Had a takeaway tonight chilli chicken masala and there was a piece of metal wire in it , never going back which is a shame as the food is usually good 😡

A very good Indian, with quality service and food. I come here regularly whilst I am working in the area. Personal preference but the starters need a tiny bit more flavour to get 5* from me. Although, I still highly reccomend and will continue to return.

Bottles of cobra served warm and very expensive. Nan more crispy than anything. Main, rice barely warm and absolutely boring. Just no effort made and considering the high cost was so disappointing.

Having been to this restaurant for many years I am sorry to say it’s no longer good quality nor good value. I had a chicken shashlik which a few years ago they wouldn’t have served up. It was just bland and let’s say “fun sized” as the confectionary industry likes to call small portions. In addition the Peshawar nan bread was dry and more like a supermarket pre packed piece of cardboard, again a smaller portion than used to be the case. The bill was £60-ish. The take-a-way (if you forgive the pun) was small portion disappointing quality and not value for money.

We had one of best Indian meals here recently, that we have had for a very long time. The tastes were wonderful and the chicken was so juicy as well.

Visited the Taj with a group of 15 friends. Have been before and expected something better than this. The service was slow, the food average and only like warm. Would have been nice to have got a smile from some of the waiters. We enjoyed our own company, so the evening wasn’t a complete failure, but I doubt my wife and I would choose to visit on our own.

Waited 90 minutes for food with no apology. Only excuses. When the food did arrive some was stone cold and some orders were wrong. Plates luke warm and quickly cold. Rice luke warm . Excuse after excuse made as to why the problems occurred. No apology at all. We never have a problem as a couple. They cannot cope with a large party.

The worst chicken tikka I have ever had! Flavourless, tough and sinking in oil. The bhuna was bland, tasteless and cold. The mango chutney was the colour of ketchup! The worst Indian I have ever had!

Very friendly staff and the food is delicious as always. Never fails to impress me. I had a funny experience at one time as we were about to order food. The waiter came to me first and said "what's your main?" I completely miss heard and thought he was asking for my name. So gave him my name instead.

Lovely food and service but the restaurant was very cold, people were eating with coats on, I do understand that heating costs are high so will definitely go back in the summer.

1st time dining here. Can't fault the service, but food was quite disappointing, to be honest. The onion bhaji were dry and a bit on the overcooked side. My curry had far too much tamarind and tasted quite sour as a result. My sister ordered honey chicken, which was more like a pink coloured bhuna; very heavy on the coconut (she didn't eat much of it). Overall, there was a nice atmosphere, and service was speedy, but I don't think we will be in much of a rush to return. In fact, we all had dodgy stomachs the day after. Not a great sign. 😕

Sadly after deliberation I was not going to review. Food was cold, chicken was dry and tasteless. Sauce was oily like the stuff that gives you heart disease, the pakora was basically an over fried chicken nugget and was heavy batter with minuscule dry chicken! The Peshawary naan was bland and rubbery. I should have gone to Tesco boiled some chicken, wiped it on a nappy and tossed it in coriander for a better experience!! Dont get me started on the token salad!!

So I’m just moved to Winterbourne and thought I’d try a takeaway. One of the best curries I’ve had and a very reasonable price for a large portion. Recommended!! Didn’t sit in but it looks really nice inside :)

Visited Taj Brasserie on a Friday night. The staff and service were excellent. The food was also extremely tasty. Each dish had it’s own mix of flavours. I would definitely recommend. Having korma and some nan bread was for me the best combination.

We have wanted to try this place for so long.. 2 years long!! But because of dieting, we havent, but, we decided to be a bit naughty and just go.. Best Indian restaurant we've been to. The place itself is beautiful, the staff are polite, friendly, can't do enough for you, then, there's the food.. OMG.. I normally stick to a madras or something but I opted for a totally different dish, as did my Husband, and we absolutely loved it. Stunning!

Good food friendly atmosphere very attentive staff well worth a visit.

Nice looking place inside and decent gents which is a change. Food came not quite warm enough and the paneer naan had grated cheddar cheese on it! We asked the waiter who tried to sell us a line that it was Bangladeshi paneer then said it was Indian paneer, but it was certainly melted cheddar cheese.

Nine of us turned up on a Wednesday evening at very short notice, having been let down elsewhere. The restaurant was busy, which is always a good sign. Staff were welcoming, polite and attentive. All our meals were delicious. We'll be back!

Unfortunate to give a low rating as the food is delicious. However, the service is so bad that after years of eating here, I’ll be going to the Raj just down the road instead next time. I’m sitting writing this waiting for my food an hour and a half after arrival

Driven past this place for years, finally decided to book for a table of 8. Great food and service, everyone enjoyed their meals. Would recommend and will be going back.

