Tacos Locos in Canterbury

Horrible dining experience. Food was bland and dry. Drinks tasted like syrup and clearly pre-made rather than fresh. Even the lemonade tasted off. Not worth the price tag on it. No authenticity at all. Staff was minimal for a Saturday evening as well - 1 bar staff, 1 waiter and 1 chef so spent nearly 2 hours in there and most of it was waiting around. Would not recommend at all.

The worst food I’ve ever had. I’m sure they microwave the food because everything is hot and overcooked but simultaneously soggy. Food was bland, stale, zero taste or seasoning. Servers sitting on their phones taking pics of each other. It must be a money laundering situation. Only possible explanation

Lovely place , great atmosphere. Always welcomed with a smile . Staff are attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful . Full menu to choose from and the endless cocktail menu will leave you giddy 🥳. Highly recommend this great restaurant

The food was really bland. Cocktail wasn't good either. But most importantly thee food tasted stale and literally had no flavour. Please don't waste your money guys.

Best Mexican in Canterbury, The service is always good, food is great and the cocktails are such a good price. Always has a great party atmosphere in the evenings. I have been with my young children during the day as-well and the staff are always very good with them and friendly.

5 Stars All Round! I recently visited Tacos Lacos in Canterbury in a quest to find a good Mexican restaurant. We a party of 6 walked in with no reservation on a busy Saturday night and where accomodated for straight away. We all ordered Mexican Cocktails, made by a Mexican Mixologist! Alan's Creative Cocktails are a must have! The Food was excellent too! I had Steak Fajitas which was served on a Sizzling Skillet and very tasty. The Staff where amazing and couldnt do enough for you. Ali the manager was a great host and ran a good show. Will deffinatley be back soon!

The food is disgusting . Plus the food isn't fresh and its not Mexican food . The place needs to be shut down ..I've eaten in excellent Mexican restaurants in the states and in London..please don't waste your money

Considering how long Tacos Locos has been on the high street, I would have thought it would have maintained its tasty food and delicious drinks that I had many years ago. Instead, the food was quite bland, the cocktails weren't mixed well, and the service amounted to four people standing behind the bar on their phones, only occasionally checking in on tables in a half hearted way.

Best place to eat in Canterbury on a regular basis. Don’t bother with fast food, Eat Here! Its delicious.

We popped in for dinner before a theatre show and they were accommodating when I told them we were under a time limit. Had fajitas, pork steaks, chicken burger and enchilada and they were all very nice. The cocktails looked good but didn’t have time to sample them sadly. Maybe next time

We went here for my daughters 18th birthday party there were 11 of us. We were having a nice time ordered drinks which cocktails is there main thing they only have expensive little 330ml bottles of beer which was gone with 4 mouthfuls. I was gonna go get a drink from the pub directly opposite but didn't. We ordered starters they came but we waited an hour for our mains but before we got that far 15 or more guys turned up and came in who had clearly been out enjoying themselves entered the restaurant and ruined our night they were shouting swearing and overpowering the whole restaurant. Thankfully they went before us and we got to cut my daughters cake we had made for her and we were given a free shot on the house as they tried to make it up to us because they knew we were unhappy. The food was good though. Although my wraps could have done with not being kids pack lunch small wraps and full sized ones had to eat most of the sizzler with no wraps as just wasn't enough. My wife's been here 3 or 4 times in the past and had a good eve but sadly just the wrong time for us. It was expensive I thought for what it was.

My company were here for about 3 hours for our Christmas party. The drinks were very good, the food was amazing, and the service was quite frankly second to none. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Absolutely fabulous , food was great, service was great especially the gorgeous waitress's .... Thanks for going out for the milk for my coffee. A brilliant experience so shall be returning soon.

The food was so. BAD. Laughably so. Ordered the Mexican Mayhem platter to share - the "buffalo" wings had no sauce, and both the squid and buffolo wings were massively overcooked and tasted of nothing. The quesadilla was a floppy wrap with a tiny bit of cheese and about 2 bits of pepper. The salsa and cheese topped bread was just pizza bread. It was just tomato paste and melted cheese. The bread was both over and under cooked somehow? We also got the prawns - massively overcooked, the plate was covered in oil and grease and had no flavour. It was all stuff that I could make for myself at home and be sorry that I had done so. What a waste of money.

