We have been to many Indian restaurants around the world and this restaurant by far has been the BEST !! The food was authentically amazing , the service was excellent and the ambiance was great. When I visit the UK again, they will be on my list.

We are reasonably regular visitors to this little gem of a curry restaurant. The service is always excellent, the staff cannot do enough for you and are incredibly friendly. Food is delicious and freshly prepared. Our absolutely favourite curry place for eat in or take away. Do yourself a favour and give it a go - you won't regret it.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Crawley, it might not be the cheapest, but the quality of the food deserves the small premium one pays. Without fail every dish we had tonight was well presented, well cooked and very tasty indeed. If you have not tried the Taj, do give it go, you will not be disappointed.

The food is exceptionally good, everything was served piping hot. The favours were excellent and level of spice as per the menu. The chicken pieces were succulent and tender - unlike some other local restaurants where quality of meat seems to be of secondary importance to price. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was a very good evening.

With its own parking, it’s a great restaurant in Crawley. Deep flavours in the Tiger Prawn balti and the King Prawn jalfrezi. Attentive and friendly service without being overbearing. The Tarka Dhal is worth a mention as well!

My first time in this restaurant and the food was amazing .great value for money and fantastic service . The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean including the toilets. The staff take great pride in what they do . The only downside was it was very cold inside no heating but then if your eating curry you don’t need heating . I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a very warm welcome from the owner. The service was very good and the food came promptly. We had poppadoms and dips with Karahi chicken and Pilau rice which was excellent quality. The restaurant felt classy with a friendly atmosphere.

My wife snd I had a fantastic meal herd this week. The beer was icy cold, the food was superb, every dish we had was well presented, well cooked and very tasty. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed and the prices were reasonable. In my opinion the Taj is the best Infian restaurant in town, and we can't wait to come back again.

For no good reason, we had never eaten here despite driving past for many years. We went last evening and had an extremely enjoyable evening. Had the food delivered from here via the just eat app and found that the chicken tikka masala was actually doing a very good impression of a chicken korma - rung the restaurant to be told we had ordered through just eat so deal with them.. that doesn’t get my wife her main so I re ordered her main and 2 sides again.. same thing! What arrived was not a masala but something rich in coconut and with the texture of a korma.. rung the restaurant only to be told I don’t know what I’m talking about….. I know the difference between a korma and a masala and know that creamy and full flavoured coconut is not a masala.. it was sickly and sweet and not what I have had hundreds of times before… Terrible food/terrible service

AVOID THIS PLACE!! The food was excellent. Received the bill. Asked for the service charge to be removed (as per our company guidlines). Paid and asked for a revised receipt. The receipt that came had a different value. Explained that we require a receipt that matches with the payment made. This turned into a tirade of abuse. Telling us "to go an English restaurant next time". Shouted at by numerous members of staff again and again. Even after trying to explain our reasoning, which fell on deaf ears. Absolutely shocked at the attitude and behaviour of the staff. Never have I experienced treatment like this in any establishment ever!! Safe to say, I won't be dining there ever again. The service is as much, if not more important than the quality of the food. AVOID THIS PLACE!!

I am currently sat in the Taj Mahal restauraunt. I had a Chicken Dansak and side dishes, garlic bread, poppadoms, chutney, and mint sauce dips. Amazing Indian food. The restaurant has a 1st class feel to it. The plates, cuttlery and glasses are all spotless. All the staff are very polite and friendly. Highly recommendeded.

I've been here many times over the years, and I honestly believe this is the best local curry. Very good food (although warning: the hot dishes are very hot). The service is always great too. I travel over from East Grinstead to eat here, as the food is so much better at Taj Mahal.

I try and visit this restaurant at least quarterly, as in my opinion, it is the best Indian Restaurant in Crawley. The food tonight was just perfect, nice and hot, and full of flavour, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. This restaurant never fails to impress.

Taj Mahal has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Crawley for years. Been eating here since 2010. Can't recommend it enough. Great service and great food. Just finished a chicken vindaloo which could melt the paint off your walls, seldom felt more alive. 5/5 stars.

First time to the Taj Mahal Crawley with two of my friends. The food was very average especially the chettinad style curry. It is super expensive.And the highlight is service charge 10 % on top of the bill. I would NOT recommend Taj Mahal Crawley who really want to try Indian any one.

The restaurant was busy for a Weds evening we had a table for 4 at 7.30 and were seated promptly.Service; drinks taken by a lovely waitress wearing a mask who brought drinks immediately The menu was produced by a hovering non-masked waiter, we noticed the inflated price hike but by then hungry and settled we proceeded to order. When the food arrived the portions were smaller than they used to be, slightly colder than they should be. Without grumbling noting to ourselves not to return we then saw the service charge added!!!! nearly £17 was added to the bill The whole idea about the eat-out deal is to get people out and about returning to their once favorite restaurants again in support. The Taj Mahal has been greedy they have taken the government funding, increased their prices, downsized their portions, and added a high percentage service charge, this is a win-win for them and I am sure that the Government did not intend for this highwayman approach. Won't be back sorry but Crawley does have a lot of restaurants to choose from.

