Since my boyfriend took me for the first time in October last year, I genuinely think I’ve been over 10 times. We’ve taken family, friends and been the 2 of us many times and have never been left disappointed. Having family from Cyprus, and visited there many times, the food here is honestly sensational. I had a look on TripAdvisor before our latest visit, at the weekend and was shocked to find negative comments. However, our experience at the weekend and every other time is nothing by replicate of the reviews. Please go and try the restaurant and let them change your mind, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Everything from the food, to the atmosphere, to the experience and the staff is incredible. It has now come to the point my family won’t eat anywhere else when visiting me in Dundee.

Having read recent reviews, which seemed to be against previous good ratings, we decided to book a table whilst we were in the local area on business. Having spent a few years in the Med, I had expectations of what the food and service should be like. I must say we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly, courteous and despite a busy service were always attentive. A selection of starters and mains were ordered and we asked for them to just come as they were ready. A steady stream of fresh and tasty food came as it was prepared, and at no time did we not have something delicious in front of us to sample. Everything was fresh, of a healthy portion size and left us extremely satisfied. If I am ever to be in the area again, I shall definitely be going back.

I was with Michael and his girlfriend Sunday night and was just as shocked as he was with the service. When we ordered starters, it wasn’t explained to us that the kitchen was closing at 8 o’clock (8 o’clock!) and that we’d have to take care to order everything before then. Michael asked for some bread and more starters at 7.59 and was refused with the excuse that the kitchen would close at 8. Seriously, what restaurant can’t offer their customers food at 8 o’clock? Feeling like we’d been caught in a farce or an April Fool’s joke, Michael’s girlfriend tried to reason with the stony faced, indifferent waitress, explaining that we were there for a birthday celebration and didn’t really want to leave. But the appeal fell on deaf ears. There would be no bread, no food and no apology for us. When we made to leave, the indifference was so complete that we wondered if she was pleased that we were going. I see from other reviews that you’ve had customers lose their tempers. This doesn’t surprise me. We were bewildered and upset rather than angry, and just calmly left and didn’t pay because the restaurant didn’t provide service. We didn’t get fed properly and were treated like dirt. Having lived in Scotland for 6 years, I’ve got used to a much higher standard of hospitality than in London where people are used to rubbish service and horrible staff. But even in the worst restaurants in London, food is served at 8 o’clock.

Short version: the whole experience was like something out of Fawlty Towers! We walked out halfway through and when we approached the only FOH member of staff to tell her why she turned her back and walked away from us!! Stay away unless you want to be treated with contempt and Basil Fawlty-like customer service. The brazen rudeness and complete absence of care for customer service suggests to me that this staff member is supported by the owners of Andreou’s to behave like this - indeed I expect that this review will be responded to in support of her version of the story and not ours. Long version: we had eaten at Andreou’s in early October last year and had a fantastic meal with excellent service and really delicious food. I recommended it to many people and was really looking forward to returning to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and a friend. The evening of our booking (which was made for 7pm) my boyfriend was contacted to ask if we were still coming for our booking at 6pm. Surprised, he rang to say that we had booked for 7pm and that we would be arriving then. The woman on the phone implied that he was lying and huffed that we could come at 7 anyway and hung up. At this point my boyfriend wanted to cancel the booking and go elsewhere but I was insistent we go - we had made a plan with a friend and I wanted to eat at Andreou’s after such a good previous meal. When we arrived we weren’t shown to our table as you would expect but told where it was and that our friend had arrived. We sat down and then received very good service until we had placed our food order. Our starters arrived and it quickly became apparent that we hadn’t ordered enough food and that if we were to leave satisfied we would need to order more. We also wanted to order drinks. The same staff member was busying herself everywhere around us (clearing another table, walking to and fro between a back room and the front bar and serving another table) and completely ignoring us. Eventually my boyfriend got up and walked to the bar to ask to order more food. When he returned a few minutes later it was to pass on the message that the kitchen was closed and we couldn’t order anything more. We honestly thought this was a joke! I sent him back - surely not?! I looked at the table behind us who hadn’t received their food yet and thought of our mains - the kitchen couldn’t possibly be closed if they were still cooking our food! He returned again: we couldn’t order any more food. It was now about 8pm. Incredulous, I went to the bar myself to speak to the server and ask how this was possible. She responded that “the kitchen always closes at 8”. I asked how we were to know that, and should she not have informed us of that when we were ordering so that we ordered plenty? She responded that the kitchen always closes at 8. Again, I said that there was no way for us to know that and that all kitchens inform staff who inform customers that the kitchen is closing and check if they want to order anything else before it does and that this had not happened. I pointed out that there were clearly staff in the kitchen and that they were still preparing food, so could some bread and dips not be prepared and brought to our table? No, she said, it would be at least 40 minutes before they could come out if she put the order in as the kitchen was so busy preparing takeaway meals (as indeed, I could see they were, however I have worked in kitchens and know that this was something that a properly staffed and run kitchen would easily be able to prepare and serve in a timely manner, just as it should have been able to cope with us ordering more starters if we had wanted). She showed me the takeaway orders that had come in and said that the kitchen had five checks on and couldn’t serve us. I asked her why takeaways were taking priority over customers seated at tables right there in the restaurant. I don’t remember the response but it was certainly a strange situation to be standing at a bar in a restaurant that has recently won a nationwide award, begging for some bread and dips to be prepared for us - is that the kind of experience you wish to have when you go out for a meal as a paying customer? I also asked her what this experience would look like as a review on Trip Advisor and she indicated that she couldn’t care less. I also said that I would be contacting the owners. Again, she indicated that she couldn’t care less. This attitude and the response that the owners have left to previous negative reviews suggests to me that they are OK with running their business like this. At this point we decided to leave. There was no redeeming this meal and I was very upset by the disappointing experience and the rudeness with which I was treated, especially on my birthday. Uncomfortable with just leaving without paying or without saying anything we approached the server to tell her that we were leaving. As she completely ignored us and then turned her back and walked immediately and quickly away to the rear of the room we had been sitting in, any thought of leaving payment vanished from our minds (I know from reading previous reviews that Andreou’s will say this is theft. However, this experience and the treatment we received was upsetting and infuriating enough without the insult of paying for it. I expect most reasonable people reading this review will agree and can see that we were not the first to walk out. Should we have pursued the server, begging for our bill as we had begged for our extra food order to be placed in the kitchen?). Honestly, this whole experience remains totally incomprehensible to me and I cannot understand why anyone would allow their small family business which they are clearly very proud of to be run this way. Krima, ine. Such a shame.

