Tai Won Mein Noodle House in Medway

I'm from Hong Kong, and I can say this is one of the best Chinese foods I've had in Medway❤️ Especially their sweet and sour chicken fried rice and fried beef ho fun. They are so good that whenever I feel homesick, I will come to this place and order them🥹 I just wish they did home delivery.

It was what I expected for a Chinese. Slightly pricey but not bad. The only restaurant with people in on a Friday night. Also the toilets made me laugh. The food was lovely.

The Tai Won Mein is all about decent portions of Chinese food served quickly in a cafe style restaurant. There's nothing plush here, but it doesn't try to be plush either. You know exactly what you're getting from the moment you enter. Order, give your table number and you won't be waiting long. The food is decent and the service is efficient. The tables could do with just a little more attention to become truly clean, but heh, we didn't mind.

Great portion size, tasty food, quick service, good price

Last went here about 10 years ago but as always food was very quick and delicious. Portions are massive, we brought a container with us to take home our leftovers. You have to order and pay first at the counter & its cash only.

Food is really good, great value for money, staff pleasant. Draft coke is always flat, and tables appear sticky, yet the place is clean.

Lovely place, we feel in love with the Greenwich branch and stumbled on this place serendipitously. Had the spicy ho fun. Was great. It was a bit noisy and the fire alarm went off a couple of times (false alarm) but apart from that it was fine. Also some loud children but that is not the fault of the establishment but the parents did deal with them by taking them out.

Have never had a bad meal,from here salt and chill squid as good if not better then most top london Chinese restaurants excellent food quick service great staff excellent 5 star quality .portions are big will definitely need cartons to take home if your used to ordering lots different dishes,rice,and noodle dishes could easly feed 3 xl plates enjoy best Chinese for miles opend 7days a week very big restaurant loads room can get a bit chilli so you may need some extra layers on but great when it's scorching outside

I have been to this place a few times, especially when I want a very good meal for great value, and it never disappoints . Starters taste amazing and fresh, and so does the main meal. Very good portions, too.

Very bad customer service. The staffs dont know how to treat customers, food was also not that much tasty. Only focuses on big tables not for 1-2 persons who went there for dine in. Not recommended

Not recommended. It used to be a nice place to grab a quick meal. Not anymore. Portions are just noodles or rice and very little veggies and meat. For the prices they ask compared to other places, it isn’t worth it. Service is minumal and not nice. So stingy, I had a meal and ordered a pot of tea, then my partner came to for us to leave together, she asked for a cup to try the tea and they refused... they said we will have to charge you with a price of a tea pot it is only for one person... terrible. Card payment is £10 while most dishes are £9.50 just to make you order more... the food is tasteless and I had eggshells that felt so disgusting to bite.

I've visited the place two weeks back and ordered two noodle dishes one seafood and one chicken chow mein noodle without noticing one noodle dish is more than enough for 2 person. Even the service staff also mentioned that one dish is enough only for one person but it was huge. Portion size is more than enough per person. In the seafood dish, the crab meat and fish I've tasted had a similar taste of crab sticks and fish balls from supermarkets. And both dishes flavoured from sauces instead of real spices. I've asked them to make the dishes spicier but they sent a chili mix dish along with the noodle but that chili dish also sweet. Apart from that the portion size is very good. Taste I can say medium since its not bland but not the natural flavours but I must say the food is HIGHLY WORTH for the price you pay. Service staff was very good and responsive. They been so kind and highly efficient when dealing with the customers.

A good find. Authentic Chinese with Monster portions. Quirky pay before you eat, but worth it. I’m sure I will be back.

The pork chow mein was absolutely great!!! It's a lovely environment with a warm decorated interior, friendly staff giving great service. It was a great experience and I would love to come back many more times. Good for family, friends, dates and even solo experience.

Hidden gem in Gillingham is Tai Won Mein! The food is delicious and served in ogre-sized portions. We always eat in, and the food really is fast! It is always fairly busy, just watch out for traffic wardens if you park outside!

Superb food, great value. Only downside is can't pay by card.

