Tahini in Dundee City

Amazing food, very generous portions, friendly staff, great value for money. Dundee's best dinner spot IMO. Make sure you arrive hungry because you'll want to finish everything and the weekend set menu comes with so many dishes, all of which are gorgeous.

I was recently at Tahini after I have not been in good while. I was a little apprehensive as I checked the recent reviews and some had said that the portion sizes were much smaller. I decided I would give them a chance as I enjoyed them so much the last time I was in and I was not disappointed, the portions were just as big as before and after each course the waitress asked us if we would like more of anything so I left very full and happy. I will definitely be coming back.

Didn't live up to previous visits here. The amount of food in the set menu was underwhelming, especially the meat platter. Tahini has been a real favourite of ours in the past, but we were disappointed. We also felt we were hurried to pay and leave after an hour and 20 minutes (and before I had finished my wine!) This was only ten past nine on a Thursday evening. I don't like to write unkind reviews so I am sorry Tahini but we expected far more as it has always been far better than this. Won't be back, but I hope you can improve for guests in future.

We were a table of 6 out for a family celebration. Although the food tasted nice I was shocked at how meagre the portions were , there was barely enough food for 4 people never mind 6. Between food and wine we spent almost £400 . Some of our party went to McDonald’s on the way home ! Absolutely disgusted with the experience

We chose to have the 2 course set meal - 6 hot mezze dishes followed by grilled chicken & lamb. Absolutely delicious - and all served very smoothly. Daughter is coeliac & they were able to accommodate this with no problem.

What can I say about an amazing food experience. I had never before tried this type of food, but wow, I was blown away. My friend recommended it, and it was with some trepidation that I looked at the menu prior to the visit. I had made some tentative choices. However, when we arrived, we were told it was a tapas only menu. We were brought a variety of dishes which I have to say were all delicious and left you wanting more. I tried foods which ordinarily I would not have ordered and was left, just wanting to repeat the experience. We said to who we thought was the resteraunt manager can you compliment the chef. Turned out he was the chef and was taking time out to see his guests were enjoying their experience. It is a small cosy venue, and from the busy nature of the restaurant, I would say book to ensure you are not disappointed. I want to go back but it is not local to me. However, I will be making an effort to return. Excellent food experience, staff helpful and very attentive. Cannot fault in any way our experience.

Great tasting food! Not huge selection. We had the chicken skewers which are seasoned beautifully. Highly reccomend. However for my taste the restaurant is a bit small and does not offer dessert for my sweet tooth. All that being said, if you want to great lebanese food this is the place to go. Filled up to the ceiling with interesting memorabilia be sure to give it a visit!

FANTASTIC! Despite living in Edinburgh it’s our second time at this place this year. We went on the 16/11/24 and had the tapas menus. Lots of food and very tasty with friendly service . Nothing was too much for the staff and the atmosphere was truest excellent. Top notch and well worth a visit.

Really tasty food in a lovely intimate restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the hummus and the Laffa, but everything was delicious and reasonably priced.

So full of flavour, absolutely beautiful

The owner squeezed us in for dinner as the restaurant was packed! The service was amazing as they describe each dish. We went for the sharing tapas which was great value for money and meant we had lots of different dishes to taste. The best Lebanese restaurant we've been to and will definately return when next in Dundee.

Was looking for somewhere interesting to take the family for lunch, while visiting the area. Noticed the online reviews were very good so thought we try it. Really good food and service. Even my 5 and 2 year old enjoyed the selection of food available. Would certainly go back.

Food arrived well over an hour late, tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. Salad was wilted and dark, chips soggy and the whole meal barely warm enough. Food was sat waiting for delivery for ages and neither the restaurant or Just Eat thought to phone about it.

We thought this a lovely spot. A little dark, but quirky. This is good, home style cooked food- don’t expect Michelin! We initially thought £18.99 was a bit steep per person for a mezzo style lunch but wow! ive travelled to both Turkey and Tunisia before, and this just took me back instantly. There were massive selections, first one cold, second one hot. Cold bits: Baba ganoush was just gorgeous, as was the tabbouleh. Yummy tomatoes in vinegar with mint and garlic, a sort of potato salad, red cabbage in yoghurt (game changer), a cucumber yogurt thing, and really lovely humour with sumac. Hot bits: Beef meatballs in tomato sauce, really good quality halloumi, vegetable tagine type thing, very lemony/garlicky potatoes, a chicken rice and a lamb rice, both equally yummy. We were also given a complimentary dkice of watermelon and turkish delight, cute touch at the end. we saw sone 'main' courses goibg out amd they were HUGE. The service was friendly and unobtrusive, we liked her. Definitely put on your list if youre hungry!

