Gallery 48 in Dundee City

Phenomenal food, very fresh and varied menu, small plates were beautifully cooked and it was delicious. We had the chipirones, crab stuffed peppers, chickpea stew, honeyed aubergine, and bread with aioli. Portion sizes were quite generous and it was a lovely lunch!

Gallery 48 is a gem. Incredible creative food. Cool environment. Friendly but professional service. It is our Favourite way to treat ourselves!!

Absolutely lovely place, with some very friendly and welcoming staff, and seriously delicious food - very good portion sizes too! Learned while I was there that for 2 members of my party they had (separately) had years ago had their first dates with their respective long-term partners there - and I could see why: very swish and pretty-looking interior, yet relaxed and spacious between tables, and busy, too, so it had a lovely vibe as well as great food. Will definitely go back!

Arrived to take up a booking for 3. Placed at a huge table set for 2. Table dirty. Waited ages for any kind of service. None forthcoming. No drinks,nothing. Staff appeared not to care. I'm not stupid enough to pay money for abysmal service. These people are taking the mick!

Fabulous tapas, all freshly cooked, and great service. And in a interesting venue. Nicely varied menu - and a delicious pudding (beautifully light almond and meringue cake)!

Had lunch here yesterday and it’s a very mixed review. My friend and I have eaten here 4 times in the last year and it’s always been excellent. Yesterday we ordered 3 tapas each (as we always do) and when the 2nd one came out after waiting 20 mins for both dishes we asked if they could come out together, as has always been the case before. Unfortunately this time both dishes served were mine and so was awkward with my friend not having any of hers yet! The lady we asked informed us ‘we should have asked for that when ordering’ and proceeded to tell us the kitchen can’t deal with that normally as it’s tiny and there are only 2 chefs. We said it hadn’t been a problem before and we were told ‘we must have been lucky’. She then told us she was the owner and continued to quite rudely tell us that’s not what they do. She agreed to ask the kitchen to see if they could assist. She wouldn’t let it go and I was borderline tempted to ask her to stop telling us why we were a problem and just see if the kitchen could help… I don’t appreciate being lectured. It REALLY soured the experience. That said the food then did come out together and was delicious, as it always has been. After we had finished our dishes we asked the server if we could see the pudding and coffee menu - it didn’t appear. After 20 mins we just settled the bill and left. Pointed out to the same chap when settling up we hadn’t seen the puds and he just shrugged and took the money! Sadly the attitude is enough for us not to return.

Our visit was so disappointing yesterday. We were seated right away at our table which we had reserved. After this we were ignored for 25 minutes whilst other tables were served and cleared. I eventually went up to the bar to ask for a drink. The waiter proceeded to then bring one drink over. Since there were two of us at the table, would the waiter not have noticed when he put one drink down on our table and walked away? 😂 I called him back and said I had ordered two and he did look quite surprised at that 😂 We then managed to order some food. £5.80 for a portion of garlic mushrooms which were served in a tiny ramekin. Absolute rip off. This bill cost us £92. Whilst I was in the toilet before we left, my friend decided it would be a good idea to give them an £8 tip and round the bill up to £100. If I had known she was going to do this I would have stepped in because I really don't think the service deserved £8 tip! The food was ok in general, however, it used to be better. It's now extremely expensive for what it is. Which is nothing much. I don't think we'll be back which is a shame as I used to rave about this place!

We booked a Brunch for 8 of us to surprise our friend who is expecting her first baby soon. Can’t recommend Gallery 48 enough for this type of occasion, the staff were amazing. We’ve all been a few times for dinner but this was our first time trying the breakfast menu and it was sooo good and so affordable as well. We booked another table for in 2 weeks time so we can come back again!

Los miembros del personal eran eficientes, amables y en la pelota ... también parecía que disfrutaban de su trabajo, que es agradable de ver! Sin duda volveré cuando vuelva visitando a su hija en Dundee.

Restaurante reservado para una comida previa al concierto con la familia. Realmente disfruté del ambiente relajado y excelentes tapas. Gran menú de tapas. Lo más destacado para nosotros fueron las croquetas de hongos, que estaban deliciosos. El personal era muy amable. Definitivamente volveré.

