” The Bald asked about the lack of peppers in his balti, only to be met with a shrug. Later, the chef emerged, proudly presenting a jar of Patak’s Balti spice mix as his culinary inspiration. A jar. Out of a jar. In what world is this acceptable for a £45 meal? To his credit, the chef knocked £5 off the bill, rounding it to £40, and offered complimentary coffees. But by this point, we wanted nothing more than to leave and never return. He also made vague promises about what he’d do “next time,” but let’s face it—Hell has a better chance of freezing over than us coming back. The restaurant itself was tired, with flaking paint and a general sense of neglect. We didn’t dare check the bathrooms—our trust in the establishment was already rock bottom. In conclusion, Hot Chilli is a lukewarm mess. For a meal that lacked authenticity, flavour, or even basic culinary effort, this was an insult to the proud tradition of Indian cuisine. If you’re considering spending your hard-earned money here, don’t. We’ve done the hard work for you. Final rating: One bald head out of five. Save your appetite—and your dignity.