I had a table booked for 7pm and received a message at 6:10pm to ask if I was still coming, it transpired that they had put us down for 6 by mistake. No problem at all. But when I called up to rectify it, to my surprise, I was met by a very rude woman who insisted it was my mistake. She eventually said 7 is fine and hung up on me! I was about to call back and tell them to get stuffed but my girlfriend insisted we still go as we were short for time and meeting a friend there. I think it was the same lady who then served us; very rude and dismissive. Her name is Rebecca. Our starters and drinks arrived and we decided to order some dips and bread. She told me the kitchen was closed! I looked at my phone and it was just before 8. She said they were prioritising takeaways now! Her attitude was so bad I thought it was an April fools joke. She was then rude to my girlfriend. That was pretty much the last straw for all three of us, we just got up and left. Never in our lives have we had to do that before. My 30 weeks pregnant girlfriend, who's birthday it was, was in tears. I told the lady why we were leaving and she didn't even seem interested. Bizarre. We walked down the road to Milas, where the food and customer service was impeccable. As a member of the Greek community in the area I'll be deterring anyone from going to this establishment.

After hearing good things about this place, we finally decided to go. We were very disappointed! It took an hour after our starters for the main course to come. We had ordered chicken and hiloumi gyros, only to find when it was finally served NO hiloumi. Okay they took a £ off all our meals. Big deal!! The restaurant was very smoky and we could smell it on our clothes when we came home. The food itself was lukewarm when it arrived and very mediocre. We definitely won't be back.

We’d heard good reviews about this restaurant but were very disappointed with the whole experience. Good things - staff were friendly and efficient, drinks reasonably priced. Bad things - food was bland, most of meal consisting of bread, advertised skewers weren’t skewers, it was a bit of chicken with, yes you’ve guessed it - bread!!. Very open plan so noisy. Won’t bother returning, better places to go in central Dundee

What a shame about the service in this restaurant which has so much potential. The food is mostly delicious but the quality of the experience overall was very poor. Slow and bordering on neglectful service as other reviewers have already noted. Not prepared to listen to any negative feedback and no manager available to communicate with. Since our visit I have received some very unprofessional email communication with no indication of the role or responsibilities of the staff member writing to me. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone despite having now visited three times.

Eventually tried this restaurant after wanting to try here for awhile after all of the rave reviews, to which I was slightly disappointed. Asked for a strawberry daiquiri, and was advised they don’t have any. Then asked for a pina colada, the waitress came back and advised us that they couldn’t do this as the coconut milk was out of date!! How they couldn’t just have went to Tesco’s for more I don’t know, especially with this being a Saturday night and they did not have two of the most popular cocktails available. The waitress said she could make any other cocktail, but their blender was pretty rubbish!!! She then went for a raspberry mojito, to which it certainly didn’t look like this, it looked more blackcurrant in colour and had hardly any ice, so much so my friend had to ask for more ice. If you do visit here don’t have the cocktails. The food was tasty enough,. The service was average. It was also cold in the restaurant . I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.

