First visit at lunchtime today (Friday 28/2/25) for a cheeky chippy lunch. Was looking forward to visit having read so many great reviews. Didn't fancy fish at lunch so had a saveloy, battered sausage and chips and it was spot on. Chips were luscious. Will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. First impressions are excellent and would recommend.

My special lunch cod and chips was just what i needed this lunch time today. Superb quality food, perfectly cooked in v.good oil. Top quality foood,service and the ambiance too because while waiting for the freshly cooked to be served one could enjoy looking at the famous pictures on the wall and listening to the 80s songs non stop.

Good food , But the way he speaks to his staff is appalling. The 2 young girls there were spoken to like they were rubbish on his shoes . Just a bully

Can get a bit busy and hard to hear when they call your order if you go in, and the price is a bit higher than some for a chippy. But it's probably my favourite chippy of any in the country, from cornwall to hull. I literally get it every weekend. (But I never eat in so I can't comment on that)

Called the shop after delivery time was missed and was told it had left and would be with us soon. Called again after 20 mins to be told they had issues and it would be with us soon. When food eventually arrived it had clearly been sitting for a long time, it was cold and sweaty and we was unable to eat the food. Really disappointed

11am to 4 pm cod and chips are £7, next to it it's board "eat in and you will get tea or coffee free" I asked for coffee, unfortunately only instant coffee, so I choose tea. Tea wasn't free it was £2. No toilet to use. They asked eat in or take away, I confirmed eat in but don't understand why they asking this as my cod and chips was in take away box , with plastic fork and tissue. No sauce was offered, but you have salt and vinegar on the table. Fish was good. But old cooked oil smell in the air was worrying me. I think they should stop do eat in. As there no toilet, no proper cutlery. Scam on free cup of tea.

Love this fish & chip shop - always absolutely delicious. My last order was through Just Eat. I rang the shop because I was worried my payment hadn’t gone through. The guy I spoke to was so lovely - friendly and reassured me that my payment had gone through. Said he was actually cooking my food as we spoke. SO professional and friendly. The food arrived on time and was as delicious as always.

Best fish and chips as always. Ordered for my grandad who couldn’t hear knocking at his door, a young man called Connor called me to say there is no answer at the front door. Connor was so polite and wry helpful. Thankyou

This is by far the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. When I come home from a good days fishing I stop in here and get my dinner. It the best part of my day 😂

Curry sauce was awful, it was meat flavoured and very dark brown! The saveloy was tough as old boots. And the chips were greasy! Thankfully the kids sausages in batter weren’t too bad ;-) I certainly won’t be ordering from here again. Not a patch on captains. Such a shame.

Best fish n chip shop locally by far. Friendly staff (forgive the Liverpool supporter, he can't help it 😂). In all honesty, Good banter, great service and even better food. A warm welcome awaits every visitor from their friendly and efficient staff. Never had a bad meal here, ever. Highly recommend

Very good traditional fish & chips take-away. Also does burgers & ribs. A bonus is that the food is served in recyclable cardboard boxes using no plastic & less paper.

Possibly the best I’ve had in a long time, I ate in there (at no extra cost) the chips were perfect as was the cod roe in batter. Eating here has reminded me how nice fish and chips is and demonstrates how diabolical some chip shops are. Will certainly be back.

I have been ordering from Sidney’s for many years all the food we have had is lovely and all the people that have delivered have also been nice polite , never been late always quick delivery to us would highly recommend, the young lad that delivered tonight was very polite he has been to us a few times really nice young man

Probably the best chips and curry sauce I have ever had. Always pop in here for lunch if were working nearby and never been dissapointed. Good lads and good food.

on the app the status was delivered but the food didn't arrive for another 25 minutes. Once the food did arrive it was excellent.

Unfortunately was not impressed with the quality of food the sausage and butter wasn’t fresh, and it was rockhard the cod was too oily but what was even worse was the squid potion nearly £8 for 8 tiny pieces the size of a fingernail
