Stumbled across this place on Sunday. The landlord could not have been more welcoming. The locals were friendly and the beer was great. A proper community pub. Will certainly be back!

Friendly staff with lively locals. The pool table was busy. Here for just a couple of pints both of which were of good quality.

We're looking forward to visiting as we had been told it was amazing, by my partner's parents (who also joined us on this occasion). However it did not turn out to be even remotely what we expected this time! My in-laws had a great time when they visited in may, but we certainly did not. The staff were friendly enough but not overly so. We ordered drinks in the bar, and my partner got some beer previously poured that was in a jug (bit wierd..?). However it seemed to taste alright. We ordered curry, burger and loaded fries. We sat in the garden. We waited roughly 25 minutes for the food which is normal and not a problem, but then we got served minimal portions in takeaway boxes without lids. The curry was no more than a snack size! My partner finished it in less than a minute, and his mum too. The chips were from the freezer section and they only got half a naan bread each. The loaded fries had half melted, now cold, cheese on top and sauce. Otherwise tasted ok. It was not expensive, so the price is not a complaint. But we would much rather have paid more, in order to have proper portions! Very disappointing as we were "celebrating" our last evening together before us returning home to a different country. A bit of a shame when it clearly was great previously.

This pub is pretty much how pubs should be. A cosy, lively little pub with great hospitality, beer and music. You will make friends after your visit here. We didn't eat here but noticed that the take away service that they provided at the time was very popular. Will definitely return to this gem.

Such a friendly place. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday night and came across this pub on a search engine. Good basic food, very tasty and prices everyone can afford. We had a lovely pulled pork loaded chips in a basket and loaded is the word! The landlord was friendly and very informative about the area, giving us a booklet detailing a great walk with history notes. We plan to do it to tomorrow, after which we’ll be back at Tafarn y John Gwas for our tea. Instead of going to the fancy, over priced places in the area, do check this pub out, you won’t regret it.

I was staying at a local site (Ceridwen Centre) for my 40th at the beginning of June. On the Friday we walked down to the pub and the bar staff were amazing, we spent all night in the beer garden and made a food order for over 20 people. The staff provided great service with drinks constantly flowing and to be honest we were expecting standard pub food but it was absolutely gorgeous and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The locals in the pub were also friendly and overall we had a great time, would recommend this place all day long and can't wait to go back!

Awesome friendly pub, welcoming with an eclectic mix of locals. Fantastic real ales, usually three on, but be quick - the turnover is impressive! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent there during our week away staying just up the road.

Staying close by we visited this pub twice. What a treat! A lovely welcome, especially for the dog, and a great choice of local ales. It is very COVID aware and is following all the rules. The menu is limited as a result but good value for money. Try one of Rosie’s Boxes of Filth - did us for supper and lunch al fresco the next day! We look forward to visiting again when we are next in the area.

We were staying near this pub on our holiday and we ate there twice. The landlord and the locals were so friendly and welcoming. It is a drinkers pub with a simple menu but also cosy and relaxing. The food is great value and served piping hot and well presented. My husband loved his “box of filth” which was perfect with a pint of cider. The children loved the naan bread pizzas and the homemade chilli was tasty.

Awesome little place. Great food, poker nights are fun. Quiz nights are a great laugh and it's definitely the place to go if you're in the area. If you're there for a week, it's like one long beer fest with the variety of great ales on pump. Plus, dog and stranger friendly

If you like a nice beef steak then look no further! The chef buys his meat from a small Swansea butcher and it’s both great quality and well cooked at an amazingly low price! It’s a pub as well as a restaurant so whether you are looking to eat or just have a beer, it’s great! The only downside is that Doombar is the only ale they keep, you would expect a local welsh beer.
