We went for a buffet here and I am just taken back by the dishes they had. Barely an appetizer. The Tikka masala had no taste. Their mix veg pakora was like they took left over veggies and fried them. I went here 5 years ago and didn’t like it then. Went back hoping for a do over and it got even worse. Tasteless!!

We try to make the trek to this restaurant annually due to it being almost an hour away for us. This was the first time, since the pandemic, that the buffet was available so we tried that. Was a good price for the food that is offered. Was thinking they'd have butter chicken but they did not have it for the buffet. Have to admit I was happy not to see it since it's the most commonly ordered dish it seems, but unhappy because I wanted to try it and have told myself I'll never order it lol. Also wished they had the garlic naan but fresh naan was tasty. Multiple chicken dishes and a vegetable only dish too. A dream buffet would have one item of each protein they have! Too bad that'd be too costly... Overall, the buffet was tasty, foods were restocked often and had a nice variety. Had 3 types of desserts the day we went too. Think it's a weekend only thing though so plan accordingly.

Food and atmosphere were fine but when I get ready to pay, the server comes over with a machine and it forces you to pick a tip option while they stand there watching what you pick. I still tipped but it’s kinda uncomfortable and pushy to make the customer pick a tip option while they are holding the machine in their hand, at your table, looking at what you will select. I won’t be going back until they just leave the bill like a normal restaurant.

When we first glanced at the menu at Hot Chilli, things looked promising. The dishes sounded exciting, and our expectations for a flavourful Indian meal were set. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving, and sadly, this was truer than we could have imagined. We started with three popadoms and a selection of five chutneys. A decent opener, but sharing between me and The Bald (my husband’s affectionate moniker) was where the excitement ended. What followed was a culinary comedy of errors—except no one was laughing. I ordered the Special Makhani, a dish with a thick almond-based sauce that was less “special” and more “culinary sludge.” Both the chicken and lamb were dry, with the texture of reheated leftovers, and the prawns—well, let’s be honest—they were frozen shrimp masquerading as seafood. The sauce lacked depth or spice, and the dish was as bland as a beige carpet. The keema naan was similarly disappointing—mostly dough, with just a whisper of keema meat hiding somewhere in the folds. The Bald’s Chicken Balti was a spectacle in its own right. Upon its arrival, his verdict was swift and unforgiving: “It looks like dog sh*t.” Harsh? Perhaps. Accurate? Tragically, yes. The balti was a sad, gloopy brown mess with bits of what might have once been skewered chicken, now reduced to dry lumps. There were no vegetables to add interest, just thick, claggy sauce. His pilaf (pilau) rice turned out to be a packet of basmati tossed in a frying pan with oil—a culinary shortcut that fooled no one. By the halfway mark, we both surrendered. The food was unbearable, and we’d lost the will to persist. When the lady came by for a “check-back,” The Bald asked about the lack of peppers in his balti, only to be met with a shrug. Later, the chef emerged, proudly presenting a jar of Patak’s Balti spice mix as his culinary inspiration. A jar. Out of a jar. In what world is this acceptable for a £45 meal? To his credit, the chef knocked £5 off the bill, rounding it to £40, and offered complimentary coffees. But by this point, we wanted nothing more than to leave and never return. He also made vague promises about what he’d do “next time,” but let’s face it—Hell has a better chance of freezing over than us coming back. The restaurant itself was tired, with flaking paint and a general sense of neglect. We didn’t dare check the bathrooms—our trust in the establishment was already rock bottom. In conclusion, Hot Chilli is a lukewarm mess. For a meal that lacked authenticity, flavour, or even basic culinary effort, this was an insult to the proud tradition of Indian cuisine. If you’re considering spending your hard-earned money here, don’t. We’ve done the hard work for you. Final rating: One bald head out of five. Save your appetite—and your dignity.

The food here was by far the most bland Indian food I have ever eaten. The Dal Makhani was near inedible, and the lamb biryani had barely any flavor at all. The only saving grace was that the lamb itself was tender and well cooked. Otherwise, there was nothing positive here. I love Indian cuisine. I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants around the area, and other cities. I only mention this to preface that my experience here has nothing to do with not knowing what to expect. What I expect from Indian food: a wonderful blend of spices and smells that make your taste buds sing. What we got here was more like unseasoned thanksgiving turkey. A part of me wonders if the food here is catering to a unique audience, because I cannot believe in my heart than any actual lover of true Indian cuisine could enjoy this pale imitation.

If you have food allergies, please, please, please be careful. My partner has a mild nut allergy and has eaten the chicken tikka masala here several times without issue . For that reason, she assumed it was safe and got it tonight without alerting the waiter. For whatever reason, presumably an accident, cashews ended up in her food (cashews are not an ingredient, according to the menu). We discovered this when she began having a reaction and brought it up to the waiter who did not seem too concerned. I raised this issue with the manager who seemed to dismiss me and echoed the waiter's sentiment of "you should have told us before hand". Even giving them benefit of the doubt that this was just a horrible accident this was dangerously reckless food preparation. We very much loved the food here, but won't be back because its simply not worth the risk.

ZEERA: noun /ˈdʒiːrə/ /ˈdʒiːrə/ (also jeera) [uncountable] (Indian English) cumin (= the dried seeds of the cumin plant, used in cooking as a spice) Ok so I’ve been mispronouncing my newly discovered gem. I prefer buffets for one simple reason. To sample ethnic cuisine so that when going to dine In, I don’t need the waitress to identify and describe the menu so that we may order. The hostess is warm and hospitable. The waitresses are very polite and attentive. The food is delicious. I took my grandson (11) to lunch and near the end of our visit, he leaned back in his seat, raising his arms and was about to acknowledge that his belly was satisfied “ No ho Darling, we don’t do that in public, as I fail terribly at holding in my laughter. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The prices are fair. The one complaint I might have had was resolved - during my last visit I noticed that we’re now able to order from the buffet - TO GO. All I can say is I’ve eaten at several Indian restaurants and this is definitely on my top three. So if you’re in the area and can’t make up your mind - Try ZEERA (pronounced j) and tell em Ice sent you.

