We just turned up for Sunday lunches, and what a treat it was. The choice of vegetables and meat was outstanding and service to match. Will definitely be back.

The main food was fabulous. Two out of 3 of the puddings were good, with the exception of a lemon tart pudding. However, we found the young manager to be very condescending, verging on the point of being quite rude. He missed 2 things off our order which didn't really matter, but he dismissed our comments about the lemon pudding, by saying that no one else had complained. A lesson in customer care is required for this young man.....

Excellent food and helpful staff advising on the correct amount of food to order. We had the lamb filo, grilled pork, manchego bites, piquillo pil-pil with patatas bravas and bread. Perfect!

Food was amazing however quite expensive, worth it, the sever we had was amazing, very professorial, good etiquette, amazing job

We were visiting the area for a couple of days. Came across this beautiful Tapas restaurant. It was a Tuesday but we still booked . The food was amazing. The young member of staff was so pleasant and helpful nothing was to much trouble for him.

An absolutely amazing place....

Saw the reviews on here and made a point to go - they were short staffed the first time we went but the waitress went above and beyond. The food was excellent - the first time we had the Serrano ham platter, the lemon and salt prawns, the pork, Brie and cranberry and the octopus which was the best of an excellent selection. So good we went back again and would have gone a third time but we didn’t book - so good tip especially on Fridays is to book in advance!

Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Ffion went above and beyond! Made our evening wonderful. Will be back!

A lovely dining experience. Great food at easily the best restaurant in town. We had a selection of dishes and each was excellent. Surroundings were lovely and staff were friendly and attentive. Also great value for money. Such a shame we only went on the last night of our break as without doubt we would have been here every night to further sample this excellent food.

11 of us booked a table on a Saturday evning, for a family re-union. Despite being very busy, with another large group booking as well, the service was impeccable - polite, hepful and fast. The food was unbeatable - everything was delicious, from the green leaf salad side to the seafood paella and many different tapas. We had a wonderful evening - thanks guys!

This is a wonderful place! Great ambience, lovely friendly staff, genuinely dog and disabled friendly, but most importantly the most delicious Spanish food I have had outside Spain! Everything we had was delicious - we had a selection of Tapas on the first night, which was all so good we went back for a Paella 2 nights later :) We were not disappointed! The chef even came out to speak to us and offer us some nibbles while we waited for it to be cooked ;) It was worth the wait! Do book, as it soon gets full.

First time trying this place and no regrets! Your young lad serving was fantastic, very knowledgeable, quick and all round great! Look after him 🙏 We shared a few dishes between four of us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Will visit again!

Got to say, I am not a tapas meal bloke. Tapas is always on the bottom of the list....but this restaurant was excellant. Really good choice of options, meat, fish and veggie. Very well put together. And each dish was a decent size and not like some where it fits on a tea plate. Welsh lamb in filo pastry was awesome and highly recommended. We had 3 dishes, two sides and it worked well. Lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Really friendly staff who catered for a large group at short notice, and were kind enough to let us bring our own birthday cake and brought it out. The paella was delicious, and presented very well. The chicken fajita tacos were also fab! Thanks :)

Had the best Sunday dinner carvery ever. Turkey, pork, beef, gammon and lamb were served in generous portions with a large selection of tasty, perfectly cooked vegetables to help yourself to. Potato dauphinois, Yorkshire puddings, meat stuffing, crackling, red wine braised red cabbage, carrot and swede, cauliflower cheese, mustard leeks, pigs in blankets, carrots, broccoli, roast and mash potatoes, cabbage and bacon and 3 types of gravy+sauces. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area.

Staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble, food is outstanding, the quality and care taken. Going back in a few days.

We had dinner here on our first night staying near Dolgellau. The tapas was beautiful, we had about 6 or 7 dishes between us and it was more than enough. The lad who served us was very helpful, friendly and very attentive. Would definitely return if we were in the area.

