Usely a good restaurant to dine in but not a days because I think they had changed the chef .The quality and quantity are drop .sad

The chicken and sweetcorn soup was not great, but the roast meat was one of the best meals I’ve had in ages.

Service and food are OK. Three-cooked rice is a must.

Went here with our neighbours, they ordered a variety of Dim Sum and Duck Noodles, service and food was amazing. Even supplied us with containers to takeaway what was left. Will definitely be going back there.

If only parking were better. Good selection and prices are reasonable. Always busy!

Update: It’s no longer good. The dim sum is half as thin as before. The quicksand buns are not as quick as before. The roasted rice is thinner than before. If the price and the portion are of the same quality, I will switch to other restaurants. The glutinous rice chicken will have rice dumpling leaves. Hong Kong-like. They prawn dishes are great especially the gold sand prawn that the shell is crispy and the gold sand is juicy.

Food quality, much cheaper than supermarkets are more fresh

An excellent place to take lunches. The HK milk tea is my favorite drink. All the waiters and waitresses are very nice.

We were expecting a good time because of the reviews and how busy it was. Nice to say Tai Wu did not disappoint. We went for the set menu option which had 3 courses (definitely more than enough food for 2 adults and 1 child). The service was attentive and the food was excellent. Starters and mains were great, quality non oily food, crunchy vegetables and very tender and tasty meat. All in all a great experience, a lovely way to spend 2-3 hours with family.

Best duck ever it's so good 5/5, would give 5 stars but some of the food doesn't come with the right ingredients like the crispy fried noodles with long beans and you end up with a rubbery feeling

Car park available Restaurant is big and you don't have to wait for too long even on busy festival times. The attached Chinese supermarket is convenient too

May of changed its name and had a make over but the food is so so nice . I dine in for lunch dinner or evening tea love the place .. half roast duck HOT off the bone or Lamb in black bean sauce. All the fillet steaks are perfect and the Pork Chop Love ❤️ it. Also she they have it the sea bass in simple ginger garlic and soy sauce steamed .. you know when you walk in a restaurant and there are 70% filled with Chinese diners they must be doing something right.. try it ..

We recently hosted a 30 person birthday banquet at the Tai Wu. The restaurant staff were fantastic throughout - from the planning phase through the dinner itself (accommodating a couple of people with food restrictions as well). Everyone enjoyed the food which was well-paced at each course. The Tai Wu has deservedly become a family favorite!

Simply the best Chinese food in Manchester

Best dim sum and canto food in Manchester. I have been there several times for yum cha. It will be perfect if the egg tart is hot.

Great food with big portions. Do mind the dishes and prices are without rice/noodles. So you'll end up paying a little bit more. But totally worth it! Friendly and fast staff giving you the best time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tai Wu with a group of 11 people, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, effortlessly handling our large group with efficiency and warmth. Service was prompt without feeling rushed, and they made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. We opted for Set Meal A, and it was absolutely excellent. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with vibrant flavours and generous portions that left everyone more than satisfied. Particular highlights included the hot and sour soup, and the sizzling beef, but honestly, every plate was a hit with our group. The combination of great food, excellent service, and a friendly atmosphere makes this restaurant a standout. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an enjoyable Chinese dining experience, whether you're going in a small group or a larger gathering like ours.

We went here for a post-PhD viva meal, booking for 10. Food was excellent (the cumin lamb and mapo tofu especially devine) and the staff were very lovely. They could maybe do with more vegetarian menu items (we had vegetarian and halal dietary requirements who might have liked more options) but they did say they could make some other dishes vegetarian on request.

I could say the food quality was not really good comparing to other dim sum restaurants in the UK. Staff was not really helpful at all and a bit pushy, like urging people to finish their meal quickly. Price was okay. It was not my no.1 choice to eat dim sum.

Absolutely loved the food at Tai Wu. Quantity and quality is super high! The place is amazing and very much value for money. Although we visited almost at the end of the day, an hour before closing. Service wasn’t compromised. Super glad to have dined and found this gem. Staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable with the menu providing the best recommendations.

