Good food at very reasonable prices. Had the mild curry, rice and chips....very tasty. Piping hot served with a smile.

Booked a table to celebrate a birthday on New Years Day to be advised upon arrival that the table had not been reserved for us despite the booking as the pub had “not heard from us” and we hadn’t turned up to decorate the table at 3pm on the day of the booking. At the time of booking the table no time was given or agreed for decorating the table, we had simply asked whether we would be allowed to decorate the table to which a hesitant response was given. Extremely disappointing and completely unreliable customer service given that the booking had not been cancelled and the pub had not tried to contact us to confirm whether we still required the table, and had instead decided to disregard the booking altogether despite knowing it was for a large party to celebrate a birthday. Even more disappointing that upon arrival, no member of staff attempted to clear the table for us. Requested to speak with the manager at the time of arrival to be told that the manager was not in the pub to speak with us.

We just found it by chance , seen they started doing Sunday lunches. Took a chance and went in. We weren't disappointed. The beef dinner was out of this world. Tasty hot and plenty of it. Defo recommend 👌

The breakfast was quite simply Perfect! Bacon and sausages are too die for! And portion size is perfect for me, an absolute must try. Will DEFINITELY be coming back.

Popped in to get some breakfast as I had a couple of ours to kill waiting in Carmarthen and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! Lovely warm welcome in a nice clean venue. I ordered a traditional breakfast and coffee all for about £9.00 and it was great. Bacon cooked perfectly, nice sausages not your usual deep fried rubbish, perfect egg, generous amount of fried potatoes, perfect granary toast with proper butter and tomatoes on the side. Only one other customer in here eating breakfast which seems a shame as this place should definitely be busier given how nice it is! If you are in Carmarthen and want a good value and really really nice bit of food I definitely recommend it here!

Visited after a long absence and the meals and the staff are just as friendly and plentiful as before (though not in that order). We cannot recommend this pub highly enough as value for money: particularly if you like horse-racing.

So tried this place with the family on a holiday trip, the food was amazing and the price was pretty reasonable as well, nice and clean, caters for kids and the staff where really friendly and helpful as well. Would highly recommend this place for food ☺️

Excellent breakfast. We have been here a few times for breakfast (served until 11.30am) and cannot recall ever being disappointed with the food or the service.

On the evening my work team visited (around 6pm) we were served by a very dour faced barmaid who had a sarcastic attitude with four of our party who ordered drinks. The seating outside was pleasant and made up for the lack luster service from that particular start member.

I live in Barry and quite often catch the train down for lunch! Great food beer and staff love the place!

Excellent roast Turkey for a very reasonable price - GBP 12.50. There were also senior food choices for GBP 7.50. The staff were friendly and service was good.

Had a roast turkey lunch (as it was near Christmas presumably). Tasty turkey slices with stuffing and lots of vegetables. There was a limited choice menu for seniors at a lower price, which looked good as well. Would return.

A dieing breed of pub, a proper pub. Great prices and Lovely staff. Me and my partner regularly come here for a cheeky pint, while on a shopping trip. The restaurant area is clean Tidy, the food is good quality and very tasty also freshly prepared, it is traditional pub food, that my parents and partner enjoy when my family visit. A very friendly happy pub. I would recommend. Especially if you remember before weatherspoons etc took over the world. And a pub was a hub within a community.

Wonderful pub with two sides and beer garden. We came for breakfast and to watch the All Blacks at 8 a.m. Diane our server was a delight. Food was very good and a good value for money.

What a lovely find.!! Was on our way to Tenby and we always stop off in Carmarthen for some lunch first. Our usual place was closed for refurbishing which left us wondering where and what to do. After wandering around for a bit we came across this lovely place. Lovely tasty food with plenty of choice and prices were very good. Staff were friendly and service was quick and cleanliness was first class. Will definitely return.

I've really missed eating out in a relaxed and old fashioned Restaurant ! Lol This town pub has got things just right ! I believe one of the hardest jobs, out there,now, is the Publican's ! Apart from The Security Guard's Role ! The majority of customers who drink do not eat ! So its important to keep the two sections apart ! In my personal opi0nion !Maybe we could drink in one bar and the drinkers drink in another ? Lol Then we can both let our hair down! Lol. Amber and Joanne, the two ladies that served us, were so professional, and Friendly ,to me and my disabled friend, from Burry Port ! It was a very rainy day so we got our orders in quic ? Lol. Thank you, both of you , at making us, 2 x non alcohol drinkers,and also, both drivers,feel so welcome! We both enjoyed, our MEALS and my friend, kept commenting, on her portion of Scampi ! Good was yummy great atmosphere and lovely staff.