My partner and I were looking for place to eat dinner, as we both like Mexican food we have made decisions to try Tacos Locos. We have visited on Sunday evening, pretty quite, not many customers. Stuff was friendly but didn’t know what they had available at that moment, the food was ok - we had pork chimichangas and chicken burrito followed with corona and sol. Later on my partner was craving some desert, however they had only 3 positions available, so he decided to order double espresso and this was the time when disappointment started. We have been served double espresso made of instant coffee, we would completely understand if they would informed us that coffee machine is closed - was late evening or they ran out of coffee, instead they were trying to fool us - I have politely asked for the espresso to be re made and the supervisor started preparing instant coffee espresso again within coffee machine.

It was so late that I ended up picking it up from the restaurant myself. So once I ate it the food was pretty cold.

We've been coming here for 5 years. And we've always had a memorable time- the staff, food and cocktails are special. If you're in Canterbury- Book and visit! Or just drop in- you will be met with a warm welcome and fantastic food.

Went to this place before going around Westgate. The ambience is nice, friendly staff. Ordered the tacos as a starter it was average, I would say, could have put more jalapeños but the portion was alright. Then, for my mains, I had the burritos with beef balbacoa. It was ok, I guess, I enjoyed it. Their JD ribs was nice just needed a little bit more sauce, portions were great. I ordered a rum añeĵo which was recommended by the waiter and my daughter had a jungle juice, we both like it, so I guess cocktails are their highlights.

My wife and me always come here whenever we visit Canterbury. They're always very welcoming, the food is always excellent and the service is always good. Would recommend to everyone.

Early delivery which I was happy with as I was starving! Food was nice and hot, only thing I’d say is please add what things come with the meal, got 2 burgers and also bought 2 chips separately as it did not state chips came with the burger, could of saved myself some money, other then that perfect!

Went with a friend for a quick dinner before the theatre; planning to have a drink later on so we asked the very nice waitress for water with our meal. A minute later, another waitress came over “to check” we only wanted water, and launched an unsolicited, deeply irritating conversation about where we were from, were we mother and daughter - very awkward, we’re the same age - or were we sisters; again, ridiculous, we’re not remotely alike, so we ordered a couple of drinks just to get rid of her (more fool us) which they neglected to add to our bill (more fool them). We paid for the drinks when it was pointed out to us as we were leaving, but as we’d hardly touched the drinks and hadn’t wanted them in the first place, they could’ve been a bit nicer about it. Food was okay, nothing special, and with so many other places to choose from in the town, I wouldn’t go again.

We had jalepino poppers and quesadillas.. both of them were really nice.. Recommend this place if you're visiting Canterbury.

Always brilliant service and delicious foid

The restaurant was fairly accessible with my walker, I think there was a small step up. We were shown to a window seat straight away. We ordered a pitcher of passion fruit and mango margarita, a naked burrito bowl and chicken enchiladas with some wedges. Food was hot and delicious! Staff were very friendly. We also got a shot of strawberry tequila on the house with the bill. Good choice of food, brilliant choice of cocktails and reasonably priced. I would definitely go again.

Stopping over in Canterbury for dinner to break up a long drive. We found this place and was really inviting. The staff were really friendly, there was a nice quirky atmosphere and the food was great! Could not fault this, would definitely go again next time we are nearby!

Not Mexican food. Atrocious margaritas. Waitress could not for the life of her take the entirety of our order (a shared appetizer, four mains and four drinks) properly and would come back repeatedly to confirm it. Waited over an hour for food to arrive, were given 'complimentary' ice cream for our 7yo for the wait. Meanwhile waitress sitting outside on her phone smoking... £160 later, will absolutely not return. If at least the drinks were decent, the food would have been excusable, but this place is abysmal.

I was called up by the restaurant who told me the driver was outside and then they hung up before I could even tell them that there was nobody there. I had to call them back and they were adamant a driver was there. I had to wait outside in the cold for fifteen minutes before someone finally arrived with my food! Food was thankfully still warm and tasted very good. Shame the delivery was so unreliable.

The vegetable fajitas were swimming in oil which went all over my other food and made the vegetables very wet and not very nice to eat. Guacamole was bland. Potato skins were ok.