Realmente decepcionante, la comida se servía a razón de 2 platos por 20 minutos entre 6 de nosotros y nos dijeron que esto era lo que tapas era ? ? Lo siento pero sabemos lo que es tapas y no es sentarse a morir de hambre compartiendo 1 o 2 platos entre 6 personas y una de la fiesta esperando una hora en su primer plato! El lugar estaba sucio, los baños eran aún peor, así que en necesidad de una limpieza profunda y un poco de pintura! No volveré.

We made a last minute booking on the phone and the staff were great to find a slot to squeeze us in!

Visited today with friends for lunch .Nice interior light and bright, we were greeted and seated quickly and given water while be decided what to order .we were given just the right time to chose and order . There were 4 of us so we ordered a jug of sangria , soft drinks and 9 different dishes with 2 of most so we would have enough to share . The food started coming out quickly and over about 10 mins we had all the dishes which were all delicious, fresh and got . The highlights were the garlic bread , garlic mushrooms , bravates with mangchero and truffle oil and the black pudding croquettes with aioli . All the other dishes were first class as well , we ended up ordering extra bread just to mop up what was left of the amazing sauces . We all felt the garlic bread was the best we’d ever had , they make it fresh on site . We finished with great quality coffee. The service was friendly , quick and efficient. The bill came to £160 which we felt was worth it and great value considering the jug of sangria which equated to 6 glasses , the amount of dishes we had plus coffee . Would highly recommended for couples too and occasions

Wonderful experience. Walls are covered with amazing art and the food is delicious. Staff friendly and very attentive. Not cheap, unless you go for the best value lunch. Soup and a huge sandwich for less than £8! But the tapas is great …. Aubergine and honey …. Chorizo and black pudding. Great value - best in Dundee

I came here with 1 of my friends & I will definitely be back I found quite a few dishes for me being vegan, I left full & happy. The chickpea stew was 100% my favourite.

Just want to give a huge shout out to all the staff working on December 7th. We had our ‘friendsmas’ dinner at Gallery 48 for the second year in a row and it was fantastic. Food 10/10 and service was beyond exceptional. Manager went out of her way to sort our table out with a specific cocktail they had on their menu the year before ( which she didn’t have to do, but did ) which just made the night all that bit better. Big love to all of you, thank you again for providing such a great night!

Decent food, if a little pricey, but expect to wait half an hour or more between small plates being served - to the point where half of your party may be finished before the other half has even started. Iffy honestly. You're mostly paying for the trendy "ambience."

Nice atmosphere and lovely tapas... although some portions were very small for the price. Unfortunately on the most recent visit the service was very slow and we had to remind staff of our order several times. They serve each dish when it's ready, but this meant we would get one dish, eat it and then wait (sometimes for over 10 minutes) for the next one. This was a shame as we wanted to enjoy the dishes together.

We made a last minute booking on the phone and the staff were great to find a slot to squeeze us in! I have previously not had good experiences with Tapas, but this restaurant was excellent. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour and a great size. I would recommend going with 3-4 people as an ideal group size to share all of the plates. The restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere that felt like a genuinely good and friendly place to eat!

Lovely place and nice welcome. However, had to wait for 40 minutes for eggs Benedict. They had forgotten our order. We were not the only couple to have experienced it as I heard another couple complain . When the waitress did arrive, it was the wrong order It maybe a one off but there was several tables needing cleared too. Probably arrived at a busy time but that's for the restaurant to sort out.

Breakfast visit. Lots of cluttered tables on arrival - limited staff initially. Table was cleared but chairs and underside of table was sticky and service was slow. When food arrived it was all at different times and food was lukewarm. Usually rave about this place but was left disappointed this time.

Nice aesthetic atmosphere for this local spot. This was lunch for 2. However, aside from the decent service, the overall experience was lower than I expected. The food was mediocre at best, but had a resounding aura of meh. I had a hot sandwich with a soup, which wasn't offensive in any way but wasn't special either. The "manchego" was supplemented by what seemed to be mozzarella. The other person I was with got the goats cheese, fresh fig and honey salad. This was abysmal. I'm guessing the previous day they had forgot to order just about everything as the salad was 70% goats cheese, 20% salad and 10%... Marmalade?? I just wish the foh staff would at least inform customers of the substitution. The atmosphere was also dulled by music that was a little too loud which resulted in us talking pretty loud to be able to hear each other. Tldr - please inform your customers.