Authentic Greek food served in a quaint unpretentious restaurant. The starters and the mains were of generous portions and well presented, at affordable rates. There was faint traditional music in the background and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Its not got an over abundance of fancy kerb appeal and they need to play more traditional music - but the quality of food more than makes up for it. Friendly, helpfull staff. I am a new city resident born and raised in Greece but living in the UK for the past 8 years. As in my previous location (Hull), I was keen to explore the Greek restaurants in town and started with Andreou's on a Saturday afternoon. Mistake1: the shop is obviously orientated to dinning as the menu for lunch was super limited with just one pie available and gyros wrap, and the eating area downstairs was not even prepared for customers. Suggestion1: If you are not keen to serve lunch just let people know you are only providing take-away food. Mistake2: Gyros means something very specific....it is NOT precooked-in-oven chunks of meat in marinade put inside a pita. Also gyros is usually pork meet, not solely chicken meet. The wrap was not edible...at least not by Greeks who know what it should taste like. Both myself and my wife left it untouched! Suggestion2: If this is THE ONLY meet plate in the menu and you charge 8 pounds, make it good! It is not a food that requires a Greek cook and I dont mind at all that the kitchen personel were not from Greece... but at least they should know the recipy. Mistake3: No plates/glasses were provided....making us feel like we were sitting on a bench outside a canteen. The wraps were in a take-away form. Similarly people in the next table were eating pies without plates. Suggestion3: If you want people to feel comfortable provide them with a proper eating atmosphere dont make them feel cheap or unwellcome. Otherwise go to Suggestion1. Mistake4: We had our 15month old baby with us and there was NOTHING in the limited menu that he could eat. I am not asking for a separate kids menu ...just for a couple of dishes that are kid-friendly. Since you had a high-chair for the baby someone would assume there would also be food for kids! POSITIVE POINT: The cook was kind enough to prepare some chips for our kid. However...chips were not supposed to be in the menu....chips.... in a greek restaurant....with gyros....chips....not in the menu!!! Suggestion4: If you want families to visit you need a family-friendly menu. Mistake5: Although the serving was fine and the waiter was kind....it is customary to ask the customer if he/she enjoyed the food. In fact, at least in Greece, if the customer hasn't eaten the food he/she doesnt pay for it. Suggestion5: Do not be afraid of comments and make sure that your customers receive attention especially if they seem unwiling to consume the food. I would never ask not to pay but paying without eating is frustrating. OVERALL: This was a bad experience for the family. I understand that as a Greek I may have had specific expectations, yet, a Greek restaurant is not just a greek-decorated room with traditional chairs and pictures of the islands. A Greek restaurant serves proper tasty well-cooked Greek food and what we attempted to eat today WAS NOT at all Greek. Combined with a rather sad and cheap interior, the chances of a good experience are rather slim. No matter how keen I was to promote anything Greek via word of mouth...my visit today will probably have an adverse effect in my cycle.

A very Good place to taste Mediterranean food. The service was very Good and in a very convenient place in the center of Dundee next to a big parking lot. I highly recommend it.

We went early, when only the Caffè was open but the great selection of pies and coffee was more than enough to enjoy! Try the feta cheese bougatsa and you will not regret it! Will definitely return to have dinner at the restaurant!

After reading mainly positive reviews we decided to try out this new Greek style eatery. It's a weird layout, perhaps down to the previous use of the building, whereby you wander round the bar to get to the restaurant area, depending on which entrance you use. Despite the place not looking that just, we had to wait a while before being shown our seats. The haphazard layout continues in the main seating area with a disjointed array of basic wooden tables & chairs. Our seats were not the greatest as we discovered, with the restaurant being not exactly warm anyway, we caught a significant draft from the door which was left open frequently by waitresses. The decor is as you'd expect I suppose, with plain whitewash walls with the occasional painting and the typical Greek blue accents. It took an age to get offered a drink and longer to get it served. The menu is a little confusing to the uninitiated, with what Greeks refer to as Street food (gyros) scattered amongst grilled meats, hot and cold meze. We had the flatbread with dips weighing in at an impressive asking price of 6.50 for what was a couple of pitta bread slices, a dozen poor quality olives, shop-bought hummus and something masquerading as aoili. The gyros were decent, but at a tenner a pop, were much more expensive than you'd think justified. We barely got change out of £60 with the bottle of plonk included. Not great. Service is somewhat lacking, can only guess this is down to inexperienced staff and the place being new, or a combination of both. Another opportunity missed to pep-up Dundee's incredibly mediocre restaurant scene missed.

Superb food, really authentic, brilliantly cooked and supremely flavoursome. Baklava is to die for, souvlaki cooked over a charcoal grill might be the best outside of the Greek islands.

We went here prior to a show. We explained upon arrival that we had a fixed time we had to leave by and the staff said that would be no problem. The menu looked good and we were looking forward to eating what we had ordered. Our starters arrived about 45 mins after sitting down. We again reminded them of our fixed time. Our food will be out in 5 mins, clearly a lie. The mains never turned up and in the end we just paid for the drinks and left. A real shame, could have been great but bad kitchen management and unqualified staff lead to this being a rather unpleasant experience. Would not recommend at all

Really really tasty. So happy to have another good restaurant in Dundee. Their food was really good, nice drinks and good service. Obviously attentive to detail. The only reason for 4 and not 5 star is that our bill was wrong by a good deal do to their payment system malfunctioning so I’m glad we caught the discrepancy. We’ll definitely be coming back here and supporting this business.

The 4 course meze menu is immense. Both the cold and hot meze were superb. Generous portion sizes and attentive staff.