Very good food and nice staff! The atmosphere at Tacos Locos is friendly and welcoming, the staff there are helpful and fun to interact with. The place is clean and pleasant to dine in. We enjoyed our food greatly in a relaxed atmosphere. Went there on Sunday for lunch and they welcomed us and our dog with open arms. There were 6 of us and we ordered starters, main dishes and lots of drinks, everything was delicious and fresh and the main dishes portions were generous. Hope to go back there many times 🤤😍🌮🌯

What a lovely Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing and so was the service. Mario at the bar makes the most wonderful cocktails and Thomas the manager was chatty, fun and extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. We had a fabulous time and We’ll definitely go back.

Best enchiladas I've ever eaten, and mean margaritas!! Vibrant atmosphere and extremely friendly and attentive staff. Only dropped a star because they don't serve chilli con carne!

Food was cold driver was at the wrong place and took another 20 minutes to get to me food was cold and soggy! Had to throw most of my order away. Just eat shocking customer service and not helpful then ignored! Just eat DO BETTER!!

The food was not worth the price very clearly they don’t care to deliver same portions for delivery as restaurant despite price, not enough toppings for fajitas. Such a shame as have always enjoyed but £60 for ‘4’ fajitas but actually less than enough for 2 adults 2 children. Wouldn’t order again

Great place lovely food don't delay go try it today

Received my delivery which included oven roasted vegetable fajita. The vegetables arrived, but not the actual wraps. When I called the restaurant, a rude man told me that they cannot do anything about it. Will never order again. Shame - a few years ago they were really good, but not any more.

Seemed promising on the way in however after receiving food it was evident there was no authenticity- sour cream, grated cheese and two shells all tasted identical to tesco value range- service was okay but generally disinterested and bored- overall a below mediocre experience. However, the cocktail pitchers improved the situation :)

One of the best places on the high street for food. I had the ribs and they just fell off the bone. I don’t come to Canterbury much but if you’re visiting, PLEASE go here for a stunning dinner. Wide range of cocktails and friendly staff. Bloody brilliant

Meet with a warm welcome to this funky Mexican restaurant. Cocktails were nice. Ordered beef tacos and steak fajitas. Food was ok not great but not bad. Was pipping hot but bland nothing special what you can cook at home but better presented. Was not marinated steak, was beef stir-fry strips with a bit of seasoning thrown on whilst cooking. Taco meat was chilli con carne that was frozen and defrosted very oily. Not homemade tacos as advertised. Servers and barman more interested in entertaining there friends outside smoking. Served and forgotten about after food arrived . Clearly started with the best intentions but obviously no care now. Also service charge on the bill which I don't agree with.

Initial waiter was very kind and friendly, and the food was great :). However, when the other waitress took my card payment, she said "yep" and just walked away without saying anything else, very rude. We all have bad days and I know customer service can be draining but I don't see a reason to not even say "thank you".

Really good food that is great for value and the variety and quality of the cocktails is amazing, absolutely love it and is one of my favourite places to go If you haven't been you need to try this place!

Food was just old el paso kits that seemed to be bought in. None of the food we ate appeared to have been made there just re heated or a old el paso spice mix added to the meat. Service was also terrible, the two servers seemed more interested in talking to each other than actually concentrating on getting orders right and the right items to the right table. I would recommend buying a mexican kit from your local supermarket as it will come out the same as eating here

It's a good restaurant and their cocktails are exceptional, but I've just ordered from them from home for the first time and it was an awful experience. Was delivered with cheap containers that meant that food was half cold and the grease/oil from meats spilled onto other foods. The presentation was really lacking and it felt very naff, which is a shame because in the restaurant it's always been lovely looking and tasting food. Gutted

Traditional Mexican it is not, Chiquito/Chimi Changa level it certainly is. Service was on point nothing extraordinary but paid service regardless As mentioned food is poor, I couldn't taste the difference between there food and a packet of the fajita mix from tesco it was that bland. Food expensive for what it is. As people have mentioned before the main premise of this place is the huge drinks menu however I was put off as soon as a original margarita came with that terrible pre made sours mix. Like seriously has anyone here even been to Mexico and tasted Traditional food? Lunch menu deals seems like the better option for a cheaper and more generic menu, won't be back, would rather take the trip to Folkestone and go to Conchitas