We visited the Taj Mahal on 25th August for dinner. We'd not been before but, seeing the good reviews and taking advantage of the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme we decided to give it a try. The look of the place is very pleasant. Nice clean table linen, sparkling glasses, all very good. It was a good start. We looked at the drinks menu and were a little shocked at the prices. £6.50 for a Cobra beer and £5.25 for a 175ml house Sauvignon Blanc. However, prices can vary so we ordered a beer and a glass of wine.We ordered our food and I chose the Tandoori King Prawn starter and my husband went for the Vegetable Samosas. For mains I ordered the Chicken Karahi which was listed as a Medium to Strong spiced dish. I asked the waiter if it was possible to have this dish but 'Mild' spiced and he said of course, that would be okay. My husband ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. We had a mushroom rice and a Bombay Aloo side plus 2 papadums with chutneys.We had our popadums and chutneys which were okay, nothing special but also nothing wrong here.When the starters arrived I was rather surprised to see two prawns on the plate with a tiny amount of salad. The cost of the starter was £8.95 so £4.47 per prawn! My husband got three good sized samosas, I was envious! Now to the mains, as this was my major cause for complaint. Remember I'd asked for the Chicken Karahi to be mild, not highly spiced. I took one forkful and found it was so spiced that I couldn't eat it. I asked hubby to try it, he can eat the hotter curries, and he said it was very 'hot'. I just could not eat it at all. We called the waiter over and I explained that I had asked for this dish to be mild but this was, for me, inedible. He apologised and said he would get it changed but it would be a 'few minutes'. In the meantime, of course, hubby had his dinner and the waiter didn't offer to take the whole lot back which would have been the correct thing to do, so hubby ate alone whilst I waited. His comment on the Chicken Tikka was that it was "nothing special" and a bit lacking in chicken but tasty. Finally, my dinner arrived by which time my husband had finished his. The waiter plonked it down and left. I had no cutlery, it had been taken with the previous dish, the remainder of the rice that we ordered and the Bombay aloo was now cold. When the waiter brought the cutlery my husband pointed out that the rice and the potatoes were cold. He did offer to go and get some fresh but at this point I just couldn't be bothered as that would've been another wait and we were already on our second beer and vino. To be honest, I'd had enough and just wanted to leave. We finished our drinks and asked for the bill. Another female staff member, who I assume to be a manager, brought the bill and on checking it we found that they had added a 10% service charge to the bill of £7.62. Note the service charge had been added before the £20 Eat Out discounted had been taken off. The right price for the meal before discount and with the service charge would have been £83.82. We called the staff member over and said we did not get good service and we would not be paying £7.62. She was quite huffy and asked "Well what was the problem?!" I told her about the dish being wrong etc and she just went off and returned with the charge removed. I can see that I am in the minority in the reviews on the Taj Mahal but we've eaten in several other Crawley Indian Restaurants and sadly this has been the worst to date and we certainly will not be returning any time soon.

Had a great meal here, but the veggie meal is a side that they make a bigger portion of, very dairy heavy. Would be nice if there was more dairy free veggie options. But what we had tasted amazing anyway and great service.

I’ve eaten here many times and each time reminds me not to go back. The food is fantastic I have to admit but it’s such a shame about the service. The majority of staff are fairly rude and only care about you spending money. They don’t deal with feedback very well and don’t have that passion for customers. Even with bills being hundreds of pounds from group bookings they don’t seek grateful. I don’t think they can handle bigger bookings. If you was to eat here I’d recommend a couple or four people and I wouldn’t recommend coming with children as I’ve been told before they don’t welcome them.

I was delighted to see my favourite Indian restaurant in Crawley was still operating a takeaway service during lock down. So I had to order one. The ordering process is easy on line and a discount for on line bookings is available. When I got the food home, I was over the moon to find that the food was as tasty and well seasoned as a sit in meal would be. Congratulations to all at the Taj for maintaining your high standards during these difficult times. The food was superb and I cannot recommend their take away service enough do give it a try.

I’ve not been to this restaurant in years since I no longer live in the area, but I was recommended it and I am big fan of Indian food so I decided to order for my birthday meal with my family. I can honestly say that this was the best Indian food I have ever had! I would highly recommend. The food was outstanding and so was the service. I will most definitely be ordering from here again!

We ordered food and the man started explaining that the main dish will have 3 pounds charged extra, we tried enquiring however he insulted saying you will not be served and look for another restaurant.