Went for a birthday celebration, table of 5. Set menu , tapas. The cold and hot starters were fine enough , small plates , but when the main course was presented to our table i was shocked to the core . One plate of chicken wings and lamb bits ( i think) with some shredded lettuce and beetroot . That would have been for 1 maybe 2 people. But 5 adults i was speechless.i didnt want to make a complaint on the night as it was my dsughters birthday. Sweet was just as poor!! For the price of £32.00 per head i thought it was very poor and could not recommend.

The chips tasted of polystyrene from the container and were soggy, the bread is clearly stale and for the few pieces of meat there is, it is tough. We got 2 massive tubs of Holly’s and tiny portions of hot food.

Looking for something different for an anniversary meal, and we choose well! Excellent tapas for 2. First 2 courses had a variety of 8 small starter dips etc. with flatbread, followed by a further 8 savoury rice, potatoes and chutneys. Meat course had small portions of lamb, chicken and beef and finally a dessert course of baklava, Turkish delight and a slice of watermelon. We opted for a bottle of house red which was reasonably priced and perfectly acceptable. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Definitely recommend, we'll certainly be back!

Outstanding food as always. Best takeaway I've ever had!

Popped in on a whim on a Sunday lunch knowing nothing about the place. Food was excellent and pleased to get a decent salad which is a rarity in Scotland. Took leftovers home to my youngest daughter and she made a point of telling me how nice they were. Will be back next time we’re in Dundee.

Booked a lunch after seeing Kimono exhibition and had a wonderful time. We were 7 people 1 of whom was vegetarian and the welcome was friendly and relaxed. We had lots of lovely food and a good chat. I'd easily be prepared to drive the 75 minutes or so to go back and may well do so.

Excellent food thanks to Laurie. Would highly recommend it. The portions were generous and the best ingredients were used. I'd definitely return on my next trip to Dundee.

Best Lebanese food I've ever had, really good value and very friendly staff. House red wine was brilliant too. Wholly recommend. Free 🍉 at end of the night an added bonus.

This needs investigated by Just Eat to see if they’re legitimate. Another 5* review with no comments, left by doubtful local names Flin, Ana, Miele (he must be the dishwasher), Saja, Bela. Poor quality food, staff need training.

According to the impudent waitress. "Sometimes you may get 2 tablespoons of Baba Ganoush other times a little bit more for £4.40" - Lucky on line customers. ALWAYS meagre portions.

Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere and excellent, friendly service. The staff were excellent but a special mention must go to Lori who was very attentive and dealt with our requests around food allergies and wine choices with the utmost professionalism. What a lovely place and we look forward to returning.

Had a lovely lunch at Tahini with my two kids. The service was probably the best I have experienced at a restaurant for as long back as I can remember and the food was really very very tasty. Plenty of vegan options available and dishes that could be adapted. It was such a treat to be given some vegan baklava at the end of the meal. Would definitely recommend and will return next time I’m in Dundee

Had tapas for lunch with a friend 10th August. As always the food was excellent and the service outstanding. Look forward to returning soon.

The food was really good and portion sizes were value for money. The meze plates were delicious and the meats well cooked. Staff were attentive and we thought the cost of the meal for three with a bottle of wine very reasonable! Make a reservation before coming. I visited on Aug 8th 2024. I pleased to say Tahini is still a great place to eat in. The cold and hot Mezes were excellent: the grilled eggplant being the winner for me today. all the dishes were tasty.. Watermelons were served for desert.

Avoid at all cost. Baba Ganoush two table spoon if your lucky for £4.40. Stale new flat bread that according to the waitress the customers love, she would say that. Pics before and after. Blamed Just Eat for late delivery, they waited until the restaurant finished serving then saw what they could make up the home deliveries with then called Just Eat in my opinion.

Great food and service, expensive though.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so full. The food is amazing, with loads of vegan items to choose from even in the fixed menu. Hard to choose a favourite dish from the 18, yes 18, different foods they out down in front of us. Intense flavours make you want more, more than you have room for. A nice bottle of Lebanese wine to wash it all down too, a little pricey but worth it (and there were less expensive house wines).

No choice on Saturday night. Set mezze but every one was excellent.

Service was good and the prices are reasonable, but that's just as well because the food was pretty average. Samosa starter was rather oily, and came with exactly the same salad and sauce as the main course, which included some pretty average quality meat. No idea why this place is rated so highly.