I wouldn’t recommend. It’s expensive but the food is a cheap and basic version of real Mexican food. Plus their concept of ‘pico de gallo’ is just so wrong, just cheap iceberg with a couple of pieces of jalapeños. It would be acceptable if the prices were lower for that sort of food

Let me start off by saying I never received my order. My order was placed at 6:18pm Requested delivery for 745 90 mins heads up so reasonable delivery time requested. Order accepted within seconds. Estimated time of delivery was 745 - perfect! It’s now 845 and I haven’t received my order! And I am writing this review. I have called the Restaurant 6 times - no answer I am very angry and annoyed Me and my family are fasting and today we decided to order in and nothing has been delivered! This is awful dreadful service!

Amazing, great Mexican restaurant, with plenty of options and great service. I liked the fajita combo, and the chicken sandwich. I would highly recommend it.

The quality of food is very good and staff is polite. One thing that may be taken into consideration is having non halal option for chicken and lamb . For someone who doesn't eat halal meat your options become limited to prawn or fish .

Great Mexican atmosphere with scenes and depictions of the beach on the wall. Food was really good too. Will have to try the cocktails next time!

After many happy visits over the years, my evening at tacos locos on new years eve left myself and my friends never wanting to visit ever again, I am genuinely sad about this as it's always been a go to choice of mine for as long as I can remember. Firstly, my booking which I made over the phone didn't exist, thankfully this was rectified after I needed to add a seat to the table before arriving and they managed to sort the booking out, no big deal but could have ruined the evening. As soon as we arrived they were clearly understaffed for the evening and only 1 of the guys there were making drinks so for the 2 hours we were there for we only had 1 cocktail to drink, I had to cancel our second drink order which consisted of 4 of the same cocktails, two virgin cocktails and 1 beer, the beer was the only drink to arrive after 20 minutes. One member of staff who had been jokingly moaning to us about working that evening (seemed very nice, slightly drunk but clearly didn't want to be there, I can't blame him) dropped a few plates and stormed out the restaurant and didn't come back for about 40 minutes, yes he got an earful upon return but with him disappearing it further hampered the table service and put a lot of unnecessary stress on the remaining staff members who were already stretched, it made the entire restaurant really tense, uncomfortable and feel awkward to be in leading to us just getting the bill and going. The food whilst being served promptly was generally overly oily which took away from it's decent flavours, also our complimentary strawberry shots never arrived. I hope this will be something for the restaurant to learn from because I would hate to see this place lose its touch and I wish them all the best for 2022.

Why has nobody been in touch as this order was terrible! A major delay for daughters birthday treat and me between Jobs - it came after two hours 29 mins and was cold plus I could only eat a couple of starters then get off to work!

First time visitors, and I have got to say, based on this experience, our last as well. We fancied tapas and so we thought that we would give this a go. We ordered a plate of nachos to start with the extra chicken topping. When they arrived we had to send them back as the chicken had not been added. Not a good start. We then decided on going for the sharing platter for tapas and added pulled pork tacos to the order. The platter that arrived was more than disappointing. The menu clearly stated potato skins - we got one half potato skin. The wings were supposed to be cooked and coated in their special Jack Daniels barbeque sauce. We received two dry chicken wings, with a little pot of very sweet barbeque sauce. Definitely no taste of Jack Daniels here just very sweet commercial sauce. The squid rings were rubbery and overcooked. The goats cheese quesadillas were so overpowering that they were incredibly difficult to eat. The menu also stated that these dishes were served with their Pico de Gallo - no sign of it on any dish. The tacos were also supposed to be served with a Chipotle soured cream - yup not provided either. The guacamole and soured cream provided were definitely shop bought. The staff were friendly but in all reality the food was appalling and I would think very carefully before you ventured here.

We must have visited on a bad day to be fair. 28/11. However please let your customers know what is available on the menu when presenting the menu, only to be told once you take the order isn't the right way. The Coffee Machine also out of order. Hopefully fixed now. And no Churros for dessert!!!

Absolutely amazing food, cocktails and service! Tasted magnificent and would definitely come back again.