It's going down since it became Taiwu. Went yesterday, Sunday and it was so quiet compare to previous Taipan. Food was bad, whole family of 5 got tummy ache. Toilet tap was broken and they sorted out by some dirty water bowl for washing and keep them for other to rewash. Going down hill. 👎

It’s a very atmospheric Chinese restaurant. When I arrived, most of the people speaking Cantonese seemed to have returned to Hong Kong. The food is delicious and of a high standard, and it’s not too expensive. It’s worth giving it a try👍🏻 The special "Jin braised fried wontons" are so delicious😋

Many types of dim sum and classic Cantonese dishes in a Chinese restaurant. Car park is not so large so there is a queue.

I had a disappointing experience at Tai Wu. Despite many available seats, we were asked to wait without a clear reason. The staff member who initially spoke to us walked away and didn’t seem to have any intention of helping us when she returned. Feeling ignored, we decided to leave. I hope they can improve their service in the future.

I love this restaurant. Friendly staff, very good food, decent but not overwhelming portions, also very clean. Good for family, group or couples meals (been for all these). Even when busy the wait for food is not bad either. Highly recommended.

Delicious dim sum! All our other plates were also yummy, the brocoli with garlic was cooked to perfection.

Went to celebrate fathers day and despite having no reservation and the restaurant rightfully being very busy, we really didn't wait long for a seat. Staff were attentive, find was served quickly and efficiently and we couldn't fault the quality of anything we ordered. Despite the heat wave, the air-conditioning had everyone perfectly cool, making the atmosphere very relaxing and dinner was amazing value for money. Will definitely be back soon

Food and service was terrible first of all food used to be really good before they've changed hand. Went to tai pan today but ended up being disappointed with the quality of food and service having to beg waiter /waitresses to take order and waiter took my plate of me whilst i was still having my meal . Waiter and waitresses never asked about how we were doing nor food quality. We've ordered a siu mai today but somehow smell and tasted off like a smelly old pork teast and smells wierd (with the service i was getting i was too scared to mentionthis to the waiter ). I personally wouldn't come back again as this new image of tai wu has given themselves wasn't worth for money or even to try out if I were you I'd go to glamours even tho thier service still terrible but at leat they know how to cook thier food properly. Also supermarket till one staff was very rude they weren't serving customer with the right manner. Till lady keep trowing card machine at me and doesn't have patience for customer to search for different payment for even one second till lady told me I should move out the way so she can serve other ppl whilst I was getting a different payment method(ive queued up just like anyother customers that was befor me and behind me ). Is this really the service consumer i should get when I’ve spoken to the till lady kindly and politely, so I don't understand how I have gotten the treatment I've got. If they lady doesn't enjoy her job then she should find a different one as my friend said everytime she come to the store the same till lady treats her with the same manner as well (trowing card machine at her ) this service is unexceptable we will defo not be back as this isn't the type of customer service we're looking for and would not support businesses with this attitude ever again.

Good Chinese, a bit out of the way but good for dim sum and also the alternative menu. Recommended. Great menu and great dim sum, lots of choice. I am used to the dishes, but I noticed that some of the friends I bring to the restaurants who aren't familiar with chinese food feel a bit lost so maybe a menu for them with pictures and more detailed descriptions? I am happy with the menu and most visitors probably are. That's just a suggestion. I am very happy with the quality of the food and service.

Great selection of dim sum dishes, some of which we can't find even in London. Service was good. If we lived closer we'd be regulars. Parking is free but tiny parking lot and always a queue to find a space.

There are choices and novelties in the meals. The service is acceptable and parking services are available, but the lights are a bit dim.

Great experience with friendly staffs and nice food. We normally come here once every 1/2 months for a family meal with about 10 people. Food is good, we normally go for lots of vegetables, a steamed fish and a bit of duck and beef. Oh yes tofu dishes are very nice too. Very Friendly staffs also. Definitely recommend if you fancy Chinese food and want a nice environment slightly outside the city centre.

2 of us had set menu lunch here, which was priced at £13 each. We also ordered a side of mixed veg to share We had 2 juices, 1 wine and Chinese tea for 2. The bill was £61.60. I queried this and they charged me £14.50 for the mixed veg even though I asked for a side order and it was 13 on the set menu for a main. And 10% service, which bumps your bill up! Beware of that! Other than that service was good and food ok. But felt a little overcharged.