Excellent meal here on Tuesday for my daughters birthday. Waiters were very attentive but not over the top, food was delicious and they even put on special music to bring out the cake (to my daughters embarrassment lol) and gave her a wee gift and card! The Tuesday banquet deal (which we didn't realise was on) was really good value for money, had plenty left over for my lunch the next day. My oldest daughter wants to go for her birthday too now. Enjoyed a meal here (2 couples) in June 2023. We reserved a table for 7.30pm on a Friday night and were greeted quickly and shown to our table in the centre of the bustling restaurant. Quickly offered drinks (most of the beer and cider options from the menu were not available) and poppadoms. We ordered 4 main courses (all chef’s specialties), 4 rice and 3 naan breads. Service was quick and efficient (perhaps too intrusive a few times) but the food was hot, fresh and very good. Bill came to £125 with 2 drinks each - so not the cheapest/best value ever. Food was good though and we had a nice evening.

We popped in without booking and had the most amazing meal. The food, service and ambiance was fantastic and as 1st time visitors we will definitely return. I would recommend this restaurant to all looking for a quality meal out

The food is not that great , the service is even worse. CHECK YOUR BILL. they tried to change prices , changing 2’s into 3’s and charged £4 for poppadoms. When confronted, he made up prices and refused to get the menu to show the correct prices. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. It is always empty, old decor.

Easily the best Indian food I’ve had in years. We enjoyed the service and food was brought out in good time and was beautiful and hot. The vibe was good and we left feeling very satisfied, we will be going back again for sure

Always a go to for us, very good quality but I have noticed the prices have crept up and portion sizes have gone down. We do takeout once a week and I've noticed I now only get 5 small pieces of chicken in my Madras. Not happy to be honest.

Went for a birthday meal, quite busy bit that normally meals good food, but my partners food was cold. Sent back, not much hotter on the return. For a main dish mine on had 5 pieces of meat mixed chicken and lamb for £13, so higher than the £10 average, the lamb was tough, got the order wrong, I would say 40% of the group were happy with the food. Considering 2 of us one drinking and one only had a cake £80. Underwhelming.

Food was okay but I caught a waiter rolling his eyes at my group when we asked where one of the items we ordered was. Rather just go to the Raj down the road.

Chicken Madras was not up to standard, Chicken dry...Service was good, however waiters coming to table evey 2mins was abit annoying....most tables too close can hear the others conversations...

It was ok food except for my mate who was given 4 mounth old ketchup and 50 minutes of waiting and forgot my tikka masala !!!

Great food and a nice place but the staff were almost too attentive. Almost felt like we were being pushed through the meal. A couple of time staff coming to clear the table before we had finished. Minor gripe on an overall reasonable experience though.

Food was lovely but we were a large group and service was very slow. Food was just put on table so lots of confusion whose dish was whose. Staff were friendly but like most Indian restaurants they don't cope very well with large parties.

We come here on a regular basis as the staff are so friendly and the food is fantastic. Had a bit longer to wait for the main course the last time we visited, but the place was full up and we were in a large group that had ordered a wide selection of food. Usually the service is a lot quicker. Very popular!

Very slow on getting the food to us

Great food! And the Tuesday night banquet is a bargain! They were trialling a new starter the last time we went. Chicken tikka with a sweet sauce served on a flatbread. It was delicious and I hope it makes it to their normal menu.

We enjoy coming here for the warm welcome, good service and delicious food. Unfortunately the service at our last visit was very average. The restaurant wasn't that busy and as a consequence the staff appeared to be bored, which was a shame.

Cold restaurant,cold food and very rude indifferent staff. Sent the food back as it was cold, not much hotter when they brought it again, staff not interested in customer service, restaurant cold so had to eat with coats on

This is such a shame to leave this, as loyal regulars of 12yrs +, we had a bad experience, wrong meals.. twice, no paneer in the sag paneer, minuscule amount of keema in the keema naan And smashed popadoms. We complained and assured they would give us a do over. Unfortunately the do over was even worse 😓 wrong meat dish again, no keema in the naan and a completely inedible starter - so charred and burnt we couldn’t bite through it. For us, we are done, after over a decade, I’m not sure what has changed so much for standards to be so poor. Don’t waste your money and go elsewhere!

Booked this restaurant for my Daughters birthday treat, sadly the food and hospitality was non existent. Having eaten Indian / Asian food for well over fifty years and often cook my own ,what we were given I would be very enbarrassed to serve to anyone,this restaurant needs to take a good look at itself . We were rushed by the staff from start to finish, my grandson was still eating his starter when our main course arrived, not a please,thank you from anyone . All we wanted was a nice relaxed evening and a decent meal but far from it. Get them in,get them out,take their money, never again.