Tasty coffee, delicious food and super friendly service.

We went there for a dinner and the place was quite. Got seated quickly and liked the small fairly lights decor they have going Food: the garlic bread:was ok so 2.5/5 they could have done better Chickpeas was like eating something out of the can 1/5 Pataata bravas was good for our palate but lacked the Mexican punch 3/5 Veg croquettes were quite tasty 4/5 Regular bread was good 4/5 Dips with bread: the garlic one was fine but Mojo Picon was average and seemed old Chorizo was ok Tender stem broccoli were average Now about the drinks We loved reach one of them especially the coffee cocktail . So full marks for drinks although they took a long time to come.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was mixed. We had 6 dishes, 4 very good and 2 bad . We did complain and one of the dishes was removed from the bill so fair play for that. Don’t think I would go back.

Spanish and Middle Eastern small plates and excellent wines, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available. Recommend the delicious tapas of Catalan Spinach, the fig and Goat Cheese salad and the Aubergine. It was a very quiet day, with few tables occupied and 4 waitresses, but apparently only one in active duty, the order were taken after a long wait. Nice atmosphere with art books to peruse during the wait and fresh flowers and candles on the tables. Lovely cool Mesta wine.

We had a lovely lunch here while attending a conference at the university. We especially loved the mushrooms but everything was very good and the servers were charming

Nice choice to eat in Dundee during our weekend away. Out of the centre and towards the University. Good choice of tapas and at a reasonable price. Only the tuna was disappointing for us.

Brought out all of one persons meal then slowly bits and bobs of the other party. Kitchen forgot about half of the food. Menu does not accurately describe what you are getting- meatballs are caked in nuts, chorizo and manchego is a stew with many other things in it. Menu just does not tell you what you are getting at all, what is in anything or what format you are being served it in.

A 5 minute walk uphill from the Overgate centre this lovely bistro is well worth a visit. The staff are very professional and attentive. It has a lovely ambiance and the tapas were delicious. The chicken skewers especially was outstanding.

We go there every Friday for coffee and have found the staff welcoming and pleasant. At any time we have bought food it has been very enjoyable and well presented. I would recommend unreservedly.

Really great find in the centre of Dundee. Food was very good, decent amount of choice for all tastes. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Only slight downside is very cramped, small tables for a proper Tapas experience. Staff struggling to get by our table throughout the night due to layout. By far the worst experience we’ve ever had in a restaurant!! We booked a table a couple of weeks in advance for our visit to Dundee. On arrival we eventually were shown to our table & ordered drinks which arrived quickly. We were then ready to order food & we ordered four dishes between us. The first two arrived swiftly & they were mediocre at best, then we waited…..& waited & waited. After 25 minutes we eventually managed to get a member of staff to our table & asked where the rest of our order was, he went away to check. We then waited another ten minutes before a manager came over & offered us bread & olives. Id rather have my order please! At this point we realized that going there was a waste of our time & money, so asked for the bill. I wasn’t surprised to see that we had still been charged for our “half a meal experience”. On returning home (Sunday), my wife sent an email of complaint to the restaurant. It now seems that not only can they not serve food, but are unable to reply to emails aswell.

Pooed in here by chance and what a find. Lovely tapas food in a cool setting. Great food. Nice staff. Will defo be back. Had a selection :- croquettes, and tortilla were excellent.

It is supposed to be Spanish but not even the letter is well translated. The prices are exaggerated for such small tapas. We ordered a chorizo ​​with Manchego cheese and it didn't even have cheese and it was blood sausage. Also, it took a long time for the dishes to arrive.

The food here is so good, I loved it all, but especially the Patatas deluxe and the goats cheese. The service was lovely and food was ready in mere minutes. Definitely going again!!

The staff and atmosphere were GREAT. The food was alright, but sadly what was disappointing was that the food was brought to the table randomly in drips and drabs. I accept this may be a personal preference but I really dislike food being brought out one at a time randomly rather than brought out as a whole where all the guests can have their meals together jointly. But, to be fair, the staff were WONDERFUL and made up for any inadequacies.