Four of us stopped in here for lunch to watch the rangers v Celtic game - we bought drinks and meals. There was only one other couple eating lunch and not watching tv. They left at half time. When the match was 70 minutes in, with no warning even though it was obvious we were watching rangers v Celtic match, the barmaid changed channels to the arsenal v Chelsea game. There was only one other person in the bar by this point sipping a pint. The barmaid refused to put the rangers v Celtic match back on or put it on another tv because apparently the other tvs needed to have the racing on. Very poor customer service for 4 customers that had specifically gone to the pub to watch the match and spent money on lunch and drinks for that reason. Won’t be back and would recommend seeking alternative venues for sport events in camarthen as there is obviously very limited viewing options at this pub. Food was average.

Great place with excellent food, all the sport you could wish for on large tv's, friendly staff and patrons. Will definitely call in again when I'm next in Carmarthen.

There is a specials board that have an excellent choice,also the standard menu. This has become our favourite place to visit. Highly recommend

Haven't been for a number of years and have been rewarded for getting back get back there at last! Superb meals of excellent value. The second time I had a monster of a mixed grill: the steak was a little over-done but it was very tasty and I look forward to the next one. My wife has had the 'Pork Sizzler' and the standard has been consistent throughout. The staff are friendly and couldn't do enough to help us so we'll definitely be back.

Despite the weather we managed to grab a reasonably price lunchtime snack from the new stag. We both had burgers which were definately packed with top quality beef. The bar staff were both welcoming and friendly which made the visit more enjoyable. I hope to revisit for another lunchtime bevey.

Very good food, Sizzling hot and clean with good service& good value for money . How- ever really out of date decor in the restaurant and music that might be better off at my grand mothers funeral. Resembles a doctors surgery from the 1950's. In desperate need of a face lift. No wheel chair access.

Bad staff and very rude customer service.ordered over £30 of food and someone in our group has had recent gastric surgery.asked if we could order a child meal as they didnt want to waste food and was informed we could not as it was for under 12 year olds only.....staff was very rude and we will never go there again and would rather go hungry than spend anymore of our money in this establishment if we could give it minus stars we would very bad experience

We haven't visited this pub for ages but decided to give it a go. It was incredibly busy when we entered but we found a corner table. I had herb and garlic chicken which was lovely and my husband had chicken and leek pie which he polished off. Very pleasant visit and would visit again.

This is one of our favourite places to eat at when visiting Carmarthen town. We have tried a wide variety of their menu & have never been disappointed. My husband’s favourite is the Sizzling Cajun Chicken & I like everything!

Went here for lunch today and what an absolute pleasure it, my wife who is coeliac usually ends up wit a jacket potato not this time, the menu has a nice selection but the big surprise is the amount of gluten free meals, to see my wife tuck into a garlic and herb chicken was wonderful the other 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed what we had, it was well cooked and tasty, the staff were lovely and always had a smile, we will be back

We have eaten at the Stags Head numerous times during the week but have never had Sunday lunch until today and I can honestly say it was one of great best lunches we have had, We were a family of 6 adults and 1 8 year old. The staff were amazing very attentive and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent hot, plentiful and very very tasty well done to the chef. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the Stags Head, we will certainly be returning for Sunday Lunch. Very contented and well fed family.

We visit this pub quite regularly with our friends the food is really nice there is a nice variety of freshly cooked meals available they also do a few meals for the older generation at reduced prices ,can honestly state that we have never had a bad meal there and would definitely recommend you try the food here

We have called at he New Stag's Head a couple of times previously but have missed the restaurant times. Yesterday (Wednesday 24th October) we called in for a meal. I had a mild chicken curry which was very enjoyable and my wife had scampi which she said was very good. It was market day so the pub was very busy. We did not choose the “Senior Citizens' Menu” which was a selection at £4.99 (I thought what can you expect for £4.99 !?) However a number of people sitting near us had used that menu and had excellent meals so we will be using it on our next visit. Staff were very friendly, service was good and it was clean. Highly recommended (if you can find it – it is tucked away off the beaten track).

Fantastic reasonable prices good quality food and the staff are more than helpful

The New Stags Head is a fantastic place to eat in Carmarthen. It is slightly hidden away and could be easily overlooked. There are plenty of meals from, toasties, sandwiches, jackets and a variety of hot food of good quality and reasonably priced, there's something for everyone.

I have visited here on many occasions for lunch with friends and a few glasses of wine, and have always been very impressed with the service and quality of the food provided. I have thoroughly enjoyed yet another tasty and excellent meal. I have sampled most of the menu and can recommend most choices. There's only one meal that I'm not fussed on (and I think that this is down to personal taste) I think that five spice is used in the chicken pie recipe rather than your traditional chicken pie and this is not for me. During my last visit I chose from the specials menu and was not disappointed. I had the chicken with a leek, bacon and cheese sauce and it was absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef and staff as always. A hidden gem in the heart of Carmarthen - I can't recommend the place enough, you won't be disappointed.

Today was my 2nd time having lunch at the new stags head and again was not disappointed. Food was lovely and great value, the staff were ever so friendly and football was on the telly couldn't ask for more.