The service is polite, there are a lot of staff, I mean a lot! One thing I would say is that I felt rushed. If you haven't seen someone for a while, you want to catch up, choosing menu items after 1 minute isn't going to happen. Overall, the food is good and I particularly liked the naan. The portions are adequate, temperature and taste are good. If you are looking for a different place to try it's worth giving a go and it's pretty standard fare for an Indian. Very middle of the road.

The food is authentically Indian and can't be beaten. The nan bread is exquisite, I couldn't stop eating it. The service is calm and friendly. We didn't reserve a table. It's a big place (converted pub) with lots of room. Lots of parking space too.

It took almost 2 hours for our food to arrive! When my vindaloo arrived it was very disappointing in the spicy hotness!

Don’t believe all the negative reviews. Our experience here was lovely. You’re sitting in a very tasteful restaurant, the staff are very friendly, and the food is delicious. I must mention that the toilets are absolutely spotless, which is very important to me. There’s a huge car park and parking at the front and a nice seating area where you can have a drink whilst waiting for your table. We went on a Monday and luckily I booked. It was packed by the time we left, which speaks volumes for a Monday. I will definitely be going again.

Visited here on friday 9/9/22. Staff were rude , food was awful arrived cold poppadoms were over cooked and greasy! Drinks that arrived were not the correct drinks we ordered. Not pleasant at all would not recommend and will not return. Dont bother!!

A great meal, although not as hot (spicey) as I expected, the Restaurant was busy which resulted in the service being on the slow side.

Simply awful. We arrived at approx 1800 and the restaurant was relatively empty. Left stood at the entrance with no welcome. We could see the staff and they could see us. But they continued with their own conversation. Eventually taken to the table with no smile or greeting. He asked if we require a table for 2 when I was stood with my wife and son! Ordered poppadoms for starters and they were soft. No crunch. Ordered drinks and waiter informs us that the small bottles of lager were not chilled so would provide large to share. 2 small bottles arrived at the table. Main meals were bland and tasteless. Never been to a restaurant where staff show no interest in the customer and service is carried with no communication. No one greets you, no one asks you if the you're enjoying the food, no one asks if you want another drink. After the poppadoms, the waiter (old chap with jet black hair), came to table with no acknowledgement or asked if we'd finished and simply started collecting the dishes. Amazed they have repeat custom. Very poor standard.

My first time. I would go back. The place was really busy. Volume of people speaks for itself, a popular venue. The food was really good. The service was good.

We had a lovely meal, the restaurant is a former pub so there is plenty of space but if does get busy. We had to wait 30mins for our mains after finishing our poppadoms but it was worth it. Will make this our go to Indian now .

Superb food with excellent attentive service.

We arrived at 7.30 pm,before we sat down the staff were straight on us for drinks. Then straight away ordering our meals. We started with poppadoms and pickles. Before we even finished the staff brought out our starters. Just as we were about to finish the main course was brought out to us. I asked for time for a little break between meals, but ignored what I was saying. My meal was fine but my friends meal was a lamb dish which was tough. Bearing in mind we booked this table, when we arrived they were not sure where to sit us down. When we were sat down we were put by a young disruptive family who had no control over there children not a good experience.

Nice restaurant, staff very welcoming and efficient Papadums and sauces were good Starter (lamb chop) was good, same for main plate (Naga masala) but I expected something hotter / spicier Menu says that naga masala is « madras hot » but I would say that it was medium (max) Rice and naan were just ok. Restaurant can accommodate large group , there are different rooms so it is not noisy. Toilets could be cleaner, floor was very slippery

Wonderful meal on the banquet evening. We were staying in the local area and decided to visit for a meal. The food was delicious, generous portions and very flavoursome. Great selection of dishes to choose from. Certainly great value for money! Delicious Indian!

Arrogant staff who needs training in customer care

Whilst I personally am not a huge fan of Indian food I still highly enjoyed what was on offer. It was quiet when we went though I have heard it can be busy on holidays and such. The waiters were friendly and the food was quick to arrive. I particularly recommend the meat samosas, which now that I am writing this I want more of.

Wonderful food wonderful staff just a top place, if you don't see what you would like to order just ask. One of the very best place I have visited and we have been to a number throughout Europe and Australia Give it a try and judge for yourselves.

We have visited many Indian/Asian Restaurants in Europe, Singapore and Australia this is up there with the very best, it has a very large variety of meals to select from, the speed at which you get served is very much down to yourselves just control...

Good menu and plenty of dishes and you can also ask if they can make the dishes hotter.Only negative was the drinks,after my fourth choice I finally got a drink as low on a lot of stock.