Wow... stumbled upon this wonderful place whilst walking around Dolgellau. Stopped to look at the menu and saw that they did a Sunday carvery. Watched the chef fill the trays with the freshly cooked vegetables. Thought we'd give it a go without regrets. Food was cooked to perfection, which included a choice of 5 meats. The chef/owner came to ask if everything was OK and he stayed for a chat. He was very friendly as was the barmaid.... Definitely recommend this place for Sunday lunch

Had a lovely night here, staff were excellent, friendly and quick, without feeling at all rushed. Food was fantastic, a good combination of tapas style dishes,with a couple of twists thrown in (the Welsh lamb parcel was very tasty indeed). If you are in the area I would definitely suggest heading here.

Staff here are lovely and attentive. Food was delicious. Highly recommend but would advise booking as it’s clearly very popular!

Saturday night, 6pm we sit down, no paella or olives available, not funny. Waiter missed 3 of our dishes off order, no apology from him, he blamed us for it not being on the order... really! The prawns were good, everything else was OK. Maybe the paella is nice, I'll never know.

We had a very disappointing experience this evening, particularly with the service from the staff. What was meant to be a nice birthday meal out was awkward, disappointing and unapologetic. It is a real shame as the food was really quite nice but it was tainted by long delays and a lack of transparency from the staff as to what was available on the night. 1. We had a bit of a frosty welcome and had barely just sat ourselves down as a group before being asked what drinks we would like 2. Once all our drinks arrived, we were told the specials but nobody told us that the paella was not available which is one of the main things that made us book and makes up a third of the menu 3. We had a different waiter come to take our order at which point he told us about the paella not being available so we had to have more time to think about it. There was no explanation given from him as to why it wasn't available. 4. We all ordered our tapas dishes with the same waiter however once the food came out it was clear that three dishes had been missed off the order which left two of our party having to wait another 15-20mins for their other tapas. The waiter proceeded to accuse us of having not ordered them in the first place and offered no form of an apology or acknowledgement that he had misunderstood some of the orders. If he had just simply said "I'm so sorry but I think there was a misunderstanding and therefore those dishes were missed off the order" would have been a much better way of dealing with the situation rather than putting fault on the customers of whom all our party had heard order their food. 5. The other three dishes eventually arrived but still no apology at all for the mistake and delay. 6. The whole time we witnessed all the customers come in, have their drinks sorted, and only then to be told that the pealla wasn't available. It started to seem like a bit of a ploy to get people to stay as they as much less likely to leave once then have a table full of drinks. Why not just be honest from the beginning, you should be telling customers as you seat them. Very dodgy tactics and not respectful of their customers

we enjoyed a great selection of meat & veggie tapas, and were hosted by two lovely members of staff & the kitchen team. a jug of sangría & contemporary Spanish tunes enlivened the atmosphere. wish we'd had room for the home-baked cheesecakes on offer!

Stayed round the corner from this place on a bank holiday weekend and was cooking a Sunday roast shop's were shut and had no veg I went in to see if I could buy some the owner loaded me a bag of freshly cooked vegetables and would not accept any money the veg was amazing I would definitely recommend this place and thank you very much to the lovely owner and staff.

We had Easter Sunday lunch/carvery, £15 each, plate was big and overflowing with goodies. I loved all the vegetables and roasties. 5 choice of meats, 3 types of gravy. Highly recommend.

Weekend away in Wales with the family. Ended up getting a last minute table here on a Friday night. Lovely atmosphere. Service impeccable. Food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Family friendly aswel, our 7 year old daughter could eat multiple dishes off the menu and the staff were lovely with her. Had a great meal and a great experience. Highly recommend the Basque cheesecake for dessert, it is gorgeous!

This place is awesome! We went in one evening and they didn’t have any vegan options because of the winter but the chef lovingly accommodated for us. Which we are so grateful for 🙏🏼 The restaurant is really well decorated and put together and has a really nice warming energy! I imagine it gets very busy in tourist season, and I highly recommend it ✨ thank you so much to the young bartender and the chef, you really made our experience of wales even better. Mucho gracias :) 🙌🏼

They went over and beyond for us. For our 25th Wedding anniversary. They set the table for us with beautiful flowers/candle and a glass of prosecco on the house. The food was absolutely amazing the seafood cooked to perfection.

