I popped in one night last week for battered chips and a battered sausage. The chips were good, and the battered sausage was not so good. They had to cook the sausage from fresh as they didn't have any in the display case. I wouldn't have minded waiting another 5 mins as the batter on the sausage wasn't crispy in the slightest. I ended up cooking it in the air fryer for 5 mins to crisp it up - still wasn't perfect as air fryers don't beat deep fat fryers for batter.

Pie stale, hard around edges and chips were cold. Not the first time. Do not recommend

Great customer service and the food was incredible recommended the donner meat and chips gets you loads for your money would definitely recomend

My husband had food poisoning from the chicken in a bucket last night.

I asked for a battered sausage and chips not a soggy pancake wrapped round a sausage, chips were soggy and covered in more soggy batter, never again

Chips 7.5 fish 8 curry sauce 8 overall 6 out of ten, spoilt because of soggy batter or would of been an 8. And would of given a 5 star. Get it right guys.

Ordered on line after a 13 hour NHS shift so I could collect..to be told when I got there ..you can't order online it doesn't come through ... why have an online ordering system then that gives you an order number ??so had to re order ..wait another 20 minutes ...after a challenging day I went for the challenger burger(2 patties and a chicken breast) and the other half an inferno (chicken breast)... got home eventually.. to be disappointed ..a squashed pattie burger and the chicken breast must of had some sort of resuscitation and legged it as there was no sign of a chicken breast anywhere .. disappointing for 7.50 to say the least. .you can't find a phone number ..Well one that works anyway to complain....lesson learnt ..you only get one chance .. and that was yours so if you see syd .... tell him 👍🏻

Food seemed warmed up. Soggy chips. At 4pm! Poor !! Woman was lovely. Probably knew the food was awful.

Been here several time since new owners, so far really good food and experience Update 5/10/23 20 mins to get served, 1 server 3 men standing around. Large chips, box only half full Gone down a lot since first opening

Our first visit here since the refurb and the place looks amazing. Let’s not forget the fish and chips. Wow it was some of the best we have ever had. The batter was crispy and the fish was lovely and white. Will we our new local. Thank you guys.

really clean and modern place, went to buy some fish and chips but ended up buying fish and chip special and a smash burger, the staff were amazing, really friendly.

In my opinion they have the best battered chips in wolverhampton. Amazing food. Friendly staff. Well worth a trip.

Awful food, ordered at 5.15pm got home and the fish is too well cooked and so greasy, it’s the leftover fish from the lunch time but refried. Same with the battered sausage. Just all tasted awful. For the high prices charged it shouldn’t be left over lunchtime food refried

Since changing to Syds - SO EXPENSIVE - closes early no real customer value experience ¬new owner not very friendly - food is nice x

On my 3rd visit since it’s changed owners to SYDS fish & chips. Didn’t ask whether I wanted battered or normal chips, prices have gone thru the roof. VERY expensive for what it is a very small cone of chips is £2.70! The 1st & 2nd time I went they got my order wrong. Will travel over to bilbrook fish bar or Peps plaice in Compton. Far to expensive here now and not much choice for veggies!

Since refurbishment price has gone up and portion size gone down dramatically, shame as the food and staff nice but price is way too much for what you get ,will be making the drive to peps plaice in the future

Preferred this place before it got taken over. When I was in there there were flies flying around. Had a burger and southern fried chicken and it was nothing special. Then had an upset stomach after. Won’t be going back

The staff are very friendly and efficient. The prices have rocketed recently - I suppose they had to to pay for the recent refurbishment. It's a very expensive chippy nowadays. I hoped going at lunch would mean fresh chips - they were cooked in front of me. However they were inedible and went in the bin. They were cooked externally but internally they were all rock hard and not cooked properly.

Under new ownership and more choices on the menu. Prefer unbattered chips but always have to wait for these as only battered pre cooked. It means more people hanging around waiting. Perhaps should have pre cooked both varieties? Fish nice and pies cooked well.

Foods gone down hill and so has the service. Also now closes at 9pm not 10pm.

Just popped in as time was getting on and was starving... Just ordered a regular portion of battered(orange chips) Service was good and staff were nice and friendly.... The chips were delicious and I've never known chips to be so hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥... Had to wait a good 5 minutes before I could start eating them.. Definitely reccomend the food here and will most certainly be back 👍👍

As most places a steep rise in prices over the past few months. They appear to have also cut back on the size of kebabs. Spent over £20 on three basic kebabs.