I am furious after my experience at Hot Chilli in Fishguard. I handed over nearly £20 for a takeaway curry, and what I got was a disgrace. This wasn't food.. It was tasteless, watery crap. It was so watery, I could've drunk it with a straw, and the tiny bits of dry chicken floating in it were an absolute insult. How the hell can so-called professionals mess up a curry this badly?? It’s unbelievable! I feel completely ripped off and insulted. This place is a joke, and I’m beyond pissed off. Stay away from Hot Chilli if you value your money, your time, and your taste buds. I’ll never set foot near this place again!

Picked up a takeaway and it was awful. Did not taste freshly cooked, more like a supermarket own brand out of a jar. Overpriced rubbish, i feel sorry for the people of lovely Fishguard as this is their only "curry" house. The worst curry of our 60 years on this planet. Sadly it all (vinegar smelling chapattis included) went in the bin.

Honestly, I really hate leaving negative feedback but my experience was so disappointing. I ordered Tikka Masala with Mahi, samosas, and garlic naan through Door Dash. My order was missing the samosas, not sure what happened but Door Dash gave me a credit so no big deal. The Tikka Masala was so runny, bland, and just not good. It honestly tasted like lightly seasoned fish water. It's like the recipe was made incorrectly but looking at other reviews and their photos... nope, that's their recipe. The garlic naan looked the kind you buy in the bread section of the grocery store... obviously not homemade. Super disappointed and a waste of $30.

We've been going to Zeera for years and have enjoyed it, but this last visit left a sour taste (2/23). We were there with friends and appeared to be the last patrons there. The waitress seemed none too happy to wait on us, but the service was good as usual. However, when 9:00pm rolled around someone from the back asked for dishes and our waitress grabbed all 4 of our waters (fingers down in the glasses) so there was nothing left on the table. We checked the time and it was 9:02. I get that you want to close, but that doesn't mean you make the people who are left in the restaurant feel uncomfortable. It had the feeling like there was no adult running the place. And I'm serious when I say that the waitstaff was out the door right behind us. Just seemed ridiculous.

It is important to let all Americans know that what you get here is not true authentic Indian food (rather nowhere near it). The waitress was very sweet and helpful with choosing something for a first timer. But during dinner I noticed a bug on the wall under the from window, that I thought maybe was a fly that came in the door. But 10 minutes later there was a ROACH on my table! And we got the waitress over who saw it herself and then immediately got the manager The manager was completely aware of the roach problem and said that they did have pest control. Then she left. Later came back and offered to comp one meal. I was pretty calm despite feeling sick to my stomach about all of this. hello. we were staying in Newport fir a week and the last night we decided to hsve an odisn as a treat for us. we spent 39.00 something which in the current climate is a lot of money..anyways the first thing o had to wait longer than I was told, I appreciate ur busy but I should have been told a more accurate time. The second thing I couldn't find the barjes, as normally barjes are round. I phoned and firstly I was told I'd have a refund then told to pop in, I said I would the next day, I didn't as its 20 minute away and was busy with other stuff. anyways we found the barjes, however they were disguising and hard the korma hardly had any meet in it anx the maylain which i had ordered was like a korma. I've had a maylian many times, this was not a maylian, which i feel I was given a korma on the pretense that I wouldn't know. my guests didn't eat there's as it was bad,and put then off, the chips, which were fries were hard. very disappointed with all of it. finally not that u expect extra but with nearly 40 pounds not even a popdom. I will not be returning or recommend u again. just so u know. I will put review online too

Food was tasty. Service was very chaotic. There were not enough front of house staff on duty and the one that was on duty was prioritising taking take away phone orders rather than taking the orders for the tables waiting to be served in the restaurant. We waited close to 25 mins for a member of staff to come and take out drinks order.

Excellent service and food. Restaurant was reasonably busy, takeaway was very busy - it was only a Monday evening! We turned up on the off chance and got a table for 5. They have soft drinks but if you want alcohol bring your own. Great meal, will return.

This place is amazing. Really wonderful food and friendly service. Busy in a Wednesday evening. Best curry we've had in years.

Me and Partner are here in Fishguard for two weeks and we really fancied an Indian. Hot chilli is the only Indian in Fishguard so we went and booked a table. We were a little late, my partner apologised but it wasn't a problem. So we sat down wad greeted by a lovely man (Forgot his name) very chatty 😂. He looked after us and all the people dining. We where then told we can bring our own alcohol ( me and my partner thought wow, how bizarre!) So we did the honorable thing and brought some cobras 🤣. We tucked into the poppadoms and chutneys ( I love tamarind sauce ) was so tasty! Did have slight issues with the order but that wad rectified within minutes. All in all lovley place, lovely staff and will be back. Thankyou for the laughter and even tastier food. 👍🏻🫶

The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Even moved us to a corner away from a later reservation so it would be quieter. It was fantastic, I highly recommend

I found this place to be a Joke.I went after reading reviews on Google, but obviously those reviews came from people who have not had a proper made Indian meal . Never been to a India restaurant where they have run out of onion bargi at seven o'clock in the evening.Cooking was so bad, the worst I've had.To top it all no drink licence either . Honestly save your money.

This is one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. The owners greeted us when we entered, they were both polite and friendly. We were given time to choose from the menu, our food was cooked and served quickly. The nan bread was amazing, along with everything else. I highly recommend and we will definitely go back next time we're in Fishgaurd.