This is a Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant. The ambiance is warm and friendly and the staff were so kind and helpful. We were made to feel so welcome and the food was delicious. Our meal exceeded expectations.

A wee gem...very central in the city..food was amazing, staff were friendly & helpful..please try lentil & veg soup..was honestly one of the best soups ever...also we had chicken shwarma & lamb & okra stew..huge portions & so delicious..reasonable cost for a lovely malbec & brilliant flavoured coffee..we will be back....5 stars*****

Very poor. I'm not the sort to leave a review but this was a terrible meal. Service was polite and prompt. Food was brought out quickly even though they were nearly full. Restaurant interior was okay but it looked like the rear windows were coated with green algae/mould on the outside, which doesn't look great. Menus also have various prices scratched out or taped over and then biroed in. But none of that really matters and I'd never leave a negative review for something so trivial. Food was a massive disappointment. Worst I've had in maybe a decade. The person I was with had no complaints so maybe I just picked the worst thing on the menu. Starter Baba Ghanoush was fine, nothing much to say about it. Main Lamb Bamai Bilahme was appalling. Lamb was so chewy and overcooked, I literally couldn't cut through it with the table knife. Had to use a separate starter knife with a few more teeth and even then it was tough as hell. Ridiculous. Meat was so rubbery that it would actually pull itself off of the fork to try and go back to its shape. Don't know how you get lamb like that without blasting it in the microwave. One piece was more than 50% gristle and I had to spit it out. The whole experience made me feel like an infant picking at his food, struggling to use cutlery. The stew itself was grim. Tomatoes and okra just a sickly mush. Everything about it made me think both it and the rice were done in the microwave, which would explain the quick service. Also bit into a cardamom pod, which normally I'd put down to my own inattention, but with so much else wrong, it all combined to make for a terrible meal. Then to cap it off, the man I'm guessing was the restaurant owner came over to the table next to us and one woman was praising the lamb (they had ordered something different) and he was telling them about the great butcher they go to while I was sitting directly behind him, with a mouthful of fat and gristle, thinking that it must be the worst lamb I've ever had. Thank goodness she said "I don't ever cook lamb myself," otherwise I might have thought I was losing my mind. I do cook it and this absolutely not how it should be. The longer their conversation went on, the more comedically absurd the whole situation felt, to the point where we started laughing. At no point did anyone ask us if the meal was okay. This probably would have been the first time in my life where I would have replied "No" to that question and sent it back, but alas, never had the chance. Couldn't even finish it, which again, is a first. Waitress maybe sensed I wasn't happy at the end because she didn't make any conversation even though the restaurant had emptied. I was at the point of complaining, which I don't think I've ever done before, so it's probably for the best that she didn't ask Absolute waste of £20.

A superb wee restaurant. We had a Vegan set meal which was 4 courses. Cold meze, hot meze, main and dessert. Every dish was amazing and we were absolutely stuffed. Lovely staff, great service and good value for money.

Excellent food -4 course meze(aka tapas) and great Service. Booking probably essential - all tables in use by 7pm You can order takeaway too. Returned for Lunch July 2024. Food just as good, Lunch 3 course Meze excellent. Staff and location friendly and welcoming.

Me and a friend came here, it was really good like more lamb rice and a red cabbage salad and the salad cream. If someone knows the salad cream name please let me know. I keep searching for the same salad cream could not find the same taste 😞

A Lebanese restaurant, but unfortunately we were denied entry under the pretext that advance reservations were required

Went today with my wife just for a spontaneous lunch and thought to try the place out . Glad we did, food quality and presentation was great but the restaurant service was even better . We had regular check in if everything was ok and or if we required anything. Decor and atmosphere makes it feel abroad

Staff are kind and quick. Chill and exotic vibes with amazing food. Clean and cozy place for a date or getting food with others. Also great if you're by yourself. I had the chicken okra stew and it came with bread salad, chips and the best salad dressing. The stuffed leaves were bomb.

Ate here just after graduation. The staff were so accommodating and allowed us to come earlier with no issues. The food was perfect, and served promptly. If I lived in Dundee I would come here on a regular basis. Thank you very much!