Very very bad customer service.. Owner is very rude.. She doesn't understand what is a portion, half portion or a full portion of duck.. And she keep repeating am arguing and I don't understand portion sizes.. After a heated conversation, my dad manage to calm down the situation and she still continues to argue. I don't recommend at all.

Not a real need to write a good review as you can see every single one's fantastic!!! Been coming here since was 21 17 years ago same staff and never missed on the food so there doing something right!!!! Unbelievable best food in the area and surrounding areas!!!

Quick service, piping hot, delicious food. I like to eat beef curry and rice.

I come here often with my friend on an empty stomach so that we can take advantage of the hefty portions. Planning to go again asap and would definitely recommend to others. The only downside is that they do not accept card but there is a cash machine nearby.

Good Size portion hot fresh food

extremely rude to me and the food tasted like nothing k found hair in the rice and the food arrived extremely late. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

First off, the chicken satay was pink and was extremely chewy. Then my partners main meal was bland and the duck was pure fat, I spat it out as soon as I tried it. When asking for a refund we was refused, because apparently it was an inconvenience for them as they "wasted" food. The restaurant did not try and compensate us, so we left and will 100% not be returning. The women that was dealing with our complaint was completely rude and just kept justifying how her food was good, ignoring our concerns.

I write this review with such emotion. Wow, just wow, I come to this place based on Richard Ts such pure review as his been coming here since 2003. This is my first time too, and wow such an experience. The workers are amazing, the menu is vast and the price is so good, especially in these troubling times. I can truly say myself and the team can come here for such a quality experience and amazing food. We paid £8.50 for some noodles with pork and just wow! The portions are huge. I am glad I took a chance and looked at the reviews. Richard T, your such a champ! I don’t have friends, I have family, and we absolutely love this place!

Because it is a noodle bar there was a general buzz of conversation from other customers. Staff we pleasant and polite but very little interaction with customers. Place bright and clean. Food very tasty and plentiful. Would happily eat there again and suggest others may enjoy it too.

Horrendously noisy and far too much food to eat. When we asked to take it home, they also charged for take out containers. Will definitely not return

Very clean and nice restaurant. Authentic Chinese food which I enjoyed. I also asked for cutlery, which they provided. They do not take card though, so before you arrive make sure you have cash on you. I will visit again in the future.

Well worth going, fast, friendly service, cash only order and pay at till. Fresh food that is served quickly after ordering with minimal waiting, generous portions also. When u have a meal here you walk out feeling like you've had a proper home cooked meal, comfortably full. Highly recommended......

Went here after so many years. Previously located in Catford but when I was googling them I found then in Gillingham which was great because I was there visiting friends and this place felt nostalgic. Food was the same taste as before quantity has reduced nevertheless ill still go back there if I was near there again

Very friendly and helpful staff. Authentic Cantonese style food with great value for money - big food portion with an inexpensive price-tag. Spicy and salted squid is my #1 recommendation. Any kind of fried rice is good. Chinese tea is also a better choice (than other drinks). No service charge but cash payment only.

Gillingham best kept secret. Gills has a distinct lack of decent Chinese food places but this is the only place I'll go to. Huge menu filled with tasty options and the portion sizes are insane. I never understand how the food comes out so quickly but somehow it comes out in 10 minutes every single time, no matter how busy they are. The price of food is crazy cheap as well. I come here at least every couple of week and will continue until the day I die. Big up tai won mein

Very big portions for not much money

Usually very good, I come here 3 - 4 times a week as you can order and have your food ready to take away in less than 10mins. Today however was a different experience, I was served by a young lad who seemed to be struggling to understand what I wanted. I always order the same thing which only contains chicken but as soon as I checked my food it had mixed meat. I went inside to ask them to remake only to be told I needed to be more clear when I ordered and had the young lad who served me try to get into an argument with me like a spoilt teenager who was being told off by a parent. Once my order had been remade the food was spot on but customer service today was appalling.

Food lacking in flavour but very oily

It’s my second time visiting the shop. I’m truly disappointed about the customer service. Very poor and bad manners to the customers. The food I ordered were also bit disappointing. The Singapore noodle we ate today has not good at all. It taste like burnt. As it was asian cuisine they won’t serve any side dishes, that’s also disappointing. After all a bad experience. Not recommending at all.