The food was okay, we’ve travelled here and staying for a few nights. Eaten in quite a few tapas places now. For the area this great, prawns were amazing- the potatas braves were a let down, pretty sure they were Aunt Bessie’s roasts deep fried with some sauce on. It was however reasonably priced and all the staff were lovely and attentive. Had to ask for the bill, it wasn’t particularly busy. We didn’t have the paella, but saw them being served to others - it looked delicious and a lots of it.

Absolutely delicious food. Only problem I had was that it was a winter night and it was a bit cold inside, so dress up warm!

Average food and drinks. OK but not special enough.

Once again, Bruno and his team served up a fabulous meal. This tapas restaurant never fails to deliver exceptionally good food. The range of flavours is first class as always and the staff are always pleasant and efficient. We don’t live locally, but during our many short visits to Dolgellau we visit Tafarn y Gader as often as possible as a great meal is guaranteed. Thanks again and will see you all again next Spring.👍👍

We were so looking forward to a meal here tonight. Booked a few days ago. Got there....we were totally forgotten. I had to go to the bar to get a menu. Then they didn't have what we ordered. It's been 4 years since we had a meal out together. Just so disappointed after such good reviews of the place. Maybe just an off day but it's put us right off visiting again.

We always love a visit to this Tapas whilst in Doll. Lovely little place, staff work really hard to make sure you are welcomed, that the food is served as quickly as is poss…..and it’s lovely food! Good choice, plenty of daily specials, all warm all fresh.

It's hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our visit here. Delicious olives, bread, beautifully cooked and incredibly tasty tapas dishes. And the desserts were some of the best I've had in a restaurant. Staff all lovely too. My only regret is that I left it so long to visit. Cannot wait for next time.

Food was fantastic. Had prawns in the shell, with bravas potatoes, simply gorgeous. Staff were attentive and polite. Managed to thank the chef for a lovely dinner as well.

We were staying locally, and wandered in at 6 pm without a reservation, based on their glowing reviews. We have visited Spain a number of times, and this visit brought back many happy memories. Definitely would book next time though, as others who arrived later without booking were turned away. Recommend ox cheeks, prawns and the amazing desserts. We will return!

Amazing food, friendly helpful staff despite the fact it was clearly busy. We were staying nearby on holiday and so very grateful we could bring our dog with us. I’m vegetarian and had plenty of tasty options. We had starters, mains, dessert and a bottle of wine - not a bad dish amongst them all!

Eating early, on my own, I was a bit hesitant. However, the staff were just lovely and gave me a great table looking out onto the street. The house white wine was perfectly chilled and tasted good, the olives flavourful. I had patatas bravas and a mushroom and prawn croquette - they were both delicious. This place is definitely worth a visit - highly recommended.

The food here is amazing and the service is excellent. We booked the night before and were given a very comfortable seat in the window. As there were five of us eating we ordered many of the Tapas dishes on the menu and enjoyed all of them. The croquettes (on special) were particularly good and we also liked the lamb filo parcels. They were very busy and fully booked but the staff were all very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed. We also enjoyed a selection of delicious cheesecakes for dessert. (we all had a different one: passion fruit, almond, malteser and biscotti). We would definitely come back here next time we are passing through.

Great service, amazing food, very friendly staff. House wine good. Cannot fault any of the food but would highly recommend the ox cheeks, lamb filo parcels and the short ribs. Friendly but not really our sort of place. We booked vi's google ratings which did not really represent the venue. But it was busy, and people seemed generally happy. But not a place we will revisit, sorry...

Wow! Great food, great atmosphere and great service We had a lovely meal - and will be back. Our party included two children who enjoyed trying lots of new foods.

Always end up in this place as I would say it has the tastiest food in the town. Second time back here this year and will continue to eat here when we are staying just up the road in the mach loop.

I dropped in without a reservation on the off chance and was lucky they could squeeze me in. Would definitely book in advance if I could. The staff were helpful, explaining everything I needed. The lamb in filo was divine and incredibly tender. The croquettes stuffed with mussel were amazing, too.