Booked a Chinese New Year meal with friends here but have come before for dim sum. Always enjoy coming to Tai Wu as their food is delicious. We got a range of dishes which everyone loved, and we really appreciated the staff for being accommodating of our friend who had a peanut allergy, especially as we know they can't cater specifically for people with allergies or dietary requirements. But I called up ahead to check if they used peanut oil (which they don't) and on the day the server let us know which dishes did or didn't have peanuts it. Service was fast and both food and drink came out quickly despite it being busy. Pretty standard prices for a Chinese restaurant, think we spent around £40 per person including drinks. The only small downside is the parking as it's not a huge car park and spaces are tight, and it's also used by people who visit the supermarket downstairs.

The fried rice is very fragrant. The dry pot fat sausage is delicious, full of aroma and spicy. The potatoes in the spicy and sour shredded potatoes are softer in texture, but the crispness is missing? And the sourness didn't show through. This dish is very famous in mainland China and rarely fails? Why is the taste and texture gone? It’s unknown?

Lovely food. Wanted to take some family and friends to try dim sum, did have to use Google translate for the menu and help from other Chinese friends before going to ensure I got the right food but it was lovely and the staff are really friendly. It does get extremely busy though on a Saturday so good idea to book if there's a few of you!

I visit this Chinese restaurant every week. The food is cost-effective and of good quality. The steamed rice with chicken feet and pork ribs is particularly delicious. It is a must-try.

Very "westernised" Chinese Restaurant. The whole menu is catered for Westerners, that is you don't get the full Chinese menu expected. There is, however, Chinese roast available. The roast duck is pretty good, we ordered half a duck. Belly pork and Char Sui is pretty good too. Fried beef hor fan is not bad too, not greasy at all. Service was almost non existent. Sat you down, get your tea, took your order, brought your food … !! Try getting you tea refilled is definitely a challenging experience. It was less than half full, not busy at all. I wouldn't say it is a welcoming atmosphere. It was a week day dinner time, I don't know if that makes any difference. It seems you get better service at a buffet restaurant … !! However, a service charge of 10% is added to the final bill. A charge for what … there was no service ! All in all, if you want authentic Chinese food, there are better "proper" Chinese Restaurant in the centre (Manchester). Price is a bit on the steep side too, you can get better service and experience elsewhere. Not recommended

Visited in New Year Eve around 12:45pm, almost full and luckily not waiting too long. Dim sum is yummy with expected standard level, portion just right, staff are nice.

I went with my family on Christmas day. My mum is disabled and the restaurant kindly seated us with a table with plenty of room and near the lift. John the Manager and the rest of the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Even though the restaurant was packed out. Food was delicious and highlights were the Chinese roast pork and salt n pepper squid. Prices decent. Well worth a visit.

The food here is always good so you know what you’re getting every time! It has been a very popular venue with my family for a number of years and we always enjoy ourselves here. The venue is not very modern but is very nostalgic for many first gen Asians.

Very good restaurant, it's nicely decorated inside, modern, and clean. Service is very good, they do dim sum, and traditional Chinese dishes. The roast meats are very good, especially roast duck, pork belly, vegetables are cooked really well and are beautifully presented. The only downside is that the car park is woefully inadequate so it's often full.

TAI WU is top rated Chinese restaurant in Manchester. The staffs and in particular the Manager is always there to help customers. It is an excellent family restaurant. We are lucky to have Tai Wu so close to us.

We love this place. When we think let's have Chinese food this is our reference point. Whenever we go with friends they agree and also pilot it on their top food. The menù has gotten a little smaller but still lots to choose from the dim sum is yummy but make sure you go when it is available. No dim sum in the evening. They do not deliver but as a place to take friends and family I am sure you will agree. Just be prepared for rush service noisy atmosphere and tons of guests so even though the restaurant is huge you may have to wait.

Great seafood dish in tradional Cantonese style.

If you want Dim Sum and authentic Cantonese food then come here. Its not fancy and the service is trying at times but the food is some of the best you will eat in the UK. I have been coming here for over 20 years and its never wavered in quality. Easy to park too - which edges it over its local rival Yang Sing in the city centre.
