It was totally by chance that I found Bar Bach. Our tour minibus had stopped in the nearby Castle Square where our driver told us which way to take to walk around the castle. I opted to walk down to the harbour and very soon found Bar Bach. When I saw the sign outside, I simply had to call in. "The rest is history". Yes, that's my drink on the bar 🍸 🤪. Forgive me, but there was a place I visited the following day by intent so included a photo of it here. I was lucky that the train actually stopped there that day.

During our trip to Caernarfon, my partner and I stumbled upon "The smallest bar in Wales," and we couldn't be happier that we did. The bar is quaint and cozy, with a character that's all its own. The friendly staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and we were delighted to find a nice selection of drinks available. One of the best things about this bar is the atmosphere. Sitting opposite on the castle walls where tables and chairs are provided, we were able to enjoy our drinks. It is an experience that we won't forget anytime soon.

We came on Saturday and absolutely loved it. Great beer. Great atmosphere. Great staff. We tried to come back Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because your opening hours on a google search and Facebook say you’re open but disappointed that you were closed on all three occasions (Sunday says your closed - which was us just not checking but the other two say you are open until 1.30am). Fine to be closed (assuming it’s because it is out of season) but update hours online accordingly. Just want to reiterate that we loved it and just wished it was open for the remainder of our stay, unfortunately not.

We were looking for a quick bite of lunch and a pint after visiting the Castle and settled on Bar Bach. Three tables inside which could seat 4 plus another 3 tables for 2 on the grass and 4 trays set on the top of the wall - nice bit of creative thinking. 2 pints of Snowdon Craft Lager, Welsh Raerbit, tuna mayonnaise roll and a portion of chips was £25 (food comes from Caffe Maes which can be accessed through the bar) and was super fresh and tasty. Why oh why didn't john r ask for a top up? One of life's mysteries, I suppose. Nicely situated opposite the town walls just below the castle. Sat outside, across the road on the pavementside wall where trays are provided to balance drinks. There's also the option of some outside tables and seating between this wall and the town walls. Beer wasn't the best unfortunately but I may try again.

Called here out of curiosity and asked for a pint of bitter , half was beer and half was froth, this is not an exaggeration. I paid for it and went to sit down while the barman, who happened to be the owner made no attempt to rectify the situation. I left the so-called pint and walked out in disgust, and never will I return again . Weights and measures should keep an eye on this place.

Having had a walk around Caernarfon in a cold windy day, we needed somewhere to stop for a hot drink. Having spotted a ‘dogs welcome’ sign in the cafe window we went in. However, dogs & their owners have to use another side entrance. This is the one claiming to be the smallest bar in Wales. Well, four adults and five dogs did fill the place but it was cosy. The Staff were very friendly and got water for the dogs. We had coffee and tea cakes, all good. The only minor criticism was a big chip in my cup, but I just drank from the opposite side. We would return again.

Local here that finds it very difficult to find dog friendly places to eat. Have had food in Caffi maes ( same place really as the bar Bach is its basement) several times, we’ve always sat outside but since it been winter we’ve come round the side to the Bar Bach, first few times we were allowed in the bigger area down the stairs by the bar however recently it is now the very small section by the bar. Service is hit and miss, very young workers that give off the don’t care attitude, food is good quality and tasty but at a premium price for what it is. Coffee here is very tasty, much nicer than Costa. The bar itself is very quirky, clean and interesting, if this wasn’t dog friendly I wouldn’t never of came here as it’s not my cup of tea.

We popped in as this place was recommended for a good variety of real ales. When asked what was on offer and from where the young man turned the beer labels round and read them to me! He then explained he hadn't tasted any of them and didn't know where they came from - really useful! Further attempts at conversation were withdrawn as he obviously wanted to spend more time on his facebook/twitter/texting than on engaging with customers. The beer and place were fine but don't go for sparkling repartie!

This is a tiny pub from the outside which is a bit like the Tardis inside - it goes back and down, having different levels and lots of nooks, so plenty of areas to sit. I am very picky about my food and drinks with 15 years in hospitality. I expect people to get the basics right and given my past experience of remote places in wales my expectations were not that high. What a lovely surprise! The bap just hit the spot, lovely runny egg, perfectly cooked bacon and black pudding and lovely strong black coffee. My wife had a delicious light chocolate cake. Happy days! 😍 Loved it! And the setting is just wow!