Have always absolutely loved tavern y gader and we visit as often as we can as now living in Wiltshire . We were last here 7 of us last November , and had a great night . Couldn’t wait to visit again a few days ago . Big change for us , where was our lovely friendly efficient waitress Emma , young lads this time that didn’t really know what was going on . The owner was run off his feet and it seemed a bit chaotic. People were given menus when sitting down but not told of items not available until ordering which was a shame as I’m sure some would have wanted them The menu has been significantly reduced since our last visit with limited tapas , some of the old favourites were available and a few new ones but so many we have had before now not on the menu . What we had was lovely and great quality , but we were disappointed overall with atmosphere and service . It just wasn’t the same as we have experienced before . We have heard rumours that it may close which will be a disaster for Dolgellau . Already lost Merionydd restaurant . Which with tavern y gader were two if the best places to eat for something different from pub grub . The place to us needs an injection of renewed deco especially on the upper area compared to the colourful bit as you come in . We for one will be gutted if it closes . Would prefer to have a bit of T L C injected and the menu increased again with more of the fabulous tapas especially vegy options like the tempura vegetables and Iberico pork to name a few I would also like to add that we have always sat in the front and the upper bit is soulless and people get forgotten about . The deco there is very jaded . Crossing everything that things improve as have always maintained that the tapas have been the best we have had anywhere . 🤞🙏🏾

Just exceptional from the outset. Fantastic welcome...Great timing of service...price point spot on. The food...lamb, ox cheeks...in fact everything we had was superb. You need to book as already buzzing 630pm sat eve...people had to be turned away. This restaurant has got everything just perfect !

We visited this little restaurant last night and had a fabulous tapas meal. The staff were helpful and efficient and the food was delicious. We shared 6 tapas meals between 3 of us plus a bowl of patatas bravas and this was the perfect amount....

My son took my husband and myself last week (part of a belated father's day gift). Despite the fact that they were very short staffed AND they were very busy (for which they couldn't apologise enough) the service of the most gorgeous food I've tasted...

We found this place through google reviews and were not disappointed. It's an award winning restaurant for reason. The atmosphere is great and meals are freshly prepared with good quality seafood. We were a group of 5 and they were kind enough to accept a reservation on the day. Lovely Spanish food and wine. Would recommend everything we had - Paella, prawns, squid/calamari and desserts. Free parking less than 5mins from restaurant.

Seven of us had tapas here whilst on holiday. From start to finish it was all a bit chaotic. Food items were missed and we did wait for a long time for our food. BUT were pleasantly informed about the wait etc. Food was delicious, tasty & enjoyed by all. We were fed and watered and went away happy. If around the area again we will most definitely be booking in.

The staff were really lovely and attentive but unfortunately the food was disappointing. It didn't seem fresh and some meals were flavourless. A shame because the place has so much going for it otherwise.

We were a party of four after a long days montain biking & very much looking forward to our second visit which didn't disapoint the food was absolutely lovely, great menu. The service was top notch also very attentive & the food came quick. We were looked after very well thank you.

Probably the best place to eat in Dolgellau. I will recommend the lamb filo and ox cheek. Yes, it’s not cheap, but that’s why the food tastes so good. It’s cooked with a bit of passion and care. Get in early if you can to...

Not much to look at from the outside but the foods amazing.

Staff we're incredibly hospitable and friendly from the off with a lovely atmosphere. We had most of the menu between us in the end. It was all absolutely incredible, as was the wine. It was also dog friendly, which was great!

I work overnight in the area quite often and this is our go to for a good meal. Authentic recipes, fresh ingredients. This is an absolute gem of a restaurant!!!

Ermmm.....Really struggling as to why people think this food is even 'good?' Overpriced Bland, cold plates, cold food! Told the waiter and nothing. No apology nothing. If you want taste, value for money and I definitely recommend the stag 3 minutes down the road 👌...

Loved this place - food was not only good but very authentic Spanish flavours. Went in on a Friday night, try and book to prevent disappointment. Reasonable costs also. Fabulous

We've been here a few times now, and each time we have been impressed by just how incredible the food is! Most recently we were looking forward to our favourite red wine chorizo dish, which has now been replaced with the cider chorizo dish, yet...

The food was delicious! A cozy and welcoming atmosphere, the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating :) We'll definitely be going back again!!

Lovely food, lovely people. Our first time here but definitely won't be our last. It's an hour drive each way for us but worth it for the authentic Spanish cuisine. Leave room for the homemade Basque almond cheesecake!