Amazing food as had to accept the set meal but really impressed with the choice, variety and taste as would have never normally of picked the meals provided. We were served more than enough and were full afterwards. Staff were lovely and kind. Thankfully we just turned up as was starting to get busy when we left. Great meal and great staff definitely worth a visit.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend and wasn't disappointed. Food was good, service could have been a bit faster but the waiting staff were attentive. Big portions, had two mezze and one main and was stuffed. The lamb chops were very good

The best hidden gem in Dundee. Just the best freshly cooked and delicious food I have had in ages and you have to try their Baba Ganoush starter it's so good. I recommend you go early or book as it was full on a Tuesday when I went.

Great Meze meal. Selections brought in 4 courses. Lovely food and vegetarian and GF options. Staff friendly and helpful and took care with asking about allergies. Very reasonable house red and white wines.

Excellent, fresh, hot food! The menu is varied with gluten-free and vegan options as well. This was one of my favorite places to eat in Dundee!

We were hugely disappointed with our meal. The only option was a 4 course meal. The cold meze was nice as was the hot meze but the next meal was a huge let down. We expected some nice juicy kebabs but all we got was 2 chicken wings and a couple of cubes of dried up chicken with a bit of salad. With 2drinks and 2 coffee the bill was a couple of pounds of £100. Was a total rip off especially after we were told you got so much meat you couldn't eat it all.

I fancied a lovely meal after our disco day clubbing session. As we were walking through Bank Street, I wondered if Tahini would be a good choice. I love Lebanese food but Mum hasn’t experienced this culinary delight, but we took a gamble and got a lovely little table for two. We were treated with kid gloves as the lovely waitress explained what was happening and what our choices were. I got a soda water and lime (lovely balance of lime and soda) and mum a room temperature Cabernet Sauvignon. We’re off to a good start. Cold and Hot Meze did not disappoint. The flavours were fresh and vibrant and zingy and deep, rich, hearty and comforting . The flavours all balanced out so well and you just kept wanting more, by the end we were getting too full to finish and glad we didn’t choose a pud, and what we didn’t expect was to be treated to the juiciest, sweetest fan of Watermelon and a cube of the most delicious Turkish delight, this delight was nothing like I’ve ever tasted before the Rose flavour was beautiful and strong but not overpowering. It ended the meal perfectly. Mum loved her meal and said she would like to visit again, Yay. The atmosphere and decor was just adorable. Loved, loved our dining experience. Thank you to the staff for the warmest welcome and we shall see you again soon. 10/10 Highly recommend

What a place .found it in the morning while walking in Dundee. We had dinner there later, and I met the owner ..fab

not as good as it used to be. like most places it has went downhill and the chicken shawarma was dry and it was obvious it had been cooked in a pan and not on a rotisserie as it's meant to be. the sauces are also shop bought and far too sweet. Shame

We ordered the set menu. It arrived so quickly, like within 10-15 minutes. That's fine, but the food was so cold. The cold mezes were fab, but there was no warmth to the hot mezes or mixed grill. it just ruined it. £40 odd quid for a takeaway is a lot of money but we decided to splash out and treat ourselves for a special occasion. I'd rather wait an hour for hot, quality food, than have it cold within 15 minutes. the quality of the meat wasn't great either, chewy with bad bits.

Only recently discovered Tahini. Actually made a booking due to walking past and the smell emanating from there was delicious. So glad I did! Tonight was my second visit in a month. Absolutely outstanding! Food was tremendous. Servers went above and beyond. Felt so welcomed and looked after, couldn't do enough for us. Couldn't manage to finish the set meal so have leftovers for tomorrow. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. Hidden gem!

High quality, tasty, and always reliable - Tahini is a stalwart in this city where options for dining out are worryingly slim. Luckily, you can always count on a visit to Tahini to get great service, great food and you'll leave feeling stuffed to the gills!

Not great. Chicken shawarma was average,nothing to write home about. halloumi tastes like it'd been frozen, stuffed vine leafs were bitter to taste, bread was nice, dips had been murdered by garlic. Not worth the money I paid for it.

Without exaggeration, this was the nicest, most satisfyingly tasty and reasonably-priced dining experience my wife and I have had in years…potentially ever. Looking forward to the next visit! Special thanks to Lori, (Tahini’s manager), who is outstanding.

The hot chocolate itself was of a fair quality, the froth was quite reasonably done, and the temperature being admirably hot, albeit the overall chocolatiness was perhaps lacking, with the consistency being passable. Overall a 5.5/10, however the added watermelon and blueberries were very nice 😁

Quite disappointing, I ordered the set menu and found the meat quite dry, hadn't been cooked on a charcoal grill as expected. The same two spice blends had been used in most of the dishes. So, not much variety in flavours for a tapas style dinner.