Can't beat the orange chips.... proper battered. Best I've had outside of Bilston. Service is great.

I used to love the chips from here. Then yesterday I was told they are now cooked in beef oil! Obviously they don’t care about their vegetarian customers. I’ll go elsewhere now.

New owners chips were decent nice to have some battered chips for a change.

Nice orange chips now and good portion sizes. Fish usually cooked fresh if you go at the right time. Recommended.

We’ve finally got Orange chips!

The new owners have really improved this local chippy. For starters they serve battered chips which are some of the best in the area ( and perhaps better than another chippy in compton). Decent portions and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Edited review. I didn't know they have changed to battered chips, after working in Bilston for years I really don't like them. Cod was soggy. Will not be having these from there again. Had kebab the other evening and that was good but disappointed now

100 times better than last owners. Decent size portions. Young ladies are pleasant. On plus side don't have to travel to castle croft or Newbridge for battered chips 👍

Wife got food poison from the chicken. Has to be as only place we had eaten there. Food is the worst I have ever tasted. Chips are very dry and tastless. Not eating here again, will rather be walking into Tettenhall for chips.

Pink chicken and blood in my burger, management couldn’t of cared less his excuse was it’s to big, so they serve something not cooked and couldn’t potentially kill someone the food standards agency have been contacted !!!

Ordered the kebab in a naan special. Naan bread was so dry and obviously had not been cooked/toasted. Ordered mixed kebab and only received Chicken. Portion was very small for almost £12. Very disappointed, won’t be ordering again

Just been for 21.00 and not open. Need to update website Yet again disappointed no chips at 9.00pm, it's a chippy with no chips. What's that all about says closes at 10.00pm. Went to newbridge was amazing sorry perton disappointed

Vile!!!! Chicken burger was like chewing a rubber dog toy chicken. Chips where undercooked and cans of coke are supposed to be kept in a fridge not the oven. Never drank coke that hot in my life 🤣

First of all prices are ridiculous chips always seem half cooked today I bought a mixed mixed meat and chips food was really greasy tikka meat was fatty donner meat wasn't cooked was just a waste of money would not recommend this chip shop better off ordering from somewhere else

chips are below par and everything is over-priced ... do yourself a favour & drive to newbridge or codsall fish bars where the food is tastier and cheaper.

The Best Chip Shop in Town. Make sure you visit today. Their fish is delicious, whether you like Cod or Haddock or kebabs to Burgers. There's always a friendly smile, just pop in and say hello. On Monday there is a special on chips, order fish & Chips and the chips are Free!!

Had previously given a negative review but alas I have been converted by recent visits. Generous portions, beautiful food, especially the donner burgers. The chips are much better too.

Great value chip shop and the quality is what you want it to be.

Must be a war on. Only got half a portion. Nearly broke my tooth as one of the chips had a small stone in it (or something that looks like a stone). I think the girls serving are programmed not to smile.

Unfortunately some of the young female Staff are Full of Bad Attitude & the Chips are Pale & Average at Best!.

My mum bought some chips from this shop, today at 5pm right after when it opened. And the chips tasted hard and chewy like they were cooked the day before. I’m sure that they were leftovers from, lunch time and must’ve mixed it in with the freshly cooked chips.

Good clean premises and tasty food they also do kids meals and specials also telephone orders too

I went in tonight (I was the only customer) I placed my order then over heard the girl that served me asking another to put up something completely different, when I told her that I hadn’t order that her attitude was disgusting, I asked her who she thought she was speaking to, she then said my order would take a least another 5 minuets she has already wrapped part of my order and this was just plonked on top of the warmers, I then asked for a pot of curry sauce ( you would have thought I was asking her to go to the moon) the owner really needs to have a good look at these young girls who serve, and perhaps send them on course on how to speak to customers correctly, because they won’t get fair in this world otherwise, and to top it off it was a right waste of money the fish was dry and disgusting, I can honestly say I would rather travel to a decent chip shop than go to that one again.

The owner needs new staff went in there tonite got spoke down to by a school kid is unbelievable ! She need teaching how to speak to customers better ! Won't use chip shop ever again !the owner should take note to employ adults not children with attitude problems !