Service was woeful. No offer of drinks when we arrived. Eventually got someone's attention then another 10 minutes to he served them. Another 20 minutes to get attention to order food. Then 20 minutes to wait for it, a cheese platter & a meat plater bothe over-priced for what they were. Another lengthy period of time to wait for our next drink. We were then reminded (respectfully) that our table was require in 10 minutes. Maybe if your service was better we would have been.finished on time. Won't be back

We just love it at gallery 48, we’ve been so many times now. The pil pil is always my go too! So tasty! Staff are always great, Gavin is our Absoloute favourite!!! He just makes every visit great, makes the most fabulous cocktails! If you go you must try the patas Bravas! Incredible

1st time here and we will come back. The place was nicely decorated with prints from local artists to buy and tables were a mix of tall and normal height. It was busy for a Sunday night with a mixture of all Ages. We went for 3 tapas each and a cheeseboard and sangria. The food was lovely and the staff was very friendly and attentive.

We arrived at 245, the restaurant wasn't overly busy, about 10+ free tables. The waitress arrived, explained what was sold out, then took our orders. As we were waiting we seen staff returning from the local shops with 6 tubs of cream cheese. Half an hour after we ordered, someone came out and explained that the soup we had ordered had run out. We took the alternative, although we were confused why it took 30 minutes to figure this out. At 40 minutes gone, I asked waiter why it was taking so long, he said it was it busy. It wasn't. I then was served my food, 5 minutes later I approached the desk asking what was happening with my partners food, they said they had sent someone out to the shops to get some salmon for us. We cancelled the salmon and ate what we had, as an apology from the restaurant they took the salmon off our bill(which we didn't even get). Last time we went to this restaurant we thought it was great, we won't be going back this time. Utterly shocking service, and it looks like a lot of stuff on the menu is from lidl! (the member of staff arrived back with a full bag of shopping, probably including the salmon!)

We've been here twice before, and always enjoyed it. The service was good and the food was really tasty. However, I hate to say, the restaurant needs a deep clean and a few coats of paint here and there. Two first impressions; the glasses were covered in fingerprints and the menus have clearly seen better days. Such a shame as the finer details really let it down.

We visited Gallery 48 during a recent trip to Dundee. I had noticed there were a few offers available on It is On, so bought 2 vouchers. One for 3 tapas and a jug of Sangria and another for 3 tapas. We visited for dinner on Sunday evening. The menu was very varied and all dishes and the Sangria was delicious. When we paid the bill we were advised the itison deal did not start until the following day, however the staff member said they would accept it. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely visit Gallery 48 when we are next in Dundee.

Extremely disappointed with the service during our visit yesterday lunch time. We visit every year when family come to visit and I also come various times throughout the year. Normally thoroughly enjoyed and never have any complaints. From the minute I stepped foot in the door it was a disappointment. I stood waiting to be seen and shown to my table, staff all standing chatting behind the bar. When I eventually approached the bar after nobody coming over I was told “it’s that table over there” a point across the restaurant, not the usual friendly service… The rest of my party joined me and we sat for 15mins waiting for someone to come and take at least a drinks order. Again we had to approach the bar and ask someone to come over. To which we were greeted with a frosty waitress with her notepad. I have to say the food was delicious as always it’s just disappointing to be served by moody staff members. This was not just limited to one person, there were at least 3 who would all prefer to just stand round chatting. We were never approached to ask if we would like any further drinks throughout our meal. So we all only had 1 drink the whole time. Tables around us were also left uncleaned for long periods of time after diners left. We approached the bar again to ask for our bill! Surprisingly the quickest they returned to the table was straight away with the card machine. Thoroughly disappointing and I have to admit we will consider other venues over here for our next family get together.

What could have been a mediocre review was turned round by the quality of the food and the attention from Gavin. The broccoli, crab piquillo peppers and chorizo/black pudding were excellent. Gavin's knowledge of the ingredients were second to none and his passion for the food was clear. Thank you for looking after us and for the really interesting conversation Gavin.

Amazing food and service, can get really loud due to the acoustics when it's busy

Very busy and food wasn't as good as our last visit. Claggy tomato sauce on the meatballs and less attention to detail. Very average but decently priced. Please ask when folk book, if they are able to get on the high chairs. Some of us are not and it messes with the seating plan
